Hi, i'm new to mumsnet. I don't have children - yet, I am ttc via a fertility clinic. Going to be having IUI plus medication to boost fertility etc. Would be glad to hear from others using clinics/IUI etc as it's all a bit of a minefield.
Thanks !

I know how you feel we have been med free for a while now and i have been secretly hoping that it would work. I've found it a lot less stressful not counting CD and i couldn't even give you an exact CD for today!

I think that we are going to try our last four rounds of meds then it will be IVF. The only thing is finding a clinic and saving lots of money.

The hardest part for me is that one of my closest friends got married recently and is now TTC1. She has been a real rock for me and although she hasn't fully understood everything i've told her, she does now because she has been reading up on the subject. It's really difficult because that is the main topic of conversation and i want to be really excited and with her but i'm sort of coming to the conclusion that it just isn't going to happen for us.

It's very hard to be positive all the time about it.

Sorry for the rant....

My update is that the witch JUST got me a couple of hours ago!!! Nooooooooo!!! Originally the plan was for one more round of IUI (our 6th) then perhaps one round of IVF (because insurance will cover the first round). But I am so tired of the failure! It feels like we've been trying forever... 4.5 years! I know, you know. I just may have to face the fact and move on without this dream. OHHHH I'm SUPER BUMMED!!! This cycle was straight injections for 12 days at 150iu.

bummed bummed bummed!

How are things with you??? (I hope much better!) Hey but it's CD 1 again, yippeee.

sgibbo · 24/07/2009 21:07

Hi Islegrin, sorry i haven't been around for a while, thought that the less i had to do with conception the less stressed i would be

I'm was really sorry to hear about your MIL and i hope you are OK

How has your TTC been - do you have any update?????

I've missed not talking to you...

islegrin · 11/07/2009 22:21

I'm back - wondering if you are, sgibbo.

islegrin · 28/06/2009 09:18

Well - Friday was not the best day ever. My MIL passed away while visiting with us from Michigan. Very, very sad! She was frail, but we did not expect this now, but she passed peacefully in her sleep. She had some respitory problems as well as Parkinson's.

Anndddd.. Friday was also CD1. The clinic here asked if we wanted to postpone, but DH and I agreed we were at peace with MIL's passing. So we're moving onto straight injectibles starting day 2. Probably will yield multiple follies, which will hopefully give us a better shot at a BFP.

I've been very sad and weepy today, DH and I went to see a movie and I cried a few times. I miss my MIL, I know she was only here for 3 weeks, but the house seems empty without her. We'll probably fly back with her remains on Wed/Thursday.

I know how you feel about more and more BFP popping up around you. It's tough to take, just keep reminding yourself that their good fortune has no bearing on your own. Try not to let it get to you, and keep focusing on all of the best things about your life. (I know, it's difficult... 4 and a half years for both of us is really too long!!!)

sgibbo · 27/06/2009 23:17

Hey, what's the latest with you, how are things going?

The wedding was lovely and i have only just recovered from flower duty!!! lol I'm really happy for my friend because she deserves to be happy after everything she has been through (and she has been through a lot) but i'm now dreading the moment when she tells me that she is BFP, she will be the last (besides me) to be BFP and i don't begrudge it i just think it's going to be harder then all the times before

Sorry for my rant, i'll just have to find something else to focus on and take my mind off it xxxx

islegrin · 23/06/2009 00:07

What a nice reason to be away - a wedding and flower duty, awesome!

Well I'm all supportive of no stress, best of luck with that. I'm better now, had a heart to heart with DH about plan c,d,and e... so I think we're on track. Keep trying for two more cycles with IUI, then we may or may not do one round of IVF. DH is not all that excited about adoption, feels like it may always be "different". I told him, it can still be wonderful. So we'll see.

I'm going to go update your CD in one of the threads... they have you going on day 65 or something ridiculous!

All my best!

sgibbo · 22/06/2009 14:04

Hey sorry i haven't been about much, my BFriend got married on Friday and i had all of the flowers to do so have been really busy.

I am on CD4 at the moment, not taking any meds or having any scans we thought we would have a few months of because we had so many things going on that it would be too stressful.

How early have you tested? I'm sure that your not doing anything wrong. it's just a case of waiting (which is the worst part and the thing we have been doing the most of!)

i'm going to keep everything crossed for you I'm sure it will be your trun very soon

islegrin · 19/06/2009 17:17

I tested early - another BFN! What am I doing wrong?

islegrin · 19/06/2009 03:30

Ok, sgibbo so pop back on! xx

Where are you with things? having scans, taking meds, anything? testing soon?

islegrin · 10/06/2009 16:22

I'm back, back, back!!!

While I was away I took letrozole (pills) and gonal-f shots and the day after I arrived was my CD10 scan... showed a 20mm follie on the bad side and a 21mm follie on the good side!!! Lining was textbook perfect, and doc decided to give me a trigger shot on CD10! I was shocked! So I'm scheduled for IUI today and our anniversary is tomorrow!

I can't wait to hear how things are with you!!! TELL ALL!

sgibbo · 06/06/2009 13:19

islegrin are you back yet?

Hey islegrin I know what you mean, some rounds seem to hit harder then others, i find that if i feel positive and really think that it may work that it's those months i find the hardest to get over.

No AF yet but still expecting her to turn up - she is a real witch this month because the one time i want her to be on time is the one month that she's late! was hoping for prime time to be whilst we are away but looks like it is more likely to be when we get back!

Aloha

Hope you have a good trip and enojy your time with your family xxxx

islegrin · 10/05/2009 00:33

I love "prime time" I'll see if I use that!

islegrin · 10/05/2009 00:31

sgibbo Sorry I've been away, especially since I haven't talked to you. I just got hit harder than I wanted to admit by this round of BFN. Seems like three strikes on IUI... I remember before we started this telling DH that I just wanted to do two rounds, just to try it. Luckily sometime last cycle he suggested we try for a total of 6 rounds, so I guess we have three more strikes to go.

I'm going on this trip in one week - May 16 through June 7th. Going to see my parents, and closest friends - I SO wanted to tell them good preggers news, it's very disappointing. It's made me cry a few times, but trying to keep that under control as we have so much to be thankful for - it's hard to throw a pity party for long around here.

I'm so sorry to hear about your BFN, it really bites. I was hoping you'd be the dark horse out of nowhere on an unlikely month to finally be up the duff! Well then - here's to your next cycle, hoping it's THE ONE! All the best and aloha!

sgibbo · 08/05/2009 16:01

Hey Islegrin Where are you??? you've been MIA for a few days does this mean you are now on your three week trip???

tested twice BFN both times AF due today but as yet no sign - now it's the waiting game

DH was very spontaneous yesterday and booked us a holiday out of the blue for a week in Palma from the 16th May - 23rd May (as he calls it prime time!)

How are things with you whats the latest???

sgibbo · 06/05/2009 10:22

I might test tomorrow - although already feel like it's going to be BFN but haven't POS for a while now - you know how additictive it is...
No AF symptoms yet but still a few days to go don't worry we'll only be a couple of CDs apart

islegrin · 06/05/2009 10:13

Check Assisted Conception and the bits in between for LondonLottie.

I know - I'll miss being cycle buddies!

Can't wait to hear how you make out with your test!!!

sgibbo · 06/05/2009 10:01

islegrin Sorry to hear the evil witch got you...how come she showed so early????? We're not going to be CD buddies this time round !?!?!?!?!

BD for fun it's the way forward!!!!

What thread is LondonLottie on???

Expecting AF Saturday but may test Friday if i can't wait

islegrin · 06/05/2009 02:56

sgibbo bad news - AF turned up around noon on CD 24... oh well, may give us some time to try on our own this next month before I leave on the trip. Hope you had more luck than I did!!!
