Awww our lovely weeble I too got quite emotional reading your story, especially the bit about dh taking your hand and both crying bless you. I can't imagine the different feelings of stress and relief then terror you went through! What a day...and not getting to go to the party either I'm just so glad that's over for you and sending you a lorry full of cotton wool!

vjay that image of ajay in the pool is just ! gorgeous!

LBM thanks for the tips, will definitely look at Tesco and Argos for exercise balls writing down all your tips re infacol and napisan too! I just have no clue about these things.

Hi lion lovely to see you.

My parents were over yesterday and ended up telling us in detail about all 4 of their birth experiences! V interesting! The upshot is they were all fairly quick labours so I'm hopeful! My little sister was born in France and my Dad wasn't allowed to go to labour ward with my Mum til he'd filled in a forestful of forms even though she was practically crowning! Haha...gotta love the french.

Right, a chocolate brownie and cup of tea are calling my name...

mermaidspurse · 18/01/2010 14:24

yes or pinched all your best bits of makeup age 14.

mermaidspurse · 18/01/2010 14:21

well I have read a lot of words like normal, happens often, fairly common. It is always nice to grab onto these kind of words. You are doing really well so just stay wrapped up in that wooly suit.x

I guess they have checked for a low lying placenta like barbie and her naughty naughty dh

vjay at your layed back, in more ways than one ajay hope ds1 didn't hurt his knees too badly. Definately deserves a lollipop cos you can't cry and suck at the same time.x

lion give that gorgeous boy a big kiss.xx

barbie1 · 18/01/2010 14:12

It will just make you appreciate so much more this lo even when at 4 years old she has drawn all over your lovely walls in lipstick you will be able to remember this time and the struggles you had...

lion nice to see you again

Oh 4ever you poor thing, so glad you have a wonderful dh there with you. Good that you are signed off for 2 weeks now, get lots of rest and get that confidence built up again, I think your scan and ante natal appt. will help you there too. You are so brave and you WILL get there, only 19 weeks to go [smille]

mrcupcake who the heck is milkyway

barbie go and get measured for nursing bras after 36 weeks, that's what I did anyway.

Hi lion how are you doing?

Had my post natal swim this morning, it was soooo good, then when it was Ajays turn to come in the pool, he was so chilled out, sucking his thumb, I thought at one point he was going to fall asleep. All the other babies were splashing about or crying, and there was Ajay lying in my arms watching it all .

OP posts:
mermaidspurse · 18/01/2010 12:53

4ever I have had to go and have a little cry cos you had been getting so brave and it was so lovely to see you all confident.
I wish we could have all rushed to the hospital to hold hands and mop faces, manly brows and make you both cups of tea oh and dry your duvet for when you staggered home.

We will get you through these weeks just like we have wobbled and weebled our way through these first 20.

Biggest gold tipped star for both of you. Love you heaps and just hang on xxxxx

MummyLovesSadie · 18/01/2010 12:48

4ever you have just made me cry. The thought of you in the scan room & dh with head in hands followed by a massive rush of relief & followed again by uncertainty. Your baby is going to be absolutely fine, I'm so sure of it but now you have to take teeny tiny steps & take it easy for the sake of your sanity. I like the idea of you staying in bed until June. In our mothers age that what they used to do, my mum had to spend the last two months of her pregnancies with both of my sisters in bed in hospital due to high blood pressure/asthma.

Well I'm 2dpo & this morning had a tiny bit of blood in my cm. What is that all about??

iggypiggy · 18/01/2010 12:37

4everweeble that sounds like an emotional rollercoaster but so glad the staff were nice and that you got to hear heartbeat and kicks.

The last thing you need right now is more stress isn't it? I hope you manage to chill out a bit - and 2 weeks signed off sounds good.

Lionstar · 18/01/2010 12:31

Oh 4ever I just had to de-lurk and send you lots and lots of hugs. Such a stressful situation for you . However on a brighter note it sounds like LO is still totally safe and tucked up all warm and snug in there.

You need that cotton-wool suit back on, hope you can get some rest and some reassurance that this is all going to be well. Thinking of you.

4everhopeful · 18/01/2010 12:28

Also meant to say - first thing that came up on google for Cervical Erosion was an MN thread from 2006, good old MN.. Am gonna get signed off for next 2weeks as next tues is my scan & next thurs ante natal, so will get them out the way before I think about going back to work & hopefully build a little confidence back up

Bless DH just phoned from superdrug on his lunch, asking in a whispered voice which carefree liners I need.. I love him so much I could start crying, again...

4everhopeful · 18/01/2010 12:20

Morning all.. Weeble here.. Thanks for all being lovely.. Im a right old state after saturday night, it was so traumatic scary & horrible, its taken me right back after daring to feel nearly brave last week.. Of course most importantly thank god little baby hopeful is ok, but that fear of phoning the number in the maternity notes for 'bleeding over 20 weeks - contact delivery suite immediately' & hearing the midwife say 'oh you had better come in right away so we can check you over' left me a sobbing mess expecting the worse, not knowing whether to pack a bag, digging out sanitary towels that Id hoped not to see again for a long time, knowing that just 3 weeks would make all the difference.. Not knowing when we'd be back home & worrying that the bedding was still in the wash if DH had to come home on his own, the thoughts that go through your head are crazy.. Mainly I just kept thinking if only I was 23/24 weeks..

Anyway we got a cab there & it was so eerie being there so late at night, I felt sick walking through the doors to the delivery suite & could hear little newborn crys, the waiting room had a few happy looking men in watching match of the day & when I walked to the desk all the lovely midwifes looked really concerned & were like 'oh this is the 20 weeker'. I kept saying to DH please let this be like a trial run & let us be able to come back in a few months time for real! Poor wonderful DH was trying to be brave but was s*ing himself like I was, he was amazing as always.. Anyway it was all very quick & they got me in an assesment room & had a feel & listened to a nice strong heartbeat & told me the funny doof sounds were kicks, I was sobbing my eyes out by then after holding it together in the cab & the lovely midwife grabbed my hand & said 'Daddy come over here' where he was sitting in the chair head in hands and he grabbed my other hand & we just cried with relief, she said fundus was perfect for dates, but then obviously they needed to do an internal to see what caused the little bleed, a registrar under my consultant came in & they had to do a speculum thing, poor DH was a bit freaked as they used one with my 1st horrific mc, thats when they said about it being Cervical erosion, which is apparently when the cells grow differently and are inflammed, rough & red, (cue more freaking as had pre cancerous cells removed a few years ago) they assured me its pregnancy related triggered by hormone changes & can affect 1 in 5 pregnancies with no direct harm to baby. They said my cervix was closed & cervix was still nice & long about 4cm thank god. I did have a clear smear just before we fell preg so they said should be ok, but did say there was alot of discharge, which can be a symptom of cervical erosion, but could be just thrush, or an infection, so they took swabs to send to lab.. After the relief of heartbeat, this all freaked me out again, they did say that small bleeds (mainly just when wiping) are triggered by sex or a knock, or straining (lifting etc). DH & I were told to avoid sex for first 12 wks & didnt dare til about 16/17wks after cons convinced us it would be ok, even then, when we have done it (tmi but..) he doesnt go in all the way & pulls out at the crucial time . We did do it on sat morning though so they reckoned that could be it & told us to avoid it for about 3 weeks.. They said its like having a cut on your finger, it wont affect the baby, but obvioulsy its so close to that area so it will be a worry, due to history they could keep me in overnight for obs, but as so anxious maybe a good sleep in own bed would be better as in her words 'theres nothing we could do at 20 wks anyway' . As the panic filled my face she did reassure again that there was no sign of mc or threatened mc, but didnt need to hear that! They did say go home as only 10 mins away, stay in bed for a few days, take it very easy, dont go to work etc, call in or come back if bleeding gets worse.. All the while thankfully, baby has been fluttering away so although reassuring, Im also jumping a little as freaked & very conscious of any feelings in my tummy.. They also said that the speculum could cause more spotting & have felt a bit sore from it as well, so thats been wierd... We got home just after midnight & I must say they were brilliant & so reassuring to know they are on hand like that, however it has left me a freaked out vulnerable feeling mess..

Im back to doing everything in slow motion snails pace, Im scared to blow my nose/cough/poo for fear of straining. Im walking on tip toes, spent sat night scared to go loo for fear of what I may see.. All pinkish stuff now stopped but realised that this discharge is actually very thick & thrush like so am now worried about results of swabs (should be by tomorrow). Spent yesterday very teary & scared to move, DH as usual just wonderful, was gutted as was FIL & nieces birthday & was meant to on big family meal to TGI & couldnt go, MIL was understandably worried & cried on her shoulder when the popped in. My poor mum was worried for us but so glad my sis is still there (who's all matter of fact & oh you'll be fine, just doesnt get the trauma & 10 steps back feeling, which is what my mum & MIL are sad for me for, we know baby is ok & thanking god for it, but doesnt take away how bloody shook up its made me). Was enjoying being back at work, was meant to get hair done today, & not even sure if gonna go to Auntys funeral now as its 10am weds & about an hour away so an early start . TBH I just want to stay in bed til June, or at least til Im 24 28wks..

Anyway, sorry for the waffle, just needed to share.. Im now paranoid have sat upright for too long so going to lie down, I keep feeling all dizzy..

Ill catch up with you individually ASAP - love to everyone xxxxx

littlebellsmum · 17/01/2010 20:08

Cupcake Re nursing fittings - I was given the same advice and yet when I went to mothercare for the fitting at 38 weeks, they wouldn't do it as they said it was better after the birth. How you are supposed to get to the shop then I don't know - best advice is to buy a couple of cheapies based on your size then and the NCT will always come round and measure you at home after you've had the baby
Also - birthing ball , I got my first from Argos ( regular excercise ball), second from Tescos ( even cheaper and first got left at hospital after dd born) Probably get next one from a friend!

barbie don't think the NCT can measure you where you are! So suggest you ask for some advice at about 38 weeks. Also don't buy many newborn babygros - I think I only had 3 or 4, at that size, they don't last long ( maybe a month) and I just kept washing them but they are so cute. Don't think you'll need vests in Dubai though or socks which are even cuter but a bugger to keep on!
Two other things for your mum to bring out - a box or two of Napisan ( great for getting stains out, still use it now and she can get it from Sainsburys) and Infacol (a couple of bottles), not sure if you can get it in Dubai and it seemed to really help DD when tiny.
Re you sad labour thread - very occasionally things go wrong, far less often than MC's, so focus on all the people you know who have healthy babies, rather than the one rare one who very sadly doesn't
I'm not sure that I'm happy at the 38 week plan - you see, it could really impact where I have the baby. If it needs more than a sweep, then I will need to go into the hospital rather than the nice birthing unit and I also don't fancy being induced if I can avoid it.

very about the iceskating talk - my dd loves it and keeps asking to go again but funnily enough, I'm not too keen at the moment!

4ever So pleased that everything is OK. How many of the months milestones have passed now? I know two of the really hard ones are passed...

Got to go - friend has given me a whole sack of maternity clothes and whilst I don't intend to wear them for a while, I do plan to iron them tonight ( I still have no bump to speak of, just look as if I have eaten all the pies!)

cupcakefairy · 17/01/2010 18:48

Evening ladies..
yes mermaid I'm definitely doing an impression of a flamingo, dh has to keep putting on/removing one shoe for me as I can't stand on my left leg and bend over at the same time

barbie so pleased move went well and your nursery is GORGEOUS! Love the one of your doggy lying in there Have you read Marley & Me? There's such a sweet bit in it about Marley (who's usually a mental dog) being so placid around their newborn baby and then letting baby crawl all over him later on Thanks for advice re move..don't worry we are planning it v soon! And hopefully lots of willing friends to help as I am not allowed to lift a single thing
I'm glad you asked those questions too as I'm also clueless!! I was told at M&S to get nursing bra fitting at around 36-38 weeks.

iggy so glad your cold is easing! We all want small panters to join you too! You must be getting lonely!

4ever so sorry about the scare just rubbish that you will never be able to relax you poor love.

(dh is lying on bed behind me trying to have a conversation and just said "give me some attention, not vjay and milkyway"...haha! who on earth's milkyway?? Strange man.) (and now he's saying he's going to join the thread under a secret name )

neeko no birthing ball yet but have told dh I want one

Where's moon? Hope you're ok if you're lurking, thinking of you. You too, Curly hope you're off work now and just resting big cups of tea on your bump

Today two people said I had a small and neat bump so hooray, the universe is balanced again! I may even put the pic of it up now...

iggypiggy · 17/01/2010 14:17

Hello all, I've finally turned a corner and feel a bit better fromt he cold of doom that I have been properly grumpy and miserable with

barbie I can't answer your baby related questions but am glad you asking them cos I have no idea either - also you are 100% right on the orange juice - its the only thing that has made me feel better. Thanks for tip about tiger balm - I will hunt for some - We've decided not to find out the flavour - so we going to have a surprise. Next scan is on 10th Feb at 17 weeks.

4ever so sorry to read about your scare - but so relieved it is ok. Also well done about the waiting for the scan, can't believe you going to be 22 weeks so soon!

mermaid I love ice skating, but am rubbish at it My dad used to take us when we were really little (Streatham Ice rink - for any Londoners that remember that!) - in hindsight, probably to get us out of my mum's way for a few hours

lbm there are 5 years between me and one of my sisters - but we also have one in between - we all get on amazingly well.

cupcake sorry to hear about sciatica one of my friends saw an osteopath for hers when she was pregnant and it made it much better. Maybe you could try that if you have any locally? She went to a university and was a 'guinea pig' for the lecturer - so she got it really cheap, and got someone excellent to do it.

Hope everyone else is well? Haven't heard from curly for a while? Am also hoping that some small panters will come and join me on the mediums pants bench soon!

Will catch up again soon. xxx

barbie1 · 17/01/2010 13:25

oh and one final silly question...

When do you buy nursing bra's? do you get fitted after you give birth? or before....but then surely you will expand somewhat?

VJay · 17/01/2010 12:55

Mmmmmm mini eggs, tis coming up to that time of year isn't it

Ajay has 2 grobags, one in the wash and one to wear, he's in the 0-6 month size but he is filling it now so we need to get the next size already

OP posts:
barbie1 · 17/01/2010 12:51

um??? i dont think so...although the house backs on to a play area and there are lots of screaming children out playing right now, might be a baby in there somewhere?

Oh and we have a growbag thingy...they look wierd dont they?

mermaidspurse · 17/01/2010 12:49

barbie did you hear a baby crying?

barbie1 · 17/01/2010 12:46

mermaid also @ chips....yummy

Thanks for liking the nursery...it was hard work but worth it....

My ( . ) ( . ) have started to leak!

Mini eggs????? im going to put them on the list of things i want my mum to bring over....

mermaidspurse · 17/01/2010 12:41

vjay I think our bones just get denser? and its cold and we need insulating and your body is doing a very important job atm.
Plus it is about time to buy mini eggs

VJay · 17/01/2010 12:32

Hi mermaid very at your chips and mayonaise, I bought some scales yesterday as I'd thrown out the old ones ages ago cos they kept telling me I was too heavy , anyway I'm even heavier now so am trying to be good. So much for bf helping me lose weight, but I have been told the weight will come off once bf stops.

4ever forgot to say well done on not having the scan, but hope you are ok now after your scare. So glad you have the doppler and can feel some flutters, it's very reassuring for you.

barbie love the nursey
