carebear

I would be looking into getting a second opinion on the blocked tube; think it was appalling actually that your cons said, "it was one of those things" and did not suggest anything further.

Fairygodmother1 · 17/01/2010 10:32

Hi Carebear Creme egg flavour is perfect. What do you mean by tips? I have pcos. I only drink fruit tea. Need to buy nettle & a grapefruit one as I remember on here someone said nettle before ovulation & grapefruit makes your lining more sticky!I had ovulated.
I agree with Clure about a second opinion on the tubes. Maybe some sort of laser treatment can be offered. I have PCOS & my tubes are fine so it needs investigating as to why one is blocked.
The blood tests I had done were day 21 which told the cons whether or not I was ovulating.

Clure I've managed to stay away from google so far - bed is a good place cos I don't have wireless internet (yet!). Good that you are prepared cos I went thinking I was going to be offered IUI (cos the GP told me there was a note on my file) but the cons actually asked us what we think should happen next. I was only armed with metformin & thinking IUI was next. That stumbled us a bit.

Welcome zayja. Sorry to hear your news. I'm also a teacher beginning to worry how I'm going to get away with IVF timetables in my school. Thank god i have a fantastic class & everyone will be happy to cover them.

Well I'm in a much better mood today. The weather seems to have picked up slightly (well we have sunshine & it's above freezing now lol).

Fridgefreezer arrived at 9.30 this morning so yay to that too!

Hi Ladies,
I've peeked in here, occasionally lurking, anticipating it may be time soon for more drastic measures. Hope it is Ok if I join?

I'm ttc#1,had a mmc last April and dh and I both 34. Recent tests came back mostly ok-dh's morphology a bit poor. Anyway, doctor is recommending Clomid and IUI this month. Not sure I'll have time for IUI since I'm a teacher and ov time falls during first week of second semester, don't think I can miss. DH thinks we should just try clomid for the first month anyway.

It's been helpful to read all of your experiences to know what to expect. Thank you! Anyway, sorry to hijack! Hoping to be part of a support system

Clure · 16/01/2010 23:24

hi

carebear - If your monthly tests are on day 21 and measure progesterone they will (hopefully) determine if you have ovulated - not always accurate if your cycles are irregular (like mine!!) other than that they may test FSH LH and oestrogen but they generally don;t do this every month, mine have tended to be when I see the consultant. I can't offer any knowledge about tests for blocked tubes but I would definately not settle for a consultant implying "one of those things" you maybe need to push for further investigations. Well done on giving up caffeine and alcohol!

oh dear, I have succumbed to the dreaded google and my mind is now totally boggled with ivf and donor egg info. I have tied myself up in knots. Thinking I should have a bit of knowledge before monday -not sure if it was very clever. oh well .....

CareBear1 · 16/01/2010 22:27

Hi all, I've really appreciated reading all your stories, wow some of you have really been through the mill. I have so much respect that you are still going, and on here supporting others!

I've been told to go in monthly for blood tests whilst on clomid, but I won't see a specialist for it its just a general drop in blood test clinic - does anyone know if they'll be able to tell if I ovluate from those tests? Or is it just to check that hormone levels don't go too high?

now done 2 months without caffeine and alcohol - seems better, my skin seems a bit clearer (get quite bad acne) and bleeding mid month has calmed down. Does anyone else have with pcos have tips they feel have really worked?

I've had that hypos scan with the dye and it was justs like a smear, though pinched a bit on the side where i am blocked. The cons i saw made it sound like there wasn't anything they could do to find out why it was blocked other than 'just one of those thing's - anyhone know of any other tests that i could ask for to find out why its blocked?

Is creme egg flavoured fairy dust too early?? good luck to all. x

Fairygodmother1 · 16/01/2010 17:32

Beck Dh is already chomping at the bit in prep of this month. lol. I've had a good rest this afternoon & feel a little more on top of things. Lots of fruit tea and marshmallows in bed! Now waiting for my veggies tonight!

Clure I do have - I use lavender a lot when I'm not feeling too great. I'll get them out later!
My thoughts will be with you on Monday! Big hugs (())

hi all

what a wet and miserable day. Poor DH went out for one of his mammouth bike rides and got a soaking. He came back even with 2 pairs cycling gloves on he couldn;t feel his hands and I had to pull his gloves off (that's teach him to go off on a super long bike ride!!) Then we had a flood in the kitchen, one of the pipes under sink came away just as the washing machine was emptying..........all over floor. An hour clean up job. Still the under sink area is now tidy and spotles!

fairy - a good bit of pampering is a good idea. Do you have any aromatherapy oils? i'd recommend lavender and chamomile. Will have a think about some veggie stuff for you

popsy - oooh the image of summer evenings is a fab one!

well I have just spent some time getting all my cycle dates/clomid/period info down plus list of queries ready for consultant on monday. NOT looking forward to it one bit.

wishing you all tonnes of after eight flavoured babydust xx

beckylou85 · 16/01/2010 13:05

Hi all, fairy yes we do have the same cycle, thats good we can talk through your last cycle of clomid. I hope this one works for you before you have IVF
I've already pre-warned DP that we got to have plenty of sex this month, his reaction was 'ok darling, we will' with a big on his face.
Good luck all ttc xxx

Fairygodmother1 · 16/01/2010 11:59

fairy we must be posting simultaneously!

popsy1 · 16/01/2010 11:29

Fairy so sorry your having a tough time. It can't have helped feeling so poorly as well. My friend had IVF at the end of last year and she is the complete picture of calmness and she found it stressful. She had reduced her hours at work earlier in the year, she was really poorly the year before and lost her baby at 21wks and decided she wanted to be at home more, she was really glad that she did it. It gave her some time to cope with all appointmnets and injections at a convenient time. What i am trying to say is you are only human hun, and you have alot on your plate. Take some you time. Maybe take jojo's lead and book into a spa for the day with a good friend and relax! It wont take all the stress away but it'll give you something to look forward to. In the mean time get a trashy chick flick, comfort food at its best and enjoy some you time.

Take care hun xx

Fairygodmother1 · 16/01/2010 11:28

Yummymummy I had HYCOSY too - just felt like having a smear done & a bit squdgy in my undies after! I think we all react differntly to things. I'm slowly getting over my blood test phobia. I used to faint. Then I used to manage with a fizzy drink & a bar of choc, then it was just a bar of choc & yesterday I just got on with it (even looked at the vials yesterday but never the needle!).

I think we can only give you our experieneces, you take it on board & know we are with you in thoughts.

Pops thats cheered me up thinking Spring then summer!!!!

popsy1 · 16/01/2010 11:20

Morning all. Well the snow has gone and the rain has taken over Roll on spring & summer full of BBQ's, lazy evos in the garden and picnics
Research didnt tell me anything! Lots of different articles saying ovulation occurs after 15, 20 and 30 (blood results) so i have no idea . CD32 today. Nothing i can do this month apart from wait for Af to arrive and start my 7th month!!
yummymummy i had a hycosy back in May. I just took painkillers and bleed after for about a week or so! I felt a little woosy after but nothing during. But i have a little phhobia of hospitals so unsure if it was the procedure or my phobia!! I'm also an Angel mum so there's plenty of support and understanding ladies on here.
Very jealous of you day jojo. It sounds like just what i need!!

Anyone doing anything nice this weekend?
I haven't got any plans, still trying to shake this cold DH woke up and said how sore his throat was so i think i've past it to him

Hi girlies,

Feel like I'm hitting rock bottom - maybe it's because I've had some tiume to think about everything & realised how much stress I've been under. It's as though the surveyors have come in to assess the bridge supports that is me & realised that I'm beginning to buckle!

Took clomid last night. Also gonna enjoy BDing for the fun of it this month. The IVF will now give us a chance o relax now we're going down that road.

Sent DH (in the pouring rain) to get some fresh veg from greengrocers. V healthy eating coming this way. Clure I may need to get ideas for veg as I normally do roasted Mediterranean veg or your usual sunday roast type stuff but feel inspired to be way more daring. I've missed being in the kitchen!

Hope everyone else is having a better day

yummymummy

Yeah I had the HSG (tubal x-ray) done and its in the house here somewhere. It is a useful test to have done as it can give information not easily accessible by other methods. For instance deformities INSIDE the tube can only be seen on the tubal x-ray. It should not be painful providing the dye is injected through the catheter both slowly and carefully. I was given the results of the test straight away and was told that both my tubes were patent (open).

I was given a couple of painkillers beforehand. I did not feel pain (and I have endometriosis as well, it did not detect that though) but it all felt very strange. Would suggest you wear some sanitary protection afterwards as that dye (a teaspoonful of it is used) does come out!.

anything else you want to know about it just ask.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 16/01/2010 08:10

Hi Fairy

Would like to wish you the very best of luck with the forthcoming IVF. BTW you may want to read "The IVF Revolution" written by Prof Robert Winston as I seem to recall it is about women's experiences of this treatment.

yummymummy2010 · 15/01/2010 23:28

Hi all,
it was internal scanning i had...they saw the ovaries but jus couldnt get clear enuf pic of follicles.
When i hav another stone lost ill book another scan. but as i said im not that much overweight in the first place! Hopefully wel get lucky in the next 3months and there will be no need for that scan! has anyone success stories with clomid?

stac14 · 15/01/2010 21:57

Hey popsy sometimes I think I am showing other times I think its just the fat thats there, I am in the limbo part where the pregnancy symptoms have calmed down and your waiting for the movement. I am feeling good now the sickness is going but appetite is rotten. How you?

jobob sounds like you had a fab day hun, would love to do that with a couple of my friends.

fairy my friend says she feels rude calling the baby it, so we kind of refer to the baby as the bump lol Still trying to agree names with DP

hi everyone
gosh, hasn't it got popular on here all of a sudden! hello everyone new, i can't keep up!

yummy I'm so sorry for your loss, to hear of someone losing a baby due to lack of care whilst in labour is just shocking. I know it happens, but still . I'm an angel mum too, there is a couple of us on here. We lost our baby at 38+4 due to a knot in the cord, he just went quiet one day. Since then I've had problems conceiving, apart from a miscarriage at 8 weeks in the summer. My cons has put me straight on 100mg (after checking my age ). I am at least 3 stone overweight and they saw my follicles good and proper, and we've got quite cr*ppy equipment!

fairy hope you're feeling a bit better, I was having a conversation only the other day with someone who was quite scathing about the attitude of some in the medical profession and she thought that some of them were abit 'out there' and out of touch! I'd go with clomid again, as you've got it.

stac hope you're both feeling well

clure bathroom all done?

I've had a lovely day care of a good friend, whose daughter I collected from school for about 4 months. We went to a hotel spa, had a swim, steam, sauna, hydrotherapy jacuzzi and then full body massage (heated massage bed), followed by healthy lunch. Bliss.

babydust by the skipful as there is so many of us! Perhaps the new thread could be 'clomid part 4 and friends of clomid'? lol

Wow its been so busy on here, it took me a while to catch up.
Hello to all those i haven't met before its great on here, everyone is so lovely.

I'm gunna try and catch up now.
fairy glad you've taken some 'me' time, its such a stressful time and you have to take care of yourself.
yummymummy Sending hugs {{{}}}} your way. Hope you have had lots of support. Re. scans i've always had internal scans, wasn't offered anything else! Could you ask for one? They r a little uncomfortable but i've had so many now, its just the norm!!
clure DH and i made a list to take at last appointment in December. It was really useful. She was a Registrar and was crap and had to keep going to find out answers to our questions!!! Enjoy DD bday party
stac glad your feeling well, are you showing yet?
We are still feeling a little confused bout my blood results so i'm going to commit a huge MN sin. I'm going to GOOGLE it ladies!!!

Extra strong Baby dust to all.

Fairygodmother1 · 15/01/2010 21:29

clure I was told by cons that DH HAD to be at all the apps with me! Yep it has taken it's toll, also needing to keep it quiet is also bloody hard. Told most people that have asked yesterday & today that we're having further investigations. Want to let little people know as possible.

My niece was 5 in Sept & I can't believe how big she is. I saw her come into the world & she hasn't stopped amazing me yet.

Stac I'm all for knowing. Want the name & bits sorted before arrival. Also, being a close family, my niece & nephew will want to be involved so having a name for them to use for the baby just really helps. My bro used the nickname for his baby all the way through - I'm still calling him 'it' at times cos the nickname was stupid! lol.

yummymummy I am a couple of stones overweight but they done an internal scan to get a good view of the ovaries, to be honest I wasnt offered an external one lol

peju try not to worry about the scan it is a fab thing, dont get me wrong I felt so sick before mine lol I am on the July due date thread too, all welcome if you fancy it let me know and I will post the link

fairy I am good thanks, my 20 week scan is 1st March, we are going to find out, dont care what we're having just want to be prepared. Glad your doing the clomid hun

clure defo a good idea to get a list going, I found being on here gave me loads of ideas. It also annoyed my cons lol

Hey to everyone else xx

OP posts:
Clure · 15/01/2010 20:41

peju - good to hear from you, yes ginger biscuits and dry toast i think help (didn't suffer the morning sickness myself but sympathise)

yummymummy - I had HSG first time round trying to conceive. It wasn't the most pleasant experience. For me it was a bit painful afterwards like a bad period but other people i know who have had it have all had different experiences some better than others. Like you say, its something that needs to be done.

Attila - yes thanks DH is coming with me to this appointment. I always find you are bombarded with information/stats/blah-de-blah and by the time you leave the consultants office you've forgotten half of what was said (well I am bit of a sieve brain!}

Fairy - glad you are taking it easy. When you said about getting upset in Heads office and feeling like death warmed up I just knew everything had taken its toll.

Just been putting the finishing plans ready for my DD's 5th birthday party. Can't believe she'll be 5, doesn;t seem long since she was a tiny long streak of a babe!

well its CD13 for me both a clomid free round but still BDing just in case

babydust x

Fairygodmother1 · 15/01/2010 19:19

Thanks peju Does sound like me. DH has 'normal' so thats a little plus for us! We intend to take it easy. Haven't realised how much everything is taking it's toll until getting sent home yesterday & today really feeling it. I've told work I'll be off mon & tue as I do think I need to think about me for a bit!

I heard ginger cake was good too for sickness!

Hi all
Not been on for a bit so been doing some catch up!!

Welcome to all new lot and hi to everyone

Fairy - i was told that although clomid worked or making me ovulate it didnt work well enough and we were referred for ivf (i got PCOS and dp got low sperm count) guess we relaxed into a state of wait for all that to start and i ended up pg so who knows it could be the trend for u too!! Defo go for clomid - i would!

I have my scan on the 26th bit nervous. still got sickness but found ginger biscuits do help!! craving sweet stuff which is not good all the weight i lost is gonna go back on!!

Hope everyone ok baby dust to you all
