Hi all,

Am new here but have been following most of the threads for a couple of months now. It is great for all of you to belong to such a good network that has created a close bond.

Am 34.5 yrs diagnosed PCOS almost 20 years ago.Am told mine is mild and have normal weight (65kg) for my height. Naturally, been having very irregular periods that can go up to 3-4 mths. Been TTC for the past 3 years and unfortunately had 2 miscarriages.Been on almost all kinds of fertility treatments (Clomid, Metafolmin, Injectables) that regulates my AF but do not conceive. Mind you both times, I conceived naturally while on medical break. Currently, am not on any treatment, as we are considering IVF as our next step. Not gotten AF for almost 4 mths now.

Well ladies, I just need to hear from any other PCOSers' experiences to a successful pregnancy. Will really appreciate your info that might assist me and other women. Thankx a bunch!

Runtus - How have you been? How is the pg treating you? How far are you now? Will be great to hear from you.
I have been back for a while now and been failing to log on Mumsnet. Had good one month break from work and everything else. I had a superb time - we traveled a bit, pampered and good rest. I feel much better now and am also pleased that I did get my 1st AF after the m/c. At least it came back in 5 weeks - i was really worried of PCOS reappearing soon. Now, I have resumed back to meformin.

Chunkymunky - good luck with metformin. It did wonders with my circles, regulated and got pg after 3 month. However miscarried. Having regular cicles while on metformin is a great improvement for me.Let us know how it goes.

Can i ask, on which CD where you starting to take the Clomid? I have ready some take CD 2-6 and some CD 5-9. Which are the best days to produce best eqq quality for a woman of above 30 years? Will appreciate much information. Thank ladies!

Hi everyone, I hope everyone on this thread is doing ok. Its been a while since there were any posts. I just wanted to update my situation. I was prescribed metformin which i stopped taking due to dreadful sickness but i have lost 1/12 stone since October and have just had my first AF since April so i hope this will regulate my cycle somewhat. I still have 2/12 stone to go to reach my target. Goodluck to everyone.

Hijack - Is Keysha around?

Just wanted to see how you are doing honey??

MeerkatsUnite · 07/11/2005 07:43

Roobedoo,

PCOS is definately a PITA if you are trying to conceive. Have been where you are and know (like many others on here) how disheartening the whole thing can get. The thing is as well that an underlying hormonal imbalance (often in PCOS patients the LH level compared to that of FSH is awry) is there to start with.

If repeated tests have shown a negative result then I would unfortunately go by this. When are you next able to see this unit?. At least you are being monitored on a regular basis.

What do they intend to do if this does not work, have they discussed any other treatment options with you?. I would ask them about the possibility of you having ovarian diathermy surgery as this does have success with some PCOS patients. This is a keyhole surgery op whereby the surgeon punctures the cystic follicles with an electrical laser or needle. This can have the effect of evening out the hormonal imbalance (commonly associated with PCOS) thus allowing ovulation to spontaneously occur. It is not though a cure for PCOS but it may help with regards to conception.

There is no one therapy or treatment that will actually eradicate PCOS (the causes of same are not completely and fully understood) but it can be controlled. If you can stay within the correct weight range for your height this will help as well.

With best wishes

Hello ladies. I don't think I've posted on this thread before but I have PCOS and having been ttc for 13 months. I am on clomid and being monitored so had injection to release follicles 3 weeks ago tomorrow and now have a question - my AF is almost a week late now, I have v sore nipples (sorry if tmi) and am getting really dizzy to the point of having to sit down, but tests are saying negative. Can PCOS cause a neg result due to skewed hormones?

runtus · 04/11/2005 16:51

Take it easy love and you stay in bed as long as you need......you are right, you need some 'you' time.

I'm fine, all going as it should but really need a drink on Friday nights like this I can tell you. Been a horrid day and a big glass of wine would help no end. Yo u have one for me, along with a big piece if cake and whatever you want on the TV - you deserve it

Keysha · 04/11/2005 09:00

Thankx everyone for your wishes. We really appreciate and am taking each day as it comes. Right now, am so confused of not knowing what am meant to do so that it doesn't happen again. If I might need total bedrest throughout, am so willing to do anything to make it right. We are praying for God's direction.

Runtus, I will be fine luv. This one hit me badly but am coming to terms. I know one day everything will go well and i shall have a healthy pg. Am taking a couple of weeks off work. I need a bit of rest and focus on me. I know I will be fine. How is your pg treating you? Make sure you have enough rest and don't stress yourself with anything. Just enjoy every stage. Lots of wishes for you!

Lots of hugs to you all and thankx again for your wishes!

Hi,

Hope you are all well. Just an update on me. I was 8 wks pregnant until yesterday when I went for my second scan to find that i had been miscarrying slowly. I underwent a D& C procedure last nite. I found out i was pregnant a month ago and started to experience light bleeding and cramps at 5 wks. Was put on 2 weeks bedrest plus progesterone suppliments.

Am very devastated as this is my 3rd m/c in the 4 years of TTC no. 1. This is very hard for me. I had so much faith in this pg. I leave everything to God!

I'm not doing too badly at the moment, have the odd day where I feel terrible but on thw whole I tink I have got off pretty lightly so far. Was 9 weeks yesterday so already feels like I'm flying through it........can't wait for my next scan though when we should be able to see a little person rather than a prawn shaped thing!

Keysha · 19/10/2005 15:41

I can not be annoyed with you . I'm praying that I will be right behind you and we shall have healthy pgs together. How wonderful will that be after sharing similar experiences? We should only trust!

Otherwise, how is the pg treating you? What pregnancy supplements are you taking now? Make sure you enjoy every day of it. Just relax, pamper yourself and enjoy. You deserve it girl.

For sure, I will keep you posted.
