Typical gp assumed shirazz couldn't tell the difference between a 25mg prog. cream and homeopathy!

Shirazz · 01/12/2009 10:31

Guys! take "mummy" off the bus!

Shirazz · 01/12/2009 10:30

Mabh,
I think I may have got it wrong. I think he said before he even looked up what I was taking that "It is probably a type of homeopathic cream you were using so I wouldn't worry, can you remember the name?" and then he looked it up online and said it was 25mg a day but to be honest he didn't mention anything about homeopathy after he looked at it and just showed me the dose he prescribes vaginally compared with what I was getting.

Good luck to all x

mabh · 01/12/2009 09:39

shirazz I think your doctor needs to look up homeopathy. If it was homeopathic, it wouldn't have any progesterone in it (long story...). Presumably he/she was abusing the term instead of just saying it's a low dose. It's not the same thing (grrr. I don't mind gps not liking alternative therapies, but they aren't helpful when they spread confusion through ignorance). Glad the low dose is good news, though.

nymph glad it's cleared up. Last time I had it, it got into my kidneys and I felt like I was carrying a leaden backpack.

I'm getting towards the end of my cycle. I have no symptoms other than a bit of a midriff nag, which fits. And a bad mood. Gah.

Medee · 30/11/2009 21:56

still here, delaying testing a couple of days, as I reckon I am onto a 42 day cycle.

Shirazz · 30/11/2009 18:53

Just got back from GP to ask about this progesterone cream fiasco I got myself in - he looked it up and turns out since it's a homeopathic ? [sp] dose - even the 25mg dose dose doesn't absorb anywhere near that amount and he said stopping it would have a very low and insignificant effect given the amount my body will be making itself. So although he said not to worry about it as it would be the prescribed pills or vaginal ones that would be a problem so i'm glad I went and feel much happier.
Good luck to all of you testing this week

nymphadora · 30/11/2009 18:09

Just about gone now but will look out for cranberry capsules for next time , sounds so much better than the juice

mabh · 30/11/2009 14:34

Congratulations shirazz and mummy.

Hope you've recovered, nymph but if it's still lingering you can get cranberry capsules that are sugar-free and hence a better option that cranberry juice for the squirm. I don't get it often, but when I do, it's bad. Argh.

Loujalou · 30/11/2009 12:46

Plant will the chemist do a blood test for you or is there some where you can pay to have one done? Stupid doctors - they could be a bit more sympathetic?

PlantASeedWatchItGrow · 30/11/2009 10:13

jollster I know, I read loads of stories on the net went there quite positive, but then he just shattered it all, and made me feel stupid for thinking I could be PG even though I'd had -tive tests. What I'm really not sure about is how long I should wait until I either test again, or go back to docs?

sparkly hope this is your month, it's rubbish having to wait so long when you know your ready. Hopefully you will be holding a little baby August next year!

randomimposter · 30/11/2009 09:29

who not you... doh!

SparklyAlice · 30/11/2009 09:28

Just typical ov pain, but sure AF on the way. We will be having a break from TTC after this cycle. DH's work is very unflexible at certain times of year so really not ideal to have any babies during the Autumn or early part of spring. Which doesn't leave us much to play with which means we will have to wait till next August to try again. It will have the added benefit of DD being at pre-school though.

Maybe DD was just a complete fluke and we should be grateful, but we really want a big family...

randomimposter · 30/11/2009 09:27

oh dear plant... not sure that Doctor is totally correct though..? Have heard lots of people you have continued to test negative and are pregnant - I hope you are one of these cases...
Sorry he wasn't very sympathetic though...

Chin up x

PlantASeedWatchItGrow · 30/11/2009 09:19

Thanks Sparkly working all week unfortunatly! Although I will probably be going shopping later in the week, but only for the hundreds of Christmas presents I seem to have to buy every year!

It is really rubbish, I just wish that if I'm not PG then Af will hurry up and arrive so that I can get trying again!

How are you feeling? Any more pain?

SparklyAlice · 30/11/2009 08:50

plant poor you, that is really rubbish. Is there anything you can do that will cheer you up a little? Lunch out? The cinema, christmas shopping If it is just a waiting game, make the most of the waiting iyswim?

PlantASeedWatchItGrow · 30/11/2009 08:40

Congratulations on the BFP!!

Sorry to those of you feeling rough, it's not good!

Well I'm still waiting for AF, went to the doctors on Friday, he left me feeling so stupid and dissapointed. Basically just said if I've had -tive tests then I'm definitely not PG. He said I will just have to wait for AF to arrive and it could be next cycle, so basically missed a period. I told him I was sure I had ov'ed on day 16, and could you still not get a period even though I ov'ed and he said yes. So I am feeling crap right now. Just a waiting game now, basically he said I should wait another month for AF?? WTF!! Feel blurgh and hate my body right now!

Sorry to post in such a bad mood, I havn't posted all weekend because I have felt so crap about it all.

SparklyAlice · 30/11/2009 08:21

Morning ladies

Feeling a bit jittery today as AF arrived on CD23 last cycle and i have got a bit of pain, although more like ovulation pain than AF pain tbh. Not holding out any hope this time though. Was feeling quite positive yesterday, but because of the pains and the fact AF arrived this time last cycle, just a bit bleugh.

Have a good day everyone

randomimposter · 30/11/2009 07:53

lovely to see those BFPs - well done and very sticky thoughts to you all.

house full of cold this end, so am not very confident that we'll get the required action in at the right time...

oh well there's always the September bus...

wishing you all jolly weeks x

Fanjolina oh good - I was considering going to the GP tomorrow to ask him as I have been in a panic but suspect he will think i'm a nutter dh has done some research and he is a doc (however the wrong sp) but he reckons the curve of it dropping your levels with a few days missed would be very slight. he also reckons that although it says 25 mg from one squirt, there is no where near that amount absorbed and it takes several months of use to build up to a decent level anyway. I feel more comforted from what you have said rather than him though Also, I have no evidence that my body doesn't make the normal amount itself anyway, so I would imagine that even stopping using it wouldn't make much difference unless you were deficient to start with? But I may be wrong... and a nutter Anyway, here's hoping that it shows up in the post tomorrow....
