OK I have just worked out that if my next cycle is the same length as this one was then I will actually be due 1st October if I get pg so rather than sitting at the back of the September bus I thought I might skip straight ahead to the next one lol.

Plenty of chocolate and biscuits ready for the journey

Thanks stuffed - I think DH will like that advice! Fingers crossed for you.

By the way, don't know if anyone is interested, but Superdrug have an offer on vitamins etc - BOGOF, so I got 8 months supply of folic acid for about £2.50!

stuffedmk · 04/01/2010 12:53

I think I may have a shorter cycle this time than the last as I noticed ewcm on days 11-13 so I am probably looking at very end of sept rather than oct if I am lucky this time if not I will have to shift to the back of the bus lol.
Managed to get some shagging in on day 12 and 13 so fingers crossed.
Is ewcm produced just before ovualation or at the same time? I am unlikely to get any more BDing in next couple of days.
Anyway I have a better chance than last cycle. Last time I only really began to get hopeful at the end of my cycle because AF took so very long to turn up. I knew that it was unlikely yet still got my hopes up so I dunno what I am gonna be like this time lol!!

KelaH Potential fertile dates can vary from person to person and from cycle to cycle unfortunately. Roughly 2 weeks before you are due on is a good guide (hence 2 week wait). This is not definate though. You can track your temps throughout the cycle but I am no expert on this lol.
You can also keep an eye out for EWCM (egg white cervical mucous) which occurs around ovulation.
Best bet though is probably to just have sex on a regular basis lol

Ok, I've had a look back, and I did track my periods for a few months at the start of the year, so I think my UCL is about 26 days. But not sure what means in terms of potential fertile dates/due dates - can anyone help?

digitalgirl and poppy - sorry to hear about your mcs. I have heard that it is easier to conceive in the first few months after a mc (although unfortunately that has not been my experience).

decafgirl - I think you can have operations when you are pregnant (I know someone who had an appendectomy when she was 20-something weeks). I don't know that it is ideal etc...

digitalgirl · 03/01/2010 21:04

yumyum my cycles were quite long before having ds. Since he was born my cycles have been erratic which I put down to breastfeeding. Am thinking my short cycle was something to do with giving up breastfeeding and the mc I had in November. Oh, and the fact that I'm now officially thinking about ttc rather than 'not taking precautions' probably has something to do with it.

poppy so sorry to hear of your mc, hopefully you'll be pg again soon.

Welcome newbies. I joined mn when ttc my first who is now 16 months. Felt like such a big girl moving onto one of the ante-natal threads!

This day has been fairly painful, a really heavy AF. Hoping this means my body has finally recovered from the mc as the last af was hardly there at all.

KelaH · 03/01/2010 20:43

Hi all. Feel a bit odd posting this, although I suppose technically I am now TTC for the first time ever!! (Well I will be as soon as my period finishes!!)

I am a complete newbie at all this though, as DD was... well let's say a surprise , so we haven't actively tried before. I am finding it very hard to not assume that because I got pg (a bit too!) easily last time, it will happen quickly this time too, so I think I will be quite disappointed if I don't get pg straight away - I think that is partly why I am posting, almost as a safety net, to set up a bit of support network for if/when I don't (and let's face it, what are the chances of getting pg on the first attempt?!)

So anyway, I have no idea what all the TTC acronyms mean, and it doesn't matter anyway, coz I have always been rubbish at tracking my periods (which is partly why it took me 10 weeks to cotton on last time ). But my period started yesterday, so assuming my cycle is fairly 'normal' (I don't really know!), I would be due in Oct, hence why I am posting here.

Sorry for the massive post - I haven't really talked about TTCing, so had a lot to get out!

jennimoo · 03/01/2010 20:21

Hello, can I hop on? I'm coming from the waiting to TTC thread with evilgiraffe.
It's first cycle and no LOs yet so complete TTC newbie!
My stats are:
jennimoo TTC#1 Cycle 1 UCL 34 CD 3
hope I've got this right!

decafgirl · 03/01/2010 20:14

Thanks for your messages ladies, couldn't agree more with the 'not putting life on hold' advice so will defo ttc as planned. Woohoo!

It wasn't easy for us to conceive our DS (as you can see from my UCL!) so I don't want to squander any chances if you see what I mean?

Temps are back down to usual pre ov temps now AF has gone so will keep you posted xx

Hi Digitalgirl and Evilgraffe... good to see some more passengers on the bus Digitalg my cycle was also unsually short compared to normal this month, I'm sure I think about ttc way too much and that's why my cycle just becomes really strange... it's so annoying as i have no idea when i'll ovulate this month...grrr

Decaf I would definitely continue ttc, as Kkas said you never know how long it will take (very quickly i hope) and you may not even need the op so I would go for it

Hello all, can I join? I'm a bit shellshocked actually at being properly able to TTC now! I have just stopped taking the pill and am on cycle day 2 today. First time we've tried, and I've been on the pill so long I've no idea what my usual cycle length (assuming that's what UCL is?) is any more although it always used to be very regular.

Hope I'm getting this right:

shellee sorry to hear AF got you and about your surgery. i would carry on TTC but also schedule the surgery. who knows whether you will get pg between now and then and if you do, then i'm sure you will find a way to deal with it then. i am of the view you can't put your life on hold as there are so many unknowns. but just my humble opinion!

AF has left the building so time to get down to the BD!

Welcome shelleee, welcome. Fingers crossed this is the month for you xxx

Just had a thought on my own ttc ambitions - quite possibly need to have surgery on my leg (as a follow up to previous, failed surgery). Not seeing consultant until the 19th which is after I'm due to ovulate.

What would anyone else do? He might not even want to operate again but if he does it'll probably be 10 - 12 weeks till I get a date then it's a 6-8 week recovery period then there's physiotherapy....oh no! My lovely plans... am v tempted to just ttc & see what happens. What would you do?
