Hi, i'm new to mumsnet. I don't have children - yet, I am ttc via a fertility clinic. Going to be having IUI plus medication to boost fertility etc. Would be glad to hear from others using clinics/IUI etc as it's all a bit of a minefield.
Thanks !

Like an idiot I tested this morning: negative - but it's way too early! I'm officially to test on Friday because that's 15dp IUI, but only CD27. So I think Friday, Saturday or Sunday would be good to test.

I know what you mean, DH and I designed the new wall unit for the family room, and the bathroom renovation. We're still saving up money to do the work, so no construction has started yet, but it is a nice distraction. Yesterday I finally counted up the cd and I was surprised.

I got sucked into LondonLottie's good news and all the excitment of a BFP, and tested early, because we were both due to test on Friday. She had 2 blast transfered in IVF, so her chances were about 60% and mine were only 20%. I'm so happy for her! She's been trying for a very long time.

sgibbo · 05/05/2009 14:26

Islegrin actually just realised we are on CD24 are you getting anxious about testing???? i'm just wondering what day to test on????

sgibbo · 05/05/2009 09:22

Hey Islegrin sorry been meaning to get on here but ever time i have 5 minutes DH comes up with more DIY for us to do!

I haven't ventured onto any of the pg threads, don't know why but just feel like i don't want to until i get BFP.

I know what you mean yesterday i had a twinge and instantly thought pg then second thought was i've eaten too much!

You must be looking forward to your vacation??? That would be really great to find out your pg whilst visiting your family.

This cycle i have absolutely no idea now what CD we're on! i stopped counting after DH came home from his trip so i have no idea when AF should be appearing or when to test?!?!?!?!?

islegrin · 05/05/2009 05:01

sgibbo wondering how and what you are doing... ?

islegrin · 02/05/2009 02:02

I hope we get our BFP's around the same time... have you ventured into the pg threads? I haven't really - don't really know what to expect, but I'm sure it will be a load of excitement and worries all to its own!

I've got a pain that feels like it's coming from my left ovary and shooting into my back. It's a little more than a twinge, but if I wasn't ttc, I'd think I sat wrong or something. It's probably nothing. I just keep trying to remind myself to treat this next week like any other. Hoping to make it go faster.

Not a terribly exciting trip, but it is two weeks of vacation and one week at at conference! Going to the mainland US. There is part of me that really wants to be pg when I go since I'll see my familiy and friends while I'm there. DH is staying in sunny Hawaii.

sgibbo · 02/05/2009 00:33

I know the feeling on Monday had a pain in one of my breasts and i thought this could be a pg symptom then realised i had my arms crossed and i was possibly pushing too hard on my breast! lol

being away could make all the difference! away from home no worries just relaxing - sounds like the perfect time/place!!!! Are you going anywhere nice?

To be fair to him he can be extremely supportive and then other times he can be a complete ar*e i think purely from frustration and he doesn't know how to releases it anyother way! I hope so too, one more month off meds and i'm going to keep most things crossed (somethings just can't be if i want DD or DS)! i'm feeling fairly positive i was talking to an extremely supportive friend and was telling her how less stressful it was off meds because i don't have to worry about perfect timing for meds or having to take anything or having any scans.

It's amazing how small changes can make such a big difference. Plus DH going away for a week has probably helped because we missed each other emensely

What symptoms have you been spotting - i'm hoping your dream comes true this month xxxxx

islegrin · 01/05/2009 18:29

Starting to symptom spot again - it's probably nothing but the hormones.

I just realized that I'll be away for 3 weeks of next cycle without DH, so I'll be taking a month off as well.

That's great that your DH is so supportive about going to IVF! I really hope that you and he hit the timing just right and your fun sex will do the trick! CD 14 isn't too late at all, you definitely have a shot at it. How are you holding up?

sgibbo · 30/04/2009 17:05

Hey, it does sound promising if you haven't had those pains before, i had a pain in one of my breats yesterday that i hadn't had before and thought instantly PG but then i thought about it logically and stopped getting my hopes up, even though DH was back for CD 14 i have a feeling it may have been too late

I'm keeping everything crossed for you - it all sounds very positive and with all the graduates about there have got to be a few more!!!

how freaky you can still remember his name!

DH told me that i could start looking into IVF and that he wants to start that if TTC doesn't work in the next couple of months which is quiet exciting - better start saving a bit harder!

islegrin · 28/04/2009 17:38

Things are going well - I guess. I've been having lots of twinges that seem like ovulation pain, alternates sides and has been going on for days. That's unusual for me and I don't know what it could be or if it's bad. Guess I'll just wait and see. I'm trying not to think about babies or being pg - rather I'm looking forward to starting my next cycle in 9 days... seems more calming to think of it that way.

Well... while I'm not consciously (I hate spelling that word - sorry) thinking of having a baby - last night I had a very vivid and realistic dream about having a baby girl. The delivery went very smoothly, beautiful smile on her little face and I got to bathe her and put her down for a nap. We named her (one of the girls names that dh and I discussed over the weekend) and the setting was even in the town we live in - and dh was in the dream too. I woke up at 4am with him, told him all about it and we got to bd again. It was a very happy morning. :O

I don't get too caught up in what dreams mean, or anything. But I had a similar dream when I was in college - about getting married. Both dreams served more as a reassurance that it would happen rather than a forecasting of the future exactly. In that dream I married a man named Dan Applebaum. How funny that I still remember that!

sgibbo · 28/04/2009 17:05

bump

sgibbo · 27/04/2009 13:21

islegrin how are things going??? DH is back now fingers crossed that it's perfect timing!

How's the TWW going? have you found many ways to diistract yourself?

Lot33 have you had your scan yet????

islegrin · 24/04/2009 00:03

On CD10 scan the left/closed side had a follicle at 24mm (which looked HUGE on the screen) and the right/open side had one nearly mature at 14mm. Considering on Cycle 1 that I had no follie on the right side, and in both Cycle 1 & 2 I had thin lining, we may have a shot this time. It's so hard to say when they tell you that you have a 22% chance, I keep reminding myself that it means 78% chance of BFN! At any rate - we are giving it a go tomorrow, then I officially begin the dreaded tww!

I have a great medical team, I'm very thankful. Believe it or not, my gyn even attended our beach wedding!!! (Mainly because the ectopic jolted us into getting married.) He even made one house call to give me an injection back then - he really saved my life. So now I have three docs paying attention to my nether regions 1)gyn 2)fert doc 3)OB - no comment!

sgibbo · 22/04/2009 20:40

Sounds like you have a better system over there - my doc just about recognises me let alone knows my name! Did they say how big your folicles are? i'm keeping everything crossed for you. xxxx

islegrin · 22/04/2009 18:31

Oh- and I also met with an OB doc, since my gyn doesn't deliver babies anymore and he's rather ill tempered (not something I would want to deal with in times of labor) and I met a nice female doc, who has one other dr. in her office and two physicians assistants. In a local hospital on my side of the island that practice "family friendly" medicine. Laid back but thorough. I think it will be a good match if I do finally become pg.

islegrin · 22/04/2009 18:28

Ovidrel shot is tonight! Good news is that doc said the "lining is architecturally perfect" so she's really happy about that. Also told me she's going for quality not quantity of follicles. I'm looking forward to Friday!

Glad to hear that case of wine is slowly disappearing, and that you are enjoying your "time off". When is your DH back from fishing?

Lots33 - any test yet?

sgibbo · 21/04/2009 22:16

islegrin Hey sorry haven't been on for a couple of days - been getting loads done and not been thinking about TTC until i got asked about it this evening at college. only just started on that case of wine tonight so am getting through it very slowly which is not like me at all!

How are the meds going? have you had your ovitrelle yet? How was the scan??????

Lots33 any luck yet??? has the bleeding stopped????

making how are you? whats the latest????

islegrin · 21/04/2009 21:34

lots33 did you finally get your test today? Or is AF still blocking the door?

I had my scan today - one viable follie on right side at 14mm, one on left is bigger at 24mm but blocked tube. Not great news, but we'll give it a go!

lots33 · 19/04/2009 15:16

No still bleeding - very intermittent and sometimes stops for 24 hours but always coming back and enough that they haven't been able to proceed. I have an appointment for tuesday (third time) but not holding out my luck. I think I will have to have a break for a month if it hasn't stopped by then and hope that my cycle will regulate itself. I am trying not to worry but it is difficult after a 23 day bleed and counting!!

Hope you are all relaxed and enjoying this beautiful weahter.

sgibbo you sound so relaxed and like you are having FUN again! I'm so happy for you - LOL >>>a CASE of wine

sgibbo · 18/04/2009 23:55

Islegrin your braver then me! i found that they sting, never had them in the stomach. When do you have the Ovitrelle / scans??????

Today i had the longest layin ever and the rest of the week i have plans with friends for dinner etc and maybe some gardening if the weather stays nice (although will probably rain!) Oh and i have a case of wine to get through!!!!

Making wow that is a long cycle ov at day 26 fingers crossed for monday

Lots33 any update? has the bleeding stopped yet?

islegrin · 18/04/2009 09:04

sgibbo well - I actually did it! I gave myself the shot in the arm, drew it back for the air then injected - by myself! It was a little painful, but more just scary. 1.5" of needle, much bigger than the one they give you for belly injections. (SMALL VICTORY) Anyway, finished the letrizole last night and now just 2 more days of menopur.

What are you going to do for days without DH? freeeeedom...

making here's hoping those follies grow big and strong over the weekend!

makingafamily · 17/04/2009 18:18

sgibbo Everything crossed for you and i've had several cycles where i havent ovulated until day 26?

sgibbo · 17/04/2009 16:20

Islegrin I don't think I could put up with him being grumpy all week because he couldn't go! I'm praying they don't strike tomorrow!

I think i've been lucky with Clomid i don't seem to have had that many side effects (or none that i've really noticed!) Keeping my fingers crossed for you for tuesday xxx

Making You might be a late OV which will mean when you go back on Monday they may be bigger? Will be thinking of yo Monday xxx

makingafamily · 17/04/2009 16:12

Hi Ladies

Really Quick update! Will be back later to catch up on everyones news

Just got back from our 2nd scan on our first cycle of IUI (natural). Had first scan on CD 10 and had 3 follies with the biggest at 10mm and womb lining was 4.8mm went back today at CD 14 and was told i had "multiple" follicles with none of them above 10 mm and womb lining was 5.8mm. I was told previously that i have PCO not not PCOS, was told my FSH and LH were "ok". He wanted me to go back on Wednesday for a scan but has agreed for me to go back on Monday.

I came out in tears as i really thought i'd have a 17/18 mm follie and could have the trigger shot and iui tomorrow. I'm feeling calmer now

D x

islegrin · 17/04/2009 08:08

sgibbo - so I shouldn't wish for a fisherman's strike??? The new meds are definitely different - give me headaches and make me a bit dizzy, but the hot flashes aren't nearly as bad as with Clomid. (TMI alert) and the CM is back already... so I'm happy I switched. The headaches are the most inconvenient part but I can already feel the twinges of growing fols. Scan on Tuesday! Hopefully the lining will be at a typical thickness, and plenty of fols on the RIGHT side.
