oh crapsticks, think I might be pg - please come and tell me it will be ok if I am...

Did a clearblue pg test yesterday afternoon and there is the faintest of faintest vertical lines. Might it be an evaporation line? Does anyone have any experience of evaporation lines on pg tests?

DS is 8.5 months old - I stopped bf before Christmas and haven't had AF yet. Been feeling nauseous which is why I tested. I'm supposed to be going back to work soon. He doesn't sleep very much. I don't think I could cope with an 18 month age gap. We can't afford another baby. We live in a teeny tiny flat nowhere near any family.

Going to buy some more tests this afternoon and test again and tomorrow morning.

Please someone tell me it will be ok if I am as I can't quite see how at the moment.

Know what you mean I was in the same position after DS2 in 2008.

Then over joyed in Nov 2009 when we found out we are expecting DC3.

Looking back I don't know how I could have coped with 3 under 3 years!

Songbird you are very right. Going to get myself back on the pill I think - far too easy with condoms to just think oh sod it, it'll be fine

Another thing for sure - get yourself contracepted (I think I've just invented a new word, and I like it!!!)

But this is good news, your gut reaction was that this is not the right time for dc2. It will happen when you're ready

Morning ladies. I've done the first response test and it is an unequivocal not pregnant.

My sensible head is relieved for all the reasons listed in my first post, but there is a not as small as I would have liked part of me that was disappointed when the second line didn't show up. I suppose I spent yesterday getting my head slightly round the thought of being pg and now that I know I'm definitely not I need to remember that that is what I'd hoped for initially.

One thing's for sure, I'm never using bloody clearblue again!

Ok so I've got the tests but I'm not going to do them until the morning - as pixie says I don't want to get a false negative. I've got a first response AND a clearblue digital so should know in the morning either way.

Thank you so much for all your lovely posts, I'm feeling much calmer now. On reflection I honestly don't think I am pregnant. The line is really barely visible. But if I am I know it will all be ok.

(I think you are) and I think you will be really happy, and dont worry about not giving DS1 time to be a baby, you'll just have 2 babies, just like twins, well kinda... but you see my point

And agree with the other posters, I deffo found the pregnancy harder than when DS2 actually arrived.
And my two are the best of buddies too, it's so lovely to see.
Yes I have survived to tale the tale and as I said can't have been that bas as we have DC3 on the way, DS2 is currently 21 mths.

There's a 14 month age gap between me and my brother (he's older) and it was lovely growing up having a sib so close in age - it was when my little brother arrived 3.5 years later the problems started , only joking....

You should really wait until the morning to test again. Your urine will be much weaker in the afternoon and you might get a false negative which will get your hopes up And maybe get a Clearblue Digital which will tell you in text if you are pg or not - that way you won't be worrying about evaporation lines?

I have 19 months between my eldest 2 - now 5 and 3.7 - would not change it for the world - the pregnancy was much harder (carrying ds1 who didn't walk till 17 months etc) than looking after a toddler and a newborn - ds2 was so amazed just sitting in a bouncy chair watching ds1 potter about and from the moment he could move they have been best friends and are curently inseperable. It's fab!

I know what you mean. My brother has two boys, only 11 months between them - ouch! I always thought they'd both suffer, but they've been absolutely fine, and are best buddies.

Wow, 14 month age gap and you survived to tell the tale, that gives me hope

It really is the faintest of faint lines. Barely there at all. I'm sure I'll be posting back later saying sorry for the false alarm, thanks for the support etc etc

i have an 18 month gap and it's absoulutely brilliant, the pregnancy i'll admit was a bit tough as dd only learned to walk at close to 15 months so i spent most of the pregnancy carrying her but once ds1 was born it was brilliant... they've been best frineds since the moment he was born

you'll love a new baby just as much as your ds and on top of that huge love for each of them as individuals you'll have a whole new surge of love for both children combined... how they behave towards each other and that extraordinary sibling bond.

You will be fine, as will the age gap. There is only 14 months between DS1 and 2. It was tough at first (couple of weeks I mean) but am so pleased we had them close together. Same circ as you re finishing BF'ing and then no AF.
I am now 17 weeks with DC 3, bigger gap this time though will be 27 months between this one and DS2.

Songbird x-posts, I guess you're right. He's just my pfb and I love him so much. I just can't imagine loving any other baby as much but I guess all mums feel like that until number 2 arrives? Oh crap feeling all teary and emotional now, thank god I namechanged for this!
