Hello ladies. Have you all had a lovely christmas? Did you all get lots of lovely pressies and those that can, enjoy a festive drink or 2?

Christmas here was lovely. We had my mum and dad here which was just how i wanted it this year. My Ds still gets so excited, its lovely.

Where are we all in our cycles? I'm on cd11, i think! They have decided to scan me again this month, so i had my first scan last Wednesday and my next one is this Tuesday.

Anyone doing anything nice for new year?

popsy my cons told me they weren't giving me anymore fertility treatment on the nhs but I pointed out metformin is not just given for fertility but also for the symptoms of pcos, then I harrassed my gp for the prescription lol. I was advised to start off with 500mg per day for one week then up to 100mg per day for a week then 1500mg which lessened the side effects, you will feel tired for a while hun (bout a week) but it does go away as your body gets used to the metformin.

Hope everyone has a fab christmas and you all get your very special gift you all so deserve xxx

popsy1 · 24/12/2009 16:43

Lovely to hear from you sevans. Things must be hard for you all. You cant even move on as its lasting for so long. I hope they sort it all out for you at your appointment. Huge MN hugs coming your way hun.
The registra was very reluctant to prescribe metformin for me as she said she didn't believe it worked. However she phoned my consultant and she believes in metformin!!
stac i'm on 500mg 3x a day. I've had a dodgy tummy and sickness, but i'm also exhausted, to the point where i'm needing to have a nap. Did you have this aswell? I'm hoping this will wear off as when i'm back to school i cant keep running to the loo or have a nap!!!

Wishing everyone a great christmas and hoping next year is kind to us all.

xxxx

stac14 · 24/12/2009 10:38

sevans i'm so sorry to hear your having such a bad time of it, sending lots of virtual hugs. Hope you can manage to have a good xmas huni.
pink i'm not sure if you would get it for endo, it seems to be more for pcos sufferers but you dont need to be diabetic or overweight. You could ask the cons when you go. Think you are doing the right thing by enjoying crimbo, the worse thing about ttc is the constant pressure we put on ourselves.
Hope you all have a fab xmas. Sending lots of baby dust your way xxx

Pinkali37 · 24/12/2009 09:27

Stac Ah ha... i was wondering what it was for, thank you for explaining it to me. So i wouldn't get it as i am not diabetic or overweight, nor do i have PCOS my insides are just blinking stupid and unfair! Oh but i do have endo!!!

Sevans my MC went on the for quite some time and from the sounds of it i think you would benefit from the D&C.

My philosophy this month is lets have as good a christmas as we can possibly have! We deserve it... Life is difficult for us all at times but i think we need togive ourselves a break and enjoy the family we have around us and look at 2010 as being the year of procreation! xxx

sevans · 23/12/2009 18:40

I'm sorry for being so quiet lately. So much has been going on...the miscarriage, busy at work, Christmas, etc. Can you still believe I am going through this miscarriage? This Saturday will be four weeks since the bleeding and cramping started. I got the option of a D&C a couple of weeks ago but I really wanted to try and get through this naturally as I wasn't too far when the miscarriage happened and I didn't think there was much there to get out. I've had three ultrasounds and none of them have really showed a whole bunch of stuff in there so it seemed best to just go naturally. The pain has been unbearable but luckily I have had vicodin the past two weeks to help as well as an antibiotic to prevent infection. My hcg levels kept rising for the most part but in the last week they started going down but not by a lot. They were in the 2200 range as of yesterday. The bleeding increased yesterday so I am really hoping this is it. I am to do more blood work next Monday and then we will make a decision about the D&C. I may have to end up doing it if my levels don't significantly drop this week. This whole thing has been absolutely miserable and taken more of a toll on me physically than I ever imagined. Almost everyday I have felt sick either from cramping or just sick to my stomach or weak. I really hope to never have to go through this again.

I hope all is well for you girls. Good luck with TTC and hopefully I can join you all again soon.

stac how is the pregnany coming along? I hope everything is going well for you!

stac14 · 23/12/2009 18:38

Hi pink its a drug predominantly used for diabetics, for me it helped me loose weight and regulated my af which hadnt happened in such a long time. It's not licensed for people with pcos but it does have a proven track record for helping with the condition. The problems is a lot of women with pcos are insulin resitant (even if it doesnt show up in bloods) the metformin helps with this. It also encourages ovulation. This is the drug I was taking when I fell pregnant so obviously I cant praise it enough. The only thing is the side effects are sickness and the runs but if you increase your dose gradually this is kept to a minimum. I started on 500mg for the first week until I was up to 1500mg, then when af never came in october I was increased to 2750mg but I didnt increase that gradually and really suffered lol. So the idea is if you take it with clomid it will double your chances, I dont know why if I am honest. Hope this helps a but, not sure if I am just waffling on.

Pinkali37 · 23/12/2009 13:27

Hello

Yes Clomid is the same as Clomiphene.

Popsy had been skiing in Chamonix. It was very cold but they cope so much better with it over there. Sorry that your AF came, i really thought it could be your month. What does the Metformin do???????

I am on CD21 and think i have messed up this month. Got discharge (TMI) with a bit of old blood in it on cd12 but then cd18 i also had discharge but didn't bed until cd19 and cd20 so don't think i've done it properly. I'm so upset and cross with myself. I just always feel that DH is too tired when it is actually the time we should be doing it! Not sure if it is ever going to work again But like someone else said i'm going to try and really enjoy christmas this year.

BigHairyLeggedReindeer · 23/12/2009 10:56

Is clomid the same as Clomiphene??

Jojo1984b · 22/12/2009 23:15

Hey all Merry Christmas

Hows everyone doing?

I have deciced i am going to forget about ttc until the new year and try and enjoy christmas! Will be back on in the new year when ive had my tubes scanned.

In the meantime good luck everyone xxxxxxx

stac14 · 22/12/2009 19:26

popsy the metformin worked for me hun, thats the same info I was told in August, totally understand what you have just been through. They really need lessons in how to treat people with a bit more dignit and respect lol. Go for the metformin hun, I didnt even get the chance to take the clomid. Did she let you know how much the iui would be? Dont look at it as the end of the road, lots of women need the combo of metformin and clomid. Good luck hun, your totally entitled to be mad xxx

popsy1 · 22/12/2009 18:53

Prepare for a rant ladies.....
Well had my appointment. My cons wasn't there so i had a Registra who was bloody clueless!!!! She kept contradicting herself, having to keep going out of the room to ask others questions and then she said "tick tock, the clock is ticking. You are 35yrs" I could have knocked off her stupid stool!!!!
She said basically IUI or IVF was next step and as i have a DS i would have to fund it myself at just over £3000 a cycle!

Eventually, after my rant and her saying even more patronising and annoying stuff, she very reluctantly gave me 3 more months worth of clomid and they've added metformin. We have to think about IUI etc and let them know at next app!

Rant over ladies

xxx

stac14 · 22/12/2009 12:01

sending lots of chocolate covered baby dust to you all *

popsy1 · 17/12/2009 17:48

Thanks stac and Pink I know you are right, it's just it can sometimes get all too much . I can't help but think this should be our baby boys first xmas. Instead i just have horrible memories of giving birth and this whole ttc crap!!
Sorry to moan again. AF arrived yesterday as well .

Hey jojo think i'm feeling pretty much the same. It's no fun, is it???

Thats rubbish peelay how long a break will you have to take? I sympathise with you bout friends announcing BFP, i went through it 8 years ago when we believed we couldn't conceive again, and found it hard. However this time, after loosing my baby at 19wks, i find it even harder to be happy for them and even be around babies. It's completely ridiculous i know, but i just cant help it.

Miserable post ladies, sorry

Will sort myself out for next post!!

Peelay · 17/12/2009 11:26

Hello all,

Jojo sorry to hear you're feeling low but sounds like your last scan was really positive so fingers crossed for you.

I've been taking 100mg of serophene this cycle (it's my third assisted) and had scan to check for follicles on Tuesday. Full of hope as usual, but unfortunately no follicles and one big cyst instead. So have to take a break (again) this cycle and wait for next.

Doc suggested 'super-ovulation' next time (drugs and injections!) but am worried that that just gives me more opportunities for cysts not follicles.

Meanwhile, two more friends announced they're bfp this week. So happy for them but wish I had had better news this month.

Thanks livvi for posting a positive message - those are the ones I re-read to keep me going.

Jojo1984b · 16/12/2009 13:05

Hello everyone,

im feeling really low atm. Just dont think its ever going to happen for me. really fed up. soory about the moan hope everyone is ok xx

stac14 · 15/12/2009 12:28

popsy Think with how well we know each other its easier to come here than go to other threads. I really feel for you huni, as *pink says the best thing to do is concentrate on a lovely xmas with you all. I can understand where your 13 year old is coming from, is he aware of the siutation? I had explained to both of our kids that unfortunately it was as easy for us to conceive but it was a case of when rather than if which seemed to appease them. (think they got to the stage they thought it would never happen) If it can happen to me it can for you hun, make 2010 your year.

pink it may just be some old blood so try not to worry, but remember on clomid you can ov at different times so it might be that. If your really worried phone gp for a bit of advice
xxx

Pinkali37 · 15/12/2009 11:40

popsy I know what it is like i was always doing that to myself. All you can do is make the best out of a sad situation. Have a lovely christmas for your 13 year old and who knows what 2010 holds for us all. if you're on CD32... omg i'm excited for you!!!!!!! I'm going away tomorrow until Saturday so i look forward to reading the news!

So i'm on CD13 today and last night noticed i had a bit of colouration (like browny blood) in a bit of discharge omg tmi.. What is it??? Has it happened to anyone else? Last month being my first back on clomid i ovulated on CD18 so very much doubt it is ovulation this month... ????

beckylou85 · 14/12/2009 22:54

Pink, thanks for the info, my doctor hasn't actually told me what my levels were so not even sure if it is of a good enough level to get pregnant, she just said the clomid is working. I'm on 50mg btw.
good luck all ttc xxx

popsy1 · 14/12/2009 21:21

Thanks for the post livvigirl success stories always give us all a boost. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

CD 32 now and i have decided not to test till the weekend. I get really upset when i see another BFN so i tell myself waiting for AF is just one blow rather than BFN and AF. It may not make sense, but it does to me .

Things are a little tough at home this last week or so. I know this is the wrong thread, but i feel i know some of you ladies now. We are all finding the whole christmas thing too much this year. We should have had our baby boy with us to celebrate . Instead we have a whole host of 'should have beens' and 'would haves!!' Its all getting to us. My 13 yr old have been in tears this week saying "its not fair" and "he doesn't want to be an only child". It tears me apart.

Sorry to off load. Think its another reason why i cant bring myself to test. Don't think i'd be able to stop crying.

xxxx

stac14 · 14/12/2009 13:01

popsy have you tested? xx

Livvigirl · 14/12/2009 11:43

Hi,

Just thought I'd share my story to give you all on Clomid a bit of hope!!

I started Cloimd at 50 mg - no effect, then went to 100mg - no effect (I have PCOS by the way) so my Doctor decided to do Ovarian Drilling, and hoped this would prompt me into a regular cycle and start to ovulate naturally - it didn't!!

So then I started back on the clomid at 100mg and the first month I started again it worked and I am now 3 months pregnant!!!!!!

I does obviously work, sometimes the old ovaries are a bit stubborn and need a good kick up the backside!!!!!

Good luck to you all on Clomid xxxxx
