hey clure am so sorry to hear your news from the cons i think your wise to do some serious thinking and talking. Fingers crossed in the next few months you'll fall pg before ivf. Back for another scan tomorrow and then to work- what a great day that will be! Hope everyone is ok. Welcome littlemissmischief. x x x

Clure · 14/09/2009 22:32

welcome littlemissmischief. I too am trying to conceive number 2. Clomid worked for me last time, have yet to have success this time round.

paddington, glad there's something positive from your consultant.

stac, you never know 5 days over is a good sign!

well ladies I'm reeling from my consultant appointment. Basically he said my FSH and LH are very high and there is strong possibility I could be heading for premature meno. He said that our best chances of conceiving are ivf with donor eggs. Am totally gutted. DH and i need to have serious think through this. Meawhile we go through more blood tests, semen analysis, day 21 progesterone etc continue with clomid and see consultant in 3 months, then he'll refer to ivf clinic if we decide to go with it. Sorry long post!

babydust to us all xxxxxxxx

paddington21 · 14/09/2009 09:18

hi all
been to the cons i have a cyst on my right ovary but now something has appeared on my left ovary which could be a follicle. it looks like i have not ovulated yet so while there is still hope im not so sure. having yet another scan on wed to see whats going on.

clure- i hope your visit to the cons was a good one.

stac- if not pg this month 6 weeks off the clomid. i then presume to start all over again!

go back to work later in the wk and my shifts are shockingly long- hmmm job hunting i think needs to commence.

hope everyone has a good day xxx

Hi Attila,
Thanks for your reply, it's true I don't know if I'm really getting the best treatment. I've got another apointemnt in 2 weeks (at the end of this cycle) so I will ask about getting ultrasound done and also about getting my husband checked.

My doctor is the gynaecologist at my family planning clinic. I'm living in Hong Kong so this is the equivalent of the NHS here. He's trained in the UK and usually the healthcare here is pretty similar to back home. Obviously I'm new to all this fertility clinic business so I don't really know what to expect.

I got tested for LH, FSH and prolactin. I'm not sure what day of the cycle it was, in any case I don't have any cycle so it's difficult to know.

I've been asked to moniter my temperature to see if it rises indicating ovulation, so far it hasn't. It does fluctuate though but I'm not sure if this is because I travel a lot and don't always sleep in my own bed and wake up at the same time every day. I'll see if my AF finally arrives at the end of this month.

Claire - thanks for your support, good luck this week! I will insist on getting some more tests done to find out exactly what's wrong with me. I do agree that testing is the key.

I am still taking the metformin and have had surprisingly few side effects just heartburn and I am now up to 1500mg no signs of af which should techinically come on the 8th, havent tested though think I am too scared to see another bfn (soz to hear about your clure)

How is everyone? clairebear I would defo go for it a girl on another thread did and she is now pregnant with twins. paddington anything is worth a try I was going to buy the self hypnotist dvds that is apparantly meant to help you relax about ttc.

Hello, hello, just popping on to see how you're all doing? Wasn't it absolutely GORGEOUS today?!

paddington21 · 12/09/2009 21:18

hey clure, thanks for your reply
i definitely think i will look into reflexology. had accupuncture i only had one session it didnt hurt and i had a good follicle- that could be a coinscience though. i felt highly emotional and really freaked out afterwards though- cant explain it.

am trying to be positive. i just watched that i predicted the lottery man show- i am ashamed my curiousity got the better of me but as far as i know he didnt actually say how he did it really. however being positive and self belief was a big part of it apparently so i'll give it a go

Clure · 12/09/2009 20:20

paddington, I've heard that reflexology is good. I have a friend of a friend who I got talking to who practised reflexology and she is an advocate treating fertility issues alongside conventional medicine. I'm going to look into it. Also recommended is acupuncture. Stay positive, fingers crossed for you.

xx

paddington21 · 12/09/2009 19:52

Fairygodmother1 · 12/09/2009 12:15

*hip not him sorry!

Fairygodmother1 · 12/09/2009 12:09

Hi ya,

Nothing much going on here - think I may have ovulated a few days ago as I had a pain by my left him that went away after about 20 mins. So we BDed a few times just in case. Just have to wait a few weeks to see if we are successful this month & have a romantic evening planning to do a bit more practising!

Hope everyone is ok, have a good weekend!

xx

Clure · 12/09/2009 11:38

hi all

CD29 and another BFN for me
Got my consultant appointment on monday, hoping to get some more answers!
Have a good weekend all
xx

KiwiKat · 11/09/2009 22:48

Hello everyone. Thanks heavens it's the weekend - although it's cd10 and we're supposed to be bding tonight and every night for a week, and dh is snoring on the couch. NOT very helpful!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 11/09/2009 07:30

peju

Normally cycles of more than 35 days are anovulatory.

Long cycles like this are pretty much par for the course with PCOS. I also used to get dark evap lines on pg tests.

I don't think you are expecting unfortunately , I think what you've seen are evaporation lines.

Please visit your GP asap and get a referral to a gynae at a subfertility unit. PCOS is not a condition that should be messed around with by GPs.

Clure · 10/09/2009 19:27

peju, oh bless you. What a predicament. As a first step I would try a clearblue digital test which says either pregnant or not pregnant. If it is a negative and you are anxious (I know how you are feeling - I think I got over a CD100 a few cycles back!!) then visit your GP
I wish you luck x

peju25 · 10/09/2009 19:13

Hi all

Claire i say go for it i think most of us would!

im getting myself all confused at moment as some of you will know from thread 2 im just a tad late!! i am now on cd71 no sign of af at all - my boobs feel big and heavy and feel bloated had the occasional bout of feeling bit faint.

although yes i do have PCOS my longest cycle was 48 days so im a bit past that now. Do any of you know if this is usual to have a random cycle?? i had bad period pain 4 weeks ago but no af.

anyway i did a test on sunday which was bfn as expected although i convinced myself of a line albeit extremelly faint - just did another test now and i can see a line which is faint again but dont have to hold it to the light at odd angles to see it this time! although it did come up at about 12 mins.

My question is do i wait another wk and do another test and see if im imagining things and it just a dark evap (can u get dark evap line??) line or go docs?? i dont really want to take any drugs to start af.

sorry for the long ramble but u are the only peeps can talk to about this!

paddington21 · 10/09/2009 14:07

hi all, well had a scan done and she couldnt decide if i had a follicle or a cyst on the ultrasound but it wasnt there a week ago and now its quite big she said she didnt want to be too overly optismistic but do a lot of bedding.
have to go back next week.
feeling poorly today have hand foot and mouth its quite mild but really hurts on my feet, feel sicky and my throat is sore. not a happy bunny.

sorry for massive moan.

Re your comments:-

"I've just found this thread and hope you don't mind me joining in"

Welcome to this thread!!

"I'm on my first month of clomid after going for 1 year without ovulating after I came off the pill. It's good to read all your stories and experiences, nice to know I'm not the only one going through this".

Its actually more common than people realise. BTW there is no real evidence to suggest that the pill is responsible for failure to ovulate, what it can do is mask symptoms of any underlying hormonal problem.

"I haven't had any scans

Not good, you should have internal scans done on a regular basis

"but I have had blood tests that all came out normal so my lack of ovulation is a bit of a mystery".

What blood tests were done and on what days. Sometimes the results of such tests can look okay simply because they have not been interpreted correctly".

"Since starting the clomid I've been told to check my temperature every morning".

No point whatsoever in doing this, who told you this?.

"So far it seems to fluctuate quite a lot even though I take it correctly, so not sure if it's going to be a good guide to whether I'm ovulating".

With PCOS a temp chart can look like the Rocky Mountains.

"It seems like a lot of you have PCOS but are there any of you with unexplained anovulation?"

I think its unexplained partly because they haven't investigated you properly to date!. You have no diagnosis either and you've been given clomid to take. Giving you clomid as well without a diagnosis is not good either (not everyone with ovulation problems is suitable to take clomid). You should be monitored closely whilst on it with both blood tests and internal ultrasounds, no monitoring is a no-no.

You will need to be persistant in order to get answers. Some subfertility units are far better than others. I would seriously be looking into finding another unit to work with if they carry on in such a cavalier fashion.

BTW has your man been tested?. This should happen as a matter of course as well.

Clure · 09/09/2009 20:47

hi all
