Anyone out there who's recently MCd and back to TTC without waiting?

Hey everyone. I have a DS (18 months) and had first MC last week at only 5 and a half weeks. Have wondered whether to wait for AF but after obsessively reading most threads on the subject in MN - have decided to take the plunge and TTC just as soon as I can ... Anyone in a similar boat wanting to join this thread and spread the baby-dust? xxxx PS Am terrified it won't happen for months / it will happen and I'll be a compulsive knicker-checker

Good evening!

cheepz I'm starting to feel a bit jealous that AF came for you but not for me... (not seriously, just pointing out how strange things must be when I start being desperate about hoping for AF...)
I hope you are ok with it. At the moment I think it would just be a relief for me. But for you, you did have at least some hope that it had all worked out in that ever-mysterious "cycle?" so although you were expecting AF it might still be a bit of a disappointment anyway...? In any case, take care of yourself!

tfls Hmmm has temp surge happened yet? FF says that some people have unclear CM and you can only really be sure of ovulation after having observed temp surge. But if it is in the least unclear, they recommend continuing the BD on days with good CM. They also say that in cycles where you ovulate later than normal, and in anovulatory cycles, you might have several bouts of "good" CM. But only when it is accompanied by the temp surge it's ovulation-related. As you can't know ahead of time, FF says you just need to BD every time your CM is good until the temp surge is well and truly established.
I know what you mean about it being sad with the scheduling and all. I feel quite rebellious about that, sometimes resulting in a "no I WON't do it now just because it's probably a very fertile day" attitude, which is obviously not very productive...

monkey I hope things are going well!

thefatladyscreams · 24/08/2009 17:14

Hi everyone

Was very busy last week as coming up to ovulate . Clearblue monitor has had me on high for ages (but first cycle I've used it and heard that's normal) - but still waiting for it to say Peak. Had little bit of EWCM but it's gone back to creamy (sorry TMI) so not sure what's happening and not had temp surge yet. Meanwhile DH and I were so knackered after gardening yesterday (see what happens when the sun shines!) that it was a real struggle last night. We just looked at each other and laughed! God it's sad when you have to muster the energy because the schedule demands .

monkey you're not a wuss. I hope you remember to tease us when we get a BFP and start to panic! Good news re the lump.

meita - if BFPs appear when you're on holiday, you might find certain of us arranging your travel plans . Congrats to your DP. All the more excuse for a little more champagne. Enjoy it while you can! Look forward to having you (and hopefully your ever AWOL AF) back Thursday.

Cheepz · 24/08/2009 09:32

ok so AF arrived this morning so am back into normal cycle from now. its felt like a break not knowing whats going on but this month the serious business of ttc starts in earnest!

meita hope she arrives for you too soon hon seems like its been ages for you and you have had to be really patient

tfls have not seen much of you on this or other thread lately - hoping you are ok

work time now

Cheepz · 23/08/2009 23:37

hello ladies.

No AF for me yet - CD29 but 1st cycle post mc and i am not sure we hit our dates so to speak as not sure when our dates were!

had lovely weekend in the sun and work will be quiet next week with the bank holiday and lots of people away on hols

tis late so off to bed shortly

few more pages to browse

Meita · 23/08/2009 22:43

Hello ladies!

Away for a day or two, and what happens? Another BFP! Congratulations monkey that's fab news! I so hope this little bean is a sticky bean!
And I'm glad the news is still good for you, too, helpet! apples your situation indeed sounds a bit like mine. I was so sure AF was due, overdue, but still tested negative. Was confused and it took quite some nudging for me to realise that I had probably ovulated lots later than I had thought (if at all).
Are you temping, or registering your fertility signs at all? First cycle post MC can be strange, and temps and signs are not very reliable, but they MIGHT provide an indication for a POSSIBLE explanation...

I've been having a good time. Very intense, but good. DP submitted his PhD thesis 4 days ago! That's good news because it means we are going on holiday soon :-) (Also, I'm quite proud of him.)
Have been doing lots of babysitting for SIL's 4-months-old, and enjoying it. I just get a bit sad sometimes when I'm in a "down" moment and think "will I ever have my own?" but then in the "up" moments it's more like - "yeah, it's such hard work, but all the same, knowing what it's like with a LO I'm now looking forward to having my own all the more!"

Yesterday was the wedding we were invited to. Fantastic event - I was very impressed. It was just like a fairytale wedding.

Someone here (sorry, I forgot who!), recently, told how AF caught up to her at a wedding ceremony. Well yesterday morning, my temp went way down, and I think AF might be about due, so I was thinking AF was going to get me during the wedding, too. She must like weddings. However, she didn't turn up. (Maybe Switzerland was too far for her to bother).
Today again I got a low temp - quite often AF gets me in the evening of the second day of low temps. But hasn't arrived yet. So I'm thinking it will be tomorrow AM. I'm quite relaxed about it - I just want AF to arrive so that my cycle goes back to normal and we can get back to the business of TTC!
Although, to be honest, I had lots of champagne at the wedding, trying to invoke a sort of adapted "sod's law" - if I had lots to drink and then found out I was actually, against all hope, pregnant, I would be soooo worried that the alcohol had caused something bad to happen...
I'm now on CD43, and have become quite practiced at being patient - that doesn't mean I like it one little bit!

I'm sorry for this "ego-post"; I've read all your messages but don't have time to reply to everyone and thought I'd like to let you know how I'm doing. I'll be back home next Thursday, by then I should hopefully have had AF visit!

BestLaidPlans · 22/08/2009 21:30

Monkey Good to hear about the lump. The ladies at the Rosie were absolutely lovely. They squeezed me in as soon as they could after a less than pleasant Addenbrookes A&E experience and were very sweet. They rang up a couple of weeks after to find out how I was and if I'd had a negative test and if there was anything they could do. They cancelled all my appointments for me and I also got a lovely phone call from the Addenbrookes genetics lady (I'm a cystic fibrosis carrier, luckily turns out DH is not) to say how sorry she was. My only complaint would be having to walk past lots of happy pregnant women to get to Daphne Ward (the EPU bit) but I think you may be able to avoid that if you use the Addenbrookes entrance rather than the Rosie if that makes sense.

monkeymayhem · 22/08/2009 19:29

you ladies are so wonderful, i've actually got tears running down my face having just read all your supportive posts, what a wuss! i've had a good day but i'm just waiting for something to go wrong, dreading going to the loo in case i've started bleeding etc. i know i just need to relax! bought four more tests and i'm going to restrict myself to testing once a week so that should get me to 10 weeks (still got two in drawer) hopefully and maybe by then i'll have chilled a bit!

TFLS thanks for that link, very useful. The nearest one to me is the Rosie where i could actually book in. Last time i got referred straight to Bedford at my request but if Rosie's walk-in may be better? will have proper look later.

apples i really hope AF arrives soon for you so you know where you're at with everything, must be soo frustrating for you.

BLP by the time i got to GP on friday the lump had gone and the tenderness had gone too so i'm assuming it was just a bruise or something from DD using me as climbing frame. was still going to check with GP but chickened out if it happens again i will go back i promise! you're not prying by the way and it's nice to have people caring what's going on!

helpet thanks for the positive thoughts too.

well it looks as though dd hasa actually gone straight to sleep - see miracles do happen! so i am now going to watch X Factor!!

enjoy your sundays ladies!

BestLaidPlans · 22/08/2009 17:47

Hello all, booked an appointment to give blood on Tuesday after a very long conversation with one of the advisors who tried to tell me I couldn't donate til January because you have to leave it a week for every week you were pregnant. Took ages to convince him that 11 weeks from the first week in June was this week, so next Tuesday would be fine. Turns out he was only counting two weeks per month. He was very apologetic and sweet though and told me about his sister's many miscarriages which I think was meant to make me feel better!

tfls Thanks for the link, useful for reassurance if away from home too (when I have something to be reassured about, obviously!)

monkey Echo what everyone says about the stats. If the odds of winning the lottery were 75% I'd do it a lot more often! (Disclaimer: I will obviously be ignoring my own sane sensible advice should I ever get another BFP, in favour of doom, gloom, knicker-checking and general miserable pessimism. Just so you know.) Don't want to pry (yet clearly I am) any news about the lump?

apples Boo to hormones. Fingers crossed you get an answer soon.

babylily If you're still about, I hope the bleeding's stopped and you're ok. Take care of yourself.

Hope everyone else is doing well and having a lovely weekend.

thefatladyscreams · 22/08/2009 15:28

monkey must be really hard not to worry but Helpet is right - all the stats are on your side that this little one will stick. But sending loads of glue over to you anyway . Taking it chilled day by chilled day is your new moto!

apples I'm sure AF will appear when least convenient for you (don't they always). Grrrr for you.

If anyone is trying to find their nearest EPAU, I found this link useful:

EPAU finder

helpet · 22/08/2009 11:04

Apples - I'm so so sorry. It almost seems to add injury to insult that AF is playing silly devils. Is this a bit like Meita's experience recently?

Monkeym - just remember this pip stands much more of a chance of becoming a dc than not ... Do you think you might be able to get an early pregnancy scan to put your mind at rest in a couple of weeks (touch wood). Some hospitals will do that if your GP refers you because of prev. mc and anxiety etc. You're not in London are you? St George's Hosp in Tooting has a FREE walk-in EPAU clinic ... guess what I'm planning to do if I get that far ....!!! Anyway, it can't be the only hosp in the country to offer that service.

xxx

Tested. BFN. Where is AF?

monkeymayhem · 21/08/2009 18:00

hey everyone! well have just been to GP. didn't really want to because i saw thw same one last time and on a friday and my mc started on the sunday so felt a bit superstitious but thought don't be daft! sunday will be hell for me though! although he took all my details again he dodn't actually book me in or anything and said it's such early days to pop back in a couple of weeks to do the next set of paperwork. i'm glad in a way because it feels like the pressure's off slightly but it does also bring home how often mcs occur and that it could easily happen again. anyway must keep thinking positive!! will be stocking up on more tests though, did another one today and i know i'll have done the last two by next weekend!!

it's nice to hear you all feeling positive regardless of where you're at in cycle. i think we were all in a state of shock when the mc happened but getting back to 'normal' now as it were.

hope everyone has good weekend!

thefatladyscreams · 21/08/2009 14:34

Really impressed that apples and cheepz have resisted the urge to test early. What resolve! Please post when you get some news (not that I'm impatient).

apples - I was told that all bets are off for the first AF. It doesn't matter what your AF is normally like, whether you get PMS or cramps etc, it can all be different in the first one - so don't expect it to be in your normal pattern. But hopefully AF will be absent for the next 9 months.

blp - glad you're feeling so positive. You're right, it's one step at a time. Glad you enjoyed your meal. I knew I was feeling better when I looked at a baby (albiet it was screaming) and thought "God do I really want to let myself in for all that?"

BestLaidPlans · 21/08/2009 12:57

I am feeling very chilled about it all these past few weeks, which is a welcome relief. We went out for dinner last week and were seated opposite a woman with her newborn daughter. The week previous this would have had me grimacing into my tofu and thinking uncharitable thoughts but all I could think was "Isn't she lovely, I'm really looking forward to having one of those" and generally feeling quite happy about it all.
Though I still haven't unhidden the facebook feed of my teenage cousin who got pregnant by accident and is due four days before I would have been. One step at a time!

cheepz Hope working from home goes well. DH probably knows my cycle about as well as I do to be honest, he quite enjoys looking at all the little hearts on fertility friend, makes him feel manly! Trip had been booked while I was still pregnant.

tfls lovely to see you again, here's hoping you have a very fun week

Hope everyone else is doing well and looking after themselves.

helpet · 21/08/2009 11:18

Monkeymayhem - what brilliant news about your BFP. How are you feeling - I veer from getting a little excited to terrifying myself. Went to GP and was forced into making a decision about which hosp to go to because they're SO busy (they're ALL rubbish -London) and that felt a bit like tempting fate. Have you had the lump checked out? Last thing you need.

Apples - that does sound like it might be implantation (fingers crossed) - have you tested yet?

Hi TFLS - hope ov time is going ok .... !!

BLP - I'll echo how incredibly impressed I am with your rationality with your DH having to go away during ov.

Take care everyone xx

Cheepz · 21/08/2009 10:15

apples day 27 today but its cycle 0 post mc so no af since mc yet and am not optimistic that have ovulated as normally get cramps, have been randomly doing the do but not often enough that if I did ovulate we would definitely have hit the jackpot so to speak and although I don't have any pms symptoms i dont normally get many, and i have no pg symptoms either.

have you done any tests to see whats what. could you be pg and the bleeding is implantation, or maybe its a very light bleed when you would have had your af

so hard to know until you are at least one cycle in i think

working from home today so even less than normal getting done!

applesaretheonlyfruit · 21/08/2009 09:58

Hi thefatladyscreams, I really don't know what is going on.. The tinest smear of blood from Mon to Thursday this week.. AF due, I think today. Nothing today so far, shouldn't it have got heavier by now?

Cheepz, where are you now on cycle? Has AF arrived yet.

thefatladyscreams · 20/08/2009 23:02

Oh wow, this thread fell off my list and I come back and find two BFPs! Maybe I should stay along longer

Huge congratulations to helpet and monkey. I know it must be scary as well as exciting but this is one big step down. What fantastic news.

I was another one thinking turkey baster at the timing of your DH's trip BLP. I do admire you for letting him go!

Welcome babylily - sorry about your m/c but glad you found here. 18 days of bleeding sounds tough.

apples and meita - your posts about focussing on TTC in the first cycle absolutely summed it up for me. I think I locked onto it as some way to cope. You have no control when you m/c and I think I wanted to lock onto something that I could try (in some small way) to influence Here's to our next more chilled cycle.

meita sorry I missed you before you went. Hope you're having a lovely trip in Switzerland and all your celebrations go well.

apples - I hope it's an implementation bleed but my first AF was really weird. It came early and was very light at first. I'd read loads about nightmare first AFs so wasn't sure what was happening at first. Sounds like another game of wait and see (we need an impatient smiley...). Hope it's an implementation though getting buried down nice and deep.

Very of your size 14 cheepz and glad it wasn't The Flu. I still love your idea of buying lots of lovely clothes to tempt fate so that you hopefully won't fit in them soon!

Roll on the weekend. Have a busy day at work tomorrow and not in the right mind set. I'm hopefully coming up to o/v soon (coming up as medium on the Clearblue monitor) so have a rather one track mind at the moment .

Cheepz · 20/08/2009 13:16

monkeys helpet and apples busy busy on this thread lots of good news which is really good to see

apples am sure if it is like that it will be minor implantation and if it is not materialising into anything more serious try not to worry, fingers crossed for you

blp i am with you - dh is quietly oblivious to where i am in the cycle and i don't dare tell him as it throws him off his stride completely!

I am rpetty sure its not going to be happening here this cycle - it is the first one post mc and i have not had AF so although its day 26 and would normally be 2 days before due date I am not holding my breath that af will arrive on normal date - but am expecting her all the same as nothing about my body feels very pg right now! and I have no idea when I ov'd and whether we did the bd at the right time

anyway - am feeling fine about it actually relishing the fact there is no pressure - once am back into normal cycle am sure i will be counting and stressing and wondering and all those things

on and on

BestLaidPlans · 20/08/2009 11:53

Morning all.

apples I almost snorted tea over the ironing. Don't think I'll be getting the turkey baster out just yet, but thanks for cheering me up. Loads of explanations for slight bleed, fingers crossed it's implantation though. Take care of yourself.

Hope everyone has a good day.

applesaretheonlyfruit · 19/08/2009 23:07

By the way, Bestlaidplans, I think you are being very calm and mature about your dh absenting himself during crucial time..

I was thinking though, has he not heard of DHL, or similar courier service... for important deliveries.

applesaretheonlyfruit · 19/08/2009 22:58

Fabulous news monkeymayhem, maybe you and your sister-in-law will go through the journey together. I know what you mean about not being too excited though - there are so many small hurdles to cross, but still, getting preggers is the major one!!! Don't worry that other people will feel a bit sad, because it another BFP shows there is hope after miscarriage.

Me - I have NO IDEA what my body is doing. Was going to test on Friday this week as will be 14 days since I thought I ov'ed. But on Monday I had a slight, and by slight I mean a mere smear of blood. Christ, I thought, its all over. Trussed myself up in pad ( first real period after mmc, I thought I should be prepared) awaiting the onslaught.... nothing. Same Tuesday, same today. A whisper of blood in the morning, then nothing. By whisper, I mean v pale pink... What is going on???

BestLaidPlans · 19/08/2009 21:04

Oh monkeymayhem, congratulations on the BFP (I'll get excited for you!)Fingers crossed that the lump is just hormonal. Take care of yourself.

monkeymayhem · 19/08/2009 20:52

hello ladies! we had a lovely evening last night thanks helpet . just went to local ask rstaurant but the food was really good and it was nice and relaxed. as soon as my sister left us having babysat dd woke up and that lead to yet aother unsettled night, resuting in me sleeping in her bed with her. the past 3 weeks there's only been maybe 3 or 4 nights where she's slept through on her own. need to get tough again but it's so much easier just sleeping with her.

slight downer yesterday in that i've found a small tender lump on my chest, probably nothing but you always start fearing the worst!! will book appt with doctor in next few days. will also be telling dr that i got BFP!!! couldn't stand the suspense of waiting any longer, bought a test this morning then did it when dh got home this afternoon. i really did think i was pregnant because i felt it really but wondered if it was all psychosomatic. don't feel that excited really but only because i'm scared it won't progress so i guess it's self preservation. i have 3 more tests left which will get used up fairly soon no doubt!! not been bding for past week or so because i thought i was pregnant and last time the mc bleeding started just after we'd had sex so dh is now banned from coming anywhere near me until i relax about it all, so maybe july 2010?!

anyway i'll keep you all posted and really hope everyone's ok and that my BFP doesn't make anyone else feel worse. keeping fingers crossed for you allx

BestLaidPlans · 19/08/2009 20:43

Hello all. Hope everyone's well.

DH has just left for Exeter (for the two days before and after ovulation, which is quite poor timing, but hey ho) Intending to spend the time doing productive things around the house and for work, but I suspect I'll spend most of it wasting time on the internet and reading in the sunshine!
