Hi again and thanks bunny2 i am going to make an apointment for my blood test tomorrow day 21 of my cycle will fall on a saturday im not sure whether it would be better to have the test the day before or wait till the monday.Thought about trying those ovulation tests but then again wouldnt have a clue when to start cos im so irregular.Being tested for pcos as well as i have also had unexplained weight gain and i dont think i eat loads and i get regular excersize i bike to pick my son up from school.Think i need a new body this one is broken lol

bunny2 · 25/06/2003 16:57

Hi Lexy75, welcome to the thread. I, like you, have been plagued by very irregular cycles which, according to my fertility consultant, is a good indication that I am not ovulating. This may not be the case for you but I presume that is what the blood test is for. I think, on a regular monthly cycle, day 21 is a good day to test to establish whether or not you have ovulated in the previous week (assuming on a normal cycle ovulation falls around the 14th day). The problem with an irregular cycle is that one never knows when to test for this. I cant really offer any good advice but you will find lots of help here, and lots of sympathy.

Is weight gain inevitable with Clomid, according to my mother it is.

Lexy75 · 25/06/2003 16:18

Hi all this is my first time on here.Gald to have found some people on here that no what im going through.Hope that doesnt sound horrible i didnt mean it that way.Anyway i came off the pill a year ago now and im having very irregular cycles longest one so far has been 42 days.Went to my gp and mentioned it to her she said it was just pill infertilty and to give it time.I went back last month and she has told me to have a blood test done on day 21 of my cycle.I got my period earlier this month it was 34 days this time. Not sure if i should have the test done on day 21 now cos i came on earlier.Or is it normal to have it done on that day? Any advice would be great.I already have an 8 year old son would have thought i would be pregnant by now Find it so hard not to get my hopes up every month and then when i do come on i get very down. There also seems to be lots of pregnant women and babies everywhere.

Hi Dot1. Thanks for getting back to me. Sorry you're a bit down at the moment, hope you feel better soon. I'll pass the Persona on to someone else then. Good luck with ttc - really hope it works out for everyone on this thread.

bunny2 · 25/06/2003 08:57

Day 5 of clomid and the side effects seem to have passed .. except for one that is. I cant stop eating chocolate, it's more than desire and greed (my usual reasons), this is more like a physical need. And, weirdly, other food makes me feel sick. So I am living on 4 chocolate bars a day and little else, great pre-conception diet eh? (but I am taking my folic acid).

Hi all, hope you're all keeping well! I am sorry there is no positive news this week, sibble, maybe it's your turn then?? Well this is it fr me now. Period over and we'll start trying again from the weekend. It feel sweird though planning to do it - I have never done that before. I hope we can try and be spontaneous. Maybe a bottle of bubbly will help especially as we are going to a wedding at the weekend!
Any tips here girls??
Good luck all for your next cycles!!
LOL xxx

caz61 · 25/06/2003 01:16

Bayleaf- So sorry to hear your news. You are an incredible inspiration - hearing you saying how you focus on the good things in life is so uplifting. I am trying to do the same and it does help if you can become un-all-consuming(is this really english?) on the subject. You keep going girl - someone with such spirit should have what they desire.

Ghosty - thanks for your advice re diet. I have been off most caffeine and gluten now for about two weeks and I do feel better... only trouble is I have been staying with family and my alcohol intake has probably tripled!. Also my partner is 100 miles away so unless he has really powerful airborne sperm - it ain't gonna happen this month... watch this space!!

Good luck to all who have their fingers crossed this month!! (Sorry.. as you may have guessed - just slightly the worse for wear!)

bayleaf · 24/06/2003 19:49

Sorry to hear it's going a bit pear shaped for you dot - we old stagers don't seem to be getting our fair share of luck at the moment do we?
Fingers crossed that it's all very simple and is sorted out PDQ.

Tillysmummy, I think the 'boom' lasts for just the first month. this happened with two friends of mine too. immediately. start trying from day one of coming off the pill

dot1 · 24/06/2003 16:20

sorry Luchar - I had a few days off work and can only access Mumsnet at work! Please pass it on to someone else - I think I'll just stick to doing my chart at the moment - but thanks anyway!

I'm a bit down at the moment, which is also why I haven't posted. My thyroid's possibly playing up again - just waiting for blood test results - as my GP's discovered I've got an irregular heartbeat which he wants to investigate. It could be that if my thyroid's gone overactive it's affecting my heartbeat, and it'll be easily sorted out by reducing my medication, but I'm worried it'll have implications on ttc.... so I'm desperately trying to get my blood results before the next ttc attempt - in about 10 days time..!

Ho hum. Always something to think about.

Hope everyone's doing OK and there'll be more good news from someone soon.

Tillysmummy · 24/06/2003 13:51

Me !!! Just started. Good luck to you all
I have a question. Had polycystic ovaries a while ago and got pregnant with dd straight after coming off the pill (by accident, we were supposed to be using contraception for 3 months). My doctor told me to do the same again this time to get pregnant, start trying straight after coming off the pill because your fertility is increased apparently. Has anyone got any idea how long this fertility boom lasts ? Can't face having to have sex every night indefinitely

sibble · 24/06/2003 00:22

Hi Moosh
Fingers crossed for you (and everybody else). Know where you are coming from with PMT/time coming up to your period. Am about a week behind you and am starting to count the days already. Lost the plot a bit last month (serious PMT). Have 1 pg test sitting in cupboard waiting with fingers crossed.
Good luck with the exams and keep us posted on both.

Egypt · 23/06/2003 21:18

no hols destination planned yet, will go last minute if can!

Egypt · 23/06/2003 21:12

Hi Bunny
my consultant hasnt gone into the details of it all yet. i am to go back in 3 weeks and get myblood test results to see whats going on with me when at the beginning of a cycle. he has the ones from the end and he says that the high LH hormone seems to suggest that i didnt ovulate. this really annoys me as i do ovulation tests and i do get a positive at about 15-19 days (today in fact ) but it stays positive for the rest of the cycle which is false. anyway, he says that i will need help and that when i go back in 3 weeks we can sort out treatment. i do hope that means that day. how much is your treatment costing? i take it you are going private? i will prob continue privately, unless the cost is extortionate.
i hope that you are feeling better soon. does the clomid mean that you expected to have a period on time next month(if you aren't pregnant?)

bayleaf · 23/06/2003 21:03

Bunny when I was on Clomid I didn't have scans at 50 - just when I was on 100.
Sorry you're having such horrid side effects

bunny2 · 23/06/2003 19:44

Bayleaf and Jane, best of luck to you. I really hope you both succeed next month.

bunny2 · 23/06/2003 19:44

Bayleaf and Jane, best of luck to you. I really hope you both succeed next month.

bunny2 · 23/06/2003 19:43

Hi Egypt, I've been taking Clomid for 3 days now and am experiencing some rotten side-effects - dizziness, headaches mainly. I have 2 more days to go then I will hopefully ovulate in about a week. I am not having scans at the moment, just a blood test on day 21 which will establish whether or not I did ovulate. If I didnt, then the dose will be upped to 100 mg a day (I am currently on 50). I dont know if scans are necessary, my consulatant thought not (kept the cost down!) but I have done some Google searches on Clomid and some sites do recommend scans. What does your sonsulatant say? And where are you off on holiday?

Egypt · 23/06/2003 19:04

How is the clomid going, Bunny2? How often do you have to have scans during the cycle? Want to know as should start in about 3 weeks all being well and want to know if it means we cant go on hols!!

LucieB · 23/06/2003 10:20

Jane and Bayleaf - have everything crossed for you both for next month Good luck everyone else too....

elliott · 23/06/2003 09:34

luchar think she might be on holiday.

luchar · 23/06/2003 09:07

Dot1 are you still around? Can you email me about the Persona please - I have had an email from someone else who wants it and need to know if you still do. I am holding onto it for you so please get in touch! Hope you are OK - you've not posted for ages. Luchar.

moosh · 23/06/2003 08:25

Thanks Jane 101 and hewlettsdaughter feel a little better this morning. Off to work now so at least it will take my mind off the waiting. Will post this thread at the end of the week to let you know if I have my period or not. Is looking likely that it may come early though because of the extra stressful feelings I have this month.

Jane101 · 22/06/2003 15:23

moosh, I'm sorry you're feeling so rotten - but no wonder, with all that to contend with. The waiting's horrible isn't it? I find it almost a relief once I know for definite, even if it isn't good news.

Thanks for thinking of me bayleaf. I've pretty much got over the disappointment for this month - as you say, all we can do is look forward. We've had 3 good goes at iui now, and I've promised myself at least another 3, so I'm not desperate and feeling like it's our last chance yet.

hewlettsdaughter · 22/06/2003 13:19

Hi moosh, sorry you're feeling bad. Know what you mean about that time until your period taking forever... I hope your symptoms are pregnancy ones rather than PMT! Your son and mine are around the same age - mine will be 4 in August. Here's hoping the next week goes quickly for you
