Here's a shiny new thread named especially for 4ever, let this be the one where we get lots and lots of new BFPs and everyone's pants get bigger

Ever onwards and upwards for all of you lovely ladies

Neeko · 09/07/2009 21:45

I'm just addicted to you lot!
I hope no one on the thread is offended by my DD posts. It has just struck me that I might be being a bit insensitive by posting about her If so, I'm really sorry and I'll cut it out.

Curly Hope the time flies past for you.x

Curlywurlee · 09/07/2009 21:42

Neeko your dd is hilarious. Can me and Gracie borrow her for the next couple of weeks to distract us??

Moon you are lovely, I hope this one is for keeps My scan is next Friday - just 8 more sleeps!

OP posts:
BlueMoon1981 · 09/07/2009 21:40

x post neeko at your dd! i like the short post (!) you are either an extremely fast typer or you had more time than you thought you did! hope you are ok xx

BlueMoon1981 · 09/07/2009 21:36

curly we all know better than anyone that you don't necessarily feel lucky when you are pg, it just opens up a whole new world of worry, and it can be difficult to stay positive. how long til your scan? i can only assume your bean is fighting fit with all the morning sickness, i think he is here for keeps

Neeko · 09/07/2009 21:33

Hi all. Don't have too much time to post but will try to get round you all quickly.

MLS Was very relieved to hear you're home safe and sound and already concentrating on getting up the duff again. Your strength amazes me.

Hoping Your post made me really laugh. thanks so much for being able to poke fun at yourself and make us all see how obsessed we really are

Cupcake and Jools It sounds so positive for you two. i'm getting excited!

Vjay I drank raspberry leaf tea from week 36 like a mad woman. Contractions started 20 mins into my due date, tailed off then came back. DD was born the next day. I also took arnica from 39 weeks. Dread to think how much I'd have suffered from the forceps/big scary sald tongs without it. Good luck. the end is nigh and I'm so excited about our 1st Emmsy's graduate.

Gracie Since you're so slim (size 8 if I remember rightly) is there not a chance that your los heartbeat could be heard with a doppler? I heard DD's at ten weeks after a bleed after sex (I was neurotic enough to beg for a scan too but that's by the by ) Stay strong.

Curly Glad to hear you're puking like a landlubber at sea if that's what reassures you! Don't the dolly partons get in the way when your head's down the loo?

Iggy Lovely pic. i might do that after my holiday if DH takes one from my thin side!

Blue Hi to you. Hope you got your housework done

Moon really pleased to hear you're being looked after. Cheesecake sounds yummy!

Annie Hope you're coping ok.

Hi to the rest of the lovely Emmsy ladies.

Leave you with DD's antics today. I was getting undressed for a shower this morning when she said "Mummy, why do you have hair on your bottom?" I very bravely answered that all mummy's have that to which she responded "Does a spider live in there?" I didn't even reply to that! Who knows what her next question will be!

Curlywurlee · 09/07/2009 21:21

Thanks Moon I am probably just looking for something else to worry about

A BBQ sounds lovely. I know what you mean about being social, it takes so long to get back to yourself so it's nice to actually have fun and feel normal

I'm fine thanks, I was really fed up yesterday but I guess it is just the wait till the scan. I just want to know everything is okay Anyway I am so lucky to be up the duff, it's time to start thinking positive

OP posts:
BlueMoon1981 · 09/07/2009 21:06

curly its weird, i think she has a 6th sense that something is wrong, so she has been looking after me bless her. she is having a hard time herself with her dad having cancer treatment so we look after each other.

well the weekend is taken up with dps mum coming over, but i dont mind that, she is lovely and i am quite looking forward to being social again! hoping the weather holds out for a bbq...

how are you doing apart from the sickness?

not sure about your swine flu question, i would guess its the same level of risk as getting regular flu?

Curlywurlee · 09/07/2009 20:49

Hey moon your assistant really is lovely. I'm glad someone is looking after you in work. at stupid pregnant lady but I'm glad she's okay mainly because you would have felt bad if she wasn't

So have you made any nice plans for yourself to do at the weekend yet? (did I mention I'm a bit of a nag )

OP posts:
BlueMoon1981 · 09/07/2009 20:32

mls i am pleased you are home and that you can start to put the pieces back together. i was thinking of you today.

kate its good to see you, are you ok?

gracie i hope the 2 weeks til your scan will fly by (i know it probably wont) but my fingers and toes are crossed for you and your bean

curly hello - i love your posts, you always seem to know what to say and you are so thoughtful.

today i found out the pg lady i was worrying about all week has been signed off work for a whole week cuz she 'feels tired all the time' and to think i was worried for her! i am so . but my lovely assistant cheered me up by bringing me homemade cheesecake she really is lovely to me.

hello and waves to everyone xxx

Curlywurlee · 09/07/2009 20:25

MLS I'm so glad the physical bit seems to be over for you. Have a lovely glass of wine or two tonight and when you feel ready, we shall commence putting together the battle plan for operation getmlsuptheduff You've been incredibly brave throughout this long drawn out process, I hope now the real healing can begin

Jools we are such freaks - nausea gets us all excited This is sounding so promising for you!!!

Hoping I nearly wet my pants reading your post about being jealous of men with beer bellies you crazy lady hehe. I don't actually have a house by the sea but maybe we should all go and live with mermaid for a while

Speaking of which, where is the lovely mermaid?

33 weeks VJ this is so amazing. You and our other big pants ladies give us such hope

iggy your photos are lovely. When I feel brave enough, I might even send one around myself

gracie I was convinced of the worst yesterday as I didn't puke at all for the first time in nearly 4 weeks. I was stupidly happy when I puked like the wind this morning VJ and kate are right, symptoms come and go. No doubt you will be feeling rubbish again soon

kate how are things with DH? love and hugs to you too xxx

cupcake it's lovely to hear from you. We will all have to do the keepthewitchawayfromcupcake dance over the next few days till you get a BFP. Fingers crossed honey

Are you okay Moon? Hope work was better today xxx

Well this is a remarkably short post for me. Looks like I got here just in time before the jibberjabber gets outta control

Quick question for the medics among us. Is swine flu a big risk if you get it when pregnant? DH came home today saying that a girl who sits opposite him has gone home with flu like symptoms. Don't know whether to be worried

OP posts:
cupcakefairy · 09/07/2009 18:34

Hi girls v quick post from me as my bf is due over but hello!!
Ha a good time on the conference but also v emotional/difficult as 2 work friends are expecting 2nd babies (and doing stuff like playing the heartbeats to us all on their phones ) and another work friend's wife has had 4 mcs...I chatted to him today and was just really sad

Anyway, the good news is no af yet, and no temp drop. If I ov'd when I think I did af should be due tomorrow so if my temp doesn't drop in the morning I may just get a bit excited .

Will try to pop back in after bf has gone and before we leave for in-laws but have caught up with posts and just want to say I love you all!! (and not just for your comments about my pic )xxx

MrsKate · 09/07/2009 18:09

hi mls glad you are home and safe .been thinking of you xxx

gracie its all the baking you have been doing you not had time to think about it xxxxxx. sorry shifts are crap xx

love and hugs to everyone .xxxxxx

GracieGirl · 09/07/2009 18:07

MLS as long as you drink plenty of non alcoholic fluids too the anaesthetic won't stop you drinking alcohol (don't tell my anaesthetist DH that!) I noticed your small pants comment on Facebook, I wasn't really sure what I could reply to that when its public. - Hoping you'll soon be in medium pants again!

Thanks Vjay for the reassurance. My scan is 2 weeks tomorrow, I just really want to know if my Bean still has a heart beat.

MrsKate just rang me with my shifts for August. I only have 2 days shifts in the whole of August, all the rest are nights, what are they trying to do to me??!! (I can feel another sick note coming on! )

VJaybigpants · 09/07/2009 17:53

gracie I had days like that in the begining when my symptoms would disapear, only for them to come back in the evening or the following day, plus if you've been really busy you don't notice them.

MummyLovesSadie · 09/07/2009 17:40

Oh bloody hell GG why do our minds play tricks on us like this? Can you not sneak into resus & get MrsKate to do a quickie scan to put your mind at rest? Right, now cover your ears (or eyes)....

...Iggy yup a large drink or two will definitely be taken tonight - even though I'm not supposed to after the anesthetic

GracieGirl · 09/07/2009 17:26

MLS good to hear your operation is over and you're safely back home for a snooze.

No pregnancy symptoms today, I've been full of energy, no pain, no nausea. I'm trying not to think about it too much, it could be all in the mind as thats what happened last time.

iggypiggy · 09/07/2009 16:34

MLS glad is over - hope you getting some rest. Sugguest large drink tonight xx

VJaybigpants · 09/07/2009 15:15

thanks for the tips mls and blue, i'm 33 weeks now so will wait another week at least before starting the raspberry brew.
mls I'm so glad all went well today and your operationgetmlsuptheduff is about to start loving that

MummyLovesSadie · 09/07/2009 15:05

Back again. Vjay I took raspberry leaf supplements instead of the tea with my dd, I think I started at about 36 weeks. I'm convinced they worked (for those who don't know, raspberry leaf strengthens your uterus & gives you more productive contractions) as I was only in labour for about 11 hours & the pushing stage only lasted 17 minutes. I would also really recommend perineal massage, here is a guide. I did it & I think I was the only one of my friends not to have torn. One last thing I'd really recommend is arnica tablets, you can get them from any health food shop & they come in a little push button tube thingy. You start taking them the moment you go into labour & they help with the whole healing process. A couple of days after I gave birth I just had to know what I looked like 'downstairs' so I got on my hands & knees with a mirror expecting to see the Dartford Tunnel but I was most pleased to see that everything had pinged nicely back into place so I'd say arnica is the way forward!

bluesatinsash · 09/07/2009 14:53

Oh MLS - glad its all over and went well and hope you're sleeping as I type. You need all your energy for operationGMLSUTD Vjay - I took raspberry tablets with DS, was paranoid to take them too early so think I started @ 34 weeks. He was 4 days late, 36 hour labour and c-section so not sure how much "preparing the uterus for delivery" they did .

Hoping had a sneaky lol at your "bigger boobs, being put down to putting on half a stone"

to all, off to do the housework while DS sleeps

MummyLovesSadie · 09/07/2009 14:23

Thanks for your good wishes everyone, I'm back home & all went well. The doctor told me that there actually wasn't anything left inside me which I did suspect as the bleeding that I'd had for ten days tailed off yesterday, but I felt like I need the op for peace of mind. I have to go back to the epu tomorrow for a scan just to make sure she didn't miss anything. Everything just must have broken up & come out in the bleeding I've been having, it was completely different from my last mc when (as Jools so succinctly put it) 'the world fell out of my bits'.

Right operationgetmlsuptheduff is well & truly on..... after I've had a bit of a sleep that is....

VJaybigpants · 09/07/2009 12:36

Ok a question for you that have done this before. I've got some raspberry leaf tea and I've read a bit about it and it says take 1 cup/tablet from 32 weeks then increase the amount etc... but the midwife says wait until 37 weeks before taking it. Now I didn't take it with ds and he was 18 days late so want to avoid that! Did any of you take this with your dc's? if so how early, I'm all ready to start brewing now

VJaybigpants · 09/07/2009 12:16

Afternoon ladies, mls I'm thinking of you today and sending a big hug your way xxxxx
annie a big hug for you too, and roll on the next two weeks for your scan xx

hopingalways · 09/07/2009 11:51

curle you are the loveliest person to be so kind to all of us when you're in the wringer yourself! Love the idea of a cottage by the sea, an emmsys hide-away! Good luck with the scan.

annie what an awful thing to happen. my nieghbour's little girl had the same thing at your stage. the mum ended up with pre-eclampsia and all sorts (not connected in the slightest! please do not thing they were connected in any way!), babby had to be delivered early etc - now a beautiful, perfect toddler who screamed all the way through our wedding. bless.

MLS hear hear. keep us posted on how you're feeling - I'm keeping some vodka mini-milks on ice for you for when you get back (hug)

jools sounds promising...fingers crossed

kate how are you feeling today? wish we could whisk you away to curlee's seaside cottage and look after you through this time.

moon you are not a horrible person to feel that way or think those things at all. We've all done it, it's just so bloody hard when you see mummies and can't understand why they didn't have to suffer what we do. Whenever I see a pg lady I still automatically think then have to remind myself that I don't know what they have been through - one day that will be us with our baby bumps, and new emmsys angels will think that about us! I knew I needed to get a grip once I caught myself thinking after seeing a bloke with a massive beer belly

blue so pleased to hear things are going well with you

vjay your dh made me laugh too!

gracie hang in there grumpy! we'll be measuring you up for big pants before you know it!

tattifer welcome aboard the good ship madness. Hope you're feeling a little better

4ever and neeko, when's the testing party?

cupcake how's the 2ww going? I have no tips for keeping your sanity, speaking as the lunatic who thought she could be pg after AF came .

I did test in the end and was convinced there was a line! in the end dh convinced me that I have officially lost contact with reality instead. This is not going to be an easy month. Could have saved myself the angst if I'd phoned home - found dh curled up in bed feeling "sick and giddy, with a weird taste from all the varnish fumes". and it seems swollen boobs are a natural consequence of putting half a stone on [why is there no I'm an idiot emoticon?!]

iggy i second your view on ttc. according to dh I get scary enough to make him consider hiding the wardrobe til I've gone. I think he's joking, he seems to enjoy bding enough once I've got him cornered not as often as I'd like though can I join you on the turkey-baster-barbiemobile-science-lab raid?

speaking of the barbiemobile, when's barbie back from her yurt?
