4ever I have ordered a special consignment of extra sparkly and irridisent stars to be delivered to you and several for your dh especially.

barbie the sticking on of leaves must have taken you ages it all looks lovely

I also use non bio and have always washed everything new cos of the nasty chemicals they use. I do have eczema myself though so have always been uber careful with ds and his skin.

Have a couple of newborn size, you will always treasure and remember the first one that you, dh and 2 other helpful people help cram your dc into

and someone I can't remember who reminded me of the one most amazing and useful baby item ever on here the other day a grow bag. They are fantastic get one. The brill thing about them is you can feed, change, put to bed with least disturbance and not worry about blankets, sheets etc. They do lightweight ones for warmer temperatures too.
I also found that as ds got older as soon as he saw his growbag he knew it was time for bed and even better it hampers them moving around when they get to that rug rat stage!

lbm hope your curtain making has gone ok, its horrible what triggers these sad memories. Glad you got some exciting post.

neeko you are sounding well and nice to think of you brandishing lists

cupcake its the pits, I expect you are doing a good impression of a flamingo? hope it feels a wee bit better, live in the bath if you can.

On a personal note I have a very sore bottom after getting a little bit too confident whilst ice skating yesterday Love burning off lots of calories and then eating chips mayonaise and gallons of hot chocolate

VJay · 17/01/2010 12:22

barbie I agree with mls and neeko, but also remember dh can nip out and get some things once baby is here and you're still in hospital, that's what we decided to do this time round.

SHhhhhh i didnt want anyone to find out about me and spongebob ha ha

The thread is on the labour forum but now i think its moved to bereavment ....

I think ill wait until 36 week checkup in 3 days time to see if they can tell me rough size of baby and then will invest in newborn sizes if needed.....

We have the sterilizer, bottle warmer, formula all ready and waiting....ill take the bottles out of my hospital bag then !

Im off to the supermarket to get some detergent and stuff, thanks girls for your swift replies!

MummyLovesSadie · 17/01/2010 09:35

Barbie good morning:

Yes 0-3 months are big unless you give birth to a massive baby. I made the same mistake & as dd was only 6lb 13 she had to spend the first couple of days of her life in massively baggy baby-grows until dh could go out & get her some newborn size clothes.

Yes to washing everything in a mild detergent with softener - I always used Fairy. Also they say that you should wash everything before the first wear. That lasted about 2 weeks for me then I decided that it was too much hassle & she never had a problem wearing new things that hadn't been washed first.

No don't pack bottles, they will have them at the hospital but DO buy some (plus formula & steriliser for at home). I used a cheap microwave steriliser. At a lot of hospitals over here, if you are having problems breastfeeding they give the baby a cup rather than a bottle as they try to encourage the baby to lap the milk up like a kitten.

Square bump??? You didn't have a close liason with Sponge Bob Square pants a few months ago did you?!

Interested to know what thread you were looking at?

Neeko · 17/01/2010 09:25

Morning Barbie. You must be exhausted after that post. Glad you're in and sorted.
Don't have definitive answers for your questions but here's what I think.

  1. I'd buy a couple of newborn sleepsuits but not much else a unless your baby turns out to be smallish, they won't last beyond week 2 or 3.
  1. I washed everything in non-bio and used sensitive fabric softener - and still do!
  1. IF you can't breast feed the hospital will probably provide ready-mixed disposable formula bottles for you. They can hardly let your baby starve!
barbie1 · 17/01/2010 08:51

how long?????

Good morning mls and neeko

barbie1 · 17/01/2010 08:50

Hi ladies, pleased to say normality has returned to the barbie household....we are all in, unpacked and dh has returned to work, so its my first day of mat leave that i have been on my own

so much to catch up with so please bear with me if this is a long post.....

Firstly omg 4ever you must of been beside yourself yesterday, thank goodness it was very little to worry about. i think i last had a bleed about 24 weeks, and like you they couldnt really pin point the actual reason. Just take it easy for the next few days and remember call your midwife with any little niggles, its what they are there for!
With regards to the 4d scan, the best time is between 27 and 29 weeks. The baby will put on a little fat and weight by then and the pictures will be so much better. Any later that that the baby wont be so active and generally too big to fit on the screen. One tip though would be to cut out coffee, fizzy drinks etc a week before and drink only water...this makes the scan so much clearer due to the quality of liquids in the body.
Ps...the discharge will only get worse as your pregnancy progresses, the number of times i thought my waters have broken or i have wee'ed myself due to a rush of it makes me cringe....pantie liners all the way!

vjay lol at you being pleased to see rain...im the same when it rains over here glad the snow is finally starting to clear up for you and the children, although i did here that is going to come in cold again mid week and the cold snap due to last until april?? i hope not for all of your sakes! Lovely that you have booked a weekend away for your birthday and are taking the boys.

mls im so glad that the magnets and acupunture is giving you something to smile about, for what its worth im all for the alternitive methods...im still convinced that reflexology worked for me. When i did my beauty course we looked into all of the alterative therapys and i would of studied them further had i not moved away. Fingers crossed it works for you and anyone else who is trying them out.....

iggy has your cold gone? mine is still hanging around and i cant shift it at all just drink as much ornage juice as you can...wow @ being 13 weeks. Thats such great news, when is the next scan? forgive me i have forgotten also are you finding out the flavour??? Also give tiger balm a go for the headaches, it works a little like 4head but is stronger and safe to use in pregnancy, mine is constantly with me...look for the white version if you can or it looks like ear wax smeared across your forehead and temples
oh and i wore the chicken suit til week 17 too....no rush!

neeko i still cant get my head around that you are only a few weeks behind me for some reason it felt like ages that the next person got a bfp after me, seems your pregnancy is going faster than mine too loving the nursery talk, ours is all done and as requested by your lovely self the pics are up on my profile, although not very clear to see. As you know we went with the hodge podge range from mamas and papas and have stuck to the same colours.....my artistic side came out and i decorated the walls myself with a little help from dh mum. We went to get a few small tester pots of paints but they didnt have any and as we needed at leat 8 colours we ended up pinching borrowing the colour charts...you know the single colour cards you can get to pick your colours? we we took a few handfuls of the cards and came home and cut out leaves etc and then made a hedgehog and mushrooms for the wall...i will try to get a close up and post so it makes more sense.

lbm a girl!!! lovely news..... at you going to only 38 weeks, i wish i could. Ive developed the pregnancy wobble as i walk, im bored, the nursery is done and im just bloody impatient! Loved the fact your dh walked your baby around the house to show it around....to cute! I have caught dh in the nursery a few times, he seems so excited...oh and he loves playing with the baby monitor too he was in there making crying noises to test whether it worked or not. Mental man!

blue swoon at you just sat looking at Ben....i hope to take your's and the other mummies advice and just take it easy, forget about the house work and male the most of having a brand new baby....of course is reality ill be posting on here in a few weeks begging for coping tips!

jools i think taking delievery of the nursery stuff was a sign...to see how it suited your house! i bet soon you will be taking delievery of your own stuff and will be way too excited to leave the house until it arrives and it definaltly wont be taking in by a neighbour! hope the cold is clearing and you havent been pushing yourself too hard in the gym....
Might have to invest in the twighlight books, anything to keep me busy for the next few weeks...

monkey how was/ is your weekend in the uk....im counting down the weeks until i can next visit, although i do hope it will be slightly warmer by then!

cupcake i dont want to put you off but i would move as soon as you can, its exhusting! I hope you can get a good removal company to pack and then unpack at the other end for you. It really was a god send. I still worked hard though, cleaning the old villa, helping to unpack here and generally organising everything, im trying to keep as mobile as possible to ensure an easy labour
My back has been playing up lately too, it feels i have been run over buy and steamroller who then reversed and did it again! I find a nice warm bath helps and then either walking through the pain or sitting on the gym ball helps to soften the muscles.
As for the comments ignore, ignore, ignore! I have had loads over the past few days, some saying im so big i must be due to drop early others saying what a weird shap bump i have, it looks like this... ] a bit square just smile and let your mind wonder else where and block them out!

mermaid are you ok love??? where are you hiding?

gg im stalking you on fb for any news of updates....are you off somewhere with mermaid?? sabs Saara is one beautiful little girl...loving the pics on fb.

buddha how is E? Also loving the new pics that you have posted

mm are you still just sat gazing at your new princess? i would love to see a pic if you have time to post one..hopefully cath up with you soon

curly surely you must be on mat leave by now? how are you...any thoughs on your birthing plan?

moon how are you and df hope you are enjoying the new year and chilling out a bit.....

Who have a missed sorry if i have missed anybody

Ok..super long post me thinks
As i said we are all in and ready for lo to arrive, im going to be speading this week just finishing off a few bits in the villa and then ill start to relax. I got as far as getting out my hospital bag last night so will make an effort to get that packed some time soon.

Can i ask a few silly questions?

Looking at the clothes we have, they all seem very big 0-3 months...is it worth being some new born sizes?

Do you have to wash everything is a certain thing, ie non bio? Can i add softener?

Do i pack bottles for the hospital in case i cant breast feed for whatever reason...

Any idea why my bump is square????

Thanks.

Stupidly i opened a thread about labour just now and it had a very sad outcome (wont go into details as im freaked out enough without worrying you other girls) now i cant get it out of me head and im sat prodding my tummy for some kind of reassurance Will there ever be a day when we can all relax???

Anyway im going to keep busy and try not to dwell on it, im around for the next 5 weeks doing nothing so come and keep me company!

Love B xx

Neeko · 17/01/2010 08:40

Morning. Was just checking that 4ever updated. I was asleep before her text came thru so didn't get it til the middle of the night and thought DH would kill me if I came down to post then, or you lot would if I started texting then.

4ever This baby is going to be soo worth it all. x

MummyLovesSadie · 17/01/2010 08:04

Thank goodness 4ever, what a fright. Ummmmm, if you were in the labour ward I guess you heard the screams of women in labour.... not very helpful for your frame of mind in the coming weeks.

barbie1 · 17/01/2010 06:12

.

4everhopeful · 17/01/2010 00:07

Things ok with baby thank christ.. Might have cervical erosion & thrush or infection.. Could of stayed in for obs but they let me home, must take it easy.. was in labour ward, all very harrowing.. Back to the ongoing anxiety & cotton wool.. Thanks for all ur thoughts & tx x x x x x

anniebigpants · 16/01/2010 23:29

Can someone text me please if they hear from 4ever, thanks.

Sabs1981 · 16/01/2010 22:26

Hi,

neeko if you are able to, please can you text me as well if/when you hear from 4ever Thanks

Hope everyone is well and having a good weekend

MummyLovesSadie · 16/01/2010 21:59

Oh God 4ever here is my hand to hold. I'm sure the pink/red is nothing of any consequence but of course you are going to be crapping yourself until you have reassurance from the hospital.

Neeko please let me know if you hear anything. Btw, hair good now thanks but a teeny bit shorter than I would have liked & girly lightweight hangover gone.

Neeko · 16/01/2010 21:53

Just updating you all for 4ever She has phoned the midwife and has to go in due to her history. Will let you know if I hear any more. Posive thoughts everyone please.

Neeko · 16/01/2010 21:37

4ever Just texted you in case you're not keeping an eye on the thread. I'm positive it's nothing but glad you have the doppler to reassure yourself. Feet up and have a big hug from dh.

HI Jools. How are you? Hope the packages have gone.

LBM totally understand about the curtains. We went to pictures to see Slumdog Millionaire a few weeks after my mc and I couldn't bear to watch it when it was on the other night. Loved DD's comment about your tum. Will she and baby be sharing a pink room?

MLS How's the hair and the lightweight hangover?

Cupcake Glad you're feeling a bit better. Have you bought that birthing ball yet?

Vjay snow all gone here too. I was actually pleased to hear the rain last night!

Joolsiam · 16/01/2010 21:28

4EverWeeble You ARE having a baby - you are past the first trimester danger zone - just believe and relax - easier said than done I know but I am sure all is ok

thinking of you xx

4everhopeful · 16/01/2010 20:52

Agh i just had some pinky reddish bit when wiped? Im so scared.. Listened for heartbeat on doppler & strong but sick with worry now...

littlebellsmum · 16/01/2010 20:03

4ever More gold stars from me too for walking away without a scan. Not long until the 20 week one though now and you have your lovely doppler and lovely baby flutters. Mine loves being fed and wriggles around after meal / snack times - lets hope this continues after she is born!
Yay to baby4vever for being so good as to wriggle to make her mummy happy!

cupcake Pleased that you are feeling better.

I've had such a lazy day today - DH is working on building a big shelving/ coat hanging unit for me and I've spent most of the day "looking after" the dc's who were really happy with their new toys and looking for really crucial things like a new tent for the summer on ebay and a bike for DS's birthday.
Now really think I should do something ( like tidy the spare room or curtains) but am having difficulty with motivation!
V wierd getting back to making the curtains - last time I worked on them, I was having my MC, so whilst, it's nice to have a wriggly belly, it's not a great memory. I'm not sure I'm ever going to like them now. Ah well, just need to get the bl*dy things finished now!

4everhopeful · 16/01/2010 19:01

Hey ladies - its is quiet isnt it?!

Cupcake glad the pain is easing and the maternity assesment was able to help.. I really feel for you cos was in agony with my back from about 9-12wks & can make you feel so low.. Lots of bedrest & TLC from DH should help a a bit BTW Im the same, I love snuggles with my DH & spent most of the morning curled up blissfully doing just that! I loved that song too, lovely message, bubba was fluttering away when it was playing!

LBM I had a little at your book to explain all to the kids bless em! Cant believe you had no post for all that time!

Hey Vjay Yea for rain! Who'd have thought it eh? Thanks for asking about the scan, sorry I never got on yesterday!

Well, our lovely lady was off sick & sounds like will be for some time as she may need an op on her leg poor thing.. So, as it was more a favour that she scanned us under EPU who should technically stop at 14wks (18wks max but alot of politics involved apparently) they wouldnt scan me there yesterday! They said I could go up to fetal meds but would prob have to wait a few hours so I was a very brave girl & said Id leave it til my official 20 wk scan on 26th Jan (will be nearly 22wks by then!). Thanks to Mermaid, Neeko and Cupcake who were all very proud of my brave decision, and rightfully said I could never have done that a few weeks ago! DH was very proud of me too! However, I do have the doppler, and am feeling regular flutterings so was starting to feel a bit of a fraudster going back each week, just sods law, cos was mainly to reward myself for return to work & being 20 weeks yesterday, and was actually gonna say I wouldnt rebook another with her as would wait for official 20wk on 26th & by that point would of hopefully been feeling so much movement that may not have needed to go back! Oh well! We are def gonna book a 4D one in a few weeks though! Barbie when did you have yours?

Im a bit deliriously tired so scuse if that was a ramble, my oldest (ex? ) bf turned up on our doorstep at about 3pm, not seen her since summer, she knew I was preg & knows history but was no support whatsoever as has been battling her own mental health issues, tbh she has always had issues & was as much my decision to step away from her drama as was just too much hard work when I had my own upsets to try & deal with, as it was apparently hers to avoid all contact with me too.. Anyway, she turned up with flowers & excuses & that she is now on medication & in a much better place (have kind of heard this stuff before) was nice to see her & dont hold a grudge, but think will remain cautious & keep her at arms length for my own sanctity, but OMG Im just so drained now & just wanted to chill quietly with DH! Tomorrow its FIL & nieces birthday so we are going TGI at 1.30pm so today was meant to be our 'c h i l l' day - oh well!

cupcakefairy · 16/01/2010 16:27

Wow it really is very quiet!
I did end up being taken home yesterday in a tearful hormonal mess by a lovely guy at work. Phoned my maternity assessment unit who said it's sciatica and to take paracetamol and have warm baths. Still can't really bear weight on one leg but it's a tiny bit better today. Spoke to my Mum this morning who said she'd had exact same thing so sympathised a lot which was nice! She said it was only really bad for 2 weeks so here's hoping! Thanks for advice everyone.

LBM I'm sure your dd will be fab. My Mum still goes on now about how I was more of a Mummy to my little sister than she was - absolutely adored her, did her hair and all that. Even taught her to ride a bike later on; it's a really nice age gap cos she came to me for advice and stuff later on and now she's older we get on really well

Aw, glad people like the song. And keep meaning to say sabs thanks so much for the update on hoping; I really hope she will come back to us...if only cos I do slightly feel like the baby of the thread sometimes and nice to have a companion (obviously there are 7 actual babies but you know what I mean!)

littlebellsmum · 16/01/2010 12:27

Not as quiet as it is today, Vjay. We are also pleased to have some rain and the snow is on it's way. Even dd said yipee when we said the snow was going as she's sick of sliding in it.
Great excitement when we went to the sorting office to collect all the parcels that had been left there for us ( no post for the last 2 weeks). DS got the numberjeacks he had bought with his xmas money and dd got the sylvanian familys that she had bought - cue very excited kiddiwinks!

DD got brownie points this morning by saying " but Mummy, the baby isn't making your tummy big at all!"

Oh and the usborne book arrived yesterday to explain how babies are made and how they get out . I'm npw avoiding sharing it with them all though it is actually very good and quite simple.

monkeysbum hope you haave a great weekend back here

4ever Hope the scan went well - looking forward to hearing your update

jools Bummer - but at leas you didn't have a real psycho moment and move it into your spare room!!

Neeko Sorry you're feeling rough - I've never had any braxton hicks and am not sure I'd recognize them. Furniture isn't a problem for us, baby equipment on the other hand is but we are getting lots and lots of offers! And yes, I always wanted a sister too. DD is not impressed about the lack of a pink room - she has to share with her brother and so, it is a purply colour not pink.

Blue good to here you are enjoying Ben, I agree with the others, we speand too much time being the perfect mum/ wife etc and not enjoying our bundles of love

barbie hope you are having a lovely relaxing day in your new house

Love to everyone else - Gracie and MLS have gone quiet, hope every is ok?

VJay · 16/01/2010 09:49

Quiet day yesterday, hope you are all resting and relaxing

4ever how did your scan go?

monkey have a fab weekend

cupcake I really like that song, me and ds1 listened to it, he loved it too

lbm hope you had a nice girlie night out

Not much to report here, it's been raining a lot and I now have nearly all my grass back, it's good to see some green .

May pop on later, if not, have fab weekends

OP posts:
littlebellsmum · 15/01/2010 18:28

Oh and Cupcake Will be interested to hear about you and your siaster who is 6 years younger as my dd will be 6 years older than this LO!

littlebellsmum · 15/01/2010 18:26

cupcake Take paracetomol - it will be fine. You'll take it in labour anyway!
Sorry to hear your back is so bad - take it easy. Let DH see the houses - if he likes them you can go another day
Have you tried swimming or warm baths?

Thanks for all the edinburgh advice - so excited now as we've booked the sleeper and the flight back and got a fab apartement near Haymarket that has a pool in the block. There's even room for some friends to come with us - really, really looking forward to Feb half term now!

Got to go - going on a very rare meal with some girlfriends and I need to get a roman blind finished first ( oh and not disturb the DC's video with the sewing machine!)
