Lovely lovely gynie specialist managed to whip out my Mirena (went astray, have posted before) without needing a GA (or three month wait for one) so am now officially TTC!

This (hopefully) will be my second DC, and am planning to use Persona to get to know my cycle a bit.

Is there a board I can join? Feel a bit weird about just jumping on to those great long boards where everyone knows each other...

I'm not testing or wymptom spotting
Hoping that this time my cycle is back on track and we're going to be managing a bit of fun under the duvet more regularly this coming month.
I had this odd thing in my head after ds was born that I would need to fall pregnant in October to have a July baby to spread out the birthdays to quarterly so maybe that was an omen.

I would hate to be pregnant over the summer again I was with dd (6 next week) and that summer was the hottest on record for a gazillion years or something and it was awful I spent most of it lying on my bed in bra and knickers with 2 fans blowing over me.
Luxury or what??

tiffanys · 23/09/2009 17:48

Hi all

A big welcome to those that are new!

I too am syptom spotting, I cant help it.... today I was really tired at work almost to dropping of, so was going to mail the dh at work as I was so excited, then it came to me that I was up twice in the night with my poorly dd... funny what ttc can do to you!

Ticklepeanut - I got my cheapies from wilkos... I am going to definatley not try and refrain from testing until af is at least a few days late so I may not need to buy loads of tests.

Is anyone else testing soon or having any sypmtoms?

good luck to all

lucybrad · 23/09/2009 17:24

last time i had may babies, which was perfect as i had the whole summer to enjoy them, this time though, the kids will be off over the summer, so i think i would rather it was after that, then i will only have one to look after during the day. lat time took 7 months though, so i am going to let god decide!

sparechange · 23/09/2009 17:05

Thank you tickledpeanut
I feel a bit like the kid that joins halfway through the term and has to ask teacher lots of stupid questions...
Well my our original plan was to start with gusto in the new year, but I let slip to DH that part of my reasoning for waiting is not wanting a summer baby (and in my head, it really is that easy to plan exactly when this will happen) but he looked a bit being a july baby himself, so we're just going to give it our best shot (or his, anyway) and see what happens

lucybrad · 23/09/2009 16:24

well, its day two for me after mirena removal. Havent actually started trying yet as way too busy. Have furiously bought a million ovulation tests in preparation, as i dont want to have too wait too long. Sorry to hear about those that had to get off the april bus, brings it home how fragile this all is. Hopefully we will all be super fertile this month hehe.

Ticklepeanut · 23/09/2009 16:09

Heh-heh! Yeah, we're going with the old-fashioned method first, and if that fails we'll start looking into the more technologically advanced approaches.

TTC# is the which baby you're trying to conceive - so your first would be TTC#1, second TTC#2, and so on.

CD is 'cycle day' - ie which day you're currently on, where day 1 of your cycle is the first day of your period.

UCL is 'usual cycle length' - so UCL28 for example, or UCL?? seems to be used if you're not sure or have irregular cycles.

DPO means 'days past ovulation' I think, but then you're getting into taking it really seriously territory!

That's where I'm up to, so if anyone knows any more, feel free to add?

sparechange · 23/09/2009 15:39

When I think I've worked out that AF is a period, but the cylcle numbers/stats are still a total mystery!
I think our first plan of action is just to try the 'lots of sex' method
If we don't get anywhere with that after a few months, I should probably draw myself one of these charts I keep reading about

Ticklepeanut · 23/09/2009 15:34

Hi sparechange It's very confusing isn't it! What acronyms are you stuck on? Someone on here's bound to know?

sparechange · 23/09/2009 15:29

hello
Can I also join in?
I'm also new to all of this (and haven't worked out all the acronyms) but after furiously reading all the boards for a few months, DH and I are taking the plunge and I've been off the pill for 3 weeks

Ticklepeanut · 23/09/2009 14:56

Join the club mcfee - I'm currently hallucinating slight nausea to pass the time until I can prove that I am in fact mental. My reading on MN suggests that a lot of people get no symptoms at all, or not until quite a few weeks in at least, so a lack of them isn't necessarily a bad sign.

Bummer about early AF HKT, hopefully the walks and carrots (?!) will give you a boost for next month.

stillfrazzled · 23/09/2009 12:47

I feel like AF's due any minute - but what do I know, have had about three periods in last ten years (Mirena, Mirena, pregnancy, Mirena...)?

Wish it'd damn well hurry, had forgotten about the bloaty feeling. Gaaah.

OP posts:
HKT · 23/09/2009 12:42

AF arrived two days early (not that I'm counting or anything )
Quite disappointed, as DH and I had really gone for it this month!
This month is going to be the month of walks (keeping fit sort)and carrots (should really explain this one - a friend reckons that carrots are a fertility superfood, not sure where she got it from, but concieved #3 after about 6/7 months - the succesful month I ate so many carrots I turned orange

I will now be looking out for orange ladies - I know what you've been up to!!!

mcfee · 23/09/2009 12:23

About a week until I can reliably test and I am currently imagining symptoms!! No wonder my boobs are sore with all the prodding I'm doing trying to establish if they are swollen / tender!! Have probably bruised them in process!!

Ticklepeanut · 23/09/2009 09:54

Welcome new people

I need to start tracking my cycle too stillfrazzled - I have never paid attention before, which is why I'm so hazy on my timings for this first month of TTC! I've been following the mucus method Yorkshire, (TMI coming up) this seems to be relatively easy - after your period you should have a few days with no mucus, then white sticky mucus warns you that your fertile time is coming up, and when it changes to clearer, thinner, slippery mucus you are fertile, as this type of mucus allows the sperm to reach the egg. My OH and I made several attempts during my fertile time this month , so I'll let you know in a week or so whether we were successful!

tiffanys where did you get your 99p test? My paypal account has been up the spout since a cash machine ate my card, so I'm dependent on Boots/Superdrug unless there's a cheaper High St alternative?

Fingers crossed for those of us testing in a week or so, and good luck to everyone else

tiffanys · 22/09/2009 20:47

Hi all

welcome, Confused and lucy

well swimming didnt go to plan so now im sat in on the sofa on mn

lucybrad · 22/09/2009 19:34

can i join you? TTC number three after 5yr old twin boys. Took a while to conceive them, (7 months) so not sure what to expect! Only had coil out today....

confuseddoiordonti · 22/09/2009 19:11

Hi, can i join too?
This is my first ever month of TTC and we have done all the right things, so now it's just waiting (and I HATE waiting!)
The first day of my cycle was the 1st Sept so I can't really test before Friday (have 27-28 day cycle.)

stillfrazzled · 22/09/2009 18:08

I think I should get AF some time in the next week - actually hoping it does come soon (for the first and last time!) as then I'll know when to start timing my cycle...

tiffanys · 22/09/2009 17:49

Hi all

Ticklepeanut - My af is due in just over a week, I have no signs at all other than a bit bloated which is usual before af arrives, so i guess we will be testing around the same time, lets hope that this is our lucky month!

Westyorkshiregirl - I have just got some cheapie test for £0.99 which i thought was ok, I saw the test in boots and superdrug and then went and got some cheapies!

How is everyone else getting on. Im of swimming tonight - part of my new get fit plan

WestYorkshireGirl · 22/09/2009 17:15

Hello All

Well I worked out my window of opportunity for this month but it's a big vague with having to account between 16 and 10 days and with only semi-regular cycles. Was a bit gutted that am away with work for some of it - DH says he will know what I get up to on work trips if I get pg this month!!!. Am going to try and look for signs of ovulation this month i.e. mucus- any one tried that? Oh and I bought 2 pg tests off Ebay for 1p (just in case!) - have you seen the price of the ones on Boots?!!!!

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 22/09/2009 13:59

Well nothing here either.
My cycle still a bit all over the place just now bleeding on and off and started again Sunday night although this one if I ov'd when I was supposed to should be a normal period so fingers crossed.
Had this problem before, gor tablets to stop cycle completely for a month and that kick started it again for me hoping I don't have to do that again because it just puts everything off for another month.

Ticklepeanut · 22/09/2009 10:47

Nothing to report here - approx 1 week to go to AF and not a symptom in sight. Sigh. Bought two more tests today in readiness though Anyone else due to test soonish?

Size 14 and proud - can't believe that fuss they're making on the news today about a few so-called 'larger' women (since when was size 12 large?) being picked to sashay down the catwalk. I thought they looked pretty good myself. First time I've looked at a fashion model and been able to think that I could wear what she's modelling without the garment needing some serious restructuring first!

Healthy eating's the way to go, but no harm in the occasional choccy bar too

nymphadora · 22/09/2009 07:28

Oh don't mention waistlines, found my last wedding pics when I was moving and was size 10& pregnant& gorgeous now getting married again at size 16 & weight still going on despite illness & diet :-(

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 21/09/2009 20:11

Well I am bound to fall pregnant now, I just volunteeed for the parent council at school. last time I joined a commitee I had ds 9 months later haha.

I have been thinking about losing a bit of weight and eating a bit healthier as well could do with it that's for sure.
Years ago very pre dc's my friend and I used to go to the gym work our guts out and as soon as we were outside have a fag and a packet of crisps those were the days though when I still had a waitsline and didn't actually have to wrok that hard at maintaining it.

tiffanys · 21/09/2009 19:22

Hi all

mcfee and wasplady sorry to hear that your no longer on the april bus!

lets hope this thread is lucky for all

How is everyone today? I am still finding it hard to think about anything but ttc so I have put a plan in action to try and lose a bit of weight not through diet but just healthy eating and get a bit fitter so hopefully this will give me something else to think about! although im sure it wont be long before im hitting the chocolate supllies ..

Hope everyone is ok!

Ticklepeanut.... when is your af due any signs at all? try not to be disappointed as you may just have tested to early.

bye for now
