Shiney new thread before we drop off the end of the last one!

Think I just feel a bit gutted about the weight gain as I have worked so hard this year in preparation to TTC. Had lost about 4 stone & think I've put about 6lbs back on in the last few days! Might have to go get some Baileys Haagan Daas, yum, I hate Baileys but can't get enough of it in ice cream form!

Can't get TTC out of my brain today...5 months (ish) to go...hurry up!!!!

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 08/07/2010 09:57

Yeah - ISWYM. So many considerations!!!

Trek to tesco would be so worth it. I now keep my freezer stocked with ice cream as DH LOVES it. Haagen Daas Dulce de Leche...... [salivating smiley] I could eat a bowl fo it right now but as it's only 10am I had better stick to fruit!!!

Don't worry about the weight gain. It's totally normal with steriods and I am sure that as soon as you come off them you will loose it all. Stressing yourself out about you weight will only make you fee worse - trust me, I;ve been there!

bebejones · 08/07/2010 09:49

Might have to trek to Tesco (isn't actually a trek but will feel like it) and get some ice cream. Just need to persaude my legs to carry me! 3 more days of the poxy horrid steroids for me, really need to get off them & back on the diet, am piling the weight back on can just tell!

I'd love to have a bit of the excitement of monthly testing for a bit this time...but not too long! A Sept/Oct baby would be best for us. November wouldn't be too bad, but Dec/Jan would be really tricky & I don't think I would want to stop for a couple of months if we haven't had a BFP in time IYSWIM?

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 08/07/2010 09:28

Hmmm - can you got Haagan Daas on the way home from the test?? If not then a I guess a family sized bar of galaxy wil do!!

Things all good down there when I was last checked but got to keep on top of the smears which sadly means one a year for me grrrrrrrr!!

Next one due in Dec/Jan which is handily 3 months before we start TTC!

AC - i have no prior knowledge on the catching front but I am sort of hoping that it takes a couple of months for a few reasons:

  1. so that DH can get used to the idea!

  2. so that I am due after xmas (I never liked the idea of a birthday too close to xmas)

  3. so that I can do the 2011 wedding season without having to worry about everybody guessing that I am PG (I have been known to knock back the champagne and any other alcohol and so it would be instantly obvious that I was PG if I wasn't drinking!!)

  4. So that i can have a few months of the excitement and dissappointment of testing so that when I get my BFP I am even more happy than if I had got it straight away.

Probably very stupid and shallow reasons (particularly 2&3) but in a perfect world I'd liek to catch in June of next year. Fingers crossed!!!!!

bebejones · 08/07/2010 09:06

AC - I wouldn't know about whether its best to catch straight away or not. Think if I don't 2nd time around it will be a bit weird as it happened so fast last time. I think this time it might help DH if it took a while, but would probably make me even scarier and more obsessive & jumping him every chance I get!

Shagging - How horrid for you having to have cells removed. Hope things are ok for you now?

No nice plans after smear test (should have got some Haagan Daas in ), don't even have any cake left in the house! And definately won't be feeling up to any sexy time with DH later!

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 08/07/2010 09:00

Sorry justshagging - X post

JustShaggingForNow · 08/07/2010 08:59

Good luck with your smear bebe. Never a fun experience but a positive step towards getting ready for TTC

I had some surgery to remove pre-cancerous cells a couple of years ago and now the smears don't seem too horrific!!! I still panic about them though and have to go through an elaborate waxing ritual so that the nurse doesn't think I'm untidy!

Have you got anything nice planned after the test?

Oh - and don't worry about obsessing - here is a pretty safe place to do so as we're all feeling the same!!

AmandaCooper · 08/07/2010 08:58

Do you think it's better to catch month 1, avoiding any disappointment, or is it better to catch month 2 or 3, by which time your experience of testing negative has validated your decision to ttc at all IYSWIM?

JustShaggingForNow · 08/07/2010 08:54

LMAO AC

My DH was very similar to begin with but now things have improved significantly and we just enjoy it. He's really looking forward to the green days where he doesn;t ahve to use them though!!

Persona is reasonably expensive but you can get 8 sticks on Amazon for just over £7 which is less than the price of a cocktail on a night out so I don't mind too much. It means that my body is free of hormones for when we do start TTC and also means we don't have to use condoms all the time (which are pretty unsexy and make me feel like a teenager - not in a good way either!!)

Bebe - it must be so hard for you with so many different decisions to make when it comes to having another little one.

bebejones · 08/07/2010 08:47

X Post AC!

Oh dear, maybe it was just nervous gitters, he might improve as he gets more into the habit?! Although can't have helped you feel...erm...in the mood!!!

OP posts:
bebejones · 08/07/2010 08:44

Just read that back this morning & realised my train of thought wasn't obvious! Meant to say in the first paragraph that I sort of missed out on all the excitement (nervousness) of 2WW and testing coz I caught so early! Had what I thought at the time were period pains for nearly 2 weeks but no signs of AF. Must have been implantation pains or something. Plus I was very over anxious about AF turning up as I didn't want it on my wedding day & was trying to get some drugs from GP to stop it, but couldn't have them if there was a chance I was PG! All a bit of bad planning really!

Hope everyone is ok today, any plans? Got the dreaded smear test later...YUK! But at least it will be done out of the way then & I can (hopefully) just get on with TTC when the time comes. As soon as Decembers AF arrives I am getting straight on that September bus. (And hoping that OV doesn't happen before the 24th & I am free from drugs!!) At the moment FF has me predicted as starting AF 15th/16th Dec which would be perfect but we shall see what happens with my cycles when I stop the drugs! Sorry, obsessing again!

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 08/07/2010 08:36

Yeah you won't know till you get there, and we're probably talking around 18 months down the line, so don't worry too much.

Sorry if this is tmi but stopping the pill seems to have ruined my sex life. DH is utterly paranoid, wanted a condom on before I even came out of the bathroom, checked the use by date, accused me of keeping them at the back of the drawer on purpose so he couldn't find them, and then (really tmi, sorry) constantly checked that it was still in situ!

bebejones · 07/07/2010 21:37

I just knew I was PG with DD. Tested 3 days before AF was due & got a very strong BFP. I just felt different, very hard to explain. Got told off by GP for testing so early, and have to say it did make the whole process drag somewhat. Especially since I was so sick & didn't really want people knowing why. Caved at 10weeks and had to tell people as I had been off work for a month!

Nice of your DH to set up FF on your phone! My DH is getting me an iPhone, am so excited! Won't be the iPhone4 as network has none left , but still v excited!

Also been doing some planning as to what to do about meds etc after DC2 arrives. There is eveidence to suggest that BF can help supress relapses (something to do with hormones) but I had a terrible time BFing with DD & it only really applies if you can do it exclusively. Just trying to weigh up what is best really. BF or not BF & start new drugs straight away. Is it better for LO to be BF or for them to have a healthy mummy? If only there was some guarantee that BF would work better next time round! Think I have sort of decided that I will give it 6 weeks to establish BF properly & if it doesn't happen I shall go onto the new drugs so I can be healthy for my family. Although this is subject to change when the wind changes drection!

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 07/07/2010 21:27

I've been doing the same, working out the practicalities in my head. Started wondering if it wouldn't make sense to have LO before the summer holidays, so my mum (who's a teacher) would be around. DH thinks not! He has, however, just set up Fertility Friend on my mobile for me, with only a bit of "it'll be a long time yet" muttering.

I'm starting to realise that there's a pull of excitement about the ttc process. It never really caught me before now, but I'm starting to succumb to it. Once you start with all the highs and lows of the trying and the waiting and the testing it must get really addictive.

bebejones · 07/07/2010 21:04

Just been thinking about how I would fit things in, general day dreaming about having a LO around the house again. Thinking about practicalities & bizarely daydreaming about actually being PG again. I rememeber hating it but now just can't wait to have a bump again. Think coz I was overweight last time I felt a bit like I just looked fat rather than pregnant, especially since DD was actually fairly small! So will be interesting to see if having lost 4 stone I actually look pregnant this time around!

Oooh I'd love a pizza, not good for my diet tho! MIL is coming on Friday & we are having chinese...can't wait! (I know that's sad but I love it & haven't had one in ages!)

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 07/07/2010 20:45

Just scoffed a massive greasy pizza, so right there with you. DH is now playing on his decks very loudly in the lounge so I have gone for a lie down!

What sort of planning?

bebejones · 07/07/2010 19:51

I'd love a glass of vino but unfortunately doesn't mix too well with all the crap medication I'm taking at the moment!

Think I would find Persona far too risky. I know I really really shouldn't get PG before I have 3 months free of the jabs & I think it'd be sods law I'd be one of the few for whom it doesn't work!

Have had a medicinal slab of ginger cake & now am going to kick back and 'watch' the football with DH . Need to get my diet head back on, really hoping GP doesn't tell me to carry on with the steroids 2moro, they make me feel like utter crap!

Been doing lots of planning (in my head) about babies today, must be the vivid dreams stirring up all those crazy hormones again. Plus the deliciously cute 10week old bubba at toddlers today...who incidentally has the same (relatively unusual) name as me!

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 07/07/2010 19:38

Have just finished work. All vino gratefully accepted and much appreciated

AmandaCooper · 07/07/2010 19:20

I looked at Persona but it is ridiculously expensive! £12.99 for 8 sticks? That's outrageous!

All those eggs and only one or two will become new people. Got to at least try to maximise their chances and not get carried away in a fog of oxytocin!

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 07/07/2010 19:07

Apparently sanity wasn't at Morrison's. Just lots and lots of clearblue tests. They weren't there last week I'm sure. Grrrrrr.

To make matter worse, the combination of a cold and period pains have been reminding me of the morning sickness I had with DS. Hurry up Friday!

NoMoreBikkies Cracks open a bottle of vino and passes it around.

JustShaggingForNow · 07/07/2010 12:48

Definitely a biological urge!!

Having just started using Persona I have a lot of red days where it's not considered safe to UPS.

DH keeps on complaining about it and I have explained it to him but he still gets frustrated. I've told him that he can check the monitor but he keeps on saying that he trusts me........... very naughty but it is quite tempting to "make a mistake" on the monitor. Especially as I am on CD12 today..... [evil hormonal smiley]!! Damn hormones clouding my judgement!

bebejones · 07/07/2010 11:48

Seriously, if one more person today says 'your DD is so cute, when are you having another one' I am not responsible for my actions! Blinking toddler group & the gossiping mummy brigade!

Biscuits - I have pretty much convinced myself I will get PG quickly & have a boy stupid hormones! When you find out how to regain your sanity let me know!

Shagging - I'll have some of that patience please...oooh and a bacon sandwich!

AC - Hope you find those hormones! I had a moment of 'I'm OV would it be SO bad if I got PG on my meds' yesterday.....then common sense kicked in!

Sometimes I feel so bad that I'm letting all these eggs go to 'waste' by waiting! Must be some kind of in built biological urge type thing willing me to get PG constantly!

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 07/07/2010 09:34

Sanity??? remind me of what that is again will you NoMoreBikkies!!!

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 07/07/2010 09:27

AC - I'm worried if I wait for things to get better n a few months I'll end up with a 10 year gap between DS and DC2. Things have improved, we are working to make things better and damn it I WANT A BABY!!!

I'm with BBJ, having baby stuff in the house already makes it impossible not to think about it. Especially when the new born clothes are right next to the toddlers clothes in Boots and Next (after a quick trip to MC on Sat I'm so happy I have to go out of town for them!)

To make matters worse I'm now convinced I'm going to have a DD very soon. My goodness I'm not even TTC yet! NoMoreBikkies skips of to find someway of regaining her sanity.

JustShaggingForNow · 07/07/2010 09:19

Good morning ladies!!

I have got a shed load of patience in my bag, (plently to go around!!) as well as some mimosas, some bacon sarnies and a pile of comfy cushions. Park your bum and tuck in!!!

Not feeling too horifically broody today - hurrah! but am due to see a friend's cute 8 month old twin boys on Saturday so that may well soo go out the window!!!
