Hardly the most original title but I didn't want to loose anyone (well that's my excuse for the lack of originality!)

[TFLS waves back madly] Tetley - so lovely to have you on board here. Although I wish you hadn't had to find us for obvious reasons.

They never told me my levels. I wonder if it is residual hormone left in your body and hopefully it will drop quickly. It must seem like another blow/worry to have deal with at the moment - sorry. If you don't get an answer, maybe try the Miscarriage Association helpline - I've heard people say it is very good but I've no idea how much technical info they can provide.

How are you doing today?

tetleytea · 19/11/2009 14:17

Hi All,

Can I join you? Am/Was(!)a regular on the 40+ board. (Waves to TFLS!)

Have just posted this on mc board but then thought you ladies might be able to help me out here...

I've just been told I have an hcg level of 1200 one week after the mc and that "it's a bit high". If it doesn't come down they say i'll have to have an erpc. Am terrified of that... At the scan they gave me the same day they took the blood sample they said that they could see some clots, but were pretty satisfied it had all gone quite well.

Can anyone tell me what kind of levels they had? Am trying not to worry and have faith in my body. I'm bleeding very very little now, so i feel like "it's all over" but...

Thanks for any help

fingerscrossedlegsopen · 19/11/2009 09:09

Hi all

Cheepz hols plan sounds amazing, and there's loads of stats on hols improving chance of conception so we will be crossing everything for you!

I know what you mean re the job thing. I was due June next year so hanging on in there and thinking of career change to s/t more flexible after mat leave. After mc,I am now thinking - what the f*, life is too short maybe a change now would take my mind off TTC? Change is as good as a rest and all that? Am also with you on the tempting fate thing, new job and whoops up the duff! (That's what happened with DS1, started my own business, month 1, pg!) Here's hoping.....

Zayja classic story re therapist, but sorry it wasn't a better experience. Got my first appointment today!!

TFLS re sperm quality - I read that the old wives tale re going blind from too much masturbation/sex was due to the loss of zinc in the sperm, hence decline in quality. This was saying many times a day would cause that not once (not sure where I would get the energy from for even one every 2 days mind...!). I also think if DP/DH has zinc rich diet + supplements then as much BD as poss surely wouldn't harm??

Louisesh - very impressed with that schedule - you are inspiring me when I get back to it;)

Have added myself to the list. Waiting for that first AF post mc.....feeling so impatient but still BFP, nausea, sore breasts, bloody body needs to sort itself out. Can't wait to add myself to the TTC list.

Cheepz · 18/11/2009 21:24

hi all

feeling much better now its CD2! i hate CD1 its just soooo right back to the start.

hols in 3 days - leave sat night to dubai and then transfer to next plane to cape town, and we are business class all the way (because we thought i would be big and fat and pregnant by now when we booked it!!) still at least it will be a treat and ds has own seat so we will have loads of space and he will love it.

2 weeks of sun and a second week of bd mania means we may come back with BIO. But I have decided I am going to apply for a new job at work as I need a change

Have been hanging in job for last 6 months because keep thinking will get pregnant and can't be bothered to move and don't want to move and then lumber new boss with preganacy and mat leave etc. But after last month have become too obsessed with trying to get pg because I am putting everything on hold until it happens.

I figure if i get a new job it will actually make me feel like would be better not to get pg right away so will not be so obsessed as will have new focus and want to do a good job of new job before getting 'knocked up'

it will of course invioke sods law and I will get pg straight away

boodle so good to have you back on board and so impressed with your emotional recovery - also share your optimistic stance on life so there with you lady.

tfls and zayja thanks for kind words and think you are both bonkers for letting anyone stick needles in you!!!

louisesh · 18/11/2009 17:58

Hi all ZAYJA you re accunpuncturist sounds awful mine is lovely, really friendly we have a lovely chat while i m lying there with the needles in place!!!!

Managed to BD day 6,8,10,11,13 and all being well, tonight day 15.....Been hard work soo far when did sex become soo unspontaneous? Do n t hold out much hope though...Just accepting it won t happen....Just chasing up follow up appt for re-current miscarriage clinic it all grinds soo slowly.

Hi to all "new recruits" to the thread, wish you luck with it all.

thefatladyscreams · 18/11/2009 13:54

Oh a 19 year old - DH is definitely not that, bless him!

Maybe the cramps are non-cycle related? Avoid those evil testing sticks for as long as you can!

OP posts:
randomimposter · 18/11/2009 12:39

oooo zayja your practitioner sounds like a real find ....
TFLS I read/heard/imagined that every other day is best for sperm quality unless you're bedding a 19 year old.... or maybe that's what I told myself as no way I could summon the inclination for every day ...

now think the spotting and cramping i have had is too much for implantation... as in over too many days , today is day 5. Wonder whether it's a prolonged early start to AF. Last month my cycle was extra long at 33 days, maybe this month is going to be extra short and even me back up to my average of 27ish. Who knows?? Will hold out to test until Sat which will be CD25... but maybe the wicked witch will make that unnecessary... boo...

thefatladyscreams · 18/11/2009 11:26

Aghhh had just typed up a long post and the site crashed.

What a nightmare zayja. I'd swop him if I were you (but your description did make me laugh). I saw a hynotherapist years ago who gave me the creeps and had this weird nasal whistle - there was a never a cat in hell's chance that it would work as I was too busy trying not to giggle. My lady is lovely and discusses my temp charts etc in loads of detail and gives me lots of info, for example how my pulse reflects where I am in my cycle. Sorry you had such a raw deal.

cheepz it doesn't seem fair how the body can trick us but all part of the joy (clenched teeth) of this TTC business. How long til the hols?

Good to hear from you tigerbear and glad you've won the battle with BT. I read something about Zita West at the Fertility Show where she said couples should try every couple of days - so you could still get back on schedule following her advice! It did make me think whether there was a reduction in sperm quality if you tried every day (which we've been doing). Does anyone know?

jollster - fingers crossed it's implantation bleeding for you.

OP posts:
boodleboot · 18/11/2009 11:25

oooh lots of EWCM today so will be dancing the baby-tango this evening.....feeling very optimistic (are you suprised!! ever the optimist....) So excited to be on a proper cycle with you guys again.....no more tippytoeing around....the capacity the mind and body has to heal from trauma is totally amazing and i really think the counselling has really helped me in so many ways.

really praying for some good news jollster - we are due a BFP and this thread could do with a lucky streak.....

still listening to my 'female fertility enhancer' meditation at bedtime on my ipod and it is really helping relax me and visualise creating a happy healthy baby home....only cost a tenner to down load and anything to help with the stress has to be good eh! i can email it over to any of you that want it if you provide the email address....share and share alike!!

zayja · 18/11/2009 00:58

Always hold out hope for the implantation bleed joll!

zayja · 18/11/2009 00:56

Welcome newbies, sorry for your recent experiences but glad that you found this thread, lots of good advice and support here. sun, isn't it strange that it happened when you were least expecting it?! Makes me think that it's true what they say about not stressing over it, but that's so hard and NOT really what I want to hear. Time feels of the essence. Will you still be starting Clomid in Jan.?

fingers, definitely leave the house a mess next time the folks come.

Cheepz, so sad AF caught up with you. It's a real heartbreaker when your own body and mind betray you on such an emotional matter! Good that your DH is being a dear.

TFLS, I don't think you're kidding yourself about getting pregnant. It might just take a little more work than it woulda 20 years ago. Hang in there, I think it'll happen for you.

As for me, acupuncture was a joke! My practitioner looked like Robert Downey Jr. with Kramer (from Seinfeld) hair and a bedside manner to match! I asked him what acupuncture would do for my fertility and he just replied "it's hard to explain" !!?? I was then left in a COLD room for 20 min., needles sticking out everywhere - totally uncomfortable. To top it off, I thought he'd tell me a little something about the balance of my qi, but...NOTHING. Just, "hope to see you next week." Fat chance .

Well, am currently in the 2ww and trying to be patient as well as not even start to get hopes up.

randomimposter · 17/11/2009 21:04

hi - sorry have been lurking but not posting much.

Sorry cheepz hope you are ok.

Am CD21 today and have had some spotting and low cramping over the last 3 days... am wondering (and hoping against all hope) if that might be implantation....

Will try and hold out until at least the weekend to POAS. Sort of don't want to build my hopes up.

tigerbear · 17/11/2009 19:30

Hello everyone - sorry I haven't posted in ages. Been away, and then didn't have internet for a while because of a stupid BT mistake (a long story!).
Not much happening here - had first 'normal' period last week, and am now telling DH we have to do a bit of BDing EVERY day for the next week or so. He seems quite pleased about that, but we've only managed it once so far!
How is everyone?? Welcome to the newbies on this thread.

Cheepz · 17/11/2009 19:19

updated list - kept self on same day as counting today as CD1

fingers not sure what cd you are on so feel free to repost and update

tfls thanks - it is wierd how much you can convince yourself based on symptoms and the like. dh was wonderful about it so am feeling much better today

busy at work with run up to hols

Sorry guys that I've not been online. We went away for a long weekend (my 41st birthday ). Was lovely but turning 41 has made me think whether we're kidding ourselves about having a child.

cheepz gutted for you. Had really hoped it was the month. I thought I might be pregnant a couple of months ago and it is amazing how the body can trick itself - at least my AF had the decency to turn up early and save me all the POAS agony. Holidays are very good for getting pregnant - so roll on next month.

Welcome fingerscrossed - sorry to hear about your m/c. Do you think you could still have some residual hormones that are causing the nausea (or have you already tested negative - just a thought). at your dad and stepmother's comments - I know people struggle to know what to say but it seems very poor that they didn't even phone. Your stepmother's comment about sperm levels and house work does take the biscuit for one of the weirdest comments I've heard in a while....

sunburnt - sorry you're going through all this. What is the latest possible date you might have conceived? I think scans can be pretty inconclusive prior to 6-7 weeks.

bigmuther - happy belated birthday you youngster. Sorry to hear your news. I'm probably being thick but what test route - testing recurrent miscarriage? Maybe just get your name on the list and see how you feel nearer the time?

beaufies - so glad to read that you're doing OK (well as far as you can in the circumstances). I think your positivity is spot on.

boodle - I believe nature has a way of correcting itself - amazing isn't it. I guess you will need to play spot the ovulation signs at your next cycle to know which side is in play?

meita - how are you doing? Hope work isn't too busy. What is the tea you referred to?

barrenbrook congrats on the new house. Just wait til that garden takes off in the spring. New house, new baby? Here's hoping.

fingerscrossedlegsopen · 17/11/2009 09:32

Thanks for the welcome on board!

Cheepz thanks for adding me to the list. Sorry that AF arrived - hopefully next month will be yours- baby dust and Christmas magic?

Sunburn really sorry to hear about your situation and thinking about you. Good luck with the scan tomorrow - are you asking for a TV? could be that just too early to see much via normal one?

Cake I get that stabbing pain in the side when OV. If you are on heat it all sounds good ;)!!

Going to have a little rant I'm afraid. Although it's been a while I still hadn't told my Dad and SM re losing the baby - they knew it was threatened but tbh didn't get in touch. Eventually rang them yesterday, went like this:-

Dad "well it must have been for a reason" (no Sh*t Sherlock!)

SM " oh well, you're still young (am 39?!) and there's always next time. Also said, did you know men who do housework have low sperm count? (my DP is a devil with the hoover) - WHAT is that all about??? (now thinking will leave the place a tip when they next come around and have a great excuse!!!;) )

Got v upset - just felt like NIL sympathy and understanding.

Sorry, rant over. Going to call Docs to book in next scan to double check all "passed" as still feeling v odd + quite alot of pain. Was anyone else also v nauseous 2 weeks post mc?

Thanks! Good luck all, x

Cheepz · 16/11/2009 17:20

boodle you are doing a stellar job of being super supporter today. thanks

i have finished sulking, am going to go back to being super cautious from now on!!

welcome fingers glad you found us and like our little thread I was planning to do a list tomorrow when I send myself back to the bottom so will add you then

sounds like you are in a far worse place than me sunburnt we feel your pain and know just how you feel - hope we can give you some tlc

sunburntats · 16/11/2009 17:16

boodle, i had stopped charting in August because i was due to start clomid in Jan.

I viewed it as breathing space, no need to chart, no need to put on the calender any dates any more, til January.

It was an unexpected complete and utter surprise after 3 years of charting, timing bding and doing the deed every other day for 2 weeks of cycle...just to make sure!!
We just did the deed once, cant even remember when!
And bfp after feeling "funny".

No period in October, but defo a period in Septemebr, cant remember when.
So unlike all previous mc's, i have no idea of dates.

But scan says i have a 1cm empty sac. Going back on Wednesday to see if anything has developed in it.

Not holding out any hope at all.

boodleboot · 16/11/2009 16:33

ahhh bugger....so sorry - whats your dates and times of LMP etc for this PG sunburnt?

sunburntats · 16/11/2009 15:57

it does make sence boodle thankyou.

I am just clutching at straws hoping against hope that the last scan was empy becuase it was just too soon to show any thing.

I think that i am going to hold out for a bit more time this time.
Always just wanted the whole thing "over and done with" so opted for tabs & pessaries, but this time, i am going to hang on for another few weeks.
I have another scan on Wed, see what that shows. I had some brown discharge and cramps last night, but now normal discharge, and no cramps. Very sore boobs, feel very very tired and tearful today.
Havent had any more bloods as it is just slow torture tbh.
I know in my heart that this will lead to another mc. I can never muster any positive thoughts around pregnancy and me, nevr, they just dont come.
I cant even be bothered to be sad, but just occasionally, i need to cry.

I am a good person., we are good people, we just dont understand why this keeps happening to us.

boodleboot · 16/11/2009 15:49

fingers - please join us, always room for more ladies willing to reveal all the intimate aspects of their journey to TTC....sorry you have found us tho IYSWIM

sunburnt - as i understand it you have at the very least a 12day luteal phase as it takes 12 days to implant...so you would be maximum 17 days since conception.... but you could have up to a 16 day luteal phase (as i do) which would only make it 11 days since concpetion....hope that helps

sending to you bigmutha - if it were me i wouldn't go the test route....it all takes time and i am waaaaaay to impatient for all that. We will all support you if you want to just get straight back on the horse (so to speak....not calling your husband a horse )

fingerscrossedlegsopen · 16/11/2009 14:35

Now then lovely ladies, I wonder whether there is room for another post mc waiting TTC?

I just love this thread and it would be great to join the journey?

I have just had 1st mc at 8 weeks a couple of weeks ago, got DS and DSS so feel very lucky but would so much like a little sibling for the boys.

Am now on the road to WTF but still testing BFP post mc (very cruel isn't it the continuation of the symptoms?) so thinking may be some considerable time..... isn't the waiting agony? Hormones all over the place..

Good luck to you all! ( my stats - TTC#2UCL28WTF (I think that's right!!)

sunburntats · 16/11/2009 14:33

can i ask a daft question please???

if you get a bfp on the very day that your af is due, how many weeks are you aprox? Not by LMP or any of that stuff, how many weeks aprox since conception if you have a cycle of 29 days?

I cannot work out how far gone i am and its driving me mad.
Any one know?

bigmuther65 · 16/11/2009 14:25

Well been to doctor and he seems to think maybe had a chemical pregnancy, left a sample with nurse on friday affternoon which showed possitive, but sample they took today was negative. Now left with a difficult choice as if i go down the test route have to wait for the process which can take quite a few months,or do i just put it down to nature apparently quite common to suffer a very early MC.So now thinking i could take addvantage of the so said extra period of fertility after MC,i just wish i had never poas in the first place and would of been none the wiser.I know it is a decision that i need to make just wish there was a easy answer,i just feel differnt this time my last 2 MC were awlful felt a massive sense of lost.
