September is a month of new beginnings, maybe we'll have some new beginnings of our own. Hop on board the September Bus and let's see where it takes us.

Is it too late to get on this bus? It looks pretty full (unless it's a bendy bus?)
I am TTC#2 Cycle 6 UCL 27 CD13

redbug · 17/12/2009 21:20

I kind of figure that since the egg isn't sharing a blood supply with the mother for a couple of weeks (the initial job of the placenta, according to women's hour on radio four the other day, is actually to block the mother's blood supply as the force of it would burst the egg when it's still so tiny), then a few drinks don't really matter.

I had a few over christmas period when i was on 2WW, and got my BFP on New Years Eve, so drinking then was out. Can't believe I'm doing the same again! My timing truly is fabulous...

lucybrad · 17/12/2009 21:12

hate the 2ww with the alcohol problem. its such a dead giveaway too. as long as you dont get plastered should be ok.

drkgpink · 17/12/2009 20:25

Hi to all, hope evryones ok. Just after a bit of advice, what are people who are going to be in 2ww doing re alcohol at christmas. if I don't drink people will assuma i'm pregnant when most likely first month I won't be. If i do and i turn out to be pregnant would not be the best time to be drinking. should i just fill one glass and hope no-one notices its not going down?

Eleanora · 17/12/2009 15:32

Legallyblonde - I am in the same boat with crazy symptom spotting. Have been feeling bloated for a few days (though that could definitely be the mince pies...) but today I started bleeding very lightly - just spotting really. It is only day 20 - this has never happened to me before. Cycles are always at least 30 days but usually slightly longer. Is it ridiculous to think about implantation bleeding?

legallyblond · 17/12/2009 15:03

Redbug - totally agree on the testing for all the same reasons. I am def not going to test until I am late.

Hope everyone is well today...

x

Redbug · 17/12/2009 14:43

Hmm... I'm not going to get much symptom spotting done if DP and I don't actually find time to DTD at some point in the near future. All efforts so far this month have been too far pre-ovulation (haven't ov'd yet that I've noticed, which is late for me), and have had a horrific cough for the past week, so not exactly been feeling my finest. Have been having a chill out day today (as much as you can while looking after a one year old, making dinner and baking mince pies simultaneously) so hopefully will feel a bit better later.

Legallyblond I didn't go bonkers with the whole thing last time as I was lucky enough to get a BFP first month trying (it can happen, see!), but even after under a month I was pretty darn obsessed with symptom spotting! Will be more sensible this time due to lack of time/inclination to stress about it. Am also determined not to test till I am officially late, as have a fear of having a chemical PG and would rather not know. Also have an irrational fear of MC, as SIL had same as me first time (pg immediately, no probs) then had 2 MCs before having a second successful pg.

This is ridiculous.. I can see how people go crazy with this.. I am not even properly TTC (was supposed to be from Jan but we got impatient) and I am symptom spotting... on day 18 (but after ov on day 11...)!!! I had stomach cramps which I NEVER get with af (I get backache instead) and was convincing myself it might be... but I think the reality is the HUGE christamas lunch I ate in the staff canteen!!! so so silly!

x

sparechange · 17/12/2009 12:17

hello everyone,
Sorry Beckylou

I woke up with that dull ache which means AF is on the way. I feel really bloody down about it, because we had done everything right this month and I thought it might be my lucky day.

Oh well, onwards and upwards. On the brightside, I can drink my body weight in champagne at Christmas

Cazzr · 17/12/2009 09:06

Yeah NancyDrew I think I am going to test Sunday. As for the ov pains, tho I guess it's handy knowing when one ovulates it really can be uncomfortable, hence the waking up.. Usually feel like my cervix is being pushed down for the rest of the day which usually means i'm not in the mood for BDing once I've ov'ed. Hoping it's ok tho as we dtd the same night I ov'ed, so pretty good timing really.

Crossing everything.

As for symptom spotting, found it really hard to get out of bed this morning. Could be because... well, I maybe just didn't want to get up, but do remember well how tired I got last time..

Anyway, I need a cuppa (decaff of course), see ya all later.

beckylou sorry you're feeling so rubbish

cazr I think if you wait until Sunday you should get an accurate result based on ov dates (impressed with ov pains!)I think I will wait until Sunday too....(famous last words!)

I have had cramping for last three days. Too early for AF, but could just mean it's on the way....

ilovestrictly · 16/12/2009 23:55

Was an avid reader of the August bus, although I didn't officially join . Have been off the pill since the beginning of the year and nothing as yet - altho have been hoping for happy accident rather than seriously trying. This will be number 3 for us (the first two were both conceived after the first month) hence my rather laid-back attitude. However, I'm now getting a slightly niggley feeling that it may not be so simple this time.

I've added myself to the stats - fairly near the bottom - have only put cycle 3 as before that I was not monitoring days and we may have even gone a month (or two) with no BD

Hi legallyblond waves no sign of af yet, but I just feel she's on her way...don't feel pg (not that I have a clue what being pg feels like!). I just feel a bit bloated. Plus I had a couple of glasses of wine tonight

NancyDrew - I hope you managed to stay away from poas!! After your words of wisdom to me earlier, too! Why, I haven't thought about testing more than five or six times at all today!

Cazzr · 16/12/2009 20:31

Sorry to hear that Becklou, was really hoping it was implantation spotting for you. :/

I'm trying not to get too carried away with things at the moment and keep my impatience in check, might try testing on Sunday but not before as I had been tempted to before.

Was planning to get some riding in over the next couple of weeks (on leave from Friday till Jan 5th) to get the nag going again so that a friend can ride her for me once I get pregnant. So I guess I don't really want to know if I am just yet as it'll put me off the riding a bit...

Anyway, gonna serve up dinner and try not to symptom spot for the evening. One step at a time.

legallyblonde: I ovulated overnight last Tuesday/Wednesday, think it was about 2am Wednesday (I get ov pains and they woke me up).

Think this means 10 days would be Sat AM, but would probably wait till Sunday AM as we are going to see relatives on Saturday, that said it's tempting to try tomorrow morning which would be 8 dpo (I read somewhere it was possible from then). I think i'd be ok with a BFN at this stage but would have the "what if i might have known earlier"s if I didn't...

legallyblond: I get what you mean about chemical pregnancies and i'm quite philosophical about miscarraige/chemical pregnancy but i'm impatient all the same..

I dunno, I'm all over the place at the mo, and if I don't get up early enough tomorrow to have peace to do it without DS trying to come and 'watch me' on the loo, I won't do it yet. Def will only do it first thing in the morning anyway.

As for symptom spotting, have had the metallic taste, heavy feeling low in tummy, some slight cramping to my lower right abdomen and today feeling quite tired. Could all be my imagination I admit but hoping all the same..

WOAH, mammoth post, will go do some work now...

legallyblond · 16/12/2009 14:57

I spoke with my Mum about this (random sounding, I know, but she is a trained midwife - actually was, as she then became a maths teacher). She reckoned that the best way is to wait until you are at least a day or 2 late with af. Before that it could be a chemical pregnancy... which would mean that you would get a positive (because you do have a fertilised egg) but it never properly implants (usually because it has a genetic defect) so you go on to get what seems to be a normal (maybe a bit heavy) af... which is devastating. But, after week 5 (when you are late) there is just the normal risk of miscarrge.

I dunno... I am going to try and wait until I am late I think - then if I am positive, I will know it has "stuck".

Having said that, I am the least patient person in the world!!! (hence me and dh ttc now despite saying we would wait until Jan!)

Any thoughts?

x

NancyDrewRocks · 16/12/2009 14:48

Cazzr it's hard isn't it??

Do you know when you ovulated - should wait at least 10 dpo as far as I know.

I have too much time on my hands at the moment!

Cazzr · 16/12/2009 14:44

Speaking of POAS, BeckLou where are you? How are you getting on?

Cazzr · 16/12/2009 14:42

NancyDrew, you are better than me, even 'I' am thinking of POAS tomorrow and i'm way behind you! realistically I should wait till the weekend but the cheap sticks are burning a hole in the drawer!
Should be due about next weds, what do people think?

Redbug · 16/12/2009 14:29

Just swinging by to see how you're all doing!

Nancy don't do it - at best you'll get a false negative. Give it a couple more days and it'll at least be almost worth it.

I am determined not to test until AF is late, but that's not so difficult for me with my crazily short cycle!

I am getting used to the idea of potentially being PG again (although not terribly likely this month as DS was ill, then me, DP probably next, so opportunities for actually doing the deed have been limited). My friend who borrowed my maternity clothes has just returned them, and I'm reminded that they're quite a lot nicer than my current limited selection!

NancyDrewRocks · 16/12/2009 14:08

I am seriously considering POAS tomorrow even though I know I am too early. Someone talk me out of it!
