Joolsiam · 03/02/2010 09:16

Morning ladies. I really didn't mean to tease or get you all over-excited . All I meant with my post is that, unlike the last two cycles where I've convinced myself, tested and been disappointed, I'm saying nothing till AF is late ! I hate posting on here with promising symptoms, only for AF to arrive.

MLS is obviously keeping tabs on me and will doubtless start nagging for info later in the week

Barbie - am not sure who that text went to, but it wasn't me !!

Curly - I love your massive posts You manage to say all the things I think about as I read the thread, then forget to say

GG - what a week I hope things calm down (although I guess it will only be a brief respite )

Did I read that it is MrsKate's birthday ? If I got that right, hope it is a lovely day

Thinking about everyone, but trying to keep busy and stay away from google and that evil site that MLS linked to, so will log off now

ps - my Saturday gym class starts at 8.45am !

CurlyBigPants · 03/02/2010 05:52

hey all. Doing my usual waking at 4am to get some practice in for future nightfeeds. So excited that I might have baby by the end of this week!!! I just can't get my head around it

mermaid don't be modest - any weekend that begins with the gym at 9am is bloody marvellous let's not mention the steady decline afterwards though Hope you are doing well lovely lady and that you are not having wobbles but if you are make sure you tell us about them. There's always someone in the greenhouse xxx

monkey are you doing okay honey? your poor head must be all over the place at the moment. Here's a massive hug in case you need one and a little tummy squeeze for the bean. Hope the consultants appointment goes well today and yay for the sickness (but not too much) xxx

jools after your post everytime I moved on a page my heart was beating a bit faster is there news lovely lady?

mls I know I shouldn't but had to giggle at your dh and the pizzagate incident. I hope he's made up for it since How is the backache now? Hopefully it won't last too long though I know a lot of people get it for the first few weeks. I can't believe DH doesn't know you are pregnant!!! How are you keeping it in?

moon I'm sending you a massive hug honey and I hope that you manage to have a good birthday despite the memories. I'll be thinking about you tomorrow. We weren't around for your first MC but we are around now and will get you through it. This year will be your year I promise Great to hear the evil witch has departed anyway xxx

lbm I love the name for babybelle. Totally adorable

sabs how is little Saara doing? I've got the same questions as Barbie, particularly on bra size. So sick of constantly buying frumpy bras - it's so against my principles

hey cupcake it does sound like spd but try not to worry. Mine was really bad at about 22-26 weeks and poor dh had to help me get trousers and socks on and off, but it got better rather than worse after that so long as I didn't overdo it. If it starts getting sore, then try and get to bed and lie down flat on your side, or at least on a proper chair. Clenching all your bum and pelvis muscles really worked for me as it seemed to tighten everything up. I was sure I'd end up on crutches but really it has been not too bad How is the househunting going?

baking it's great to hear from you. Hope things are good now with you and DH and yes the Internet is evil.... but it is soo hard to stay away Hang in there, we'll be having that bfp from you soon. Are you still using clomid?

blue sounds like benjamin is thriving lol at you staying at the inlaws to avoid the beer breath. I'm so with you on that one it is especially annoying when I'm not drinking

vjay I'm very excited about the Christening . I have my wings ready - am also contemplating a tutu. Too far? So excited though!!! Shall I bring cake and champers? I still get so chuffed thinking of how far you have come since last year

barbie Grrr at your MIL. Maybe you should change the name and not tell her!!! Yay for having a baby in February though Hope the weebling is getting better honey. I thought this stage would be easy but it's soooo not Big hug for my cycle buddy, it won't be long now xxx

mrskate happy birthday honey!!!! Go on pass us over some cake Can you pass on my love to gracie, what a time she is having, and tell her I am thinking a lot about her at the moment in case she doesn't manage to get online again for a while.

neeko how is your poor dd? thanks for your words to Barbie, I found them really reassuring as well, especially
what your mum had said. We all have ideas of what we want for the birth but it's outcome that really matters Sorry to hear about your SPD but have a read of what I've said to cupcake. It almost always goes away as soon as the baby is born apparently 33 weeks wow!!!!

4ever thanks for offering to be my text buddy. I will keep you posted!!! Hope you are doing okay and baby4ever is behaving Total grrrr at your MIL too. Does she hang out with Barbie's MIL? Just ignore her, we know what a big step it was buying the moses basket xxx

iggy 16 weeks is fantastic. I'll be thinking about you for your scan next week A month from now you'll be getting lots of kicks and will be able to relax a bit xxx

lion great to hear from you and loving the advice. I think I might be pointing a few questions in yours and all the other new mums directions in the next few weeks

Well time I gave sleeping another go so sorry if I've missed anyone out. Lots of love to you all xxx

Lionstar · 02/02/2010 22:40

Thanks MLS I'd forgotten that one is still up. He is rather yummy . I'd also forgotten just how small he looked, it didn't last long - there is NO WAY he'd fit in that moses basket now, in fact he was out of it by about 12 weeks.

MummyLovesSadie · 02/02/2010 22:36

Lion that pic on your profile of ds sleeping with his cuski is just ADORABLE!

Lionstar · 02/02/2010 22:27

So much chat again - I just can't keep up. OK random things whilst I was skim reading.

Slings - I've got the Moby for DS and it's great for having him tucked up close, but it is a wrap sling and when I first opened it I was at just how much material you have to wrap around you. I have to make sure I put it on before leaving for anywhere I want to use it. The Close sling looks a good compromise becuase some of the wrapping has been done for you. I have a Connecta too that I used with DD, haven't tried it for DS, but it was great for a toddler.

Snuggly toys - it's a great idea to sleep with them first. We have the Cuski ones that MLS linked to. DD still sleeps with hers, and I'm sure DS settles better when his is near. You can use a muslin or even a breast pad in the cot too to provide a yummy mummy smell - even if you are a swetty betty barbie! As soon as they start showing a preference then make sure you get a backup and rotate them through the wash (muslin fetishes are good for this reason!)

Sabs read you thread and sounds like you are doing just fine as others have said. Not sure if early weaning will help, I hear so many opinions one way or another - but there are some VERY forceful opinions around it on MN in general . I waited until 6 months with DD as those are the current guidelines.

Gracie glad to hear you are blooming. What a week though I don't know how you survived it so calm sounding. Gold stars for first aid in the middle of church, hope your 'Granny' is feeling better, and your Grandma, and her ex (did I get all that right?)

4ever sorry to hear MIL is taking the shine off your precious moments and totally not getting what it has taken to get you there. As for the competitive parenting thing, you just have to try not to get drawn into the whole game. DPs brother had a baby girl 3 weeks after our DD, and then announced their 2nd pregnancy after I lost mine (now their DD2 is 8 weeks older than DS). DP and his brother sometimes get drawn into a game of whose-baby-is-doing-what and I just try and close my ears. Milestones can vary greatly in the early stages, but most 5/6 year olds are pretty much the same and it all evens out.

Where is jools, she is a tease

blue that does sound like a plan, you need to get some sleep in there somewhere. Those growth spurts are a real bummer - were in the midst of the 4 month one and for the last few nights I've lost count of the times DS feeds - at least 5 (it was 2)!! I'm hoping it will all settle down. Great idea to get babyblue used to a bottle, my boy is a total bottle refuser and I really wish I'd tried to introduce them sooner. He is a total Mummy's boy too (don't you just love them )

Moon just want to send you some hugs for your anniversary, stay strong.

MummyLovesSadie · 02/02/2010 21:58

Don't you just hate it when everyone is all chatty & as soon as you post something it goes quiet!

MummyLovesSadie · 02/02/2010 21:46

Welcome back GG, what a nightmare week for you. I remember you telling us about your 'Granny', didn't she have her birthday party when you were in the early stages of pregnancy & you were desperate for nobody to find out?

MummyLovesSadie · 02/02/2010 21:42

Oh Blue you are funny ! I too typed out Gina's routines & had them on reams & reams of paper! I still have the file on my laptop so if anyone wants me to email it to them??! I think this time around I'm going to be more relaxed about it all . Massive sympathy hug at you crying with tiredness & nodding asleep (& probably getting whiplash in the process) in the rocking chair. Ohhhhhhhh I remember those days so well. Dd always used to fall asleep on me in bed in the middle of the night when I was bf'ing her, I'd fall asleep in neck-crunching head-bobs & be rudely awoken by dh jabbing me in the ribs. Also at night both dh & I would constantly dream that we were sitting in the rocking chair with dd in our lap, slipping away about to hit the floor! That resulted in both of us jumping, spasming, shouting(!)& grabbing each others limbs in an effort to prevent the dd we were dreaming about from landing on the floor - & this happened several times a week!!!

Neeko Yes I AM chilled, honestly! How many more days do you have left now? You must be into single figures. Did my second Sainsbury's hpt today & it was much darker!

Cupcake & 4ever, all you need to worry about in the first few weeks are vests & baby-gros. When you are in hospital you need to have a little knitted cardigan , & a hat too. They spend all day in their jim-jams (lazy buggers!) so you don't really need any proper clothes (coming from the woman who bought half of Ebay trendy-baby section before dd was born & then promptly put it all in the loft, unworn)! They need to wear scratch-mitts as their little nails are as sharp as needles but you will have a problem getting them to stay on. What I found really really helpful were the baby-gros with the scratch-mitts attached. You just kind of fold the end of the sleeve over & hey presto - your mini-Houdini cannot escape!

Moon it's funny how what you were watching on telly when you were going through the dark times really sticks in your mind. I was always a religious viewer of Big Brother, I had watched just about every episode of every series up until last year. I watched them all going into the house & then I had mc number 2 & couldn't face watching the rest of the series. All I could think was "I should be watching this with a big bump, looking forward to my baby being born in the Autumn". I will lend you my battle plan from the loft, you can dust it down & get preparing your onslaught for df when he comes home!

GracieGirl · 02/02/2010 21:28

Evening Neeko!

GracieGirl · 02/02/2010 21:27
  • loving the new smiley!!!

Barbie I sympathise with your problem with having your names broadcasted. My cousin has nicked my name for a boy, though I can't really be angry as we hadn't told a soul so she couldn't have known, I suppose I wasn't really expecting her to queue-jump by 8 weeks! Though I imagine she's wasn't expecting it either! The George will just have to be a girl! or perhaps I'll just carry on calling it The George.

MLS and Monkey I see you've had good news whilst I've been away!

Moon big hug for your anniversary. One year ago today I went for my private scan at 9.5 weeks, poor DH had to drive 2 hours in deep snow cos I was insisting I needed a scan and couldn't wait for my 12 week one. I wish I'd known then that a year later I'd be 39+3 weeks pregnant. Though I know that now and it still hasn't stopped me spending half the day looking through my box of memories of that pregnancy in floods of tears and panicking all day about feeling kicks. The worry of miscarriage never leaves us does it. And only you lot on here would understand my irratic behaviour today, anyone else would tell me to stop being hormonal and look forward to this baby arriving.

Vjay can I still come to your virtual christening if I'm in labour?? I'll try not to make too much noise or mess!

They've closed the road between my house and the hospital for a few weeks for road works - how convenient!!

Neeko · 02/02/2010 21:16

You certainly don't live quietly Gracie Sorry you've had such a horrid time. Hope the baby is punctual and gives you and your family some happy news

GracieGirl · 02/02/2010 21:12

Evening all, Finally got my internet working again after my nightmare week last week. I think Sabs might have updated you on my week. Basically it went along the lines of -
Tuesday my Grandma had a stroke, Wednesday my cousin went into labour at 32 weeks and the baby is still in intensive care due to an infection. Friday the police broke into my Grandma's 2nd husbands house (they are separated)and found him unconscious on the floor after having a stroke and a broken hip. Sunday I went to church and my 90 year old "Granny" (not related but she's been in my life since birth and I'm extremely close to her, we lived next door for years) collapsed unconscious in the middle of the service. I can still manage pretty good first aid even at 9 months pregnant! Despite half the congregation giving me grief for kneeling on the floor in my condition, I think she was possibly safer in mine and my doctor DH's hands!

Hoping for a quieter and calmer week this week - my baby due on saturday.

(computer keeps crashing so going to send this post in bits)

Neeko · 02/02/2010 20:53

Evening all. Just home from after school parent's meeting and I'm knackered BUT it's my last one for aaaages!

4ever Think you hit the nail on the head when you said "In the great scheme of things it matters very little". I know it's annoying but it won't really make a difference. Don't forget napppies and cotton wool in your hospital bag. New baby's skin too sensitive for baby wipes.

Blue/MLS Loving the routine talk. I thought I was pretty strict with DD but you make me feel like a new age mum! Seriously I was pretty routined and think it helped keep DD pretty chilled. The keeping night night and day day thing really worked for us. My DH gave DD a bottle of expressed milk in the evening and it made a huge difference (although sometimes I was so tired that I only sat on the couch and watched them ) Sounds like you're doing a fab job Blue and that Ben is a hungry boy. Would you consider some formula to bag him up a little. DD took a formula bottle at 16 weeks in the evening and started sleeping all night from then on. I remember part of me wanted her to refuse it so only I could feed her

Cupcake/Barbie I'm really looking forward to the baby questions as some feel too silly to ask in real life but no question too silly here! Cupcake I'm strangely very excited by your home hunting Love that smiley!

Moon Hope you have a fab birthday. You can never moan too much on here.

MLS You do sound chilled. Are you really?

MrsKate Happy birthday to you too.

Monkey/Barbie Best of luck to you both for tomorrow.

Sabs Hope your thread (and my reply) has helped. I stressed so much about how much DD was drining once she went onto formula.

bluesatinsash · 02/02/2010 20:04

Forgot to say Sabs - will read your thread x

bluesatinsash · 02/02/2010 20:04

Moon - you WILL have happy memories soon to replace last year's ones. Hope your doing something really lovely and maybe wedding orientated for your birthday to help you move forward x

4ever - I would be just as as you re: your MIL. Have you thought of being open and telling her how you feel? Agree with Neeko that she is probably overcompensating as she is worried about how its all going to pan out for your BIL and Maxine

barbie - would also be flaming mad if anyone told people our names. I never told a soul other than the baby threads on here and DH of course.

Monkey - yay! to feeling sick. Good luck tomorrow and hope to 'see' you soon on FB. not been on there for ages...

Jools

Warning - motherhood reality check coming up...

MLSsnazzynewcar - I not only 'did' Gina Ford/Baby Whisperer with DS1 but typed out charts/wrote feed times in my diary etc. etc. Think her milk/weaning routines are ace and her avoidance of bad habits (not rocking baby to sleep etc)good too. DS1 was a total routine baby; 3 naps a day dropping the late afternoon one first etc. and is still a little anal retentive if his day to awry . I am that DS2 is co-sleeping a big no-no with the books but I'm so bloody tired I can't face the hassle of trying to settle him in his carrycot just now BUT

Had a bit of a problem solving day today after terrible night when Ben fed every 2 hours (classic 6 week growth spurt), I woke up freezing full of cold, beyond tired with return of eye infection. My amazing Mum came to my rescue - again - and took DS1 to mini gyms as I was crying with tiredness and wiped out from all the feeding. Took DS2 up to rocking chair and fell asleep in a nodding head on train way.

Anyway, decided enough is enough and am going to buy a bottle tomorrow so I can express and DH can give Benjamin one bottle at night so I can sleep for more than one hour at a time. It will also help him bond with him as he is such a Mummys boy just now.

So there you go. I have a PLAN.

cupcakefairy · 02/02/2010 19:55

Aw moon sorry, x-post. I really hope your birthday this year will more than make up for a horrible one last year. It's coming up to the time we got our bfp last year and it's so weird to see the 'November ttc bus' popping up on the conception boards...anniversaries are really hard especially with horrible memories attached so massive hugs and hairstrokes to you. And you are not always being miserable..you know you can say whatever you want here.

cupcakefairy · 02/02/2010 19:52

Hi girls.
Hi kate happy birthday for tomorrow! Can't believe you're still working nights you poor girl. Thanks for the gracie update, glad to hear she hasn't popped yet!

Eeee, monkey you're prob in the air now or something but thinking of you lots for the appointment and scan tomorrow.

Barbie I laughed so much at your dh getting over enthusiastic with the (.)(.) I'll be needing so much advice too though... I realised the other day I have NO idea what a baby is meant to wear in terms of layers etc.. so much to learn! Neeko and MLS you're like the supermums who know everything! I'm in awe of the forward thinking, sleeping with baby's toys etc, what a great idea!

Neeko we have 3 more houses to see this week...I'm excited about picking one too just want it to happen soooon.

MLS yay for acupuncture! You sound so zen I love it and I laughed so much at 'up your hole with a ten foot pole' haha!

Joolsthetease hope those symptoms are shaping up nicely!

4ever grr grr and GRR! I'm glad your bil is having a boy though, at least the comparing won't be too bad then.

Hi sabs I did read your thread but also have no clue sorry you're finding it a bit stressful though

Back is much much better and I can walk normally now, YAY!

BlueMoon1981 · 02/02/2010 19:47

ooh perfect i love the new smiley, i have often needed one of those

sorry for not being around much, am having another a tough week because its my birthday on friday, and all i can think about is my first mc, as it was the on 4th the day before that we officially found out the baby was gone i just cant stop thinking about what a terrible time we were going through, how unhelpful the doctors were, how many thousands of blood samples i had to keep giving, how the stupid nurse told me i was still pregnant but made a mistake with the hcg levels, how id never discovered the epu and how naive i was to expect that it was a one off and i never thought for a second it would happen again. it was my worst birthday ever. and i can poignantly remember that on the day, the eastenders storyline was about danielle getting an abortion, and somehow i managed to hold it together through most of the episode, until the doctor said something (now i cant even rememeber what it was) and i just ran out of the room crying with my poor sister and dp (now df ) not sure what to do with me. sorry just had to have a little outburst to get it off my chest. feel bad cuz i always seem to be the one being all miserable. its worse cuz df is working away this week and am on my own, but he will back on friday

on the plus side, just finishing af, so can start practising again once df is home

jools whats going on, is this a cryptic yes you are?!

MrsKate · 02/02/2010 17:31

VJay · 02/02/2010 15:59

sabs I started weaning Ajay at 17 weeks with some rice like mls, don't know if that helps

OP posts:
barbie1 · 02/02/2010 15:56

mls i kid.... i have no idea what to do with a baby at all...im sure i will take bit from her book too, which i have hidden as lots of people do dislike her...however most of the things i shall learn from you lovely ladies....now...can anyone tell me how to put on a nappy

MummyLovesSadie · 02/02/2010 15:46

Well... that did actually come from her book but I wasn't going to tell anybody as I know lots of people hate her! I think as long as you don't follow her routines too rigidly then it's ok. Some people go a bit ott & their whole lives are ruled by their babies.

barbie1 · 02/02/2010 15:42

mls are you g ford in disguise?? ha ha
