Maybe I'm posting on the wrong topic here, but just wondering if anyone else is in this position and how long you have been trying for.

I have a 2.6yo just now, had a pg loss earlier this year, and still trying.

I'm 27 and just frustrated that it's taking ages.

It would be nice to chat to others in a similar situation.

Thanks

Can I join in on this thread too?

I have a 2.10 ds and have been ttc for nearly 6 months.

My son was conceived as a happy accident and I never thought it would take so long to get pregnant again.

Practically everyone I know (& plenty I don't) keeps asking when we are going to have another or if we are trying. Its driving me bonkers.

DBY1 · 12/11/2009 21:52

Hi Everyone

What fab news that you are pregnant Lovechoc - it gives us all hope!

I'm currently TTC no 2, with no1 3.5 yrs old. Having spent 3 yrs trying for no 1, we are in the middle of an IVF cycle, which is OK, but going on my experiences if you are over 30 and it's taking more than a year then don't let the GP's send you home without getting reffered, no point in not getting basic checks done on egg quality and sperm...

It's such a relief to read back through all these posts, I went back to work this year (PT) to stop myself from going crazy as everyone else popped out no 2, it is so hard when you want no 2 but they just don't arrive, that feeling of being the "only one with one"...Amazing to read back through the posts and see I wasn't that alone - thanks to all of you that have posted.

I'll update on the treatment, but good luck to all and best wishes for success - however it comes. x

cyanarasamba · 12/11/2009 20:55

Lovechoc - Wooo hoo! Congratulations! Have been away for a week and so missed you news. I have everything crossed for you.

The next few weeks are going to be stressful I know but hopefully not long to wait for a good scan! Only 6 weeks or so as compared to the 6 months you've been waiting for that BFP.

Maybe, just maybe, this is a lucky thread. Keep posting ladies! Good luck for Friday seanybosmummy.

seanybosmummysfedupwaiting · 09/11/2009 21:19

Hi everyone

Congratulations lovechoc, thats great news-i really hope its a lovely sticky bean

Everyone seems lovely on here. Im really sorry to hear of your losses, that must have been so heartbreaking.

Im 24 and have a ds of 25 mths. We have been ttc #2 for 18 mths, and i just had a hosp apt 2 weeks ago to check everything is ok.
Everything came back normal which consultant said is probably due to my recent weight loss of 17.5lb. I havent been ov up til now(only found out 2 mths ago following blood tests),but i had a nice big egg in my left ovary when i had the scan at my hosp appointment. The consultant reccommended me to get bding and we did,so im now just waiting to see if af arrives on friday [wringing hands nervously emoction)

lovechoc · 09/11/2009 18:57

thanks, but I'm not allowing myself to get excited until it is seen as viable at USS. I need to see a heartbeat IYKWIM.

I told everyone when I was about 6 weeks last time (earlier this year) then I lost the pregnancy a few weeks later. Have no intention of telling anyone until 12 weeks (if the pg lasts that long).

Fingers crossed you all get your BFP aswell. The waiting is so depressing.

Wow lovechoc, have everything crossed that it turns out right for you this time! Congratulations!

maxpower · 06/11/2009 22:43

oh, fingers crossed lovechoc

totally sympathise with everyone on here. my lo is 3.4 and i really wanted to have no2 before she turned 3. clearly that's not happened.

situation hasn't been helped as dh had work problems for most of last year coupled with some depression, so he (understandably) wasn't in the mood most of the time and it was generally a very stressful time for both of us.

it took us about 2 yrs TTC no1 so I'm not hugely surprised it's taking a long time now. havijng siad that, it doesn't make it any less frustrating. definitely need to make more time for sex though....

lovechoc · 06/11/2009 22:23

am in complete shock, took a HPT a few hours ago and it says...BFP!trying not to get excited as it didn't turn out well last time. good luck to everyone on this thread. I'm hoping this spreads quickly to you!

OP posts:
cyanarasamba · 05/11/2009 18:47

Ooops yes I should have read your post more carefully!!

TabithaTwitchet · 05/11/2009 16:25

You examine salivia on the microscope, not CM! (even I would draw the line at that ) My friend recommended it, after becoming pregnant in the 1st month using it. But obviously wouldn't personally reccomend it!
It was called ovatel

I agree, you can't force yourselves to have more sex than you would otherwise. We probably don't do it enough though, DD always seems to wake up at the wrong time.

Also agree about getting through AF with chocolate - I find a big mug of hot chocolate works wonders too.

lovechoc · 05/11/2009 12:59

I love chocolate! lol

best way to get over AF arriving is to eat plenty of it, that's what I've been doing every month so far. It makes you feel fab!

Yep, we can't do it any more than we're doing already. 5-6 times seems to be the limit for us each month. wish we could do it more but it just isn't happening. ah well, the little swimmer has to meet Planet Egg eventually...

OP posts:
cyanarasamba · 05/11/2009 10:04

scottishbird that must be incredibly frustrating. You must be due for some good news soon. But if you are ovulating on day 15 and doing the deed up till that day then I don't think you've been doing anything wrong as sperm are meant to hang around for a couple days aren't they? (Hey, what would I know though, I'm not getting very far!).

lovechoc When you're in it for the long haul as we are I don't think you can force yourselves to have sex more than is natural for you as a couple. Month after month it just gets too much and you can end up really resenting eachother I think. As you say it only takes once!

Really fed up today too, very heavy AF. Monday would have been my due date had I not miscarried in April so that is looming a bit. I've eated so much chocolate this week it's not funny (are you partial to this lovechoc?!).

scottishbird23 · 04/11/2009 20:00

We are in the same boat too.....our son has just turned 3 and we have been trying to conceive no.2 for over a year....So frustrating...all my mummy friends have number 2 now/or pregnant. We have had all the tests done and all is okay..I have been doing acupunture and chinese herbs for the last 2-3 months so I'm hoping this might help - its not cheap!! We have sex from about day 10 through till day 15....I used ovulation sticks this month and I don't ovu till day 15 so we have probably been missing it all this time.....
You just get fed up don't you.....I hope everyone is lucky soon.....I wanted 3 kids but I'm now 38 and so am facing reality that I might not even have 2!

lovechoc · 04/11/2009 19:32

Tabitha also never heard of that technique, how did you find out about that one?

OP posts:
lovechoc · 04/11/2009 19:32

The thing is some people hardly DTD and they fall pg all the same, it's very unfair.

Just flicking through my diary I've seen that the average is between 4-6 times a month, not really a great amount is it?? Averages out at about once a week DTD.

OP posts:
lovechoc · 04/11/2009 19:29

cyan am so sorry AF has caught up with you this month, I'm also waiting on AF, should be here any day now.

I also keep a note of DTD throughout the month too. So far days 10,14,17,23 and 26 this cycle. I honestly don't think we do it enough, have said to DH we should do it more but he says it's impossible (shift work). He is tired some night then I'm tired another night etc.

I have been to see the GP (July this year) but she says give it more time, it can take up to two years to conceive blah de blah. She wasn't willing to do any tests and told me to stop worrying, it will happen. I was told I don't display any of the classic symptoms of PCOS, so it's unlikely to be that.

OP posts:
cyanarasamba · 04/11/2009 14:50

AF is here, made me wait a day after spotting though which almost got my hopes up. Fingers crossed someone has better news this month.

Tabitha - examining CM on a microscope - never heard of that one!

Ok ladies - how much sex is enough? This month we did it on days 5, 8, 11, 13, 15 & 18 (DH has no idea I keep a log!). About average for us I think. I suppose ideally it would be more but it's such a lot of pressure month on month.

Suppose we'll keep pluging away but I'm not hopeful. Has anyone been to the doc yet? That's the next step I suppose

lovechoc · 03/11/2009 13:15

this thread has been busier than I thought it would be. Nice to see others who are going through a similar stage in their lives (not good, but you know what I mean!) now we can all be a support for one another.

It has to happen sometime. mintchoc sorry to hear about your news, but yes, we should be grateful for what we have. there is always some people worse off. Thankfully we all have healthy children, it is a lot to be grateful for. Still it doesn't help when everywhere you look people have 2 or more. Never used to be so aware as I am now.

Hope at least one of us has some good news this month.

OP posts:
TabithaWitches · 03/11/2009 12:39

Hiya cyan, I didn't try plotting temperature, just obsessively noting down changes in cervical mucus in my diary. I was also using an ovulation microscope, the ones where you look at your salivia on a slide and if there is a crystalline pattern then you are ovulating. DH forbade me to use it after I convinced myself I hadn't ovulated once the whole time I was using it - he blames the microscope and says that I am ovulating. I agreed it was making me miserable, so it has been put away now.
I am still aware of my cycles, and fertile time (supposing everything is ok) but I don't write it down any more.

Fingers crossed for everyone this month.

Allyinoz · 03/11/2009 03:12

I found this on a website and made me feel more positive.

The cumulative conception rate for women aged 35-39 is 60% after one year of trying and 85% at two years (Taylor 2003). While this may not sound so promising when you want to have a baby right now, these figures may be higher for women who are able to identify their fertile time and focus intercourse within the fertile window. Time to conception is considerably reduced when intercourse is focused within the most fertile window of the menstrual cycle (Hilgers et al 1992).

MintChocAddict · 03/11/2009 00:06

Hi All,

I'm in the same boat. Took 9 months to conceive DS (now nearly 3)and had a miscarriage in the summer after 1 year of trying this time for DS2.

Cycles only just starting to get back to normal now and they're longggggggg at the best of times, so will have a bigger than we wanted gap between DCs if we do go onto have a successful pregnancy.

I have people all around me with bumps and babies and it does get to me (particularly after miscarriage). However when I'm feeling down I think of my DB and DSIL who would be fabulous parents and would be ecstatic to have just one after years of trying and numerous failed IVF attempts, and I feel so grateful to have DS.

Despite all that, still can't help feeling frustrated though.

Positive thoughts and fingers crossed for all of us soon.

cyanarasamba · 02/11/2009 20:35

I'm feeling pretty good thanks lovechoc, went for a long walk today in the gorgeous sunshine and a swim yesterday - helps me feel a bit more positive.

But on the other hand, another month gone - waaahh!!!! When is it ever going to happen??

tabitha like you I am trying not to obsess but it's not always easy. Did you try temping at all when plotting cycles?

lovechoc · 02/11/2009 19:50

hi cyan how have you been? nope, i'm not feeling lucky at all. AF due any day now like yourself, so just a waiting game, as I'm irregular...such a pain. haven't felt the need to use a HPT out of curiosity though, have been kept on the go with other stuff thankfully to take my mind off it.

True, it's just got to happen to one of us eventually!

OP posts:
cyanarasamba · 02/11/2009 19:30

Fairly sure AF will be here tomorrow - bang on time. I always get a bit of spotting the day before which I've stopped trying to convince myself is implantation bleeding.

Anyone feeling lucky this month? Odds are someone must be getting that BFP soon!

LoujalouRocket · 31/10/2009 20:00

Nah you are not the only ones. DS was conceived in month 3 and am now on month 7 with TTC this time. It does get me down but has to happen one day. Least that is what I think on my more positive days other times I am convinced its not going to happen. I am a bit obsessed by it but have happy 19 month old, so try and focus on him and work and hubby as well.
