Shiney new thread before we drop off the end of the last one!

AC - we had agreed to wait to TTC until we were married...but started TTC (half heartedly) the month before as we thought it would take a while & seeing as the wedding was all booked & actually happening we didn't think it'd make much difference. But got PG straight away! Think we only actually did the deed 3 times that month! So in answer to your question no did not wait as long as planned (but not by much) & had been waiting about a year maybe (can't remember) had been taking the folic acid etc for a few weeks too. But I do wish I had lost weight before, looking back I wish I had lost more weight before the wedding, but my dressmaker was getting hacked off & I'd only lost about 10lbs!

Pip - very exciting, very that you will be graduating from here so soon though!

I know what you mean bebe! Got my period today, so only one more period before TTC and I keep thinking...hmmm only one more, why not just start now? But I might get pregnant immediately and it would be better in that case if we didn't NPP til after my next period, and it's only another month, but my word it's tempting. never been so leased to get my period means I'm another step closer.

Have started folic acid so I feel like I'm doing something. I think the nearer it gets actually the more frustrating it is. How are all you ladies holding out with the waiting?

AmandaCooper · 10/06/2010 18:58

Hairy the advent of Part 3 will just depress me!

AmandaCooper · 10/06/2010 18:56

It is very unnatural - we're resisting one of the most base animal urges for a very protracted time despite, at least as far as our bodies can tell, conditions being perfect for reproduction - i.e. stable relationship, comfortable living accommodation, sufficient calories available, etc. My body doesn't know about the loan repayments, how could it!

Here's a question, which people have touched on before at various points, but indulge me:

Those who have been here before, what was your experience last time of waiting to TTC? Did you wait last time and for how long? And did you wait as long as you'd planned, or did you start earlier? And anything else you can tell us basically.

bebejones · 10/06/2010 12:04

Hairy - ooops! Still another 20 pages to fill!!

So fed up of waiting, although got another 6 months yet. Was buying spatone (for me) & multivits (for DD) yesterday in Boots & was so tempted to get prenatal vits for me & DH on the 3 for 2 offer....didn't coz DH would have freaked!!

Totally had enough of waiting now Head is having to over rule heart & that is very un-natural!

Hairy sighs, drums fingers, files nails, taps foot, yawns, looks skywards. All this waiting to TTC is very boring

hairytriangle · 10/06/2010 10:27

Oh woops i started part three cos I thought this was full doh!!!! as you were.

Quodlibet · 08/06/2010 17:22

Hi all

Can I come to the party even though we're unlikely to start TTC that soon? End of the pill for me is partly to see what my body's doing, partly passing the contraception burden over, partly so me and DP have some kind of line drawn in the sand so that I don't feel like I'm taking it without examination forever.

We're having lots of discussions at the moment about when the right time to TTC would be - 2011 will be a big career year for him if all goes well, and he'll possibly be away a lot as a result. 2012 will potentially be a big career year for me as lots of projects come to fruition. And I don't want to wait til after 2012 as physically I think it will only get harder on me - I can feel myself having less energy every year! So we're stuck at the moment. (Thankfully 'waiting til we've bought a house' can be taken out of the equation because we both are under no illusions about being able to do that any time soon, which actually in a way is quite liberating.) This trying to find the right time thing is a right f*cking bind in my opinion. It's actually making my brain ache trying to think about it - I'd love someone to give me another way of looking at it.

Short rant over. As you were. I'll happily munch some folic acid vol au vents in the mean time.

hairytriangle · 08/06/2010 17:09

woop, hcg is down to 56

PipocaThePedantic · 08/06/2010 10:30

laughing at this part...."a moderate intake may correlate with a higher frequency of intercourse".... the women who drink get the drunken horn more often?

PipocaThePedantic · 08/06/2010 10:28

Just about to read the article, thanks for the link amanda.

Hope everyone is well, got my folic acid today! . Have taken the first one!

AmandaCooper · 07/06/2010 23:09

Ooh 24 Sept is a Friday Bebe - better for therapeutic boozing! Good call!

AmandaCooper · 07/06/2010 22:53

hairytriangle · 07/06/2010 20:03

woops, all typo'd by the excitement of being allowed to drink moderately to help with TTC'ing!

hairytriangle · 07/06/2010 20:00

what Pip sai!???!!!

PipocaThePedantic · 07/06/2010 19:29

What's this "women-who-drink-moderately-are-more-likely-to-get-pregnant" business?

bebejones · 07/06/2010 19:23

Oh yes, virtual party sounds fab, Pregnacare vol au vent anyone?! However I shall be virtual partying on the 24th Sept which is (hopefully) my last injection, can TTC from 24th Dec! It is already my favourite & best Christmas present!

Hairy - glad you are as ok as you can be, hope work wasn't too bad

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 07/06/2010 18:52

It will be great when we get to September - we should schedule a virtual party on 1 September with virtual booze for those who are abstaining, real booze for those still chugging away on a women-who-drink-moderately-are-more-likely-to-get-pregnant ticket, symbolic crushing underfoot of the much hated pill, and folic acid with a variety of dips!

AmandaCooper · 07/06/2010 18:39

Yes that would be awful. DH would always have a niggling doubt about it being an accident and even if he didn't, I'd feel like he did.

PipocaThePedantic · 07/06/2010 15:33

I'm not that far ahead of you all then, the plan is to have this period that I'm due any minute and then a period in July and start SWI from about mid July, will be ovulating around end of July.

Going to doc to get folic acid tomorrow as I've been reading a lot about how you should take it a while (as much as up to a year) before ttc.

hairytriangle · 07/06/2010 15:24

AC glad you are moved in.

bebe back at work today and feel ok, have done 11.00 til now, and will prob stay til five.

I'm waiting til Sept too -roooool oooon September!

thanks pipoca I'm doing ok today

PipocaThePedantic · 07/06/2010 10:10

Oh, that's a nice name! So many really OLD MAN names around at the mo (I know a Monty, Alfred, Francis and a Stanley...don't like any of those names) but George is v nice I think.

Did you read the thread in chat about the woman getting pregnant despite using condoms? Gnaah! Freaked me out a little!

bebejones · 07/06/2010 09:59

Morning all! Another one with odd dreams here! Do have the occasional baby/pg dream too, which is nice & frustrating all at the same time!

AC - glad you are moved in I hated unpacking when we moved house. I still have a couple of unpacked boxes upstairs we have lived here 3 years!!!

So worried that coz we are only using condoms I might get PG accidentally, BIG no no on the meds! Although at the moment with one thing and another there is little 'action' which is prob a good thing! Can't wait til Sept!! Final countdown to TTC from there!

Hairy - hope you are ok

Baby nephew has been named finally, George

OP posts:
PipocaThePedantic · 07/06/2010 09:50

My dream (in the hour between DH getting up for work and DS waking at a quarter to farking seven ) was about not being able to get to sleep .

Glad you've done the move Amanda..now the mammoth task of unpacking! I know what you mean about worried about giving in to broodiness, as we're getting closer I'm quite tempted to throw caution to the wind, but it would be much much better if I didn't get pregnant til at least Aug, and it wouldn't kill me if it took a little longer.

I've got quite lot of work on at the mo, which is good but worries me about how I'll manage with a mat leave (am freelance and if gone for long will lose all my clients) and with a newborn and a toddler. I am pretty much the breadwinner so it's a bit scary.

Anyway, must run, hope Hairy is feeling OK and hello to everyone else, hope bebe's little nephew is doing well. Any names for him bebe?

Will no doubt be back once I've got bored with work.....

x

AmandaCooper · 07/06/2010 08:52

Quodlibet when I talked to him and suggested what you had said, DH said that one of the reasons he is wanting to leave his job now (he hasn't actually quit yet) is to get a stable job before DC come along. He thinks the company he works for will eventually go out of business and he would then lose his job at a really bad time - so he wants to look now.

When did you say you were thinking of TTC? If you are coming off the pill in September maybe your timings are simililar to Bebe's and mine? We're both hoping to try from December - which is now only six months away!!

SoppySue one more pill for you!! I still haven't decided yet whether to start another pack on Thursday! We'll have to see how I feel. Seems a bit inconvenient now going back to condoms when TTC is still a long way off. Also what if we give in to our MASSIVE broodiness? Pleased to report my dream last night was about making a lasagna - so probably safe for now!
