HELP, HELP - JUST DONE A PG TEST AND NOT SURE WHAT TO THINK!!!

If anyone is still up and has any advice, please help!
I've just done a pg test (First Response) and there are def two lines, but the one on the left is MUCH lighter than the one on the right, which is the one shown on the indicator as the 'not pg' line. I've thrown the instructions away, and can't remember if the faint line was there on tests I've done in the past. I really want to be pg, so maybe it's wishful thinking that I'm hoping the one line light, one dark means that I am!

hi just wanted to really see how you were doing now thats all x

tigerbear · 10/09/2009 16:01

Countrybump - that is amazing, only 3 weeks to go. It's nice to hear happy stories! Good luck!

Loyi71 - thanks for your kind message, and sorry to hear you have had 2 mc's, that is awful. I'm not feeling too bad today, just trying to get on with things. Yes, this was my first pg, and I was sooo excited when I saw the positive tests (all 6 of them!). Couldn't really believe it when they said the test was neg at the hospital.

Ilovemydogandmrobama (I think you win prize for best MN name!) and Can'tthinkoffunnyname - thanks for posting. What's odd is that I don't think they actually use super sensitive tests at the EPU, quite the opposite. I did a CB digi when I got home last night which still said positive (but gone down to 1-2 weeks, when it was 2-3 weeks on Monday), and did a crappy Superdrug own brand today, which came up positive too. I'm not hopeful that I actually still am pg though - I just think the hormone is still there, but decreasing. Shows that the EPU tests must be pretty rubbish though, if even a Superdrug test can detect a small amount of the hormone and they can't...

Hi Tigerbear, only three weeks to go for me now. I really hope things work out for you soon. Trying to have a healthy baby is such an emotional rollercoaster, but it seems to me that once you get on it you just can't get off! xx

loyi71 · 09/09/2009 22:29

I am so sorry and i truly mean it and understand, i have had 2 miscarriages one at 12 weeks and one at 5 weeks and altho the last was very early, it doesn't matter. You have this excitement and plans and when it goes wrong its still devastating. Right now talk to your dh and i know this sounds lame but eventually you will get pregnant and will be fine, looking back now i seem to have had miscarriages after having stopped the pill.

Is this your first pregnancy, i am here whenever you need to chat x x

tigerbear · 09/09/2009 21:37

Thanks for posting everyone.
Countrybump - glad it's working out for you now.
How long to go?

Hi Tigerbear,

Just wanted to say sorry you have gone through this, and that exactly the same thing happened to me. I did a test in the middle of a cycle as I 'felt' pregnant. It was a faint positive, so I did a CB digital, and it said 1 - 2 weeks pregnant. I sort of knew it couldn't be true, but got my hopes up anyway! Went to the doc and she said to wait for my period, and if it didn't arrive to test again. Well, a week later I did another CB digital, and it still read 1-2 weeks pregnant, so my hormone levels weren't going up. Eventually my period arrived, and then I finally got a negative test. Was very frustrating as I'd been trying for a long time and had already had miscarriages. But, good news is that I did get pregnant a couple of months later, and so far that's going well. So don't be too despondent, good luck with things going better next time. xx

CantThinkofFunnyName · 09/09/2009 19:10

Oh dear, so sorry tigerbear. You must be feeling dreadful - to get a positive result when you are desperate to conceive and then find this out is like a bereavement. Don't feel a fraud. But do take some time to grieve and perhaps pamper yourself a little.

ilovemydogandmrobama · 09/09/2009 19:07

So so sorry. Perhaps they use hyper sensitive tests in the EPU?

piprabbit · 09/09/2009 19:03

Oh - and I meant to say that as well as emotional recovery, your body has been taking a bit of a hormonal battering recently which will also take time settle and adjust - which will also make you feel down.

tigerbear · 09/09/2009 19:01

Thanks Piprabbit.

I'm glad your DH is on his way, it's best to share this as a couple I think.
No wonder you are in shock, I think it's human nature to hope for the best until there is undeniable proof. Doesn't make it any easier though....

Take care of yourself.

tigerbear · 09/09/2009 18:51

Thanks piprabbit - I just wrote on one of the mc threads exactly the same thing, that I feel a bit of a fraud for feeling so low, considering it was so early on. It is is hard NOT to get excited and hopeful when you get that first positive test isn't it? (and the rest - I've done 6 over the last week, all positive), so it was such as shock when the doctor said the test was neg today. I'm alone right now, but I've spoken to DH and he said he would be home in 30 mins or so (that was at just before 6 though!).

piprabbit · 09/09/2009 18:45

Oh tigerbear - I'm so sorry that you've had this bad news, it's such a rollercoaster in the first few weeks of a pregnancy, especially when you have worries for days and then find that the worst is confirmed .

Be kind to yourself over the next little while, it will take time to adjust and recover. I somehow felt that my very early m/cs (chemical pregnancies, whatever you choose to call them) didn't really count and that I shouldn't need to grieve. With hindsight I did need time to grieve for the little hopes and dreams that had started to bubble in my mind, despite my best attempts to suppress them.

Have you got someone with you at the moment?

tigerbear · 09/09/2009 17:16

Hello, well I've just been to the EPAU, and the test they did came up negative.
At home now crying. I did another digi test, which still says pg, but now gone down to 1-2 weeks, instead of 2-3 weeks which it said on Monday. I guess the hormone levels are going down quickly...

Very sad.

Thanks Tigerbear.

Don't worry about boring me, I'm happy to read all your updates. Knowing how worrying this all is I'm happy to be here.

Have you managed to speak to the EPU yet? You may find that they arrange for you to have an early scan (at about 6 or 7 weeks) to check all is progressing well.

tigerbear · 09/09/2009 00:09

Hello piprabbit (love your name!), CantThinkofFunnyName, loyi71 and littleoneMum- thank you all of your amazing support and kind words. Reading about posters who have had similar experiences really helps, and the whole camraderie on MN has been such a massive support- I am so grateful MN / you lot exist! However littleoneMum, I'm scared I'm boring people to death with all of my updates on various threads! I think I posted on about 4 when it first happened, as well as starting this one! Sorry to anyone who is reading my very similar posts on each thread - I just wanted to keep everyone informed who had taken the time to ask how I was doing. It really means a lot - thank you!

hi there, i was so happy to hear your news, i had a feeling you would be fine. I had period pains and little niggles through all my babies eldest 14 youngest 1, and was ok you do worry over every little pain or twinge. Just enjoy it its such an amazing thing to be pregnant, and take it easy x

LittleOneMum · 08/09/2009 14:58

Oh, Tiger, I know that I've already said congrats on the other thread but CONGRATS! Can you afford a private scan at all? I think it might be worth booking one in if you can. I think that they will be able to tell from 6 weeks so maybe book one in for a couple of weeks from now?

CantThinkofFunnyName · 08/09/2009 14:31

Tigerbear - nothing to add really, but just wanted to post to say so v happy for you that the pg is staying and still saying positive! you know, it really is v common to have bleeds at the beginning and sometimes all the way through. I certainly had period pain cramps (really bad) with all 3 of my pregnancies all at the time I was due for my period. Re the false positive, a couple of years back, I fainted on the tube and instantly was worried sick because the only time I ever faint is when I'm pg! I came home, did a pg test and sure enough it said positive. A couple of days later I took myself off to a clinic as it really wasn't on the cards at the time (!) and they scanned me and said absolutely NOT pg, that afternoon I "miscarried/had late pg". So it can happen, but thankfully in your case, this looks like a keeper!

piprabbit · 08/09/2009 14:22

Hi Tigerbear, I've been watching your thread as I had a similar experience.

Glad the test is giving you good cause to be positive.

Fingers crossed from me too!

tigerbear · 08/09/2009 13:59

I did the test (actually did it last night, as couldn't wait until today!) and it says 2-3 weeks pg!!!
I am anxious though, as the spotting is still there. Have tried to make an appointment at the EPU to see what's going on, but they aren't answering the phone. Fingers crossed all will be ok!

Hi everyone, thanks for all of your supportive comments.
The bleeding has started again (very lightly), so feeling anxious. Stupidly went and did another test (wasn't supposed to do it until tomorrow, when it will be a week since I did the first test) - it says Positive, but I think all will become clearer when I do the Clearblue Digital test tomorrow - if it says 2-3 weeks instead of 1-2 weeks, then I'll have some hope.
Laneyjay - thanks for your happy story - posts like that are what is giving me a small amount of hope that things will work out for me too.

I'll post tomorrow once the test is done. (it will be my 6th test!!!!!!).

Hi tigerbear, just wanted to stay I did hpt on the sunday which said I was 1 week pregnant, started bleeding on the tuesday and bled for two weeks, red to brown and sometimes quite heavily. Still went on to have a normal pregnancy and a healthy baby girl. If you want to know whats happening your doctor can run blood tests measuring Hcg two days apart, it should roughly double at this point in pregnancy if all is going well. Fingers crossed.x

loyi71 · 07/09/2009 09:52

hi just wanted to let you know still thinking bout you and really hoping you stay pregnant. let us know when done test, am still keeping fingers crossed x

tigerbear · 05/09/2009 01:36

Hi Angifi - no, am holding off on anymore tests until at least next Tuesday, when it will have been a week since the first one. Thankfully the bleeding and cramps have stopped - had some bleeding this morning, but has gone now.
