Hi. I am just at the begining of an egg donation cycle. I am donating to friends of very very good friends who have had several cycles and have reached this point.

I started a thread previously, but have started one with donation in the title, I think lots of people think about donating or recieving donor eggs, and so I thought this might be interesting.

This is the 2nd day of treatment.

I have 2 girls, 5yo and nearly 9 months. I have wound up the breastfeeding onver the last few weeks to allow the treatment to commence. It was hard juggling the needs of the baby against the needs of the couple - I think I hit a good half way house. 8 months exclusive bring is nothing to sniff at from bubba pov [though I think she would go and go an go], and 8 months wait was quite enough for this couple. In my opinion, they have been nothing but accomodating and thoughtfull and lovely and would have waited and waited. It must be so hard for them thuugh.

I kind of hope to relactate - that will be another thread!

So here we go, wish us luck. I'm hoping the power of mumsnet will send many positive vibes our way.

Bring on the questions btw - I'm really happy to answer and explain anything.

crossing fingers and lurking for news.

How about baking some of this for DD1? I just did some for DS2 who is off school today, feeling poorly. Actually, my DS3 who is the same age as your DD2 LOVES play dough too!

MICROWAVE PLAYDOUGH

2 mugs of plain flour, 2 mugs of salt, 2 mugs of cold water, 2 tspns of oil, food colouring, 4 tspns of Cream of Tartar. Mix all ingredients together in large bowl.

Cook in microwave for 1 minute on high power.

Remove and stir well.

Cook in microwave for 1 minute more.

Knead well.

treedelivery · 30/11/2009 11:42

Sadly I am chained to my 10 month old who only sleeps in my arms for about 20 mins after a one hour slog to induce sleep

Cup of tea should see me right. Would love to do some baking though. Those were the days! I have a hankering for homemade bakewell tart, and everything I need except eggs. Darn it.

Northernlurker · 30/11/2009 11:37

I think you should get some yeast and bake some bread actually. Put all your energy into the kneading - it's great therapy and a bit less obvious than shouting

treedelivery · 30/11/2009 11:33

Actually today I feel better. Thank you very much Northern.

I'm glad someone responded, I feel like I need an audience . This couple are there now, getting pregnant. It is totally mental. They have been through so many dissapointments, but this is different. There is so much riding on this.

I feel like a raving loony!! Like I need to stand on a hill and scream and shout really loud.

OP posts:
Northernlurker · 30/11/2009 11:25

That sounds great! You have given them such a good start, you really have.

How do you feel today? Still sore? If so I think you should just keep an eye on that as I assume as with any invasive procedure there is a risk of post procedure infection?

treedelivery · 30/11/2009 11:20

Wibble!!

This is it!!

Transfer day!! They are on their way in now.

a 9 cell, 4x 8 cell, a 7 and a 6.

Apparently that is good.

OMG. OMG. OMG. Please implant and embed and get cozy in there. C'mon!!!!

OP posts:
treedelivery · 29/11/2009 21:31

Thanks Northernlurker

My tummy aches a bit this eve. Its like early labour meets bad period meets wind meets constipation.

Pah! It genuinely feels better when I rest so that's a bonus

I've googled too and my results agree with stripey Will keep on thinking of all - fingers crossed!

treedelivery · 29/11/2009 15:04

Implantable is a great word! Especially if it describes these embryos!! Thank you for that stripey, I consider google the enemy when I want information that really matters iyswim? It nearly always tells me something I really didn't want to know.

OP posts:
stripeywoollenhat · 29/11/2009 14:22

implantable is probably not a word, though

stripeywoollenhat · 29/11/2009 14:19

tree - i googled and what i found suggests they're both implantable grades, so fingers crossed

treedelivery · 29/11/2009 13:09

Can someone who knows tell me if 4 grade 1's and 3 grade 2's is good, fair, average, so-so or what?

They are day 2, transfer is tomorrow on day 3. x

Gah! Waiting to hear that parents have heard from embryologist...if you see what I mean.

It's like waiting for exam results!

I think it is grading day today so an interesting and important one.

Thinking of all. Come on cells - divide, divide!

swampster · 28/11/2009 13:35

Seven is brilliant. It only takes one! [hugs hugs hugs hugs hugs hugs hugs]

treedelivery · 28/11/2009 12:54

Thank you. Thank you very much. Am need of virtual hugs today - I think the anxiety has finally caught up with me! My work is done now, I get to fade into the back ground and let the parents get on with making their baby. I just really really wish I had had a better response and they had a few more eggs to play the statistics game with. Anyway, now the running about and do-ing is over, I have the head space to really really worry!

So today - all 9 fertilised. One is too young, and one got 2 sperm in there, so we have lost 2.

Hopefully though, the remaining 7 will carry on. I hope hope hope so. Updates tomorrow and then put back day on Monday. Unless they feel they should go to blastocyst stage.

It was interesting yesterday. Till after the actual retrieval, all the staff had talked to me about what was going on with me, the scans, the folicles...and so on. Once they had reported back on the actual retrieval, they then talked to the parents - about the egss, and fertilising, and cell counts etc etc. It was interesting to see the shift. It was good too. This is their party and it served as a little reminder to me to fade out, bugger off and let them get on with getting pregnant.
I will always be led by them, if they want me at every birthday party this child has - I'll be there. Delighted to be there. However, they won't be telling the embryologist how little Jonny got on with his 1st immunisations, so I am mindfull that whilst I am a little more than the medical team - I'm not much more in the bigger scheme. This is their show. I helped put the show on the road but that is all. It is quite humbling to get a glimpse into someone else's marriage. To see how close they are, how their dynamics work, to be a little involved in such a private act of creating a baby.

God please please please send them a baby. They are such diamonds, have been so respectfull and jolly, understanding and thoughtful. They would feel their luck. Send them a baby.

9 eggs? Oh that is wonderful - great work there tree!

Fingers crossed for the next step but whatever happens you have done a truly fantastic job and should be very proud of yourself and your lovely ovaries.

swampster · 28/11/2009 10:27

Today, these will mostly be representing eggs:

EdgarAllenPoo · 28/11/2009 10:12

hurray!!!!!

no egg emoticon sadly...otherwise there'd be nine of them here ..

ooooooooo

treedelivery · 27/11/2009 22:43

Oh EdgarAllanPoo - sorry Hopefully next month.....

WE got 9 eggs. Hurrah!! They are in a dish working their magic right now.

Am wiped out and a bit sore so will fill in tomorrow. It was totally fine though.

AM delighted with egg count. Apparently it's a normal number and very average - so not fertility Goddess status, but a good sound working number.

Northernlurker · 27/11/2009 17:25

Been thinking of you and the eggs.
Re the Wednesday post I did read it and think 'whaaaat?' before I realised - unfortunate typo!

EdgarAllenPoo · 27/11/2009 15:05

sending the all goes well vibe<

hurray for follicles!

seems like two seconds since this started...i've negged on my pg test again so that pushes things back for me another month. bugger.

also crossing everything for two weeks time

treedelivery · 27/11/2009 00:04

Hi swampster Hilarity is this baby will be sort of mixed race [correct term?]

I actually feel rather like I did the night before my induction was booked! Clearly crazy.

Check out my typos earlier. Must be a bag of nerves!! Still, have managed huge dinner, half a pack of biscuits and a marzipan bar - so I am not too badly affected

OP posts:
swampster · 26/11/2009 23:58

Way to go tree, will be thinking of you.
