Hi!
A little about me - I'm pushing 34, have a 10 month old DD that I'm still breastfeeding and really want to conceive no.2 asap!
I am on my second cycle since AF returned and am temp / CM / CP charting using fertility friend and have OPKs!
I ovulated on day 29 of my last cycle, and am on day 21 at the moment.
Have been having fun and games with very fertile signs over the past week, so lots of BD, but no ovulation, poor DH is full of a cold and not feeling very energetic but I keep insisting that he perform until my temps go up

So anyway - hoping that there are others out there in a similar boat who can help to keep me sane and hopefully share some good news in the coming months.

sbf DS is now about 26lbs (not that i've weighed him for ages just a guess!)

night feeds aaaaahhhh we are increasing them not decreasing. Something tells me I might be on this thread for a loong time! At what age (if ever!) did your DCs drop night feeds? I know he's my 3rd but I just can't remember how old the others were lol

jetli take heart. This time it could just be the BF taking the time. I sure hope so for you.

Bird do you have a marketable product there he all new Birdonthewing TTC kit make some money out of it to pay for a new pram/sling/cot/mattyclothes for the new baby!

queenfee for your BFN.... that you get to have another go this month!

Re baby carriers, I am a bit of an addict, but my preferred method of back carrying is my patapum - 55% of her weight goes on my hips making it much more sustainable than any of my others (ring, close, babybjorn). Failed again on the swinging her over my shoulder technique today - think she may just be a bit too small (she's only 18 1/2 lb), so will stick to the shuffle round from the side!

dita well done on your lack of night feeding - is sure to make a difference.

bird lol at your 'conception kit', especially the head torch! My thermometer has a memory function - the previous reading flashes up for a few seconds when you next turn it on, so even though I take my temp in the dark and 3/4 asleep, I check it in the full light of day when my brain is working!

I think my DD had her first temper tantrum at about 9 months

jetli for your BFNs - hope you get either AF or a BFP soon so that you know where you are.

Not a fan of drambuie or whisky, so I'll be cracking open a bottle of wine - anyone else is welcome to a glass

JetLi · 05/03/2010 18:57

Ooooh - now there's an idea bird - I have a bottle left from Burns Night 2 years ago - it's HoF's own but honest its v.nice

Birdonthewing · 05/03/2010 18:52

Thanks JetLi

I could do with one (although perhaps a little nip of single malt if it's on offer?) after the tantrum DD had in a gift shop today. The worst ever (so far)... I was totally stressed out by the whole experience. Lost my cool, forgot my "Keep Calm and Carry On" mantra, and ended up leaving my purse behind as a result of the embarrassment of it all. Surely 15 mo is too early to be having toddler tantrums???

Gosh, am I even ready for #2?!

Yeah, go on then... Just hoping my stressy head doesn't hamper ovulation!

JetLi · 05/03/2010 18:09

Evening all - circa day 31-ish.... Done 2 eBay cheapo's and both were negative but still no period - bummer.....
Last month was a 31 day cycle so I'm somewhat Once the bloody thing arrives then I'm going to start the Maca again - I counted up what I have left & I have 40 days worth. I'm not sure I have the energy for BBT, what with all the night feeds.... well it would prove difficult, but I like the idea of a headtorch bird!!!
I used to get ovulation pain, but this month it seemed to be unrelated to the EWCM which doesn't make sense Maybe I need ovulation sticks or persona?
Anyway have a good weekend all. Since not up-duffed I think a small Drambuie may be in order this evening. Would anyone like one?

Birdonthewing · 05/03/2010 17:48

So, off I went to DH's conference armed with Persona monitor + sticks; OPKs; jar (for peeing in - sorry TMI!); BBT; head torch (for those early morning temp readings); pencil + pad; Agnus Castus; Vit B; and TTC Multivits... Felt like a bit of a spotter Ã?Â? with a strange hobby! All I need now is a scope, Dita. Had a nice time (Bournemouth - great place) and have been BDing as much as poss since then [exhausted emoticon].

Am on CD 15 now. Still not sure if I'm definitely ovulating, as BBT temps have yet to show a sustained rise, BUT had '+' OPT on CDs 13 and 14, 'peak' sign on Persona monitor today, and there have been tiny, sporadic patches of EWCM. I guess we'll see (although DH has begun to suffer from BD fatigue as we approach the most fertile days...typical!)...

Hi to seashore and jetli. Hi again, Montifer; really enjoyed the link you posted for sbf.

It's been a long time coming! And I'm terrified of jinxing it ... Tiptoeing to bed now, night all

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 04/03/2010 22:53

sbf - that is definitely what is happening at the moment. There really is no sign of OV yet this month - a little EWCM yesterday morning but nothing since and certainly not the usual spike in libido that I get! (Much to DH's disappointment!)

DS went from 8am to 5pm with no feed today though which is better than it's been.

Ooh Dita - that sounds good on the sleep front! I am a little

DitaVonCheese · 04/03/2010 22:26

Lol sbf my brain doesn't work quite right these days either!

I am not too far off 34 if that makes you feel any better (it doesn't make me feel any better ).

Scope seems to be working well so far - still a bit startling on the old eyeballs but quite easy to read. Just waiting to see whether I do get that elusive positive. Nothing so far and think I'm on CD13, so clearly my cycle isn't snapping back to 28 days this month. Sigh.

On the plus side, we are doing really well at cutting down on feeds - generally down to one per day out of bed now but the most exciting thing is that DD slept through the night before last (I think - don't remember waking up anyway) and last night didn't wake for a feed until the small hours (rather than ten minutes after I get into bed and then on and off the rest of the night). Really hoping that it continues and that it's sufficient to give my ovaries a kick!

QueenFee · 04/03/2010 21:01

Meant to say had a BFN at my last just in case poas a couple of days ago

Apologies for repeated failure to bold things using []. Brain isn't working as well as it used to.

smallblackflowers · 04/03/2010 20:45

you ladies are making me feel old!

[alibaba] I have read that your cycle is very reactive to the daily variation in feeds, and that cycle lengths can massively increase (due to delayed ovulation) when feeding increases in times of illness and teething etc.

Put off my 2nd feed of the day until after 5pm today - am trying to get DD used to 'milkies in a cup' and she seems to have drunk quite a bit today. Yay.

Failed miserably at the sling the baby over your shoulder to get her into her back carrier manoeuvre. She seemed to end up on outside of the carrier - I only realised this when I asked DH to check how it looked and he told me that she wasn't at all in.
Lucky I didn't straighten up!
Will keep practising.

Hi all

sbf/dita - sounding good in terms of reducing feeds!

Have had an odd couple of weeks, AF was early and light, and OV should be happening now but doesn't seem to be just yet.
V.frustrating, but DS has been feeding more recently - he's back to wanting feeds during the day which we had all but eliminated. Doesn't seem to be reducing his night feeds either - bah.

It's a great trick, just watch out for lightshades

I too seem to be surrounded by pregnancy announcements at the moment and am feeling a bit

smallblackflowers · 03/03/2010 22:01

wow montifer that's much more fun then my shuffle round from the side manoeuvre, will be practising tomorrow and posting my own youtube video!!!

dita please keep updating re your scope success too - I read a few reviews of cheapie ones on amazon and am interested to know about real life experience!!

DD was 1 today - can't believe where the year has gone. can't believe I'm still breastfeeding either! Twas a good day though, culminating in homemade carrot cake and rhubarb and ginger beer. Yummy.

One of my other mummy friends announced she was 15 weeks pregnant today - her DS is 13 months. I was irrationally jealous. However not jealous of my little sister who is 16 weeks pregnant. Told you it was irrational!

Hi all, I popped up on this thread a few pages ago but have been making a very poor effort at TTC so haven't been very vocal.

Am still trying to work out my cycle and managing what SWI we can with DP working ridiculous amounts of overtime at the moment

Just wanted to add this link for sbf

It looks impressive and works a treat

iloveholidays · 03/03/2010 10:48

Hi

Posted a thread a while ago but thought I'd join in again. I'm TTC #2 although no AF yet. DD is 11 months and fed 2-3 days a day (morning, afternoon and before bed). Always had irregular periods and feel fortunate to have conceived DD1, but desperate for another.

I'm taking agnus cactus - any other suggestions to encourage the return of AF? Also, taking ovulation tests daily (cheap ones), but no joy.

Good luck to everyone!! Any suggestions gratefully received!

LittleSilver · 03/03/2010 08:08

LittleSilver, TTC #4, UCL no idea at all, first cycle after giving birth, CD 18, 9DPO. Apparently.

DitaVonCheese · 02/03/2010 22:01

My scope arrived this morning, so I am now blind in one eye from peering into it I don't appear to be fertile right now though, which is a bit of a relief as I'm knackered!

sbf We're also trying to cut down on day time feeds. Today DD didn't ask until almost quarter to five - result Just worried she's going to make up for it at night.

I'm happy to join in the stats thing, if I can remember how old I am and how many cycles I'm up to!

welcome to [seashore] - there are quite a few of us now - what does everyone think of getting a stats list together that we can update when we get a newby?

Sort of like this

smallblackflowers; TTC#2; Cycle 3 (of TTC); BF 12 mo DD; age 34

Dita one of the benefits of having DH at home is that he can help load DD onto my back, although I am trying to train her to stand behind me whilst I am sat on the floor in order to scoop her in.
I have successfully got her onto my back by starting with the carrier on my hip and shuffling it around the back though.

I've completely cut all feeds between the wake up feed and 2pm - will see if that is enough of a shake up to get me back to full fertility this month. Fingers crossed

DitaVonCheese · 01/03/2010 22:07

Oops, had this open for ages on my screen so missed the new posts at seashore - glad you found us

I still feed a lot < at DD> during the night and AF returned at around a year. One of the links above said something like shaking feeds up a bit might be as effective as cutting them out, so that might be worth a go? (The link phrased it a bit better than that, might be worth reading back to check )

DitaVonCheese · 01/03/2010 22:04

Welcome Jetli - hope things happen quickly for you this time round

Lpsmum I felt horrendously sick for most of Saturday, culminating in a massive puke at about 9 pm and an early night, and spent much of it wondering how in hell's name I would cope with morning sickness and a toddler.

sbf I need to practice getting DD on my back. I do still put her in the sling on my front when she really won't nap and I have things I desperately need to do, but unfortunately she finds it far too exciting these days!

Had my second acupuncture session today. Today we concentrated on "nourishing" or something like that, which involved sticking some pins in my calves which really fricking hurt! She didn't take my pulse or look at my tongue today, which I was quite surprised about, as it seemed to be quite important at the last place. Hopefully it's doing some good ...
