Hi ladies

stac not sure about the answer to your question about ovulation. I'm not being offered any day 21 bloods - thats bad isn't it? To be honest it was SUCH hard work trying to make contact with consultant in asking advice on my provera prescription I feel that I haven't got the energy to be doing anymore chasing Stac do you have the CD21 done by fertility clinic or GP?

awen hi cycle buddy. Are you going to take your clomid tonight? I thought I would - in anticipation of possible side effects. I've just stopped have hot flushes and am so relieved that I'm dreading the possibility of them starting up with the clomid

thanks all you ladies who have wished me well in getting my af!!

Tis raining here. Me and DD are going to find lots of messy art to do!!

OracleInaCoracle · 26/05/2009 09:44

stac, are CD21 bloods to see if youve ov'd then? is that standard?
and its a relief that it was common. mood swing doesnt seem to cover the magnitude of my rage!

stac14 · 26/05/2009 09:20

Hi ladies

Can anyone tell you ov one month on clomid if you automatically continue to ov? Scared to go for CD 21 bloods just in case it hasnt worked this month

Good news all round then ladies especially awen & clure, this thread seems to be getting luckier so lets keep our fingers crossed for each other

lissielou I was a bit psycho the first couple of month but have just finished 4th cycle and the symptoms have calmed down loads since than

baby dust for all

AttilaTheMeerkat · 26/05/2009 08:39

Awen

150mg is the usual max doseage for clomid; please do not self increase the dosage.

What they should also be looking at now is other treatment options.

OracleInaCoracle · 26/05/2009 08:34

good news all round then!

Great news cluere will keep fingers crossed for you

Not much happening my end, get bloods on cd 21 hopefully I will have ovd again this month.

Does anyone know if once you've ovd on clomid is it guaranteed to keep happening each month??

Hope you have all had a nice bank holiday xxx

KiwiKat · 25/05/2009 14:30

Clure, that's great news. Am also very impressed with the 10k run!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 25/05/2009 11:04

Hi peju

Please do not use OPK's; the combination of PCOS and clomid will give an invalid result. Clomid can also increase LH levels. OPK's are not beneficial anyway if PCOS is an issue.

At the very least you should be under the care of a gynae rather than a GP. PCOS is not a problem for them to be messing around with.

Symptom spotting as well can be misleading.

There are other things that can be tried in the event that clomid is unsuccessful; two possible options are injectible drugs and ovarian diathermy surgery.

Has your man also been tested to date, this should be done as a matter of course.

OracleInaCoracle · 25/05/2009 11:00

clure, thats great news!! it must be such a relief.

awen, pleased for your friend, she must be terrified though. and when i said i recognised you, i meant from mn. weve shared some of the boards.

one little question, when will the mood swings die down? im behaving like a psychopath!

Clure · 25/05/2009 09:05

Hi all

Well HURRAY!! My AF arrived this morning, can't believe it after all this time. I can begin clomid tomorrow. My hands are shaking I'm in so much shock!!

Awen hopefully yours will come soon. How long since you finished provera? I am 9 days since finishing. I didn't really have any premenstural symptoms the only good thing is that my hot flushes have stopped, which is a massive relief. Good news about your friend, she sounds like she's had a horrendous time - hopefully she has good times to look forward to now.

Hi paddington glad you had good break, nice to have you back.

Just off to do a 10k run! xxx

MamaMaiasaura · 24/05/2009 23:14

what you mean 'recognise' lissie? as in rl?

Hi clure - still no af here, been having cramps all day but nada on the af. How are you feeling? I have really itchy boob at the moment, most annoying. Also ds2 has been going boob mad again, think it was the progesterone as he was done to 3 easy feeds a day. Now each feed is dragged out and he goes from one to the other.

Got baby shower to go to tomorrow. Will be lovely as very excited for friend but also a little hard as I'd hoped our next 2 wouldnt be far apart in age (my ds2 and her dd2 are 5 months apart and playmates).
Also my best friend who has had an awful time 2 mc and last one was late on as only picked up on 20 week scan She has a bfp! waiting to hear if scan ok though so keeping fingers crossed for her.

babydust to everyone xxxx

peju25 · 24/05/2009 19:14

think im gonna try and leave it before testing for another 2 weeks...trying not to get my hopes up...off on holiday in 2 weeks too so will be a good start if i am and if not guess plenty of sangria!!

Clure · 24/05/2009 14:29

hi peju, anything is possible! Your symptoms sound promising. Its like kiwikat said, you can talk yourself into believing anything! when are you going to test?

peju25 · 24/05/2009 11:11

Hi all - hope you dont mind if i join in...was on here a while back but turned to watching for a bit!
My story..im 32 been ttc for just ove 2 years got PCOS and was given clomid by doc didnt take it all in a row as felt i needed a break.

Have just had my last dose of it cd 2 - 6 and am now on cd21...did the baby dance cd 11, 12 and 13 and then 16 got pos opk cd15.

i thinkim having symptoms but dont know if it is just the vain hope this last chance will work as not sure what our options are. anyway my symptoms are tender nips and feeling full in the boob department!! On cd15 was sick in evening then had diarrhea on cd 18 to 20 and on occasion a feeling of heavy tum...what do you think?? we sooo want this. i dont get symptoms with clomid usually and usually dont get symptoms of af till bout cd28 (af usually around cd31)

Got so much crossed i cant move!!

KiwiKat · 24/05/2009 10:15

We didn't go for it, just kept humming and haaing, but am now wondering if (hoping) the bd on the morning of the scan may have worked - had horrific pmt grumpiness yesterday, so maybe, combined with very sensitive nipples, so maybe not. Isn't it silly? You can talk yourself into believing anything.

Hope everyone else is enjoying the sunshine and can put all of this out of your minds for a bit.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 23/05/2009 19:37

Wannabemum

It sounds like they're mucking you about a bit and cannot understand the registrars comments (did you challenge him on that?). It is unfortunately fair to say that some NHS (I presume this is NHS) units are far better than others.

What hormone levels were tested on day 2?. Both LH and FSH should have been tested and, importantly, compared against one another. I wonder if that was actually done if they told you the results were okay?. My guess is that LH and FSH can be okay if looked at separately but they must be compared against one another. If that was not done the test is meaningless.

With cycles as irregular as yours they should be looking at the possibility of you having a condition called polycystic ovaries or PCOS. Another possible cause is thyroid problems; again both should be looked into.

I would also think you were given northisterone to bring on a bleed. The HSG is done to see if your tubes are patent (open).

If you go down the private route you need to do a lot of research beforehand and ask a lot of questions. Some private clinics offer poor as well as expensive treatment, they are by no means all good. In the initial and early stages at least you are safer under the NHS. BTW your man should be tested as well asap to either confirm or rule out any male factor problems.

I guess as well you do not as yet have a diagnosis.

You may want to ask your GP for a referral to another subfertility unit. It is vitally important that all of you can work as a team.

Wannabemum1 · 23/05/2009 18:57

Thats what I thought! My Husband was not happy when she was telling me this! But hey, I will do anything I'm told to have a baba Thank you very much for your reply, is nice to hear other opinions too. I wish you lots of luck with your no. 2 x

Clure · 23/05/2009 18:51

Hi wannabemum welcome to the thread, there are lots of lovely ladies here to offer support, advice and share experiences with.
I too had low progesterone levels. I have a DD aged 4 and manged to conceive her on one cycle of clomid. I'm trying to conceive number 2.
This time my periods have completely stopped (my last period was 5th January) so I understand how frustrating it must be for you. You probably had Northesterone? (which is progeterone meds to induce a period) I was given another verson of this called provera. Unfortunatley it didn't bring on my period and so consultant trebled the dose - I've been waiting a week so hoping it will come soon! As soon as it comes I have clomid to try again.
Unfortunately I have age against me this time, I'm 41

This time I actually requested clomid. You've every right to do this although it sounds like your clinic want to get a good picture of your fertility health first. Sounds a bit odd your consultant telling you to lose weight if you a size 12 and fit and healthy!!

Wannabemum1 · 23/05/2009 18:43

Been trying for baba for 18 month now. Was refered to fertility clinin in march. I have had irregular cycles ranging from 52 days to 38 days . The last proper cylce was xmas 2008!!! The doctor in march gave me something begining with an N to start me off then to have a hysterosalpingogram and blood tests on day 2 and 21. I went back to the clinic to find results are fine but very low in pregrestrone. They are NOW wanting me to have yet another blood test with on days 2 and 35 without their help to start my cycle! What didn't they do tis first time round?? Regestrar also told me to lose weight (I am a size 12 and vegetarian and gym it 3 times a week) Does anyone think they may give me Clomid next? Are they messin me about? Shall I pay for a private appointment? I now have a scan at the end of June to look forward to!! Please advise me x

paddington21 · 23/05/2009 10:55

Hello everyone am back from my break in cornwall- was lovely- had a bit of an emotional day yesterday just full of frustration and sick of seeing pregnant women everywhere i go! I know that is silly but when your having a bad day it just doesnt help!
How is everyone doing? have i missed anything?
Had really odd month on clomid this time goodness knows whats going on.

Have a lovely BH all

dust and hope x x x

Clure · 22/05/2009 23:09

Hi awen know how you feel! Its tedious and for most of the time I bumble along because thats my nature but then the realisation of time ticking will suddenly dawn on me and it'll do my head in for a bit, then I'm ok. Did you have any side effects with provera? Are you getting any "premenstrual" indications? After taking the provera my (sorry about the next bit tmi alert) prolapse feels worse. I know thats hormonally related. Maybe AF could arrive??! Hopefully it will for you too - and soon! x
