Thanks for your reply, my OH G knows all about the demons, but we have waited a couple of years to get married so a couple of months shouldnt kill too much, I hope!!!

It's so exciting to start thinking about the probability though, will just have to be a bit of a bridezilla to distract me in the meantime!!!

Good luck with the waiting Amanda!

AmandaCooper · 17/03/2010 21:46

Welcome BabsH, don't risk spending your wedding day puking! It's so close - and a honeymoon baby would be lovely. My doctor told me women have a surge of fertility when they come off the pill, so you could fall straight away - you just might have problems accurately working out your due date I think if you don't know your cycle.

My plan (I think!) is to start using condoms from October for a couple of months before I start TTC. Assuming I don't cave before then of course lol.

BabsH · 17/03/2010 20:32

Hi there,

I'm new to the site but I thought that I would add to this thread.

My other half and I are getting married in July and I have promised him that I wouldn't get pregnant till after then, have just shifted onto the pill after the three monthly injection and it's causing my hormones to go wild!!!

I was broody before, but now I keep having the thought that if I didn't take my pill he wouldn't really know for a while and I wouldn't show much in my wedding dress!Of course I won't go behind his back but it is hard work!!!

How long might it take for the pill to wear off after I stop taking it? I guess it might take up to a year, but I would love the idea of a honeymoon baby

Good luck everyone else,

b

AmandaCooper · 17/03/2010 20:14

It's too soon to despair though Bebe - couldn't things resolve themselves by December? You might get new tenants before you know it.

Yes everyone seems to be either pregnant or has just had babies. Two sisters at once is a bit of a pill to swallow - however: Congratulations on more nieces and nephews!

I'm fairly safe with my sister at the moment as she's getting married in June and I doubt they've got any babies planned till then. After June though I don't know. I want to be first!

iwantanother1 · 17/03/2010 19:58

iv just found out my little sis is pg my older sis is pg with her 2nd her oldest is 6 mos younger than my youngest and my aunt is pg and everyone on tv is too

i watch OBEM and think cant wait to do it again till they say about the ring of fire then it brings a tear to my remebering it

bebejones · 17/03/2010 11:17

Just found out that my friend who has a DD just a couple of months older than my DD is expecting number 2! She is 14 weeks. Feeling very low about it, she is my closest friend (location wise) and our DD's play together often. She always said she didnt want another til her DD was at school.

Just feel like there are so many obstacles in my way & that it is never going to happen!

OP posts:
bebejones · 17/03/2010 08:33

I must be very odd, I watch it & want to do it even more!!

I'm really feeling that its 2 steps forward & 1 step back for us at the moment. Ever time we can see the light at the end of the tunnel someone/something turns the light off! It is so frustrating! Not least because it is pushing TTC further & further back. I only just got DH to agree to a 'date' & had told all medical professionals that was the plan & now it's looking unlikely we will be able to TTC in 9 years let alone 9 months!

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 17/03/2010 07:28

Oh Bebe that's bad news. My indecisive DH Is just a minor frustration really, I'm sticking with the policy of ignoring him when he does this. I think he just feels out of control. Iwantanother I'm sorry to hear about your mc too. It must have effected you both terribly, particularly if you've got stuff going on with the family.

I suppose our three situations are pretty normal in that we, fuelled with broody hormones want to rush blindly in, while our non-broody partners watch baffled on the sideline, worrying about the sensible, practical things - the money, our health, our emotional wellbeing. Watching OBEM last night DH said "without this mad rush of instinct overriding sanity the human race would have died out by now - how can you watch that and want to do it?"

bebejones · 16/03/2010 19:05

Amanda - That was what my DH had said 1st time, 'we will at some point blah blah' 'soon' 'next year', it actually made it easier to trick convince him! Hope he comes round soon!

Iwantanother1 - So sorry about you MC

We have had a setback too. Financial situation was beginning to resolve, things were looking positive for the 1st time in 2years nearly. This evening our tennents in our old flat have given us their months notice! Now we've got to find their deposit money, money for works that need doing desperately if we are going to rent it out again, new tennents & money for 2 mortgages! Just so sick of all this crap & bad luck that keeps happening to us!

AmandaCooper · 15/03/2010 18:06

Hi Iwantanother welcome to the thread! Well girls yet another setback. DH has changed his mind yet again and wants to put TTC off to some indeterminate date in the future. "Financial situation and blah blah blah".

matumble · 14/03/2010 19:39

they are on offer in argos at the moment, the jumbo ones are £6.66 which is cheaper than the large (next size down) and they are huge. mine are the first grandkids and we are the first to have children in our close friends group so ours are similarly spoilt rotten.

hi iwantanother, im new on here too, waiting till at least the summer as i want to lose a good chunk of weight before we try again. welcome

iwantanother1 · 14/03/2010 16:52

hi all can i join please dp wont let us start till aug when iv be off the pill for 6 months i want to try now

bebejones · 14/03/2010 15:38

Seems that's what people do in a recession...not enough money to go out!! I really need some of thos vacuum bags. DD has 4 large platic boxes full of outgrown clothes & she still has a wardrobe full of stuff! Biggest problem is over indulgent grandparents as DH & I rarely buy her any toys/clothes/books...we don't need to! I'm an only child so my mum is especially guilty of spoling her rotten!

We did ebay a load of stuff lately which was fab!

OP posts:
matumble · 14/03/2010 14:03

I know both of those feelings bebejones. our main problem is we had a huge clean for family coming last weekend (8 adults and 5 children in a 3 bed house!) and obviously it ended up pretty messy and i havent found the motivation to get it sorted out properly since. far too many clothes all over the house, plus i have been losing weight so all the clothes that dont fit keep ending up in the wash and back in my clean washing, its a bit of a vicious cycle. have broken the back of downstairs today though. DH back to work on tuesday after a weeks leave and that will get my head straightened out.

Im seeing bumps everywhere too, i have a friend due in 2 weeks, 3 due in may and one in september too so theres a tiny hint of jealousy and a fairly large dose of am i mad! we went into town yesterday and there were bumps and newborns everywhere.

good luck spring cleaning, we use vacuum bags for outgrown clothes and freecycle to get rid of things we dont need anymore, it works pretty well, if only i could vacuum pack their toys!

bebejones · 14/03/2010 13:31

Matumble - Have been having a spring clean this weekend & was grumbling to DH that DD has too much stuff. We only have 1, can't imagine how much we would accumulate with 2+ Seriously thinking about telling people to stop buying us things for Birthdays/Christmas, we are running out of room!! Need a house just for DD's things!

Keep seeing PG people everywhere! Getting impatient now & still got 9months to go!!

don't worry for now im waiting Amanda, thats why i came to this thread, strengthen my willpower a little!

Hi pipoca, the three i have are hard work but they are brilliant kids and im very proud of them, 1 to 2 was harder than 2 to 3 was, id heard others say it before and been sceptical but found it true. 1 to 2 you have to learn to slow down, number 3 doesnt slow you any further and with a few systems in place things work quite well, now if only i could get my house running as well as my kids! feel like we have endless amounts of 'stuff' i feel like getting a skip today and binning everything!

pipoca · 12/03/2010 09:26

Hi Matumble 4 DCs, the very thought strikes fear into me! must be a lot of work! I have enough trouble managing with one.
I am waiting AC you can count on me til at least June, despite my little wobble before. My period arrived a few days ago and to be quite honest I was relieved. The idea of giving birth in 2010 is too much, I can't cope with the prospect of having another DC until 2011, seems less frightening somehow when I say it like that. so, June for me and then it'll be almost a year or so before another DC arrives, time to get things a bit more prepared.

AmandaCooper · 11/03/2010 20:22

Oh gosh now we need another new thread for people who don't know whether they're waiting or not lol! I don't know when I've ever come across anything as crazy as the planning a baby process! It sounds like you recommend it though?!

matumble · 11/03/2010 20:12

funny you should say that Amanda DH is in the RAF so you're probably not far from the truth! in general its pretty chaotic but good fun, made more so by the fact the eldest is just turned 5, middle is 3 next month and baby is 8 months so no wonder its chaos!

as for a date its a bit fluid we want a gap of between 18 months and 3 years (all the others have a 2 year gap) so any time between now and next august though we were looking at the back end of this summer, I need to lose some weight first really though there's a big part of me thinking lets just get on with it! we have never done the waiting thing before and have (believe it or not) had trouble conceiving, less so with each child so I don't want to leave it too long

AmandaCooper · 11/03/2010 19:59

That's funny that you feel that way about your SIL's second baby Bebe, I feel the same way about me and my sister having our first - I'm the oldest. I wouldn't have thought it would be the same with the next one though! Looking on the bright side, if you both stop at two, you will always have the baby of the family, which is pretty special. I think I'd be more jealous if my SIL was having a baby and I knew I'd already had my last LO.

Thanks very much for your advice girls, it's so hard not to be utterly disheartened by DH's disinterest in the whole baby thing. I'm trying to gear myself up to do it, even though it's a really terrifying prospect from any sane person's point of view - and he can't even remember we're supposed to be thinking about it! That made me laugh about your DH Bebe! I think it will come as a total shock to mine when it actually happens too.

Pipoca - Isabel is a lovely name. I don't really know that many Spanish boys names, so I can't help you there. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a DD for you instead!

Matumble - welcome to the thread. How fantastic to be thinking about DC4! I can't even imagine what having 4 DCs would be like - some sort of neverending military operation! Have you and your OH got a date in mind?

matumble · 11/03/2010 16:53

hi all, sneaking in to wait with you if that's OK? we have just made the decision to ttc#4 which is fairly scary in itself but brilliant all the same! part of me is tempted to just not try to stop things but at the same time I want to lose some more weight first (have lost nearly a stone since Christmas) and see how things go for a few months. this waiting lark could be harder than I had thought!

bebejones · 11/03/2010 10:36

I dont think the reality of having a baby & being a father sunk in for DH until he saw the first scan. He went very pale & quiet. He said he hadn't actually thought much about it until that point & he said he still wasn't fully aware of what it meant for him until DD was born! We had agreed to start TTC (or at least not preventing pg!!) and thought it would take a while. Of course I was PG straight away. I remember doing the test one morning and coming back up to bed & telling him I was pregnant. 'Of course you are, typical' was his response!!! Men!!

pipoca · 11/03/2010 08:55

Hi ladies,

currently sitting in a cafe waiting to collect car. I'm supposed to be working, hence laptop and internet access. Not supposed to be MNing!
I already have a name if I we ever have a DD. Isabel. It's my fave by far. If we have another DS some day then a boy's name will be much more complex as it has to work in English and Spanish and there are sooooo few that a) aren't horrible b) work in both c) we both agree on. So, fingers crossed we have a DD if we have number 2!
Amanda I think men, even if they do ultimately want kids, find it hard to actually imagine it. DH wants a sibling for DS and is "with the programme" so to speak on TTC plans but isn't exactly busting a get to go for it. He just thinks, argh broken sleep again. There's no urgency for him at all. Probably the same with your OH, he's probably quite happy to be a dad "someday", just a bit hard for him to get his head round doing something about it in the near future.

Right, must do some work.

bebejones · 11/03/2010 08:15

Amanada - (really forgetful this morning sorry, not enough sleep...stupid cold) I think men sometimes don't think that their work plans have any impact on having a family. Tis womens work after all! Try not to be too disheartened, it may be that he just doesn't think it will impact on plans to TTC!
