Did a clearblue pg test yesterday afternoon and there is the faintest of faintest vertical lines. Might it be an evaporation line? Does anyone have any experience of evaporation lines on pg tests?

DS is 8.5 months old - I stopped bf before Christmas and haven't had AF yet. Been feeling nauseous which is why I tested. I'm supposed to be going back to work soon. He doesn't sleep very much. I don't think I could cope with an 18 month age gap. We can't afford another baby. We live in a teeny tiny flat nowhere near any family.

Going to buy some more tests this afternoon and test again and tomorrow morning.

Please someone tell me it will be ok if I am as I can't quite see how at the moment.

Thanks messygarden

Right. Going to stop panicking, stop speculating, and find out for sure what's going on. Will go to the chemist as soon as DS wakes up.

Will post with test results x

But poor old DS1 won't know any different will he? He won't feel hard done at all (well, beyond normal sibling rivalry), don't worry about that. Imagine if you waited 3 years before TTC, he'd be well used to it being just him, and a new baby would be a real shock to the system. There are pros and cons to every age gap, please don't worry about that.

why don't you think of it as a positive for your DS - a sibling born when he is still a baby will grow up alongside him.

I have a little more between mine (24 months) but I would have chosen a smaller gap if I could have got pg quicker.

You won't be able to give your DS the time and attention he's used to once you have a newborn (this is the tough phase I am referring to), but your DS will have a new dimension to his life instead. Also, think from the point of view of 2nd and subsequent children - they never get any time alone with their mothers as by the time they are born, there are already siblings.

Honestly, if you are pg and you have an 18 mth gap, you'll be congratulating yourself in a few years

Thanks messygarden.

Part of me is worried because I would feel so guilty and sad for DS if I had another baby so soon. He's only a baby himself and I don't understand how I would be able to give him the time and energy he needs and deserves if I had a newborn to look after.

He's asleep at the moment but I'm going to get more tests this afternoon. Still clinging on to the evaporation line theory.

I know it would all work out because it would have to but just arrrrrrrrrrgh

Don't panic.

If you have an 18m age gap, it will be tough at first, but not for too long. After a while, it will be fabulous and 2 kids so close in age will be great friends and entertain together. My 2yo is far easier to entertain when my 4yo is here.

You know how to do all the baby stuff, they can share stuff (like a changing mat, crap example, but ykwim).

My neighbour has boys in year 2 and year 3. They are such great friends and she has a lovely easy time with them. They are always together entertaining eachother.

Thanks Fartle - do you have an 18 month age gap?

I'm so worried about this - mainly about the age gap and work/money issues really.

Argh.

I would think if there is a +ve line, then you are pregnant.

Dont worry - be happy, congratulations!!

Things will work out, and an 18 month age gap is fantastic, calm down, and test again in the morning x

Oh god, just realised I should probably not have posted this in conception. I'm really really sorry if I upset anyone who is TTC I really don't mean to
