Hello can I join in too please? You do seem like a friendly bunch and I feel I am slowly going mad with this TTC lark and I'm only on cycle 2! Think because I am focusing on a cycle like I've never done before I am noticing things I've never noticed before if that makes sense? Know what you mean about excited and scared evilgiraffe!

Happy birthday to you both!

(thanks guys for letting me be in your gang )

WorrisomeHeart · 05/01/2010 19:00

Many belated happy returns claire and curly - wow there are a lot of Capricorns on this thread! Sounds like you were both very pampered on the day!

And welcome evilgiraffe - loving the name BTW..

Well, it's fricking freezing and I'm at the end of AF so nothing to report really, just checking in! Hope you are all having a good week....

CurlyCasper · 05/01/2010 18:45

Thanks ladies! I'm well chuffed cause an old friend has just had her baby today. Told her it would be the 5th!

Kaloki · 05/01/2010 17:03

Happy birthday Curly and Claire!

kkas · 05/01/2010 15:39

happy birthday curly and claire sounds like you have lovely hubbies to give such great pressies.

curly can't wait to hear how your scan goes!

CurlyCasper · 05/01/2010 15:01

Claire That's another thing you and I (almost) have in common. It's my birthday today. Many happy returns to you! I'm of the diamonds. I'm getting a full body massage (not from him, from a pro!) and I'm happy with that.

Hope you are all ok. I must have a proper read of the thread to catch up. I started my second trimester today and have my NHS scan on Thursday, so will let you know how that goes. For now, happy shagging!

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 05/01/2010 14:37

Happy birthday Claire. Diamonds - your DH sounds lovely!

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 05/01/2010 14:36

welcome evilgiraffe, I agree with Kaloki, we are a very friendly and supportive bunch on this thread.

Kaloki, sounds like ovulation to me - its roughly the right time(ish) in your cycle and cramps can be an indication.

Hobnob I echo addie's advice - if in doubt just do it!

When DH went to see the docs last week he was told we should be aiming to DTD 3 every 2-3 days and not to worry about trying to pinpoint ovulation as that can lead to performance (and tracking!) anxiety. He has a bit of point. This month I'm aiming for regular BDing as advised, and planing to up the frequency to coincide with EWCM, which I think is the only reliable sign of ovulation that I've got. Fertility friend is a bit hit and miss for me, so I'm not relying on it to predict ovulation, just to give me an idea of general trends.

Good luck to all those trying to figure out what they should be doing when. I think the basic advice is to aim for regular and often!

claireinthecommunity · 05/01/2010 14:23

Happy new year everyone

Our internet is down, has been since before the new year but, managed to borrow a neighbour's dongle for a couple of hours today don't want to use up too much of their time, so, thought I'd just say a quick hello and update you on what's been happening with me, I'll read through and catch up with what you've all been up to when we're back online.

It was my birthday yesterday had a lovely day, went out for a meal in the evening and DH's present to me was a pair of diamond earrings!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it, I've coveted a pair for years now and he knew this - they're so special

AF is long gone now, so we'll be DTD as much as possible over the next couple of weeks

Take care all, hopefully I'll be back soon

Kaloki · 05/01/2010 10:00

Welcome evilgiraffe! This is my favourite thread on MN, the people here are lovely.

Started cramping last night, really badly. I can only assume I'm ovulating? No idea anymore.

kkas · 05/01/2010 09:44

welcome evilgiraffe hope you like our thread. it's full of great gals who like to laugh but also are very understanding when you feel

Hobnob76 · 04/01/2010 21:56

Thanks for the reply bunngirl80, I don't temp, so maybe this is why I'm getting myself well and truely confused! Addie Will try and convince DH to BD tonight to be sure.

Welcome evilgiraffe hope your stay here is short!

bunnygirl80 · 04/01/2010 21:48

Pixie You are right I am a skank! My dirty thermometer is nothing....this is the rest of my house

Hobnob I agree with Addie - if in doubt do it just in case. From my experience of FF it won't commit to saying you've ov'd until you've had 3 temps above your coverline. So if you ov'd on Sunday it might not pick it up for a day or so yet

Am off to buy DH some birthday presents today. Would love to give him a positive HPT but should probably get some actual presents for him as well

maamalady · 04/01/2010 21:47

Hello everyone, can I join? I'm on the October bus as well, and am about equal parts excited and scared! We are just starting out on the TTC journey, took the scary step today of buying folic acid and a couple of pregnancy tests (I am nothing if not optimistic!). DH actually seeming more excited than scared as well, so everything quite encouraging right now

My stats: evilgiraffe TTC#1 Cycle 1 UCL ?? CD3

addie81 · 04/01/2010 18:56

If in doubt - do the deed!!

Hobnob76 · 04/01/2010 18:41

Yorkshire glad you've had the blood test done!

Bunny eeewww at the thermometer!

Well today Hobnob will mostly be confused! I had a positive OPK last Friday and a negative one on Saturday, so I entered this data into FF last night and FF still reckons I'm due to OV today!

I'm confused, I thought I'd read on the instructions of the CBD OPK that I should OV within 48 hours of having a smiley on my OPK ? So I'd have OV'd anytime from Friday night to Sunday night wouldn't I ?

Somebody please help! Do DH and I DTD tonight just to cover myself ? Has FF fucked up or what ?

pixiestix · 04/01/2010 13:04

Bunny* - lol! You skank! (only kidding! ) Women all over Mumsnet are now hastily cleaning their thermometers!!!

Yorks -really pleased that you got your blood tests, despite your body doing its best to mess your appointments up completely!
Bummer about the two-two-week waits though. One is definitely enough for me!

YorkshireTeaDrinker · 04/01/2010 09:57

Morning all,

I've emerged from the hut and am ready to face a new cycle again. Thanks for all the lovely comments. It i good to know that when I am down (sometimes irrationally and unreasonably) there are a bunch of fab girls here who know just how I feel!

WhiteRoses what an awful car journey . I hope your DH was suitably appreciative of your support!

Lol at Bunny. I am also having slight doubts about my thermometer, as I sometimes get no variation in temp at all. I think I may have to consider investing in a slightly more robust thermomenter, as I think my ebay bargain might not be just up to the job.

Just back from the docs, they managed to fit me in this morning for a blood test, so that's both tests done at the happropriate time. Just a swab test for me (on Wednesday) then I've got thr first round of blood tests done. Ironically there's a 2ww for the results from the progesterone test, so it looks like I'll have two 2 week waits this month! DH is waiting on his appointment at the fertility clinic (should be next week sometime) to deliver his sample and then the first round is done.

I have been pretty impressed so far with the speed of appointments, but so far everything we've done has been GP based. Waits could get longer if we need a referal to the fertility unit, but so far I am feeling reasonably well served by the NHS. [fsmiel]

CJ2007 · 04/01/2010 07:27

Lol at bunny, I've had similar confusion with temps this cycle so after reading your post I quickly checked my thermometer!!!
I'm now in the horrible waiting period...
Hope those with af are feeling better.

Hoping we have some new bpf's for the new year soon.
