    • Yorkshire - I found this on a website on chances to get pregnant but they dont do it by cycle just by months.

On average, 20% of all couples trying to get pregnant will not conceive in the first year of trying.

According to one study, 25% of couples get pregnant in the first month of trying, while 60% of couples trying to get pregnant do so within six months. On the other hand, 75% of couples get pregnant within nine months while 80% get pregnant within a year. Finally, some 90% of couples get pregnant within eighteen months of trying.

Calyx · 21/01/2010 07:28

My temps have been up and down so far this cycle and I normally ov on CD13 or 14. We managed to DTD days 11, 12 and 13 but day 14 I wasn't home till 8.30pm and then was just too knackered (then had a row with DH as he still expected me to do the dishes because he made dinner - even though he's not had any work this week and has done hee haw in the house!!) But then on bedtime day 14 (last night) I had spotting, guessing something to do with ovulating, and temp's gone up (only a wee bit though) this morning. Does that mean we've missed out this month as we didn't manage to do it on day 14? Or could it be an anovulatory cycle - do you get spotting when you don't ovulate? Never had spotting midcycle before and not sure.

Got to get ready for work so can't read up the thread, will catch up later

DrewsGirl · 21/01/2010 07:21

Hermya - No my monitors havent arrived yet, im a bit glad as my dad has stayed over the last 2 nights and i dont want to have to explain 2 boxes which i dont want to open in front of him but i think i have been missing my ovulation in prvious months by leaving it to late, this month we got it and hopefully we can put them back on ebay

Yuk Egg White Cervical Mucus! I think thats one of the most discusting things ive ever heard, it was much better when i didnt know

Oh Ann Summers makes sense Thanks for letting me know!

Yorkshire - Thanks for making me feel better, 11 sounds great to me

Hermya321 · 21/01/2010 07:08

Morning all!!! Well I'm hoping that I'm turning into something resembling a normal person today. I hope everyone has good days today!

Claire I'm glad you had a better day yesterday.

YorkshireI'm sorry that your Doc was a bit vague with your DH. It's really bad that they've added to an already stressful situation for you both. I'm glad it's nothing that can't be fixed and I've got my fingers crossed for a BFP for you this month!

claireinthecommunity · 20/01/2010 22:38

Hello all

I've just read through all the recent posts and now I can't remember any of it I put it down to feeling really tired. I had a much better day today and hope you all did too

Think I'll toddle off and get to bed early.

Hermya321 · 20/01/2010 21:44

mumsnerves oh I'm glad I'm not the only one. I did manage to get rid of the headache in the end. It probably hasn't helped that I've curbed my caffine addiction to three cups a day.

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 20/01/2010 21:36

Evening all,

Thanks for the correction whiteroses and zippys - that's really cheered me up! Made me optimistic again!

kkas its all looking good for a february BFP for you. You'll be on the magic cycle 7 and febuary is going to be a bumper month.

Bunny - lol at your cycle tampering. I think that's enough to ensure you'll be in febuary's crop of BFPs.

fudgecat sorry AF got you. Take a good dose of wine and chocolate and be back in the game for next month - did I mention, february's going to be lucky?

Drewsgirl if 1,3,7 are lucky, I think you'll find the next number in the lucky sequence will be 11, meaning you are bound to get your BFP on cycle 11 - in february!

Wonder if any research has been done on the proportion of women who get a bfp on a cycle number that is a prime number? I think I have the makings of a new theory there, should February not work.

Seablue we are generally every 2-3 days with a big push for daily action around ovulation. We don't aleays achieve that though.

Pixie lots of recognition at your account of day 6 BDing, especially "Oh, can you just get on with it".

Welcome misshoohaa this is a great secret club, and is pretty productive at the moment. Hopefully your symptoms are a sign of a positive to come!

Good luck to everyone BDing at the moment - hope its not too much of a chore. We're aiming for a final push tonight then I think I can relax a bit . I haven't been temping this month cos I lost my thermometer and the OPKs have been negative, so I haven't been able to pinpoint ovulatiion. But we missed last night, so need to get cracking tonight to make sure all bases are covered.

Rather unexpectedly, DH had a call from the surgery last night, the GP was working late and called to let him know that his seman analysis results were through. Count is ok, DH thinks mobility was ok, but can't remember and morphology was slightly below average. Consequence is he's to go back for a retest. DH felt a bit down, thinking that he's failed his sperm test but I'm hopeful that its nothing that can't be fixed. I'm now tempted to phone and see if my results are through, rather than waiting for next week. Feeling fairly upbeat about our chances of fixing whatever problems we have and eventually getting our BFP.

maamalady · 20/01/2010 20:34

I'm guessing AS is Ann Summers, from the context?

Looks like my DH is the only one who WASN'T ambushed last night! Not the same story tonight, though...

mumnerves · 20/01/2010 20:07

Hi Lipstie,misshooha and seablue, welcome!

Pixiestix Congratulations!
sparkly am keeping my fingers crossed for you!

kkas hope you put those panties to good use I got a positive OPK yesterday and lots of EWCM too ahem hence why I wasn't on this site also hope your day got better

Hermya321 hope you managed to get rid of your headache, don't think you're the only hormonal one, you haven't seen me during 2ww yet! I turn into the hormone yeti! (poor DH )

seablue I've decided this month I'm going to be suggesting every other day and let DH decide if we should BD in between. So far this has worked and we are far less stressed about the whole process

Hermya321 · 20/01/2010 19:54

Drew EWCM is egg white cervical mucus, when you're about to ovulate your cervical mucus becomes the same kind of consistency as egg white. Google it and it should explain everything. Sorry I'm not good at describing this kind of stuff.

Not sure what AS is, has your many monitors arrived yet??

DrewsGirl · 20/01/2010 19:19

* Kkas i have read your post now, that wasnt a nice day

What is AS? Something sexy im guessing? Oh im useless at these abbreviations

I looked on the MN acronym section but EWCM isnt in there and AS says asbergers syndrome and im guessing that isnt what you got out to make up with your hubby ...

DrewsGirl · 20/01/2010 19:15

Congratulations Pixie!! Im so excited that there are so many BFPs, i will try and follow suit!

Welsome along to Lipsie & Seablue & Misshoohaa

Did i miss a page? Kkas had a bad day? Im sure i didnt read that, this thread is moving way to fast ... Sorry hope you had a better day anyway maybe i will go back and have a look.

Bunny - Please dont say its only 1 3 or 7 as i am on no. 10 there must be no hope for me

Seablue - me and dh are more every other dayers but days 13-15ish are normally every day.

I got my smiley face today! BUT ... My dad stopped at our house last night so we had to be quiet and it was quite forced as i had already got up to go to work so BD didnt really happen ... going to make an effort tonight as i know it says 48 hours but i dont want to miss it!.

What is EWCM? I have been having a think and all i can make sense of is Early Warning but CM?? Havent a clue!!

Hermya321 · 20/01/2010 19:09

Evening all, I had a much better day today. Well better in the sense that I didn't blub in front of anybody nor did I curse or swear at any fellow drivers. I still feel like a walking hormone though. I've had a headache all day and an achey back and tummy to boot. The fact that I'm on a week long course with the most irritating people in the whole wide world does not help. I hate being in a confined space with these people. I am being driven slowly to my demise. LOL! On the plus side I bought a new blusher and some OV sticks. So at least I'll look good whilst I wallow.

Zippys I did not think of that at the time, but it was funny to think that last night was ambush night for everyone (me included) . Your evening sounded like fun.

Bunnys We are all mad, but as we're all together we seem normal. I hope your new job goes really well tomorrow and that you enjoy it. I hope you get a BFP this month as well!!

Khas I'm glas you had a better day today. I've found that directness with my DH is the best way. I don't know if we're just not that subtle, but most of the time we just ask each other 'You up for it?', seems to work.

Pixie My friend turned 21 about seven years ago and decided that she wasn't getting any older than that and has now had seven 21st birthdays. I hope these next few moths fly by for you all problem free so you can relax and enjoy being pg.

Seablue I'm sorry you're both stressed, have you tried massages? We're every other dayers at the mo.

misshoohaa · 20/01/2010 18:52

I very much like this thread!

I'm in a secret (kindof) club - woohoo.

Nice to be with some other first timers, makes the whole process a joy and not like the first day at school!!

Best of luck to each and every one of you, may your DP's and DH's have super active intelligent sperm and you all warm cosy wombs that are irresistable!!

No AF today so here's to hoping. Feeling quite relaxed and not to bothered about testing as i don't think this is my month TBH. All in good time (she says wistfully thinking of the cupboard full of POAS potential)

AAARRRGGGH - help needed please girls.
This is my first cycle of charting my temperature. As with every other month so far, I got a positive on my OPK on day 16. I also had EWCM on days 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17. However, no shift in temps at all from the start of the month to now (CD20). Before we started TTC I had an MRI of my abdomen for an unrelated reason which showed slightly polycystic ovaries, but since I have no symptoms of PCOS I was told this was no major cause for concern. Now I am worried that I am not ovulating at all, and just did not know it until now because I have not been charting until now.
Can you OV without a thermal shift? Toni Weschler seems to say that this is very unusual. Do any of you guys who chart your temps ever not get a thermal shift?

pixiestix · 20/01/2010 16:27

Thanks Seablue!
DH and I were every other dayers. We either conceived on the 8th - full of passion, really good or the 6th - totally forced session, with a bit of "Oh, can you just get on with it" thrown in!!!! Don't know which one actually worked in the end!!!

OP posts:
seablue · 20/01/2010 15:19

sorry - that should read "at this crucial moment"!

seablue · 20/01/2010 15:18

pixiestix crystal ball in the post to you now.

So nice to read about other people's enforced shags at this auspicious time of the month! DH is incredibly tired and stressed at the moment with a new job. We've organised this week to be shagtastic (ah, the romance of it!) but I can't help feeling that it's all a bit pointless when we're both stressed. CD13 and no smiley face - go for it anyway tonight? (didn't last night, did on Monday) or forget about it until tomorrow when I'd hope the Smiley One would have appeared?...

Are you girls every dayers or every other dayers at his crucial moment?

pixiestix · 20/01/2010 12:22

Bunny - lol at your cycle tampering. Are you going to be one of those women that gets to thirty and then gets a year younger with every birthday? No, seriously, it sounds like you have good grounds to knock a cycle off. Good luck for number three!

Misshoolaa - those sound like good symptoms! Try and wait a couple of days and test again, or alternatively use a CBD. I used a Sainsburys cheapy and my line was quite faint, but the Digi told me in nice, no-messing around text that I was pg Cant argue with that!

Hope your blood test goes well today Zippys and you get some answers soon.

Sorry to everyone who had a crap day yesterday. I am having quite a crap day today which is stupid as I'm supposed to be wildly happy after getting my BFP. [selfish emoticon] I'm just so worried and paranoid. Like WhiteRoses was saying about her cycle, I'm on CD29 today and last month my cycle lasted 33 days. So I'm looking out for every twinge and pain in my stomach, and feeling imaginary CM at every minute, thinking its going to be blood Is that too much information? Will just be so relieved to get the next month or two out of the way. Anyone got a crystal ball I can borrow?

OP posts:
kkas · 20/01/2010 10:32

bunny just reading my message back and not sure if that 'thanks' sounds sarcastic.... if so, it wasn't meant to be and sorry! i really do think cycle 7 will be lucky

kkas · 20/01/2010 10:29

morning bunny x post - rofl about your 'cycle analysis'. entirely justified to change to cycle 3 of course! but this only adds to my hopes that next month will be lucky for me. thanks!

kkas · 20/01/2010 10:27

thanks for the kind words guys. my day is going better today so far.

zippys i know it's strange to think everyone here knows when you're gonna get some action! but also fun in some weird way!

whiteroses last night was a bit surreal. i decided it was best just to get everything out in the open with DH. so instead of using my womanly wiles (is that a word?) after dinner i just said, "so i don't suppose you'd be up for a shag tonight, eh?" seems he was only too willing to oblige unfortunately it wasn't meant to be... but i managed to keep it together and assure him everything was ok and was happy that at least we had 'tried'. that's all i ask, etc. etc. so anyway, looks like it's game over for me this month as timing was not very good. but i'm joining yorkshire in the 'i'm going to get pg in february' queue. we are on holiday for a week in feb, it's DH's birthday, and he's promised to start seeing a reflexologist for some stress relief. surely we must get lucky timing-wise next month!

aly glad to hear you've been having a good few days. i was looking back at my journal from when i first started TTC in august and when i joined this thread. sadly, i know, i made a list of who was here when i started and have been putting stars next to their names as they got BFPs. most of us who were there at the time have gotten their BFPs. you, sky (does anyone know where she's gone?) me and, sadly, sevans are the only ones left! but i'm sure it's our time soon. and it's so nice to have so many join us since then. can't wait for the new 'crazy baby lady cult aka the boob jigglers' thread!

welcome to the new faces and thanks for updating the list zippys

bunnygirl80 · 20/01/2010 10:23

Oh, forgot to add that I found out today that a guy I used to work with's wife is 7 months pregnant. He lives in the UK and she is in the middle east and he only sees her once every six months so they must literally have only had to bd once to get a baby

I am actually that they have to live so far apart and actually won't get to live with his wife and baby until the baby is about 9 months old so he will miss out on so much, and his wife will have to cope alone.

bunnygirl80 · 20/01/2010 10:14

Right - I have decided that you lot need to move closer to Oz so I don't have 2 pages of posts to catch up with every time I log on-it takes up too much of my day Am starting new job tomorrow at 8am - may have to ring and tell them I'll be late as I'll be on MN!!!

Congrats Pixie - cycle 7 definitely seems to be lucky for a lot of people!

From my observations of the TTC threads I'm on I have come to the following conclusion. Most people seem to get BFPs on cycle 1 , cycle 3, or cycle 7. I have therefore come to the conclusion that I only need to obsess on those cycles as clearly it can't happen at any other time .

I have changed my cycle number on the stats as I am now 100% certain that DH and I were 10000 miles apart when I ov'd on my first cycle off the pill and so I'm no longer counting it as a TTC cycle, merely a practice run. This puts me back on cycle 3 again, increasing my chances of a BFP this month!!!

Hope all those of you who had bad days are feeling better today.
