Right here we go again!

So far we have been lucky on this thread so lets stick together for all you oldies! until we all get our precious babies.

Here's to the next chapter in our special journey, onwards and upwards

Neeko · 15/04/2009 16:10

Yesterday afternoon (when I was busy) this thread went mad and it took me ages and lots of Emmsy homework to catch up. Today when DD is napping there's no one here. have you all gone somewhere without me??

mermaidspurse · 15/04/2009 15:41

lion and fidget thats brightened up a rainy day. They sound like they are really looking after you, fab. Rest lots.x I can go out without worrying now.

Neeko · 15/04/2009 15:41

Lion so pleased it went well and love the name Fidget. Very cute. It sounds like you've been very brave so gold star to you and to DH for the tea, lunch and generally looking after you. Here you were hoping that you'd never have another 2ww again and you do, but for totally different reasons! We'll be here to hold your hand.

ScorpiowithabigS · 15/04/2009 15:35

Lionstar - loving your description of Fidget Rest up plenty and love to you xx

LionstarBigPants · 15/04/2009 15:34

Well, were back. It all went as well as could be expected, the consultant was lovely - very reassuring and she even went as far as transferring me to her clinic for any further care that might be needed. We had a scan first which was actually really nice and helped put me at ease. Baby was jumping around all over - both scans it has been mentioned what a wriggler this one is, so we have duly christened it 'Fidget'. The consultant took lots of time to point out all the bits and pieces, we watched the baby scratching its cheek, kicking its feet vigorously and generally trying to avoid the probe . We were also told my placenta is a bit low, but will 'probably' move up as the womb grows.

The actual amnio wasn't very painful and only took a couple of minutes. I was a bit teary but was able to watch the screen and see it was all done carefully and well away from the baby. I have to rest up for the next 24 hours, so DP has been great and has installed me on the sofa with laptop, endless tea and made a yummy lunch. I am a bit achey around the bump which they did tell me to expect. No cramps or bleeding though, which would be very scary.

Unfortunately we have a 2 week wait for results, which is a bit stressful. However to be honest I'm feeling more upbeat now that the procedure is over and am more able to look on the positive side. The baby is kicking and wriggling - I can even feel it with my hand through the tummy and that is doing a lot towards making me feel happier and developing a bond.

DD who is only just 2 is very into the whole baby idea now. Quite unprompted this morning she said 'we have to get a new car for the baby' and also a 'new chair' and a 'new bed next to my bed' . She also said 'baby is growing, will come out later to play' - think I'll have to manage expectations somewhat! Still it's all starting to feel that this could become a reality, it's all been a bit tense and abstract until now.

Anyway I'll stop waffling. Thanks for all your kind thoughts recently, and I did really feel your support whilst I was lying there in the room, you are a great bunch and deserve your own happy outcomes, and I'm so sure they are there for each and every one of you .

mermaidspurse · 15/04/2009 15:28

zen like would be good with big hairy cankles

bluesatinsash · 15/04/2009 15:09

mermaid sorry you're having a 'one of those days' days... and apologies I forgot you had your first Acup. sesh today. You will be absolutely fine, just relax and clear your mind. I felt so zen like after my first one, really peaceful... Hope they have studry needles for the old cankle area , seriously it doesn't hurt one bit and I'm a big jessie when it comes to needles.

Hey Vjay - your poor DS getting all stressed wee soul. Really really hope you get somewhere with the funding. Falkirk is about 300 miles from Inverness, half way point is probably Perth area but I am rubbish with geography! We may be up your way later summer as we have relatives in Elgin..

Neeko · 15/04/2009 15:01

Blue Went to the Safari park on Sunday along with half of Scotland! Wouldn't it be dead funny to bump into someone from this thread really randomly? Would you answer if someone shouted Bluesatinsash at you? I should really look into putting my profile and picture on for that very slightly unlikely reason.I'm in sunny Prestwick by the sea - though it's not very sunny today.

Neeko · 15/04/2009 14:56

Ok I'm a sucker for flattery. Going back to work on Monday though so may have to relinquish this position!

Lol mermaid they do drop eventually

mermaidspurse · 15/04/2009 13:45

yes I did wonder that vjay sweetie...at least our pennies usually drop eventually!

mermaidspurse · 15/04/2009 13:43

vjay I am guessing the policy is different in Scotland with statements, funding etc? that is the bloody hardest thing seeing them struggle.
I was always told to smell things like lavender as an association with stuff for revision. But it ended up being ciggies, strong coffee and mint aeros! never helped!

jools I am holding your hand (virtually) as you knicker check, feeling sick is so good so you had better give yourself a midweek star.

neeko can you be our thread updater? you are just brill at it.x

not much sanity down here at mermaid HQ today, just one of those days, you know, and scared of this afternoons needles - what was I thinking

VJaybigpants · 15/04/2009 13:32

Just re-read my post, that probably didn't help with my low mood last week cos that was when we found out about the lack of funding....aaahhhh the penny drops, it does take a while sometimes

VJaybigpants · 15/04/2009 13:30

Afternoon y'all,
I've spent a good morning studying, just hope it sinks in and stays there

lion hope all is going well today for you, when do you find out the results?

blue I bet you are still smiling, it's hard not to how far from Inverness are you, just to guage a half way point?

jools hope you are staying awake at work

barbie hope you are having a lovely girlie day.

neeko, that was a good post, you remembered everything, I'm so crap at that at the mo.

Well I'm frustrated at the mo as can't seem to get the funding for ds at school. I have a meeting with the head next week to hopefully make sure it's all in place for when he goes into P2. I feel so sorry for him cos he's so stressed and he's only 6, poor wee mite. But we will get there, positivity is key xxx

Joolsiam · 15/04/2009 12:53

Barbie - like your Facebook response. I remember very well how exhausted you were over Christmas, so glad you said something.

Am in Bridgend on business today and in a hotel overnight. Absolutely shattered as a storm woke me up at 4am and I couldn't get back to sleep

Off for a 4 hr workshop (snore) in a mo and no internet at the hotel so I'll just keep tabs on you all on my phone

Very vague nausea today and period pains. Had a major panic just now because I thought I had brown spotting but I think it is just the lighting / cheap loo roll at work - phew !

Mermaid - I am absolutely NOT leaving you ever - you are the voice of sanity and reason and always cheer me up

bluesatinsash · 15/04/2009 12:19

Neeko - I salute your dedication to your emmsy's homework and subsequent lengthy post!! Keep going with the non symptom spotting . You weren't at the safari Park on Monday were you?? We tried to go to the farm beside it but it doesn't open until May as we'd sat snarled in traffic for bloody ages. Where about in Scotland are you? (I'm a Falkirk bairn ).

barbie well done you for posting on FB. Hope your having a lovely day at the beach with your new girlie friends .

littlebell - sorry AF got you, hope you had a good night in the pub.

Hey anniecam - hope you've caught up with the posts by now

Well back at work today hugging my little secret . I actually have a meeting in the maternity unit this afternoon with the Head of Midwifery (HR work related I hastily add!!). Good sign I hope, maybe some sticky bean dust will rub off on me.

to all xx

Neeko · 15/04/2009 09:33

Oh and meant to say. I am definitely not symptom spotting. I think because I haven't had a period since MC, I can't allow myself to believe it could be true. We did a damn good try with BDing 4 times in 5 days though so if there truly is a chance... I'll keep you all posted.

Neeko · 15/04/2009 09:30

Ok have just done my emmsy homework and I'm attempting to reply. This is in no particular order and please don't be offended if I've missed you out.
LBM So sorry to hear about AF . Hope you're feeling ok and eating lots of chocolate for the good hormones.
Blue Hope your good news is sinking in! I forbid you to knicker check - pee with your eyes closed if you have to. That goes for Mollie and Jools too. Hope you're all feeling ok and looking after those tiny beans.
Gracie at abandoned baby -you'd have to be feeling pretty desperate to do that. Well done to you for using MC to help others. Shine your halo please!!
Mermaid Book at bedtime??! You sound like my kind of girl! Well done for the straight talking yesterday (and all the other girls who did it too)Not an easy situation...
Kate Glad the fitting went well. I'm v excited for you about the wedding. Mine was almost 7 years ago and was one of the best days of my life.
4ever No BDing? I think you'll need to decorate another room Glad you are feeling like you again. Sending you positive thoughts that it will all go your way.
Bakingqueen We're all addicts here! hope you're feeling better today. It's a real bitch when the black hole grabs at you again.
Barbie at girl from your old work. what a scheming ! Glad to hear you're out and about today. Hope the tan is coming on a treat. Won't be long before you'll be wearing a big maternity tankini!!
MM Hi. Nice to "meet" you. You must be a true emmsy judging by the welcome you got + you live near me!
Welcome to monkeysbum too. Love the name!
Sabs Hope you're feeling ok about work. You sound like a strong person and I'm sure you'll deal with it in the right way. We went to Blair Drummond Safari Park near Stirling and it was ace. Lions right in front of the car! Why so down on grapefruit juice? I love it - does that mean I'm not a true Emmsy?
MLS How's the symptom spotting going? Do I need to confiscate your hpts?
VJay happy 21 weeks!!!! So good to hear news like that.
Lion How did it go?
Hi to Babyinacorner anniecam doozer and anyone else I've missed.

Kay If you're still reading... I'm sorry for what you've been through. That's hard to cope with at any age and you sound lost and lonely. I have to echo what the girls said yesterday: Live a little and enjoy some time with your partner. It will happen soon enough. We all have the experience of having been 16 and aren't being patronising. I think a new thread sound like a good idea. Good luck finding happiness.

Phew! What a post!

mermaidspurse · 15/04/2009 08:55

lion thinking of you today.x

monkey I remember you from sept threads, seems an age ago. I will keep a bit of me crossed for you.

doozer hello lovely lady

littlebell for you, it does do your head in. Next month I am going to drink gallons of water.

blue hope you are still grinning. I have my appointment with the accupuncturist today

barbie glad you are meeting people, relaxing and switching off a bit, sounds like a lovely day. It is raining a lot here so enjoy.

4ever think the consultant is having an endless round of golf. hope the blood giving goes ok.

mollie a big step for mollie

right off to do some work. off to do some work, close down computer, must do some work...

barbie1 · 15/04/2009 04:45

monkey im glad you are back, i was wondering where you got to the other day, i was also thinking about mm who thankfully is also back and vm i hope she is ok whatever and where ever she may be

lion i have already said this but the best of luck for today, thinking of you

littlebellsmum ah sucks, bloody af! positive thoughts...one month closer to your baby now, and you can drink for the next two weeks, and have sex because you feel like it and not have to do it!

jools i used to work in a spa set within a gym and i did so many classes, if i didnt have clients i used to just go on the treadmill and run for half an hour and then do a class after work, its addictive!...your gym should put together a time table of suitables classes for you because your needs will change throughout your pregnancy

mollie well done for booking your appointment, all these smalll steps leads you to the bigger picture (the one where you look drained but smiling holding your precious baby in the hospital!) so pleased you are sounding happier

mm i hope the work situation sorts itself out soon for you, im glad you are just going with the flow and what will be will be....hopefully a bfp will be very soon

blue i did send the girl in question, somewhere along the lines of 'wow, congratulations you must be the most fertile person i have ever met! , i take it that the second mc wasnt what you expected and that the pergnancy did carry on, hope you feel better about this now and that its sunk it because i know the state you were in at the time. I guess you didnt tell me for fear of upsetting me, not upset at all just knackered from all of the extra shifts we had to pick up the week i was meant to be leaving work in order for you to recover but you were in fact still pregnant!!! ha ha take care"
Cheeky i know but hey, i was pissed off and over worked..all while trying to finish the house, go home for xmas and relocate here

neeko any symptoms yet???

kate glad the dress fitting went ok, i lived on slush puppies for the weeks leading to the wedding, looked great until i woke up with first af since having coil taken out and stomach bloated like mad! all those sit ups went to waste......

Im going to forget job hunting just for the day and spend some time with 2 girls i have met, we are planning a day at jumeriah beach park for sunbathing and gossip.....no baby talk....relaxing..(me peering behind my sunglasses at peoples bumps in their bikinis.....ice cream....
you get the picture, back later....have a good day everyone x

OP posts:
littlebellsmum · 14/04/2009 23:24

Blue - congratulations

And as for me - it's really good job I wasn't symptom spoting as I'be be really XXXsed off now as AF arrived........

Non Symptom spotting does your head in ( as does going to the pub -sorry for crap spelling!)
Evening everyone!

bluesatinsash · 14/04/2009 21:46

Lionstar - hope all goes well tomorrow, you heed your DP's wise words...

Mollie - had a wee at you hyperventilating getting your GP appointment. One day at a time my lovely and it will be here before you know it.

barbie - did you say anything on that girl's fb page? I would be flaming too - grrr.

Jools - I made it to spin tonight but didn't do any weights or sit ups afterwards. My plan is to still go twice a week although with DS I was so sick from 6 weeks onwards I didn't go for ages then joined the 'fat, fifty and fab' aqua aerobics - out with the cycling shorts, in with the black maternity swimming cossie . Keep going but listen to your body too OK?

MLS - glad your DH rose to the ocassion and you're on the 2ww - yay!

MM - again lovely to have you back .

Monkeybum - we crossed paths on a thread a
couple of months back, good luck with ttc#2!

sabs - glad you've taken HR advice, just remember, write everything down..

Vjay - thanks for your lovely words, we can maybe have a Scottish bump meeting one day over the summer?

I really need to get to bed its been a rather exhausting day !

, sticky thoughts and babydust to all xx

anniecam38 · 14/04/2009 21:37

Evening ladies, its just took me ages to catch up on all the news ive missed while ive been at work today. I normally have my notebook and pen with me when i catch up so i can make a note of everyones news, and i havent tonight so will have to make a large post tomorrow .

Huge CONGRATULATIONS to Blue, i am so so happy for you.

Lion-Will be thinking of you tomorrow, big hugs X.

Welcome back mm and Scorpio

Night ladies, see you all tomorrow.

LionstarBigPants · 14/04/2009 21:15

Girls thanks so much for all your thoughts, it means a lot to feel you will all be there in the room with me. I've been trying hard not to think about it, but I'm really nervous now and keep getting all teary. DP has been great and keeps telling me that all we are doing is going along for confirmation that everything is just fine and how great it is we are getting an extra scan. I'm really oping that all the good luck that has been floating around here the last few days will extend to us too.

Which reminds me, CONGRATULATIONS to blue - yet another amazing announcement . It won't be long for everyone else, this is the queen of the conception threads!

Sabs sorry you are having a rough time of it, that's the last thing you need at this stage. Try not to let it get to you too much - just focus on your (not so little) bean.

And Jools please don't overdo it, you sound like Superwoman! Chocolate is good though, it is calling you!!

mm, good to see you back and great news about the nnttc

kate best of luck for the coming weeks

Just wanted to wave to Kay too, sorry to hear what you have been through, no matter what age you are the pain of loosing a little one is the same. Hope you haven't felt isolated on this thread, there is an age gap though maybe we all need to work on overcoming that.

Waves to everyone else who I might have missed, and all the new faces

Joolsiam · 14/04/2009 21:10

Hehe - Monkey - I am trying to be as fit as some of the other girls who go to the gym classes, but have a long way to go I usually go 5 days per week - on 4 of those days, I do two classes back to back, so am there for either 1.5 or 2 hours. On the Wed, I just do one spinning class for an hour.

Have just worked out that I've done 19 classes in the last 11 days, as there were extra ones on at Easter Hopefully it will all stand me in good stead for this pregnancy and maybe the weight loss will continue (slowly) if I keep exercising ...
