Welcome everyone from the old 'Mid 30s and TTC for the first time' thread. And welcome newbies too. Don't mind the poster in the corner dipping pregnancy test sticks into her glass of gin.

OP posts:

OK, deeeeep breath......

If we're calling a line a line, then it would appear that I might well be in the club.

It's impossibly faint but it's pink, the right width and in the right place.

Perhaps we were aiming for the right hole after all

[leaves building to get properly expensive peestick]

laurielou · 26/06/2009 16:50

Good luck cosmo keep us updated.

I'm back home from a bit of a spending spree. DP isn't happy with my bargain £3 flip flops for hols, apparently bargain hunting doesn't match our first class travel status .

Also bought big box of Thorntons to help the gin go down this eve.

OK, so now I'm going to start putting my thermometer stuff to good use. Trouble is it says to start on the first day of your period, but also to test first thing in the morning. Well, my period arrived mid-morning. I don't have this spotting leading up to the main event, I go from 0 - 60 in 3 seconds. Soooooooo, I'd class today as day 1, but can't test temp today. Am I already buggared if I start temping tomorrow? And should I class that as day 1 or 2?

Anyone follow?

Honestly, if I can't fathom this out its no wonder I can't get PG, just far too daft!

Cosmosis · 26/06/2009 15:39

I'm shortly going off to talk pie. Wish me luck, lushes.

Aussieng · 26/06/2009 13:01

Oh blimey. Not a good day. Sorry Trig and Laurielou . Be good to yourselves this weekend.

Maybe we should instigate a no early testing policy.

wildfig · 26/06/2009 12:02

Oh, nuts. Sorry about that.

Cosmosis · 26/06/2009 11:40

Sorry laurielou

laurielou · 26/06/2009 11:15

Update - no POAS required, period just arrived.

What was it I said about having a lovely day off?

BOLLOCKS!!

laurielou · 26/06/2009 10:51

Ooo, went all posh vrey............

laurielou · 26/06/2009 10:50

trig I'm so sorry to hear your news. Don't really know what else to say - get tested, get bladdered, & be kind to yourself, x

OK, I wimped out of testing. Everyone seems to have gone MJ bonkers & saying you'll constantly be asked where you were the day he died. I don't want my story to be "I was POAS then I fainted / cried / collapsed with fear / joy" etc, etc.

Plus, I'm just crap.

I feel like period is coming - even to the point of rushing to the loo waving tampon in hand, only to return it to the cupboard.

ski love the idea of "your lover" spraying himself in your pee. Surely there's another website for that kind of behaviour.......

donttry am & in equal measures at seagulls giving away your TTC secret.

Having a crisis of what to call "my lover". Not married, partner sounds gay or businesslike & boyfriend makes him sound 14 years old.

Loving a day off - still in pj's listening to Kasabian vrey loudly - trying to drown out sound of little monster angel next door having a hissy fit.

skihorse · 26/06/2009 09:28

Geekylass His grandma is from Easterhouse - only a husband from the Gorbals can trump that I believe!

Please will nocoffee and laurielou stop fucking around and Pee On the Fucking Stick. I know earlier in the week there was some blather about not wanting to tell your husbands by text, but MAN UP ladies, they'll be home tonight.

Cosmosis · 26/06/2009 09:23

Oh trig I'm so sorry. i agree with the others, go to the docs and see if you can get checked out.

Geekylass · 26/06/2009 09:21

wildfig - weeeeelll, given that my degree is in English Language I should really be more careful (and learn to proofread!)

skihorse - ooh, I used to live on Duke Street, loved it there (apart from the Louden Tavern being across the road from us). We might be moving back to Dennistoun actually as we can't afford to buy where we are now (Woodlands). I think I outrank him on the scummy scale as I am originally from Springburn (imagines skihorse's OH recoiling in horror and warning her away from the thread)

nocoffee - sounds like you will also be annoying the RCOG with your willful disregarding of their guidelines I think, those symptoms indicate knocked-uppedness to me!

skihorse · 26/06/2009 08:13

donttry hahahhaaha dignity

Speaking of pisssticks, I forgot to tell you yesterday morning but OH was determined to either make the line go darker or disappear all together. So he lay in bed shaking it - then suddenly a look of horror appeared over his face... he'd managed to "spray" himself with wee from the stick. Idiot!

This week is insane, from another forum I use where there are ~7 of us TTC - 3 of us have BFPs this week.

donttrythisathome · 26/06/2009 07:11

Wonder how bubbles the chimp is holding up?

donttrythisathome · 26/06/2009 07:08

cheggers don't mind your paramourrrr finding your pee sticks. Everyone in my 'hood knows I'm TCC. The seagulls ripped the rubbish bag to shreds a couple of weeks ago and my huge stash of pee sticks ended up strewn all over the pavement in front of my house .

In prime position like. For several hours.

Don't live down a country lane either - tis a tightly packed terrace...

wildfig I've signed up for Marian's newsletter, she's such a dote.

I have no symptoms except I feel totally bloated with wind and the odd tingle in an odd place. But usually feel like that (have colitis).

Nocoffeenoworkee · 26/06/2009 07:02

The King of Pop GONE?!! Madonna can' stop cying, and Uri is bereft; what is the world coming to?

Oh well, dog walk then work for me. Maybe a full caffeine coffee too as a reward for starting so early

cheggers · 26/06/2009 00:15

oh no - it was a preg stick. lol

the ovulation sticks were actually all over the house at one point though. the scientist in me was trying to chart the shade of stripe over the course of a few days. (was getting the boots persona bumper 30 packs to do several checks in each day) [rolleyes]

they went in the plastic recycling in the end. not even sure if wee soaked stuff is allowed in there

i have to use the term lover / boy / blokey.

can not get used to this "husband" word yet. sounds far too grown up. (married just over a year). i cringe whenever i have to use it officially.

my luverrrr. the more "bristol" it's said the better

wildfig · 25/06/2009 23:12

Oooh. Ov or preg?! Puts a subtle slant on things.

And I like 'my lover'. Is that the same guy who's going to be spiking your arse with drugs? 'My lover' much more fun than DP or DH. Am going to start using 'my lover' in conversation to add an air of mystique to my boring old long term bunk-up (although in conjunction with the cider it might make me sound a bit yokel-ique. ).

cheggers · 25/06/2009 22:41

and on another even lighter slightly embarrassing note, my lover found an old used wee stick in the living room last night.

no idea how it got there. no exciting result or anything on it that was worth running it round the house.

am now desperately trying to work out who else has been in our living room since ??!!

goddamm TCC

cheggers · 25/06/2009 22:28

well i'm definitely not careerist. doing stupid long hours at the moment. don't even get to keep up with what's happening with you guys!

i can't wait to pack it all in. now if only blokey can double his salary somehow ....

must admit though am trying to cram all next weeks work in so we can sneak a holiday in before ivf hell.

have looked in detail at my junky needle stash tonight and they looked HUGE. i'm such a scaredy cat with needles. have warned my lover that there WILL be tears and tantrums. he rolled his eyes as if he expected nothing less

and trig so sorry to hear that that's absolutely shit.

nothing to say really. same as the others. go get checked out.

to be honest i'd rather of got the all clear before we even started trying. would've saved us 9 months of precious post 35 downhillness.

anyway on a lighter note. i passed my AIDS test today

Nocoffeenoworkee · 25/06/2009 21:04

Ha ha, cross post there!

wildfig · 25/06/2009 21:04

sorry, think I intercepted the weight loss high five there...

Nocoffeenoworkee · 25/06/2009 21:01

[high five]

wildfig · 25/06/2009 21:00

trig so sorry - are you sure? (don't mean to be irritating). Poor you. Go to the doctors, get checked out. Thinking of you now, though [sympathetic punch on shoulder]

Nocoffee wellll, I've had a positive OPK but no temperature rise so not sure which to believe, although I've moved around this week, and different locations/rooms/duvets can have an effect on your temperature. Also, DB has been waking me up throughout the night with his godawful snoring, which must affect resting temps. The cast-iron way of telling if you're ovulating is to have day 3 then day 21 bloods done; they measure your HCG and LH and then your progesterone, which tells you if the egg's dropped. Not WHEN though. That's meant to be temping.

donttry love Marian. Have met her! I especially like the upfront way she said, we tried for kids, they didn't happen, we were a bit sad, but lookit, we've got each other and we're happy. She is successful non-mammy role model (and her monthly newsletters are gas).

skihorse · 25/06/2009 20:45

nocoffee yeh... it was a bit of a giveaway being as I'd lost 9lbs in the previous 4 weeks...
