Thanks for tip stac14 about clomid ovualtion calendar, didnt think of that one!!

My dh keeps telling me to relax but its easier said than done. I know i need to as it affects chances of ttc. I'm on cd14, and have an appointment with consultant in 2 weeks. What is metformin? Not sure if con will switch medication as this will be 12months on clomid over 2 times of taking it.
xx

LiLew · 18/09/2009 15:59

Thanks for that stac14. I'll check with my cons when I see him that all of those other tests have been done. It just seems that my body is just refusing to ovulate, even on the Clomid . Maybe the double-dosage will sort it out and then I won't need to even think about IVF!

Hey xkelly1x - sounds like it might be AF hun . I had a lot of cramping on my first round of Clomid. Sounds like we're quite close together here - I'm on day 3 of my 3rd round. Let us know what your GP says!

Hey lilew I got bloods done for my thyroid (which I have and underactive) Then bloods on during my cycle to check my levels for pcos and then I was sent for an internal scan which showed I had cysts on my ovaries. Following the clomid not working I was sent for an echovist scan which is done to ensure there are no blockages in your tubes (luckily I had none) but as I have ds already I am not entitled to anymore treatment to assist conception, but I asked cons for metformin as it is used for pcos so he agreed to that and 6 more goes of clomid. Also dp got sperm checked twice and all is fine with him. You should query going straight to ivf as my cons said just cos I have pcos doesnt mean I am totally infertile just means I have to work harder. lol (soz for long post)

Hey kelly have you tried calling your cons? sound like it may just be af though hun the clomid can make it very light, mine varied throughout the time I was on it. Try not to get too disheartened. Are you getting bloods or scans monitored to see if your ovulating? xx

xkelly1x · 18/09/2009 13:35

hi LiLew no not yet AF still wasnt ere yesterday AM but we got abit carried away with ourselves last night n started to bleed quiet light straight after n been up all night with cramping all on the right side i know i have a weak cervix so going to GP today just incase its not AF becuase due to take my 3rd round of clomid tonight im so stressed with it all x

LiLew · 18/09/2009 10:42

Thanks for the tip stac14! Boo to the bfn! I feel for you - this is the worst time - just waiting . Keep your chin up!

xkelly1x - sounds like you're going through it as well! Have you plucked up the courage to do a hpt yet?

Thanks for the advice Attila - I have no idea about any of this! I was really shocked when he said that, as I just assumed that they would try all sorts of things and that IVF was a last resort. I've had a Hycosy scan which showed up all normal - does that test anything other than blocked tubes? I also had a blood test a long time ago which I can't remember what that tested for - it was done at the beginning of one of my cylces. That all came back OK too.

What tests do they do to see if you have pcos or thyroid?

Lilew,

Re your comment:-

"I'm going to have a day 21 blood test and then go back to him after that to see if I ovulated. He said that if the 100mg don't work then we'll move onto IVF".

Not surprised you were , I felt that as well when reading this.

Why has he suggested IVF, do you actually have a diagnosis. Common causes of ovulatory issues to name but two are PCOS and thyroid problems. Have both of these really been checked for?.

I would actually be looking into getting a second opinion as going straight from clomid to IVF is a hell of a leap and there are other treatments that can be tried. I would certainly be asking him why IVF was suggested.

Has your man been tested within the last six months; both you and he should have up to date test results. What tests have been done to date?.

xkelly1x · 16/09/2009 15:38

Hey ladies, Hope your all well not been on for a while im on CD30 an still no sign of AF and ive defo ov this month my 21 day bloods where 80.4, i feel totally wiped out an just different but i just got this feeling its just not going to be and im too frightened to do a hpt i cant face the disapiontment again

Hey ladies

lilew I think he's right most cycles longer than 35 days mean you haven't ov'd or are pg which is quite common with women with pcos, I am 8 days late but bfn yesterday, had gathered I wasn't pg as af was induced by the echovist scan. A wee tip I was given was to take clomid before you fall asleep as it lessens the side effects, I had far less that way.

popsy I was totally like that when I was taking clomid but as I have just started the metformin I am having a well deserved break from counting lol. I used online clomid fertility calculators and everything the things we do to get pg. You can also buy self hypnosis cd's online from a company trying to assist women through this when I find the details I will pass them on

Well as I said got bfn yesterday so felt rotten but feeling much better today as went for some retail therapy (always a life saver if af appears or get bfn lol)

Hope everyones good xxx

LiLew · 16/09/2009 10:25

Hey ladies! Drama over - I snapped myself out of it haha! Sorry for my emotional outburst, I know you're all going through it as well - the last thing you need is someone else stressing about their problems!!!

I saw the consultant on Monday and it turns out that I've still not been ovulating on the 50mg Clomid, so he's increased it to 100mg. I've taken the first lot today so we'll see how we get on with the side effects. The headaches have started to kick in already! Interestingly, he said that if your cycle goes past 30 days on the Clomid then you've not ovulated (or you're pregnant, of course!). What are your thoughts on that?

I'm going to have a day 21 blood test and then go back to him after that to see if I ovulated. He said that if the 100mg don't work then we'll move onto IVF .

popsy1 - I am obsessed with TTC as well, and yes my diary is full of fertile dates, etc! Although I have been told that obsessing about it isn't good as it could have an effect on you conceiving. So, I'm trying desperately to relax about it all now, and have reflexology and 'chill-out' time. The worst time for me is the lead up to AF - THAT's when I can't stop thinking about it! With regards to the side effects - I had them pretty much all through my first cycle on the Clomid, but then I had none on the 2nd cycle - maybe your body just gets used to it?

stac14 - how are you getting on hun? xx

popsy1 · 14/09/2009 19:45

I was like that last month. My husband n I were convinced we were pg. I had constipation, sore breasts n felt nauseous. Then af arrives. We were gutted. I cried all weekend. On cd 9 now n dread it all happening again. How do u all not become obsessed wi ttc? My diary is full of fertile dates clomid dates etc etc.
Does anyone suffer side effects after they've finished the clomid? I can feel really low n nauseous for a few days after.
hope yr all getting on well. X

stac14 · 14/09/2009 16:47

hey lilew you poor thing, how did you get on at the cons? x

LiLew · 14/09/2009 11:15

Hey ladies. How is everyone getting on? I'm feeling very sorry for myself at the moment! AF arrived over the weekend and as predicted I went into a terrible mood and just want to cry all the time again now!!

Seeing the consultant today so hopefully he will lift my spirits again.

I swear your body just plays tricks on you - I had constipation, heartburn, no PMT - I was just so hopeful, and then BANG - knocked right back down again.

I seriously just feel like giving all this up - it just does my head in.

Sorry for being a drama queen - just need to get it out haha!! xxx

stac14 · 12/09/2009 21:48

hey popsy I was on clomid for 5 months but it wasnt working for me so I am trying it with the metformin (as soon as af comes lol) I never got scanned at all just bloods to see if I had ovulated but I have heard of them stopping scanning for others.

How is everyone else? all well I hope xx

popsy1 · 07/09/2009 20:58

Thanks for reply stac. Jus had message frm hospital saying to stick to 100mg n no need for follicle tracking as they know that this dose of clomid works. Is this normal to stop scanning?? My hubby n I r a little reluctant as they never scanned me during the 9months years ago n we never fell pg.
Re. Taking the clomid I feel okish a little nausea n av got really low but unsure if it's the clomid or loosing our baby or both.
Feeling particularly low starting this month of clomid as had so many symptoms last month we were both convinced I was pregnant.
Sorry to waffle but I don't really av any one else who understands it all.
How long av people been taking clomid?

Xx

LiLew · 07/09/2009 13:47

Thanks stac14. It's good to know that there are other options out there if the Clomid doesn't work. My DH symptom spots too! I was so tired yesterday that I didn't want to do anything and I slept during the day (not like me - I usually can't sit still for more than 2 minutes!). Straight away he said that maybe I'm pregnant!!! I try not to symptom spot but it's difficult when you're wanting it so badly! I'm on CD27 so we'll see. My last cycle was 33 days, so I've still got a little way to go yet. Here's hoping we both get a BFP this month eh hun?!

Hey beanie! I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage honey - I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like. My cycles could go up to 40 days before clomid. I'm on my 2nd cycle of Clomid now - my last one was 33 days. I've read that Clomid can increase your cycle by a few days though, so maybe give it a few more days before testing again? (easier said than done I know haha!).

Good luck to you both! xxx

beaniebgivesupontheDMarsery · 07/09/2009 11:35

hi all, not sure if I have posted in here before?

Anyway... after getting pregnant on my first round of clomid and then miscarrying I am back on teh clomid and am now on CD29. Tested on Saturday morning and it was a BFN. When I got pregnant before I didn't get my BFP until day 30. Am scared to test.

This is my second round of clomid but I had a 2/3 cycle break between the first and second because of teh miscarriage. Does Clomid make your cycles longer? My old cycle was about 25 days long.

stac14 · 06/09/2009 22:36

?Hiya popsy welcome to the thread, sorry to hear of yoru loss hun. Hows the clomid treating you? I had hot flushes and mood swings, think it made me very low too. The pressure of ttc is a nightmare. The ladies on here are lovely and will ultimately try thier best to give you the help and support we find hard to get from our friends and families. Speak to you soon xxx

popsy1 · 06/09/2009 18:14

Hi all. I've only just discovered this thread, although familiar with mn as have been using the pregnancy loss forum.
Well heres a brief outline of my 'story' .
We have a DS who is 13 (conceived naturally) tried for 2nd child 4 yrs later n no luck. Found out i had PCOS and was put on clomid. We tried it for 9 months and decided to give up (obviously not easily) as we hadn't had any joy .
Almost 9 yrs on i fell pregnant again, naturally , but i lost our baby boy at 19wks. This has been extremely hard to handle. However we have decided to try again. I am just about to start my 3rd cycle of clomid 150mg and was just hoping for support, advise, reassurance and ultimately some hope as feeling very low about everything.
I have read some of this thread and it seems there is some hope but would love to join in with your chats if poss. x

stac14 · 03/09/2009 13:42

Hey lilew I only found out I had pcos last year my ds was concieved naturally and to be honest quite quickly but that was 10 years ago and a lot changed since then lol. DP thinks this could be our month as I feel sick (but think thats the metformin), tired and a few other things but I think he is just symptom spotting lol
If the clomid doesn't work for you (hope it does chick) then you could be offered letrozole, iui's or ivf. There are lots of different things they will do for you chick so dont loose heart xxx

LiLew · 03/09/2009 08:03

Well you never know! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you anyway! Did you conceive your last child while on Clomid or anything?

I don't have pcos, and my tubes are all OK - I just hardly ever ovulate! We have been TTC for nearly 2 years now. I don't know what the next step will be if I don't fall on this batch of Clomid. I'll ask the cons when I see him...

x

stac14 · 02/09/2009 16:05

Hey lilew I doubt the psychic is right, I'm not that optimistic lol. My gp done my bloods and called me when I ov'd, your cons may just be waiting to see how your body is reacting to the clomid its different for me as this is my 2nd child we are trying for so kind of got different rules for me. Do you have pcos? if so you should defo be monitored when on clomid as you ovaries can be overly stimulated with the tablets. Listen to me going on and on lol How long have you been trying? xxx

LiLew · 02/09/2009 14:48

Hi stac14! I had a CD21 blood test last cycle, but the results went straight to my consultant and I haven't heard anything yet. I'm due to see him on 14th Sept so I'll ask about it then. I've not had any scans or another blood test though. I'll ask about that as well when I see him next. Maybe he's waiting to see if I fall with these tablets and if not he'll start monitoring more closely?

You're right - it's nice to be able to speak to others in the same boat and support eachother. I'm feeling a lot better about things at the moment though so lets hope that continues!

Let's hope your aunt's phsychic is right and you fall this month

xxx

stac14 · 02/09/2009 12:25

Hey lilew
Are you being monitored while on clomid? You should be getting bloods done on cd21 to see if you have ov'd or scans on cd 10 to check for ripened follicles. I know its hard but try not to be too down this month if its not bfp, ttc is a roller coaster and we are here to help out with anything thats bothering you. I felt the same as you in the begining but I am now trying to remember that not getting pregnant isnt my fault I am just unlucky but it will happen eventually. I think it really helped coming on here and speaking to people in the same boat otherwise I would have drove myself mad lol hope you get your bfp soon hun xxx

hows everyone else? xxx

LiLew · 01/09/2009 15:13

Hello all! It's so nice to hear a success story with lauren! It really does help you not to give up hope! Congratulations lauren - how lovely to have twins Are you going to find out the sex?

I'm on CD 21 (2nd clomid cycle). Not sure if I've ovulated or not, but BD'd loads so if I don't fall pregnant this month then it's certainly not through lack of sex!

Still not really had any of the side effects I had last cycle, apart from feeling sick. I really hope the tablets are working

I've got a feeling that if I don't fall this month I'm going to be REALLY gutted. I'm terrified of feeling as low as I did leading up to and during my last AF!! I've tried to relax loads this cycle and not stress about things, but that might set me up for a bigger fall!!

Hope you're all OK xxxx

stac14 · 31/08/2009 09:58

lauren Congrats hun, I am so chuffed for you, can't believe your having twins yay!! I am ok thanks have started on metformin and have heard good things about it so hoping it works, but if my aunts psychic is to be believed then I should get bfp or fall pregnant in September (we'll see lol) So how are you feeling? Is the sickness getting any better? It usually calms down after 12 weeks. Are you going to find out what your having? I remember on the last thread you said you would love twins I am so happy for you (soz for being all gushy lol)

claire hows you? Hows the decorating coming on? Think I was oving yesterday as had pains there but who knows. I go onto 1000mg metformin today so hoping I am as lucky as I was last week with very little side effects.

peju How you feeling hun? I mailed you on the other thread.

Hope everyone else is good, clwc not heard from you in ages is all ok? xx
