extremesitting fb can hurt me too. My peers seem to be oh-so-successful - e.g., photo-editor for a NYC magazine, penthouse in Manhattan. Or how about the one who has money pissing out of her ears - who stayed at my house a few months ago on her way out of the UK with a SUITCASE full of cash (hiding it from the taxman) - people living in beautiful big houses - 3 postgrad degrees - beautiful children - wonderful families. It makes me want to eat worm soup.

extremesitting · 28/08/2009 10:26

Update: Have had a word with self (as well as some practically chewable strong coffee) and I am now fine. I don't know what all the fuss was about. Damn hormones

OOOh yes!!.... about the longest cycle I mean.... that way if you are knocked up you can be one of those casual pregnant types... "Oh yah... didn't even notice I was late...I SO haven't even been trying that hard..."

Oh to be one of those casual types!!!

vag Don't POAS! (I feel like being controversial) (In fact, while I'm at it, ML should be reduced to five days, six if you've had a c-section; croissants should be cut in half and spread with marmite; babies should wear dry-clean only clothes...)It'll only be depressing if it's a negative. No sticks for you until you're passed your longest cycle date. I HAVE SPOKEN.

VeryAngryGusset · 28/08/2009 09:58

ps I tend to be the one to make contact (irregularly) with parent-friends and wfiw they seem to be really grateful to hear from a non-parent about Life Outside. Unless they're great actors.

Was out with v dear childless friend (VDCF) the other evening and met her best friend and her goddaughter (9mth baby) - VDCF was telling us about her work and half way through she tailed off having realised we were watching baby. I caught her face and it was awful. We were interested (she has the most amazing, fascinating job) but babies are eye-magnets (like tellies in pubs). I felt really guilty cos I know she's really sensitive about this sort of thing. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it won't be deliberate and your friends will be trying to find a new balance in their lives too.

idealcamel · 28/08/2009 09:56

extreme Facecrack is the devil's invention as you well know.

I understand what you mean about feeling out of sync with the world - I'm doing it the other way round, in that all my friends are resisting babies, so I can't whine to any of them about how annoying this TTC lark is. That's why we're all hanging out here - to impress others with our wit and general fabulousness while occasionally having a meltdown.

Have a Miss Piggy style karate chop from me. Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-yah!

VeryAngryGusset · 28/08/2009 09:51

Oh extreme Wish I had some wise words for yuo. But I don't. I do know how you feel though - I still have a couple of childless friends who I'm clinging to like a life-raft.

"I don't even know WHAT CD I am ON, but I'm pretty sure I have a week to go til R2D2, so christ knows why I am so emotional..." [loser emoticon]

I'm feeling flat today (potentially hangover from early wine but I think the peppermint tea should have seen to that).

Made the fatal error of signing into Facebum first thing this morning. I don't know why I go there. I have discussed this with some friends lately. Facebum just makes me angry and jealous. It always appears that everyone you know looks better than you, has "crazy fun" all the time, have babies that are always clean, quiet and smiling; and worst of all - sometimes they meet up without you being there and take pictures to taunt you with.

I know I've bleated before about all friends having kids. I'm not even bothered about whether I get up-diffed or not this month. In fact I'm considering a break until after Christmas (have had the best sex this month that we have had in about 18 months, thanks to the fact we are not "trying" this month - sorry if TMI).

My problem is... the horrible sense of being completely out of sync with everyone I have loved. I knew that when the children started coming that life would change, but I really hoped we would all change together. I speak to them all so much less than I did. Partly this is because they are busy with the new love of their lives, partly its because I have become a hermit. But mostly its because they all know we are TTC since before they even started trying, so its all getting a bit awkward now. As a result, its easier not speak to me at all. Weirdly that suits me, because if I do speak to them they might ask or worse still, they might NOT ask, instead putting their charming infants on the phone to gurgle at me. Punch in the Nads. (Christ, I've started weeping).

I don't even know hat CD I am one, but I'm pretty sure I have a week to go til R2D2, so christ knows why I am so emotional...

Argh - you are all evil pixies! my cycles range from 33-49 days so technically Tide isn't actually due yet. So nyer - back in your cages, evil ones!

longwee · 28/08/2009 08:54

By CD35 you have to POAS. It's the law.

extremesitting · 28/08/2009 08:45

POAS POAS!!!! Well done for trying not to, but lets be honest, the minute you mention CD's and sticks you know what the palace will chant!!!

VeryAngryGusset · 28/08/2009 08:16

Blimey! - I missed a helluva piss up last night! How's everyone's heads?

I have a StickPixie on my shoulder - it's CD35, my boobs feel like swollen udders but/and otherwise I have all the signs of an impending Tide. Little Pixie keeps telling me to poas poas poas but I Will Not. I fall for this every month - I get to this stage, weaken, poas, then within hours the Tide starts. Shut up, stupid pixie! Shut up!

Ponymum · 27/08/2009 22:22

skatergrrrl I love your name.

scorpette Ooo, yes, Charlie Brooker! !! You have reminded me. He must be my secret crush of shame I suppose. Writes scathing, overly-analytical, self-loathing columns in the Guardian. Is permanently aghast at everything. Suffers from emetophobia.

SkaterGrrrrl · 27/08/2009 21:52

Evening gin hounds,

IT'S NEARLY THE LONG WEEKEND!

What are you all up to?

Ski are you in another fight?! Loving your work on the maternity leave thread.

Welcome to the gin palace, pony.

CurlyCasper · 27/08/2009 21:41

Me and SFF love that you typed that scorp. Filthy girl

Yes, I think I might just heart Frankie - all the more appealing with me being a Jock. Just seriously PMSL at the last round on MtW.

Charlie Brooker - think memory needs a jog on who he is. Off to google it... But will probably read the pithy reply. Although I think I might have seen it

triggerhappybaby · 27/08/2009 21:37

Did anyone see Shooting Stars last night? OMG straight back to my yoof and it hasn't changed a bit!

I'm reading a book on Roads (to return to threads-gone-by). The history of roads in point of fact. I love quirky non-fiction, it's intensely pleasureable.

Sorry you've had a load of old mither ski. I have a packet of fizzy snakes if you'd like one to celebrate my noternity?

Scorpette · 27/08/2009 21:36

Curly do you heart Frankie Boyle too? Him and Charlie Brooker are my 'ugly but fuggin' funny' crushes

Scorpette · 27/08/2009 21:35

I posted a pithy rely to that freakbitch under a false name (shameful, I know). All I will say is that I love oor Biffa...

Ski has done my head in with her 'OPK positive could be due to updiff' shabazzle. There wasn't much FFJ and could have just been delayed spunkdrop, ie unchurned cunt butter. Can't believe I just typed that.

CurlyCasper · 27/08/2009 21:17

little fuckers. wish I had cider. Instead I have Mock the Week

idealcamel · 27/08/2009 21:11

Feeling v odd ce soir, which can prob be attributed to three white wines, a pint of cider and the realisation that the pissed-children on the Tube have picked up their gcse results and are officially allowed to have sex or die for their country. And had I been stoopid about condoms, I am easily old enough to be their mother. Strange.

CurlyCasper · 27/08/2009 20:52

FFS, MN has made the ML thread a Discussion of the Day. Do you think they like the fights?

skihorse · 27/08/2009 20:50

Ponymum I finally remembered where I'd encountered her before. She was talking about how it is so important not to "let yourself go" and how a man can't possibly love you if you put on weight/don't wear full war-paint/wear trousers/say loo type stuff! It's like she's posting from the 1950s!
