Hardly the most original title but I didn't want to loose anyone (well that's my excuse for the lack of originality!)

Happy new year my dears.

Lots to catch up on. Have been screaming at the screen MrsR - we will have to set up a Pregnancy Test Anonymous addicts club! Did you see Gavin and Stacey the other day with her shoe box of pregnancy tests? All part of the national conspiracy for everyone on TV to get pregnant at the moment.

Sorry to hear about the AFs where they've arrived. And a prize for lousy timing to tigger and christmas day!

But what fantastic news from Cake - so pleased for you! I'm just hoping it was the cake and fine wine that did the trick -in which case I should be up the duff immediately given the amount I have consumed recently! Hope you're doing well my dear and congratulations.

Samantha - like you, I had given this ttc business no thought at all til after my m/c. Are you using a basal body thermometer and how are you taking your temperature? I used an ear one originally and it was useless.

I got quite low before New Year as my acupuncturist suggested I should get my FSH levels tested as she's worried they might be too high, indicating a problem with ovarian reserves/quality. I've got High readings very early and prolonged on my CBFM for the last two cycles. I went off googling and of course convinced myself that it must be game over. It can be quite depressing ttc at 41. Also managed a leak in the attic which has come through the ceiling on New Year's eve and found two lumps on my beloved dog (waiting for results next week). So was glad when New Year's eve was out of the way - far too poignant for me at the moment. Don't want to reflect!

Anyway, sorry for the rant. Two more days left to stuff my face with all the left over Christmas goodies and wine before the diet begins on Monday . My aim is to lose a stone before the end of January!

OH.......MY.......GGGOOOOOODDDD.

four separate internet cheapies....four seperate pink lines, all faint, but all visible from reading distance within the time limit......

you don't really think i am actually preggo do you? AF is not even due until wed....

i cannot even dare to believe that this may end up in a baby.....

VivClicquot · 02/01/2010 16:12

Hiya lovelies

Happy New Year from me. Had a lovely time away with my best friends in the Lakes, but sadly it looks like AF is about to get me. Am gutted, as technically this is the first time I've actively TTC and it NOT worked, having fell pg at the first attempt with the two babies I lost.

Such a strange feeling as I was convinced we'd done everything right again, but DP is being super positive and says this month will be our month... Guess we'll see, although am already thinking about buying ovulation predictors for this month.

Anyway, hope you're all well and much love and luck to all. xx

hi all.. am getting quite worried about Mrs R as she is MIA.. give us a sign!!

boodle in response to your question, we are not actively trying but ahem we are in the same situation as last month in that we werent supposed to be trying but there have been two drunken rumbles in the jungle which are in and around my ovulation time so I'm back on the 2ww again haha. it's terrible tho as delighted as i'd be to get preg, i seriously need to lose weight or i'll be a blimp. have gone from size 16 to 18 over the last 6 months. far too much comfort eating

samantha dont think i welcomed you yet.. i dont have any answers about your questions re ovulation and temps etc, meita would be your woman.. but best of luck

xxx

Happy New Year Everyone !

I am feeling much more laid back today. My temperature has finally gone up which reassured me that I did indeed ovulate during the past couple of days which coincided with ewcm. I've pretty much done all that I can now so it's just a waiting game. I quite fancied a glass of wine but feel guilty. I don't understand the effects of wine on conception enough to take the risk. Any advice will be gratefully received... SB

CakeandFineWine · 31/12/2009 13:30

Hello all
Just popping in to say a happy new year and many sticky beans for 2010

barrenbrook · 31/12/2009 11:16

Oh and SamanthaB123 I wouldn't worry about feeling naive about the whole cycles thing, I didn't (and still don't) have much of a clue about it all! I find the whole thing so damn confusing! You are not alone and most certainly not arrogant!!!

Sometimes I wish I didn't know about my cycles at all! I managed to fall pg after having my coil removed and having sex about 4 or 5 times in two months (our shifts clashed!), seriously, how does that happen!!!

tetleytea · 31/12/2009 11:12

Hi everyone, just dropping in very quickly to say Happy New Year (and decade!) to you all, and wishing us all lots of beautiful babies

tt x

barrenbrook · 31/12/2009 11:10

Hi Girls,

My goodness, there has been a HUGE flurry of activity on here, I have some serious catching up to do! Again! Welcome to all the newbies, sorry you are here but as lots of the ladies have probably already said you've found the right place to find your way through the tough bits and share it all out with the rest of us.

Apples & Cake A big whoop whoop from me!!! and wowser Apples, Twins! Super exciting! Congrats, I am super jealous happy for you both!!!

How is everyone else? MrsR how you doing, hope you are a little less stressed? Meita Are you and the bean well?

I?ve fallen off the radar a little recently, been having a bit of a wobble as this time last year I was pg and it was mid Jan I m/c so because of the time of year it?s all coming back to me. Not that I like to dwell on it as it?s all done and dusted but sometimes the frustration gets to you, as you all know! I?ve not used my CBFM thingy this month, we?ve just been having sex every two to three days instead.

Right I'm off to try and catch up with everyone's news.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, here?s to a babytastic 2010 for all of us!!!

SamanthaB123 · 31/12/2009 10:39

The more I find out about conception, the more of a miracle it is that I have two children. I knew nothing at all prior to this experience. Suddenly I find myself at 36 wondering how on earth I have lived so long without properly understanding. I may, ahem, have looked like a bit of an eejit with some of my previous posts. I have been reacting entirely based on the way that my body feels, (which I thought was perfectly sufficient), however, I now realise that most of my posts may well go against recognised medical science. Ahem and again.

It seems that you cannot ovulate if your temperature does not rise. All that ewcm over the last few days may mean my temperature is about to rise because I have recently ovulated, or it may just mean that I have dodgy abundant mucas. Lovely.

Last month when I conceived, I spied some abundant ewcm, had a good stab at bd'ing and bingo! I was probably quite lucky... In my favour however, this month, while utterly ignorant of what was going on, there has been much bd'ing, some of it probably at a pertinent time. If I do conceive luck or God (depending on your beliefs) will certainly have played a part.

I rather wish I hadn't started reading so much. I had happily convinced myself that I wasn't obsessed with having a baby, but, perhaps in hindsight, that is not strictly true. I do seem to spend an awful lot of time mulling the whole thing over. This has caused me to research and read which takes us back to the start of this paragraph..!

I began this process with the rather naive assumption that because we wanted to have a baby, we would. I get 10/10 for optimism (which I still believe plays a fine role in conceiving) but probably 10/10 for arrogance too (sorry if I offended anyone along the way) . I think that I will be approaching the whole thing with a little more humility in the future. If nothing else I have learned a little about conception and a lot about myself.

Happy New Year girls, 2010 is going to be our year !

Hi ALL

HOHOHOJOLLSTER On todays list my entry should cd2,cycle 25!!!!AF got me yesterday....

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

SamanthaB123 · 31/12/2009 07:56

Morning ,

I feel a bit better today...I think that I have done pretty much all I could to be pg this month ! If it was meant to be then that will be just fab, but if not, well so be it. I do feel optimistic that I have conceived but I know that I could convince myself of practically anything given time!

A couple of questions though. I have been taking my temp in my mouth in the mornings, but it never particularly changes - it is usually 36.2 and sometimes 36.3. I'm pretty sure that I have ovulated this month, and this has happened in the past, so is it possible that my temperature doesn't particularly rise at ovulation?

I was also wondering, last month when I conceived I definately felt 'different' in my lower abdomen. It's difficult to describe but I felt bloated and my tummy was not painful, but tender. I had discomfort really low down towards my pelvis almost straight away on either side that I could only vaguely describe as what I remember 'stretching' pains to be in my first pregnancy 12 year ago. I have all of these feelings again this month - but don't usually have them in my regular cycle. Anyone else experience anything similar? Obviously the temptation is to read much to much into this, which I am trying not to do .

Good luck to everyone who is testing, I do want to say, thank you...getting through mc has been so much easier because of you all. I needed to know that it wasn't just me and that it was my fault in any way. You are all fab!

Happy New Year! SB

hohohojollster · 31/12/2009 06:03

have been lurking a lot... and welling up, heart sighing, laughing and nodding vigorously (sp?) at appropriate points.

Have MASSIVE twin envy, apples. Reading about your scan made me well up and some.

Worried about MrsR. Hope you are ok.

sam TOTALLY know what you mean, and can empathise with how you are feeling.

tigger, no YANBU. IME many struggle with how to deal with "difficult" news... partic if they are lucky enough not to have suffered any significant losses themselves. It's like when you HAVE had a significant grief, you gain entry to a club that means you understand more quickly and have more confidence to trust your reactions and responses to others when it happens to them IYSWIM.

SO sad to read about the recurrent issues others have had.

Am not very confident this cycle... not enough activity at the right time. Plan to tackle TTC with gusto (whoever she is) in 2010. BUT am becoming resigned to the fact that at nearly 42 DS may be my only cherub. And what a joy he has brought to me, I must always remember that.

Wishing you all very happy new years... MN has been very important to me in my grief since my MMC in August (even if I haven't always felt able to post, reading has been a lifeline) . Thank you all. x

Thanks for the affirmation. I think it was probably a combination of her not knowing what to say and the usual self-absorption a lot of people get when pg.

I guess I just feel like I give and she takes and at the moment I want someone who will support me in return as I feel fragile so much of the time.

Louise thanks a lot for your message I really hope this year is the one for you (and everyone else of course).

CakeandFineWine · 30/12/2009 21:53

Still lurking

tigger bloody well tell her how you feel, she probably didn't know how to handle it so I guess you have to make the 1st step! At least its easier in an email!?
And no YANBU

louisesh · 30/12/2009 21:51

Hi all.TIGGER your friend sounds very selfish think as you get older you come to realise who your true friends are...I ve lost a few along the way[particularly as you experience MCs , i ve found] i ve just come to the end of my tether with selfish people and cut them dead out of my life as think its hard enough without people like that draining you.....I personally would e mail back informing her i d told her all this already and how you feel[but thats just me!]

Take care x

AF got me today...knew it would and have no feelings either way as [like i ve said earlier] no point me getting pg with the chromosonal problem and the fact that i 'll probably miscarry again.

Happy new year VIV fingers crossed.I too think thank god its the end of 2009 but given up hoping for a better next year as hoped for the same over the last 3 years and unfortunately for me and my family they ve all been crap for a variety of reasons.

Arh SAM hugs to you .It can take ages to recover from a MC..My first physically took 6 weeks then i went off sick from work for 3 months leading up to my due date and had counselling as couldn t cope at that stage. The 2nd MC i was only off for a week and hadn t even looked at the due date [although thats not happened yet] so..... you take as much time a s you want/need and be good to yourself.

Oh for the LIST i m on cycle 25!!!!

Well, did my 2 day week at work, shame every week isn t like that!!!! Off to parents tomorrow in Worcestershire for much food, alcohol and exchanging of xmas presents YEH......

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL X

tigger15 · 30/12/2009 18:55

Thanks for the message boodle.

Just to liven the thread up a bit how about an AIBU?

The day after my ERPC sitting at home feeling sorry for myself I called a good friend of mine who I don't get to speak to often because she lives in another country and the time difference means the evenings don't work out for us. She has an abusive ex-dh with whom she had children and a new very nice dh with whom she was expecting another child. We had kept in close contact through most of her troubles and she would often turn to me for advice and I'd do what I could in terms of finding lawyers and just being a general sounding board.

Anyway the conversation that day started with me telling her my sister had got engaged we talked about that as she knew her well and then she asked me why I sounded down so I told her. Her response was oh. Then she started talking about how difficult it was being pg. As you can imagine this really went down well so I ended the call and decided to just wait and see.

So 6 months later I receive an email from her saying she didn't know my sister got engaged (hello?) and was there anything big happening in my life.

So how do I respond?

  1. Ignore the message.
  2. Inform her that I did tell her my sister got engaged and leave it at that.
3.???

I just don't know what to do. It's partly I feel like all I am is a portable agony aunt with no feelings of my own as opposed to a friend (which I always thought was a 2 way avenue). Also I really didn't tell many people about my mc (outside of my family 3 others and 1 was a close friend who confronted me with a huge bump and has just had the baby today) so I guess it's hurt feelings as in I trusted someone enough to reveal something personal and they can't even remember it.

What do you all think?
