Hi, i'm new to mumsnet. I don't have children - yet, I am ttc via a fertility clinic. Going to be having IUI plus medication to boost fertility etc. Would be glad to hear from others using clinics/IUI etc as it's all a bit of a minefield.
Thanks !

sgibbo I know exactly what you mean - I keep hoping that there's a small chance that the tests were wrong, but it is sinking in.
Sorry to hear your DH will be away during critical days over the next couple of months. I wonder if you will feel like stopping by MN as often when he's gone. I'm not sure if I would or not. It's been great to meet you on here, it really has helped to vent and share excitement and disappointments. Plus I don't overwhelm DH with all of it.

making ooooohhh I love those Day 9-10 scans... you get to see what follicles are developing. Best of luck!

makingafamily · 10/04/2009 22:32

sgibbo i am having a day 9 scan to see how my eggs are doing. Good luck for your BFP

Kay4MattTTC · 10/04/2009 22:16

hey sgibbo thankQ.
i use a FC but things are a bit disasteras on that .
what about you?
whats your story?

sgibbo · 10/04/2009 21:26

hi Makingafamily i am exactly the same as islegrin 14 dp IUI, tomorrow is D day for me either AF will show or she won't, although i've had two BFN still hoping they were wrong What scan are you having????

Islegrin had a busy day today shopping and over in laws for dinner, I told DH that my test last night was BFN think that it has sunk in now, I know that having you to talk to has made it easier for me to go through this knowing that i can talk to someone that completely understands, THANK YOU for all your support They are keeping the meds the same for another four months but we have decided to take a couple of months of the meds because DH will be away at the cruical time and we don't want to waste the chance.

It's Easter holidays so long weekend and it's raining here too! But i'd know i'd rather be in Hawaii even when it's raining!!!

Kay4MattTTC welcome to the thread, i know that a lot of the people on the January bus are trying it naturally but are using OPKs to make sure the bd at the right time,

I think we'll have to start a cycle list soon!

Kay4MattTTC · 10/04/2009 18:07

thankQ islegrin and no am going naturally atm.
thinking about going to see docter tho.
also thinking about trying FertileAid. but dont really have the money to get any just yet.

islegrin · 10/04/2009 18:02

Kay Welcome - glad to have you join this thread! Are you going to be taking any fertility support medications or just going naturally? Best of luck bding!

Making - How long until the sticks arrive? I might have to order some, they do get addictive the closer you get to AF.

Lots33 hope you had your test and you're doing well.

Sgibbo Sorry to hear about your BFN! I tested again this morning 14 dp IUI, and a big fat negative, again! :P (it was the second test that hit me the hardest) At least we can go through the mill another time together (I know it's little consolation - sorry) Will you/your consultant change the protocol at all or just try the same thing again?

Oh well, I took today off so I could have fun because I worked both days last weekend. I'm going to have lunch with my DH, and maybe do some shopping. It's rainy so the beach may be out, but it's still a day OFF!

Kay4MattTTC · 10/04/2009 15:45

Afternoon all.
This seems like a nice thread so wondered if i could join in?

Wont beet around the bush me and my DP have been TTC DC1 for about 10month. Been haveing problems with ovulating. . We have a GOF very very regularly, but still no luck. Also, i have been getting very of people around me that are already pg or people who already have a DC, but oh well. I am currently on CD10. So just waiting for ovulatiuon CM if it ever arrives.

makingafamily · 10/04/2009 13:58

Hi ladies

I've ordered loads of cheapo tests off ebay. But then i love peeing on sticks!!!

sgibbo when was your IUI? Sorry about your BFN but it may be too early

islegrin let me know how you get on. Fingers crossed for your BFP

Well, i've got my first scan on monday. DP is working so my mums coming with me (how sad am i )

sgibbo · 10/04/2009 10:12

i tested last night and it was BFN, don't feel like AF is coming though like i normally do but will have to wait and see if she shows up tomorrow

islegrin · 10/04/2009 10:02

sgibbo let me know when you have some results. fingers crossed for a BFP!

islegrin · 09/04/2009 22:57

I vote for Friday morning! How long are you past IUI and Ov? Of course your Friday morning is my Thursday night.

I took another test this morning, didn't tell DH as he was long gone before I woke. If it wasn't negative, I'd have driven to his work before I showered!!! ha! I can't wait for the POSTITIVE day.

I'm feeling a little sore and weird today, little heartburn - probably that witch on her way. (I mean AF, of course)

sgibbo · 09/04/2009 21:21

islegrin I ordered 20 of the strip type they were really cheap under £4.00 including delivery, normally i pay £5.00 for 2! If they turn out PG then i think i would use the whole lot just double checking that it was correct! lol

I always find it a huge pain buying them at the supermarket or chemist because they always have huge security tags on them that take forever to take off.

DH is out tonight and i've just bought a 2 pack so think i might test this evening or shall i see if i can wait till saturday????

islegrin · 09/04/2009 19:13

sgibbo I know what you mean, I was thinking of ordering these no-frills tests (just tiny little strips) on-line, but they come in packs of 20-100 and I was wondering if that was being pessimistic, because if I get pg, then why do I need all of those tests??? Ha! On the other hand if I had them in the house, I'd be in there all the time POAS!

I think I'm down to my last box of tests now. It's funny because our drugstore now has to unlock a glass cabinet and they escort you to the checkout... for all things condoms, lube, pg tests - they just changed the policy, I guess because they were recently bought by another chain? Anyway, it's strange. I think it would be a deterent to teens wanting condoms though. I remember my first pack I bought, it was tough enough to face the cashier!

sgibbo · 09/04/2009 19:03

islegrin sounds great where you are, let me know if you test tomorrow!?!??!

I think the only good thing about the arrival of AF is knowing you don't have to wait any longer and you can start trying again! lol

I've ordered some pg tests from ebay so have to wait for them the arrive, the only thing stopping me from testing is i don't have any in the house

islegrin · 09/04/2009 18:57

Sorry meant 33 not 22!

islegrin · 09/04/2009 18:56

Lots22 today was supposed to be the day for your hycosy - sorry, is that the same as HSG? no? Anyway, I hope AF gave up and went home so you could have the test! Was your consultant worried at all about such a long AF?

Yeppers - Tuesday on the way home from work, I drove right through the middle of a very bright rainbow, sunny and rainy at the same time. It was magnificent!

I thought the time stamp may give me away, it's not really a secret - I just didn't want to give my whole life story on the first post.

My doc originally told me to test on Friday, which would be 14 dp IUI. So I guess that's the final test (hee hee - sounds like school). The nice thing is that as soon as af shows up, we can start again. Every time gets to be a better chance. She talked to us about changing the protocol, a new drug instead of Clomid, but I can't remember the name. It doesn't have the side effect of reducing the lining that clomid does, but you can't take it if there is any chance you are pg.

sgibbo · 09/04/2009 10:27

Lots33 are you able to have your HSG today? if so good luck

Makingafamily how are you getting on? how's is your med free cycle going?

sgibbo · 09/04/2009 10:25

OMG - Hawaii i'm stuck in the UK know where i'd rather be!!!!lol I did wonder the other day why your post was at 4:20am now i know it's because of the time difference!

I'm going to try and hold out until Saturday if AF hasn't shown her ugly face! xxxx Let me now how you get on on Friday morning

islegrin · 09/04/2009 05:34

Ahem- um, Sgibbo I guess it's time to let you in on my secret... I live in Hawaii. So where I bought the tests probably won't help you.

I'm going to test again on Friday morning, just in case - and I'm very optimistic for you! I went and looked at the pregnancy forum for December babies... and I can't wait to join them (or any other month)!

sgibbo · 08/04/2009 22:16

Hi Islegrin, where did you get your tests from? i'll get some tomorrow and we can console each other tomorrow! I'm still thinking it's too early for the levels to give a BFP and am being very optomisitc for both of us xxxx

islegrin · 08/04/2009 18:07

Another BFN - I think I'm starting to believe it.

islegrin · 08/04/2009 04:20

10 day cycle - wow, hope AF gives you a break so you can get on with your hycosy please keep us posted.

I bought 5 tests today, so I'm set for this month and next.

lots33 · 07/04/2009 20:31

Thanks for all your messages. And good luck to both of islegrin and sgibbo, keeping everything crossed - let us all know!

Making a family (great name!) you are two months ahead of me I am very excited for all of you.

I am due to have the hycosy on thursday....but bizarely my period is not stopping (this is unheard of!) on day 10 of my cycle at the moment! So unless it stops by thursday I won't be able to have it..fingers crossed cos I am desparate to move on with this.

By the way, is there a dictionary for all of the abbreviations everyone uses?

sgibbo · 07/04/2009 19:19

I'm all for testing! I was thinking about getting some cheap ones, i've read on other links that the ones in the pound shop are acurate so was thinking of getting some of them!

symptom spotting all the time! lol according to my symptoms i must be having triplets!!! lol

I prefer knowing either way so that i avoid disappointment sooner and can have a glass bottle of wine!

islegrin · 07/04/2009 18:40

Agreed - I'm amazed at how similar out situations are and chatting here has saved DH fom an overload of my excitement.

I'm not sure why so many people are against testing - what's the worst that can happen? The test is a BFN and we get disappointed??? or is it really the money they are worried about?

After 4 years of trying and testing, I'm used to the BFN. Testing just gives me something to do, since I can't monitor it any other way - except ss which is not an exact science but if you want to wait, I'll support that.

Any symptom spotting?
