right then,

DH has decided that after two regular cycles post EP we can try again....was very excited about that prospect until it hit me like a thunderbolt....i only have ONE TUBE NOW....of course i knew this but now i really KNOW this IYSWIM and now feel a peculiar mix of and of course and at the whole situation we find ourselves in....

I want to be positive that it will happen and won't require assisted conception but am really nervous and scared it is going to take forever....or not happen at all....{trying not to think like that....}

calling all one-tubers for a bit of handholding and good old MN support......lets go through it together....

Welcome lilysma! I see you've had a warm welcome and good advice from everyone already!

Congrats on the scan scrum - it's such a relief to see the baby jumping away on screen, isn't it! Keeping my fingers crossed that NT results are low enough to stop you worrying. It just seems to be one worry after another with this pregnancy lark, doesn't it!

Everything is going fine with me, I have midwife appointment on Tuesday (along with GTT test for being a fatty ) so trying to concentrate on other things to make the time pass quickly! This is helped by the fact that we should hopefully exchange on buying a house today, and move next Wednesday! It's only a couple of miles from where we are now, but the thought of moving is filling me with dread! Because we've not been able to exchange until the last minute, we haven't really organised anything yet!

I hope you guys don't mind, but I've mentioned this thread in a thread in chat about someone having their tube removed because of an EP - they went through hell to be diagnosed, and are now obv upset at losing a tube, so I wanted to point them this way to show all the good news we have had! I really hope no one minds me doing this.

Anyway, take care all, and I will try to be better at updating from now on - although the 2nd trimester burst of energy doesn't seem to have hit yet!

Scrumdiddlyumptious · 21/04/2010 05:04

Ooh good news so far as went to OB today and had "mini-scan" which showed baby wriggling around and right size and heart beat for 11 weeks HURRAH. Not popping non-alcoholic champagne corks yet as proper scan and NT plus tests next Friday (and I am a bit of a granny at 39) BUT so far so good and am very relieved. Hope Edwina's scan has gone/goes well. Best xx

lilysma · 19/04/2010 09:41

Thanks, this is very good to hear!

Scrumdiddlyumptious · 19/04/2010 05:33

gosh its hard isn't it each bloody month, the hoping, the analyzing, the second quessing every twinge your body makes...we were trying for nearly a year before the ectopic and then 4 months after so know the feeling well. Definately don't think every other month is wasted though as aside from the weird competing thing the egg from one side can travel down the tube of the other...apparently it can'learn
' to do this if there is a blockage/no tube - one of the girls on this thread is pregnant via alternate egg & tube so it can be done! Good luck xxx

lilysma · 18/04/2010 09:31

Thanks for the info re ovulation scrumdiddly. This is good news - otherwise you just feel like half the time you may as well not bother!

I think the game is up for this month as nearing the end of the 2ww but have been spotting for a couple of days which usually means AF is very slowly on its way (due Tues).

Oh well, I'm getting used to it

Scrumdiddlyumptious · 16/04/2010 09:29

Hello Ladies

Long time no speak but have had weird thing where couldn't log on to Mumsnet for a week or so - don't know if it was an Australian issue.

Anyway welcome Lilysma & hope the luck of this thread rubs onto you soonest. To try & answer your question about ovulation, my OB said that you don't necessarily ovulate from alternate sides each month as the ovaries tend to 'compete' with each other for the 'strongest' egg....not sure if this makes sense but essentially he was saying not always!

SO happy all is going well - knock wood - I am in a constant state of terror - am currently 10 weeks & off to see Drs next Wednesday to see if its still there & then proper scan/tests the following week. Was feeling awful (= less worried) but now feeling a bit better (= more worried)...fingers crossed.

Edwinka, good luck for your scan & Boodle, yay for very active baby x

edwinak · 10/04/2010 09:47

Hi Ladies

Thanks for the reassurance re the stomach upset. The scan is a week on Thursday, so just under 2 weeks away!!!! The time seems to be going a bit faster now, I'm so nervous though!

lilysma I was convinced DH and I wouldn't have conceived the month we did as he was on a work trip to Germany on my OV day (according to my OV stick) so don't write it off completely! Keeping fingers crossed for you.

Hope you are all enjoying this lovely sunshine!

lilysma · 07/04/2010 20:15

Thanks Boodlebot, glad to hear bubs is making her/himself a bit more clear this week .

I agree edwina a tummy upset is very unlikely to cause any problems. Count down to the 12 week scan!

I'm using TCOYF for charting and do find it very helpful but am not that good at some bits. I find my CM quite confusing and it can get me a bit stressed - obviously not the aim .

Where did you get the meditation? Is it a CD? I'm quite into relaxation CDs so happy to try any variations on a theme .

Have just ovulated, I think, so now begins the 2WW, though I'm not feeling v positive about my chances this month as we didn't manage that much of the business for one reason or another and my spotting last month was so bad.

BTW does anyone know whether most women ovulate from alternate ovaries every month? What I have read is confusing and contradictory on the matter

boodleboot · 07/04/2010 15:39

not panicking this week. bubs moving freely and clearly around....i think i am destined to stress out until i hold him/her in my arms...

Edwina - not long to go now....am quite sure a stomach upset wont affect anything....

i swore by the book Taking charge of your fertility by toni weschler....just found it to be soo useful and informative and i never realised what an ignoramus i was about my fertility until i read that book! made me feel all empowered!

I also think that my nightly meditation called female Fertility Enhancer did a great job at helping me focus on preparing my body to conceive....recommend both Lilysma

Thanks for the welcome boodleboot and edwinak. Sorry you are both having such a stressful time re scans. The early phase of pregnancy is so hard that way isn't it, especially when you have had bad experiences in the past. Boodle are you trying all the usual tricks - drink of cold water and lie down, etc? Bump shrinking could just be baby moving around a bit couldn't it?

Boodle, I am charting my cycles as of 3 months ago and finding it v helpful but also feeding my TTC obsession cos of having to think about it every morning at least!

Had my first session of accupuncture on Thursday and am feeling very positive about it all. Should help me get a bit more energy and perspective if nothing else. But accupuncturist thinks she can help with the spotting. Watch this space!

Happy spring/fertility festival everyone .

edwinak · 02/04/2010 20:02

Welcome lilsma - like boodle said, we all understand what you are saying on here. I was still breastfeeding when I had my EP, although they say there's no link, I did decide to stop before trying again incase it was suppressing my hormones. I also had a series of acupuncture sessions which I also did before conceiving DS, I think it's really, really helpful.

Congrats apple really pleased the scan went well. I think I would have gone spare if DH had cut it that fine too. Men hey?!

I've got my 12wk scan on 22nd - now on the same calendar page - eek!!! Am stressing a bit as both DH and I had upset stomachs in the week, we're not sure if it's something we both eat or something viral. Desperately hoping it hasn't harmed the little bean. I've generally been feeling quite rough but the symptoms have been fluctuating quite a bit. I seem to be better when I'm at work but maybe that's because my mind's occupied more. Anyway, I'm just taking each day as it comes and keeping my fingers very tightly crossed.

boodleboot · 01/04/2010 13:52

welcome lilysma....sounds like you have been through it a bit...don't worry we all know what that feels like on here!

Are you charting your cycles?

apple - am considering doing that actually...i still don't feel settled today to be honest and i swear my bump is shrinking....i don't know if im just being paranoid but when i rang QE EPU today they said that i cannot go to them any more and between wk 16-20 if i have any probs i have to go straight to a&e....thats just so crap. anyway i have rung my friend who is a community midwife and will be waiting for her to call me back to see about an appointment to listen to the heartbeat but i know that at 16wks it can be difficult to hear it and worry that i will just stress my self out further.....

Hi ladies, can I join you? I've just had an HSG which confirmed that I too have the distinction of having only one functioning tube. I had an ectopic 4 years ago and they did a laproscopy and saved the tube. I then went on to have DD (now 3.3) but didn't know which tube she had come down obviously. Now have been TTC for #2 for 9 months and am 37 so already going through all the tests, so they sent me for the HSG.

Obviously I knew there was quite a good chance that the ectopic tube might be scarred from the surgery but it is still a bit of a shock to have it confirmed. I guess I was just really lucky to conceive DD in the time I did (it only took 3 months). So obviously I know I can get pregnant with the one tube, but am still feeling a bit about it maybe taking even longer. I have other possible fertility problems too (unexplained spotting and a still breastfeeding DD as well as my advancing age) so this doesn't help.

Anyway would be good to chat about it with people who understand some of the issues (e.g. fear about having another EP and fear of losing the other tube). Congrats to those of you who have managed to grow a bean in the right place - I see it's all go at the moment !

Appleton · 31/03/2010 16:40

boodle this might be a daft suggestion, but in my last preg I hired a doppler from a company online and used it for checking the baby's hb in the long gap between scans - it was v re-assuring. Not sure I'd do it this time, but I might change my mind on that when I'm a few more weeks in!

I can feel some movement already - definite whooshing going on, esp when I eat sugar. But it's not frequent yet. Hope the bath helps.

boodleboot · 31/03/2010 16:06

yay such great news apples - i have really liked my care at woolwich so far so can recommend it....apparently they will have a labour ward and a MLU by september so will be able to have the choice where to birth

i am 16.5wks and feeling a bit better for sure but having irrational panickly feelings today as i can't feel the baby moving like i have been for the last couple of weeks....i wish i had the money for a private scan this month as i would hotfoot it up there again today to see for myself taht bubs is ok....going home to have a bath to see if that helps.....

Good morning all! Thanks for putting this thread up top boodle - I had a half-arsed look for it yesterday, but was too tired to search properly!

All was fine at scan - baby looks great. The only downside was I had a huge row with DH just before, and he missed the scan! He made it for all the boring booking-in and blood tests. I am still annoyed at him, but admitedly did go a bit psycho on him (scan was at 2.20, he was supposed to leave work and get home to pick me up by 2, he didn't get here til 2.15 and wanted to stop and change out of his dirty work clothes - I got hysterical and refused to let him change, he wouldn't come into hospital with dirty clothes on and by the time he went home again to change and came back I'd already had the scan).

He has been good at dealing with DD while I've been nauseous/exhausted, but he just does my head in sometimes! He can be so unreliable! Hormones aren't helping - he thinks I'm a nutter!

Anyway, I'm 13 weeks today, so time is slowly passing. Looking forward to 16 weeks now - that's when I started feeling a bit more human when pregnant with DD. Although I have to have the Lucozade test at 16 weeks this time cos my BMI is too high

I'm now also starting to think about switching hospitals as Queen Mary's will only have MLU by the time I'm due - which is great if the birth is as straightforward as DD's, but not so good if anything happens, as there will be no labour ward/consultants. Not sure I like the risk of that.

Hope everyone else is doing well - boodle, you must be at the stage of feeling a bit better by now. I really can't wait for it - I feel like I'm walking around in a fog all the time, which isn't good for working full-time!

boodleboot · 31/03/2010 08:21

Fabulous news, scrum, I'm so pleased we're all getting over all the hurdles!

I have my 12 week scan a week on Monday (by which time I'll be 12+5), so now it's my turn to be on anxious countdown.

Hope everyone is coping with the pregnancy niggles OK. Seems bad to moan after all we've been through to get here, but jeez the constant nausea and tiredness is tough! x

Scrumdiddlyumptious · 19/03/2010 02:06

Hello Ladies

The lucky streak continues (please God!) and I had my early scan today and the bean is in the right place and has a good heartbeat for 6 weeks, 1 day. Hurrah! Early days I know but had convinced myself that it was another ectopic due to funny pains.....fingers crossed for all of us lucky one tubers (ps I had ovulated out of my good side!) xx

boodleboot · 12/03/2010 08:43

brilliant news edwina. i tell u we gotta be the luckiest bunch of one tubers...i can't believe i will be fourteen wks monday!! that is crazy. that wait til 12wk is soooo long but u can do it i promise...who has next scan? xx

OP posts:
Scrumdiddlyumptious · 11/03/2010 21:43

oooh fabulous Edwina, I am so pleased, whilst as you say still a way to go, it must be a huge sigh of relief on the way. Its funny isn't it that in 'normal' pregnancy you have so many worries and for us there are a number of huge worries before you even get to the normal worries! And Appleton, I said exactly the same thing to my OB when he said to try not to worry and I said oh do you have a pill then that will knock me out for the next 10 weeks! Yay for all of us and gosh lets hope that in 7 days I get good news too (although have been having king of low down period pains on and off and then a funny twinge on my right hand side so still going through the days with large mixture of terror).

Appleton · 11/03/2010 19:16

fantastic news edwina! It's so hard sitting in the waiting room for that scan, but so worth it in the end! I know what you mean about the 12 week scan - I'm not telling anyone (even my parents) before then. It's actually been quite easy to keep the secret so far!

hope the wait for next Friday's scan isn't getting to you too much scrum - I sometimes wish they could invent something to knock me out for the first 12 weeks so I didn't have to live through all the waiting!
