Hardly the most original title but I didn't want to loose anyone (well that's my excuse for the lack of originality!)

Hi everyone,

Hope you don't mind me joining you all. I miscarried last week. Found out at my 12 week scan my baby had died at about 9 weeks. Was my second pregnancy and I feel guilty that maybe I was just taking everything for granted a little because everything was so straight forward with DS1. Horrible shock and still feel deeply sad but lots of great support from staff and friends/family so doing ok.

Really scared about trying again but also just want to start ttc as soon as possible. What are people's thoughts about how quickly to start ttc....should we really wait for AF to return and then try the next cycle? I am so impatient but also know that's maybe the sensible thing to do!

Fingers crossed for all of you tring to get back on the rollercoaster

Effilump · 21/12/2009 12:09

Congratulations to Apples, thats wonderful news, twins! For the record, where ages are concerned, im 39, well 40 really as its my birthday in a few weeks.

Sarahlou8 · 21/12/2009 10:16

Good morning,

Just noticed I am on the list so thought I'd add my stats,

ttc#3 ucl 27 days, cycle 1, CD3

sam - I mc 4 weeks ago and didn't take any precautions this month, I just thought if my body is ready it will happen. I usually have a regular 27 day cycle and AF came just 3 days late this month, which has amazed me.
I feel okay, a bit disappointed but I'm pretty certain I was showing signs of ovulating while I was still bleeding so I'm not totally surprised.

Viv - Our baby was too little to have a funeral, but we did have a memorial service organised by the hospital and it was lovely, I feel it gave us a chance to say goodbye. I have a memory box with my scan photo, a teddy that I'd bought and a few bits and pieces and that helps too.

Anyway, onwards and upwards as they say. I am feeling a bit more positive this morning, I am thinking new AF - new start.

Hope everyone else is ok x

VivClicquot · 21/12/2009 09:53

Oh thank you Yorky, that's so lovely of youu. I think we're doing as well as we possibly can be - and the wedding and honeymoon were amazing. Just perfect in every way.

Hope everyone over there is doing okay? Will pop in and say hi from time to time. xx

Yorky · 21/12/2009 09:51

Viv - I'm not stalking you! just saw your name and nipped across from May to hope your big day and honeymoon weren't overshadowed by your decision and loss. I'm still impressed by the strength it must have taken.
Good luck for the future

VivClicquot · 21/12/2009 09:45

Morning ladies - and thank you for the lovely welcome back. Especially to sarahlou, I'm so sorry you're here with me.

And a big massive congrats to apples - that's such brilliant news.

DH and I are doing okay - obviously losing this baby feels a lot more raw than losing the first, as this time it was our decision to end things due to the severity of the abnormality - plus I was further along and had to deliver her. But we got to name her - Gracie - and have a funeral for her, which has really helped us grieve.

As for adding me to the list, my vitals are as follows:

ttc #1, ucl - no idea, cycle - 1, CD16

I conceived on D13 with Gracie so am using that as my guide, so last week was a 'busy' week, shall we say.

Anyway, hope you all had lovely weekends and have a lovely Christmas week.

SamanthaB123 · 21/12/2009 08:42

Thanks...so: ttc #3, ucl 28, c1, cd6.

Anybody have any advice when ttc following a mc? Will my cycle be 28 days this month or is it unpredictable? Doctor said it was fine to go for it and should I conceive this month a dating scan will be needed.

As a matter of interest how do I know if everything came out during mc? I mc'd at 5 weeks, bled very heavily for 3 days and have had light bleeding for another 3 so far. I assume that's all ok?

boodleboot · 21/12/2009 08:20

ok sam - loss is loss....no feelings of fraud even allowed here hun....hop on the sofa and get ready to spill TMI on a regular basis...

acronyms as follows, mine for example...

Boodleboot: Trying to Conceive number 3
Usual Cycle Length: 28days
Cycle {how many months been trying} 2
Cycle Day 12

It is a terribly sad business TTC sometimes but also very uplifting to share the common journey with others.....heres hoping for christmas beans for us all....

SamanthaB123 · 21/12/2009 07:24

Hi all, there are some lovely stories as well as sad ones aren't there? I am feeling less emotional after mc last week. I guess my hormones are returning to normal levels. As I have 2 dd's and just 1 mc I'm still feeling optimistic that next time will be successful.

I too feel like a bit of a fraud when I read about people who don't have any children and multiple mc's. I am just so sorry to hear about such sad experiences.

We are going to just start ttc as soon as we can this month and keep everything crossed that it happens quickly. I was surprised that we had conceived at the fist attempt last month - that must be a good sign surely? I'd like to be on the 'list' but (sorry if I'm a bit thick) I don't understand the acronyms - can someone let me know what the all stand for?

Cheepz · 20/12/2009 22:08

good weekend

louisesh know what you mean about - if i had known it was going to be this hard would have said bugger the career and got it all done in twnties - instead of being here in late thirties ...

re: your dh - don't stress - we are all there, if i don't make advances I am lucky to see any action too - think dh's switch off abit with all the pressure, and as you say libidos slide

its especially frustrating straight after mc when you are just desparate to be pregnant again, but i am finding now it has been a while i am less frenetic about it.

apples woot woot on the twins - wow, although like mrsr i have mega twin envy - how cute is that going to be

meita keeping it all crossed for you xxxx

CakeandFineWine · 20/12/2009 20:24

MrsRigby · 20/12/2009 12:42

Just thought I'd check in whilst pooing in the downstairs toilet.

DH has just told me to stop what I'm doing and get out as we're about to meet some friends now.

louisesh · 20/12/2009 10:05

Morning all.

Sorry to VIV its crap isn t it? Nice to "meet" you though!!!!

Congrate APPLES glad you ve published your age as i ve just turned 39 and quite often feel my age is against me!!!!

Hi MEITA hope you re well....

Hi BOODLE and MRS R

HiSARAHLOU8 hugs to you we ve all been through a whole pile of crap as well soo can empathise with you xx

I m having some issues to deal with!!!! Me and DH fallen out since last wed the stress of ttc BD after 2 years is getting to us.We were going to try to BD last wed and DH said the same but before work we go to the gym then work, then thought we ll have a bit before tea oh no "too tired" then when we go to bed "oh too tired again" !!!!! Me left upset again and frustrated DH piss*d off!!!!
As DH is nearly 39 his libdo has tailed off slighty where as im approaching my sexual peak [i ll be 40 next year] our wants/needs are clashing.[its hime thats too tired}

We ve tried the approach of non ttc BD [every 2-3 days]but realistically doesn t work as again DH , if i don t instigate it, can go 2 weeks without wanting sex....We ve tried "help" like "natural" viagra but the lack of libdo is in his head not elsewhere!!!!

Pardon the pun: but its soo hard to be "jollying" our sex life up all the time soo at the moment feel very distant towards him Also think what is the point in me TTC again just to MC again , if we haven t yet seen anyone about our chromosome problem....

Sorry for long post, all these thoughts going round in my head and need to vent them. Also another bugbear at present 1 of my colleagues her 18 yr old daughter pg,due in march and i m finding i don t want to hear about it.Shes had problems like bleeding but all ok and i m just sick of hearing these people who always fear the worst but are always ok...where as i m always thinking i ll be ok and the worst has happened 3X!!!

This 18 yr old has crap bf ,don t have own home etc.....you know the story but she ll be fine as people like that always are....Where as me and Dh Have done everything "correctly" to no avail....own home, good jobs would provide finicially for own child etc.......If i known it was going to be like this i d have got myself "knocked" up 20 years ago by an unknown and not got myself a career!!!

Sorry realise my post is a bit "mangy" Just have to "vent" hope my post doesn t depress you all

On the plus side our xmas tree is up yeh!!!! We have a lovely black tree and each year we finally put it up i remember how much i like it!!!!We also got some new tree decorations from Bruges and Maceys in New York, i like reminders from travels ....

Thanks everyone on here for understanding where i m coming from and listening as i only say bits of this to friends in RL as unless you ve been there you can t possibly understand.....

Evening

applesaretheonlyfruit congratulations again . I'm so jealous that your having twins .

sarahlou8 I also miscarried on the 17th November . Good luck, I've got my fingers crossed for you.

boodleboot stop enjoying the BD. Your not supposed to enjoy it .

Well I'm so convinced that I'm pregnant that I took a sneeky pregnancy test this morning (DH doesn't know) - BFN. Maybe I tested too early or maybe I'm going to look very silly if and when AF decides to make an appearance.

So today's symptoms include:

  • feeling queezy this morning;
  • extremely dizzy this morning (I was dizzy whilst lying in bed) and most of the day;
  • heavy/gassy feeling in the abdomen;
  • peeing more than usual;
  • nasal stuffyness/runny nose.

I'm buggered if I know anymore. What I do know is that I have 4 more pregnancy tests left in the knicker drawer (don't know why the feck I have one as I don't wear them) and I'm not intending to use another one until Christmas Day.

Considering I have PCOS and this is the first month after having a miscarriage, I think I'm asking a bit much. But the queezyness and sickness this morning really had me convinced.

Right thats it I'm going to completely ignore every little symptom. If I get pregnant, I get pregnant. If I don't get pregnant, I'll have fertility treatment then try adoption and failing that I'll just buy one from Africa - isn't that how babies are made these days?

Oh forgot to tell you about the cervical mucus - it's all over the place. Each day it decides to do a different thing. According to the cervical mucus I've been fertile half of this month.

I give up.

I want a baby...now.

Sarahlou8 · 19/12/2009 18:48

Hi,

I just wanted to say Hi to viv, I was on the 'due May 2010' thread with you and I lost my baby on 17th November at 15 weeks.

I am tentatively dipping into this thread, I hope nobody minds. I don't really know where I belong anymore.

We started trying again straight away but AF arrived this morning which has made me feel a bitbut hopefully we will have a brighter new year.

Looking forward to getting to know you all xx

LeeWT · 19/12/2009 16:39

Oh what sad and amazing news all at one time..

viv you poor sweetheart my heart breaks for you that must have been so awful and your wedding so soon after. Well done for getting through and we are all here to hold your hand..

apples oh my god!!!!!!!! That's incredible I've
got severe twin envy I want some!! ;-) oh can't wait to hear all about every step so delighted I gasped "oh apples" and dh seemed bit confused like he thought I'd finally lost it!

Xxxxx

Meita · 19/12/2009 16:32

apples aww, you must be feeling a bit shocked! But I'm so glad it's good news over all!

Fingers crossed that it stays that way!

Ohhh with the senior person saying "I'll take over now" I would probably have fainted or something. You must have been so relieved - amidst the shock of it - when she said TWINS. Go you! :0

chamoiscreased · 19/12/2009 15:52

apples
Fantastic news!

applesaretheonlyfruit · 19/12/2009 14:13

And I'm 41 in two weeks..

applesaretheonlyfruit · 19/12/2009 14:09

Hi everyone,

I am currently in Ashford, snowed in and waiting to get the eurotunnel back to France. Decided to wait it out at the hotel as I don't fancy a 12 hour wait on the motorway.

Contrats Meita!!! We finally got there - and hope beans stay. I'm sorry that others are having such bad luck. I have been there and it is horrible.

My news. Went to Ashford Hospital for a scan on Thursday at 7w3d. Not feeling THAT pregnant, just a bit queasy and enormous boobs. To start with I was very negative, just waiting to get it over with so I could KNOW it was not going to happen. The radiographer asked if her trainee could do the scan and I said, why not, as it couldn't make any difference. Anyway, she found a baby, with a heartbeat. This is good. The growth measurements gave a 7w3d size, which was good. Fast heartbeat, which I was worried about because my last mmc baby had a heartbeat, but too slow.

Then, all of sudden, the radiographer taps her trainee on the shoulder and says, I'll take over now. I immediately thought, she has found a problem with the sac or something else, and was waiting for the bad news. A few long minutes later she turns to me and says, "it's okay, I was just checking the other baby, and that baby is fine too".

So, I have TWINS, with heartbeats, the right size and currently fine. But obviously it could still go horribly wrong.

Did I mention I was having TWINS??

Meita · 19/12/2009 11:23

Oh viv so very sad to hear that. That is so heartbreaking. I wish there was something I could do.

So many "graduates" from this thread have returned. Lee and Boodle, MrsRigby, Louise, and now you Viv. It makes me want to weep.

Wishing you all the best of luck. I hope you all get pregnant quickly and that it turns out to be a healthy pregnancy next time. Big hugs all round.

boodleboot · 19/12/2009 10:37

hello my lovelies....viv mega gutted you are back but lovely to see you. Lets get you pregnant again shall we...

i am still feeling a bit TBH but the christmassy feelings are rooting a little bit and i am getting excited for the kids and that makes me excited for my little family so am not going to stress out in the run up about what i don't have..I AM SO BLESSED..Re me and DH and our delightful BD {have only gone and started bloody enjoying it....sorry mrsR} going for the every other day approach means less onus on me to check for all my symptoms and get wound up....have not bought internet cheapies and do NOOOOOTTTT intend to, neaerly lost my mind last month....
