Where are our ladies MIA?

AmandaCooper, Mermummy, Minipie, Alien06, Quodlibet, Pipoca... hope you are all ok?

Feeling so tired at the moment, so much going on! Feel like I could sleep for a week! So excited that we are now in August though, TTC is getting closer & closer!

Thanks for the info! Guess I should start on the vits now if we're planning for the end of sept. Makes it feel a bit real and scary! Also will look into zinc, but hb is sceptical about vitamins so I'm not sure he'll take them. Interesting fact nannyl

js sorry to hear you're feeling down.

JustShaggingForNow · 02/08/2010 10:07

Hey Bebe - funny that we both had really odd cycles this month, must be something in the air!!!

The chances of TTC earlier are about..... um zero! He's not going to change his mind no matter what I say. Bit irritating as it seems a little unfair that we have to do what he decides but as he is the one who is going to have to support me and the baby then i guess I don't really have much choice!! Unless we have an "accident".... but I don't think my conscience could cope with engineering that just yet.......

great stat nannyl - also not sure how long I thought they took to 'make' but am a little amazed that it's over 3 months!!!!

bebejones · 02/08/2010 09:52

JS - Must be the month for odd cycles mine was completely bizarre too! At least you know now. About your DH not changing his mind though. If your job situation changes soon can you TTC earlier?

Nannyl - I didn't know sperm took that long to 'make', although not sure how long I thought it took!

OP posts:
nannyl · 02/08/2010 09:21

hello squirrel

ditto bebejones and i say that zinc is to give OH "supersperm"

and sperm go into production about 100 days before they "come out" so make when you start taking folic acid its a good idea for your partner to start taking zinc

JustShaggingForNow · 02/08/2010 09:19

morning ladies! Hope that you all had lovely weekends.

Bit gutted as AF arrived with a lot of pain on Saturday morning , she seems to have dissappeared now which is a bit unusual but I guess my body is just having a bit of a "funny" month.

DH was fab when I told him on Friday night (was a little bit worried about telling him to be honest!!) and said that whatever it was it would be fine. Bless. I had a bit of an emmotional weekend for some reason and had a good cry when we went to bed last night. Think it's just a combination of not seeing him and being miserable in my job and then the being desperate to TTC but not being able to. It just makes me a bit down and a good cry usually makes me feel a bit better for a few weeks!!!

I tried to explain to him last night how I feel about TTC. He is somebody who can never wait for anything that he really wants so I tolf him that it was like him really wanting a new bike (he is mad about cycling and owns 4 bikes already) but not being able to have it for another 2 years..... I think that helped him understand how frustrating it is but it didn't change his mind on timings.

I even pointed out that if we started TTC this month and things happened fast then it would fit perfectly with a lot of other things but he is sticking to his "we need to spend time together as a couple first" line and so I'll be lurking in here until March at the earliest

Nannyl and Bebe - very exciting that you are on the vitamins already!! one step closer to TTC for you both!!

xxx

bebejones · 02/08/2010 09:15

Squirrel - it's recommended that you take folic acid for at least 3 months before you TTC & then for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. But it is actually a really beneficial supplement so doesn't hurt to take it anyway! Zinc for the blokes helps the little swimmers!

squirrel007 · 02/08/2010 09:10

Hi nannyl

I'm just wondering - when's the best time to start taking folic acid? I bought some but haven't started on them yet. And what's the zinc for? I'm a bit clueless...

bebejones · 02/08/2010 08:54

I did have to stop the pregnancare when I was PG last time as I couldn't eat with them when I had the awful ms. My MW said as long as I had folic acid she wasn't worried. So will keep that in mind next time too.

Hope JS is ok? Any news JS?

OP posts:
nannyl · 02/08/2010 08:30

i am having sanatogen.... but will switch to pregnacare conception for the month before we TTC at which point OH will have the well man conception tablets!

i think i'll stick with sanatogen when pg... my last boss had them and both she (and him) were doctors and they were clearly good enough for them...

bebejones · 02/08/2010 07:26

All my vitamins *& DHs Zinc) say to take 'preferably with a meal', I think it's just so you don't take them on an empty stomach. I take mine before bed, so not with a meal, but I'm fairly sure I don't have an empty stomach!

Can't make my mind up whether or not I will get Pregnacare or Sanatogen. Sanatogen are cheaper I think but I took Pregnacare last time but they did taste funny Still a couple of months off, for now I shall just hang around the bus stop with you guys!

OP posts:
nannyl · 01/08/2010 22:04

lol

OH has zinc and he knows exactly what its for...

i think he has to take it with meals... have allowed him to start it from September (though he did expect to be taking it last week, after we had bought it together, along with my sanatogen pronatal vits ready for in a couple of months time. )

bebejones · 01/08/2010 21:47

nannyl - How exciting, enjoy it with a glass of something sparkling! I caved and started taking mine a few days ago , had to start so I wouldnn't 'waste' any when I switch to prenatal vits! (That's how I justified it to myself! )

Also got DH on the zinc at last! The bottle says that it is for boosting your immune system, so he doesn't suspect a thing! Woo ha ha ha!!

nannyl · 01/08/2010 21:25

welcome squirrel

am Very excited as now its augast i am "allowed" to start taking my folic acid... which have been sitting in the drawer for a while waiting unti 1st Aug!

bebejones · 30/07/2010 21:27

JS - I know you are prob away right now, but got fingers crossed for you that things resolve themselves one way or another over the weekend!

Another jab done...8 more to go! 8 more weeks then I'm on the countdown to TTC!

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 30/07/2010 09:45

Yeah - will pop to the GP on Monday morning. They don't take calls or book appointments in advance unless you are willing to wait for 2 weeks to see the Dr!!!!!

bebejones · 30/07/2010 09:42

Oh dear JS That is a tricky one. I'd tell him you are late but that you have had a couple of BFNs. Possibly all the stress of situation delaying AF even more, maybe if it still hasn't arrived after the weekend ring GP?

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 30/07/2010 09:13

Still no AF.
Did a test this morning and it was a BFN
Had some seiously odd dreams last night, all about getting a BFP and being pregnant. I must have woken up about 4 times and wondered if it was real or a dream. DH was laughing at me as I fell asleep really early and he stayed up reading. I started sleep taking and he thought it was hilarious. Aparently I kept saying "it's day one" "the cycle, it's day one!!" WTF?!?!?

Feeling utterly crap this morning. Like I may throw up at any moment but not getting my hopes up based on that as I have really bad IBS and a gluten intolerence and so ofter have days and week where I have horrible nausea.

Now in a bit of a conundrum, do I tell him that I'm late and risk freaking him out? or do I wait? Tempted to chat to my mum this weekend but not sure if that is unfair on him......

bebejones · 30/07/2010 08:04

Any news JS?!

OP posts:
bebejones · 29/07/2010 19:33

Squirrel - unfortunately I found out I was PG 2 weeks before our December wedding, we were planning to honeymoon the following June/July but had a baby instead! Think we will be one of those couples that end up having a honeymoon on their 25th Wedding anniversary!

Am throwing myself into preparations for DDs birthday party in order to keep my brain occupied & also keep me away from the other conception threads! SO broody, hoping lots of friends bring their little babies to the party so I can have lots of cuddles!

OP posts:
squirrel007 · 29/07/2010 19:12

Hi all, thanks for the welcome

NMCB, guess we're quite keen, but it's a good time for us right now so don't see the point in waiting around! Hope the tummy bug goes away.

bebe I told HB that there'd be no babies without a honeymoon, so he got it sorted super quick! Think he's keener than I am

justshagging awww, what a lovely thing for your dad to do

bebejones · 29/07/2010 16:07

Welcome Squirrel! Honeymoon sounds fab, very I'm still waiting for mine...3years on!!

Biscuits - poor you, sounds nasty Hope you feel better soon!

JS - you are going to have to tell us as soon as you ahve tested 2moro...on tenterhooks!

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 29/07/2010 15:59

oooooh - you'll have an amazing time on safari - My Dad treated my sister and I to one last family holiday a couple of years ago and it was the best holiday I've ever been on (except for my honeymoon!!!)

FMU is first morning urine (leart from stalking reading posts on MN. Aparently is has a greater concentration of HCG (get me and my acronyms!!!) and so is more likely to give an accurate reading. I've been using First Response tests so in theory they should have given me a BFP on the 1st day of being late but you never know.......

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 29/07/2010 15:29

Thanks JSing I didn't have much in the CPS region tbh. Am due in the next day or so, so am trying to be patient and leave the clear blue in the cupboard. Can I ask what sort of test an FMU is?

Would love to take you up on that hot whiskie drinkie but I'm on sips of water today as I have a tummy bug.

Welcome and Congrats Squirrel. You're very keen looking to get knocked up so soon after getting hitched. It's well worth it though

squirrel007 · 29/07/2010 15:28

Hello justshagging we're off to Africa on safari, it's going to be great!

Going to restart my exercise routine in preparation, it got a bit neglected during the run-up to the wedding. Plus I already bought some folic acid - now I just need some patience!!
