Had big talk with DP last night he wants to keep the testing process going on the NHS while we at least give the CBFM at least 1 shot, suppose he does have a point.
I'll be 38 soon so am thinking i might already be too old for some treatments (if it came to that) on NHS anyway-eg: IVF cut off is 39 and you have to of been trying for 3 years.

Anna I went to the centre for reproductive and genetic health. CRCH at UCH Gray's Inn Rd, London.

My consultant is Miss Melanie Davies who I can highly recommend. I have know her for 8 years, initally for my PCOS but had not sen her for over 3 years.

I am 41 and after seeing my GP who is also really good I realised we did not have time to mess around waiting for NHS.

The costs were: £180 initial consultation. Then we paid around £300 for scan to check my ovarian reserve, blood tests and it included semen analysis. Next step was a Hycosy scan which I had at Harley Street £390 and lastly £120 follow up consultation. Everything was done within three weeks.

We will in a couple of months when we save up again do both clomid and IUI. However for now my GP is arranging blood test to save me money at clinic and prescribed clomid. Sorry if I have waffled on xxx

Thanks for that Lychees- i think if i'd been more clued up when i first went to GP then it could of been quicker.
You should request the ultra sound appt and sperm analysis appt to be made when you go along the first time as well as the 2 lots of blood test. These seem to be the standard tests you need to have had before you can be referred. You should also ask if you'll need vaginal swabs and a smear test and get those booked in too. (with a bit of luck you could get them done at the same time as your 21 day blood test.)
Also my GP said you can request treatment at any NHS in London so if the wait is too long then maybe have a look at another area.
hopefully you wont need it though and its your lucky cycle!

Nothing much going on for me. Still playing the waiting game. My "m" button was flashing this morning but I estimate AF will arrive on CD30-31 this cycle.

If it does arrive, I'll be popping along to my GP soon to ask what the wait for a referral to a fertility clinic in West London is likely to be .

Anna, I have also been trawling the internet for prices just in case but found it confusing, too. I did notice that Create Health in Wimpole Street do a one stop fertility check for £400 [not that in-depth but they do an ultrasound and bloods] and at The Portland Hospital they do a Fertility MOT for £1,000.

I will see what my GP says first as that kind of money is a lot for us.

bopayes it is frustrating having no clue, been combing the internet for info on NHS vs Private fertility clinics, quite confusing when you dont have a specific issue...
Only about 4 week wait at local NHSFC (its not that great by all accounts) but 4-6 week wait for ultra sound needed prior to referral which is a annoying.
Am wondering if we should just pay for all the initial tests to find out asap if there is actually a problem.
couldnt afford anything like ivf (if it came down to that) privately but if its just a perscription for some clomid then i'd kinda like to get on with it...

vnewmummy did the £1200 include sperm analysis and did you still need a GP referral for UCH?

never imagined having to go down the assisted fertility road, fingers crossed that none of us will have to go too far down it.

still got high hopes though for the CBFM!

Funny that anna my GP said exactly the same to me about Clomid. I'm in the Edinburgh area.

Good news about your results being normal but also frustrating as you'll want answers. Hopefully they'll get to bottom of it. How long is the wait for your fertility clinic?

Thanks Bopa, results for thyroid and hormones both normal (so maybe we are a bit crap at it!
got appt now for ultra sound and DP will have the sperm count test then referral to fertility unit.
Apparently wait not too bad here in East London. GP said we can choose to go anywhere however so might see what wait is like for UCH as thats where I had DS and was treated for MC.
My GP wont give Clomid- reckons its a specialist drug and should be handled by fertility specialists, so will have to wait and see....

Glad to hear GP went well Bopa- its quite reassuring i thought to be taken seriously by the Dr, i was nervous when i went that my GP would tell me we were obviously incompetent and should just try harder!

Hi, for the stats, my age is 24. I got my first high today but now the normal ovulation sticks are negative!!

Boba - glad your doc came up trumps. Have you had your thyroid tested at all?

Reason I ask is lots of women dont realise how having right thyroid function is so important. I never did and my doc put me on medication.

Great news Boba! It´s really important to have a good GP. I changed doctors while I was having my third miscarriage has previous one was already treating me as if I was a lost case and I would just miscarriage everytime, and then I switched to another doctor who happens to be expert in infertility and that was when they started medicating me to my blood coagulation problem. I feel really hopefull with this doctor... now I just have to get pregnant again.

Well I'm really pleased with how GP went.

Getting bloods done next week and a day 21 Progest done whenever AF arrives. He has also referred me to the fertility clinic as there is a 9 month waiting list! DH has to make an appointment for sperm count tests.

He mentioned Clomid but said he would rather not prescribe that at moment.

Feeling excited now for bloods, he said it sounds like I have hormonal problem so hopefully we will get to the bottom of it.

So so sorry Harry. I was treated for an ectopic in Dec and feel extremely lucky that I didn't experience the awful interventions that you describe - I was one of the 50% whose body eventually ended up resolving it naturally after a lot of uncertainty. My heart goes out to you: I know the grief of losing a pregnancy. Big hug.

boba82 sorry to hear about the BFN I still been really disapointed each month for me to. I was so fed up last month as had no peaks last month so hoping that things will be better this month. Hope the doc is sympathetic to you hate mine avoiding mine totally at the mo.

Well it's really a rollercoaster of emotions in here.

But it's good we all have each other to rant/sound off to. It lets us know we're not alone and all want babies very much.

I came on this morning on cd30 so had to press the m for the start of my second cycle with cbfm. Maybe this cycle I'll get a peak as haven't had one yet.

Sorry to read the bad news but it's nice when you read a sucess story.

Harry I am really sorry to read your news hon. I dont know if this helps but my best friend had the same thing happen to her and 4 months later she managed to get pregnant. Great big cuddle. Just rest and take good care of yourself.
