Totally understand your decision, but if your nightmares and worries DO get worse, you may want to reconsider if you can. But see how you go for now. Having been there, I know exactly how you feel...

Just to say thanks for the messages re private scans. We have decided to wait until 27th. Just praying its going to be good news but feeling less and less positive as each day goes by. Had my first nightmare about it all the other night and have never been so relieved to wake up and find that i am still pregnant! Only 3 weeks and 1 day to go....

Hope you're all well. Just popped on to say hello and to check whether we've had our first baby yet!!!!

Flirty, Hever and Saz hope you're all well and will let us know when your little ones arrive!

We've just come back from a week in Pembrokeshire, it was bliss!

Can't believe I'll be 16 weeks tomorrow and am almost into maternity clothes now! Got a busy couple of weeks with my Downs screening this week, first community midwife appointment the following week and then my 20 week scan the first week of June.

Fairy I hope you're doing OK. I would definitely recommend an early private scan if you can find somewhere that does them local to you. We paid £100 and had the scan at 9 weeks. It was such a relief to be told (and to see) that the baby was OK and the sonographer could detect a strong heartbeat. I have to say that the early private scan was a far better experience than my first NHS scan at 13 1/2 weeks, which was just very rushed. Let me know if you want any other info.

Dawn and Summer hope you girlies are well. I'm definitely hoping to take up some yoga/aqua natal classes closer to the time. Would like to do them now, but most of the classes seem to be in the day so it won't fit around full time work!

Fairy, if you're really worried, any chance you can pay for a private scan? I know that it's pricey but if you can afford it, it may put your mind at rest. Bubba had an early scan so maybe ask her how much it costs... Sounds good for now though - things seem to be going well!! Sorry about the nausea though - Salt and Vinegar crisps always worked for me!!

So, some news from my end. My little sister had her baby this morning at 36+3!! Even though he was early, Ewan Lewis weighed in at 7lbs and 8ozs so a very reasonable weight!! There were some complications and he was eventually delivered with forceps with the cord wrapped around his neck. But he's fine now. My sister lost a lot of blood though as he blood doesn't clot so after a 24 hour labour, she's very tired. So we're going to hold off seeing them until tomorrow.

And for the Epidural club (Hever and Summer), my sister had said that she didn't want any pain relief and ended up having an epidural!! Her husband said he would recommend it because she felt so much happier after having it!!

Anyway, just thought I'd let you all know the news. So I'll be visiting my new nephew tomorrow.

Hi everyone, hope you are all making the most of the lovely weather.

Well im still hanging in there and more importantly little pip seems to be too. Yesterday as the day that last time i first had the spotting. Nothing so far this time. Nausea has been awful lately but i am certainly not complaining. I have my first midwife appointment on the 11th May. Didn't get to see her last time. I also have my first scan date. I'm a bit disappointed though. My GP said i would have an early scan at about 8 weeks. I phoned the midwife about this and she said that if i do that then i won't get a 12 week one. So i'm sticking wit the date i've been given which is the 27th. I am absolutely terrified that i will go all that time and then discover theres a problem. The scan is the day before i acually miscarried last time but i had some bleeding before then. The scan will also be the week before my birthday and we are planning to have a bit of a bash on the Saturday (the scan is on Wed). Trying not to let it all stress me out too much.

My mum said - I cant tell you much about child birth either time- They woke me up when the hairdresser came round!! Best thing ever.(my sister and I were both C sections under GA = emergency with my sister, planned with me)

Oh I dont think that is too common! and Dawn in your case if they induce early I am sure they wont start you unless the epi is possible!

I do feel that the midwives and other "Drug free" mums are agains the whole epidural thing. Actually the anaesthetist did say that they have a long running issue with the midwives as she thinks they leave it much later than necessary so it is best to be firm! She also said they make it their busness to be there within 30 mins of a request and sometimes it can take up to an hour it doesnt sound like it ever takes longer than that to sort out!!! So if the midwives are messing you around you should know.

I dont know why we have to defend ourselves - apparently nearly half of first time mums end up with an epi so people like us are just taking the decision early and making it easier on both ourselves and the medical staff!

Hever, just been back onto that epidural thread and seen the post from Starlight. Bit worried about that - my MW never suggested at all that I might not be able to have the epidural because the hospital might be too busy and that they limit the number of women on the ward that can have them!!

Definitely going to ask that question when I have my pre-birth discussion at home the day after my 36 week scan with my MW!!

Don't worry too much about LO not being engaged. Someone on my other regular thread said that their LO was only 2/5 engaged when she went into labour and it was a quick labour aswell - so I don't know that it makes too much difference... Are you having a She then? I thought you hadn't found out or am I losing my mind? (probably)

I'm only 34 weeks so I hope that I don't beat you!!

Noticed that you'd posted on that "epidural" thread (as have I), but do you ever feel that you're constantly defending your decision to have one? I do!!

Oh Dawn I dont blame you for "Politely" telling her to stay away. I mean it will only be a week or so then you can be sure she is not incubating anything. You are not being overly cautious as there has been direct contact.

well at 36 weeks the midwife said I was 2/5ths engaged, yesterday at 39+4 guess what 2/5ths engaged!!!! she has not moved down AT all in 3 weeks (She is still moving around in there though so I know she is fine.)

No twinges and it looks like I am in for a long wait. Dawn how long is it for you now? you might beat me to it!! anyone heard from Flirty?

Gosh Hever, how are you feeling hun?! Due on Saturday aren't you? Any twinges or does it feel like Baby Hever is wanting to stay put?

It's miserable here today too although it's looking great for the Summer according to the Met Office forecast. Lovely for those of us on Mat Leave!!

Only downside will be being surrounded by loads of families with children in our new street who will be out in their gardens disturbing our peace. Oh well, I expect Jelly will cry and disturb theirs too so I can't really complain... At least I'll get most of June and July while they're still at school to enjoy the sun!!

So, you've both probably heard about the 12 year old in Torbay with Swine Flu. Well it's about 5 miles from here and my SIL, one of our bridesmaids is at 6th Form at Paignton Community College and was giving that girl 1-2-1 teaching assistance last Friday!! So she has had to have the anti-viral drugs. We've told her (politely) to stay away from us for a while. We're certainly not going to risk Jelly's health! The little girl appears to be doing well though and is responding to the drugs and only has mild symptoms. So I'm sure SIL will be fine aswell...

Had another appointment at the GD clinic today. They were still pleased with my bloods and said that assuming everything is well at my 36 week scan, they may let me go beyond 39 weeks (although not beyond 40) before inducing, so that will be good. But another two hour session for just 10 minute meeting, it's so frustrating!!

Anyway, hope you are both well and big waves to any of the other ladies who are lurking!!
