Hi, i'm new to mumsnet. I don't have children - yet, I am ttc via a fertility clinic. Going to be having IUI plus medication to boost fertility etc. Would be glad to hear from others using clinics/IUI etc as it's all a bit of a minefield.
Thanks !

sgibbo! I'm back on the upswing of the rollercoaster, and back on the next cycle! I'm so sorry to hear you are having trouble getting meds! Is that common? Is it a funding thing or a judgement call on the dr's part? Or just pharmacy stock? I've never heard of that before.

wow- you are nearly newlyweds! Congrats on year number 3. Wait - now I'm doing math, so you were actively trying before you got married For some reason I think that's more common in the UK than here, at least the trying part!

So we have 5 weeks of downregging and lining building (no stimming) then in first week of Nov we'll do a frozen embryo transfer (FET). Then of course the dreaded wait! I'm very excited, dr said everything last time went well, the only minor thing that she could see was my hormone levels were high for EC and that might have been a bit too high for sticking. anyway - I'm back on bc pills, and the headaches that come with them. I couldn't be happier - hope always does that to me.

sgibbo · 30/09/2009 22:56

I'm really sorry to hear that...I can't imagine how you feel and what emotions you must be going through, i know how hard it is normally without the added pressure of what you have been through xxxxxxx

Have you decided what your next move is?

I am having trouble even getting my meds this time round the pharmacy have only given me the ovitrelle and the menopur may not even been in in time for my next cycle.

Going away to the west country for a few days for our 3rd wedding anniversary which will hopefully relax us both!!!!

keep in touch it would be great to hear from you xxxxxxx

Official results: negative

Oh well, at least I knew it was coming. I had the gut wrenching out of the way, but it's still tough. This of course, reinforces my daily testing. The call was 3 hours later than they said, I can't imagine if I had not tested on my own - I would have been out of my mind!!! I was pacing as it was.

Looks like we have some decisions to make, but right now - we'll probably go for another round with the frozen ones in Mid Nov or early December.

Hope you are doing well!

How did it go today? any news? being a june baby myself i can advise that it's always better to have a birthday half way through the year!

I'm doing OK i spoke with the FC nurse again this week and see seems much nicer then the last one i had. She seems a bit more interested in a way and seems to spend a bit more time listening rather then jumping the gun with formality

islegrin · 24/09/2009 17:48

HPT is a BFN again, has been for days - since tomorrow is the official blood test date, there's really no chance that magically my hCG value can jump from below 20 to over 100. So it looks like one giant babyfail again. This one has been the worst to take, because we knew exactly how far we got - two good embryos in the right spot... and still NOTHING!!! ugh - don't really know what to do now. Guess we have to consider FET or not. Damn it! Late may birthdate would have been so perfect.

oh well - I hope you are doing ok! I'm glad you are still looking forward, esp. to getting back on meds and the baby making train!

sgibbo · 22/09/2009 19:26

AF got me on Friday so BFN for definite! i'm still positive about the whole situation and know sooner or later it will be my turn, i think i helps knowing that if we don't have BFP by the new year that we will be trying IVF. I also think it helps knowing that next time round i can go back on the meds! lol it's kinda strange i've almost missed them!!!!

So how are things going with you? only a few more days before you can test????

Do you feel any different???? xxx

islegrin · 18/09/2009 23:36

No signs of AF is great - I'll keep clinging on to hope for you!!!

Yep, chance for singleton or TWINS!!! If it's a postive pg test, my doc is running about an 80% rate of twins, so I'm very hopefull, almost needlessly so.

I'm working through this TWW - today is day 8 and there is ONE MORE WEEK to go. I'm going a bit bonkers, but will make it. Especially with the humor from my husband. He dubbed our embies (did I tell you there is a pic in my profile?) "Bert & Ernie" because of the patch of "hair" on the one! ha ha -

I also found out that they fertilized 6 eggs via ICSI and the rest without. They never even discussed that possibility with us, but it does let us know that both ways worked at the same rate. I was a bit taken aback at first, but I think it all turned out well in the end and would have given us the same or better results than if they hadn't done it.

Here's hoping to two BFP very soon for both of us!!! xx

sgibbo · 17/09/2009 20:02

Hey, that's fantastic news, does this mean there is the potential for twins????? 6-7 to freeze OMG you couldn't ask for more!!!! The personal touch is always much better it makes you feel more comfortable with the whole situation

I hope you have been keeping your feet up! and i hope DH has been doing everything for you....

Can't wait to hear of news on the 25th

I've tested a few times now because i am over my tww but they have all come back BFN. No sign of AF yet so just have to keep waiting. i'd rather this one hurried up so that i can start my meds again in October!

Keeping absolutely everything crossed for you xxxx

islegrin · 15/09/2009 01:46

well ET went very smoothly - we transferred back in two great quality 8 cell embryos!!! And the biggest news of all is that we had another 6-7 to freeze! I can't believe that! I always knew the odds of that happening were really stacked against us. I personally think it really helps that the lab is in my doc's office, and they do all the procedures right there instead of in a hospital. The whole staff is really great and so far we've had excellent results.

Now must lie in bed, and wait for implantation in the next 3 days! We take a blood test for pg on Sept 25!!!

How close are you to testing? What are your symptoms, it would just be awesome if we both fell pg so close together, I'm still hoping!

xx

sgibbo · 14/09/2009 16:38

OMG! How fantastic is that, can't wait to hear about your results from today???? I can't believe how close you finally are...you must be soo excited????

Symptom spotting like crazy and crazy i must be i'm sure i am imagining a lot of them! should be expecting AF any day now....

xxxxxx

islegrin · 12/09/2009 20:50

I guess yesterday's unexpected news was tempered by today's reality. Before yesterday we were expecting 12-16 mature eggs, yesterday included immature eggs - so the total that actually fertilized by today is 12! Which is wonderful, I just hope that at least 4 survive until Monday's transfer so we may have a couple to freeze.

Lots of hurdles to go, but we'll start the tww on Monday! Still symptom spotting on your end???

xx

islegrin · 12/09/2009 02:47

Went well today - tender now, but they got 27 eggs! I can't believe it, some of those must be immature, surely... but tomorrow we hear how many fertilized! Can you believe that? We'll know in 24 hours, then make a plan for ET on monday --- then the dreaded tww! How will I ever go from this much excitement to waiting waiting waiting. Oh, well it must be done.

Good to hear you are busy, but not TOO busy to symptom spot! I hope you get your BFP before you even go to the last round with no meds!

Let me know as soon as you find out - either way.

xx

sgibbo · 11/09/2009 23:39

WOW, things seem to be moving along now for you, 14 - 16 of them at 19-20mm is fantastic news. I can't wait for your BFP news!!!

tww seems to be dragging, symptom spotting started before tww even started!!!! lol! I've been really busy work and at home.

Finally managed to speak to FC this week and have a perscription for next cycle they are not starting injections until October so this is going to be our last try without meds....fingers crossed

How did it go today???? bet you can't wait till monday????

xxx

islegrin · 09/09/2009 07:40

Had last scan today - trigger shot tomorrow, still don't know what time exactly. Guess that means I have to pack a cool pack and take the HCG with me? How is that going to work? Oh well - I'm sure I'll figure out something. Follicles still look good most are at 19-20mm and there are fully 14-16 of them. Wow!

Still a long way to go --- but we are on our way. Friday is now definite EC and Monday for ET. I'm taking off Tues and Wednesday for work - we've been very busy so it's strange to have to make time for this, but I'm doing it!

How is the tww going? Any symptom spotting yet? Or are you keeping busy with other things?

xx

islegrin · 07/09/2009 19:07

Had a scan on Sunday - looks like we're going to let go the bigger folls 3 or 4 of them (17-19mm) to allow the little ones to mature (14 of them between 10-14mm). That means EC probably pushed until Friday and ET on Monday. Still good news, we've been very lucky so far - just hope that holds out.

I can't help but feel that we'll still get a BFN at the end - but it is our best chance yet, so I'm cautiously hopeful.

Next scan on Tuesday!

xx

sgibbo · 04/09/2009 21:48

Wow that is fantastic news, i can't wait until your next update, I'm really excited for you and DH

10 eggs and 6 more potentials that's great news, bet you can't wait for the next part!!!!

Keep me updated on your progress it's always great to hear some good news, it keeps my spirits up!

S xxx

islegrin · 04/09/2009 21:34

Update - as I just got back from my scan, pretty good news so far:

Right - 6 fols (10-19mm)
Left - 4 fols (14mm) with 6 more little ones that they're going to try to develop.

I'm very happy with that, seems like we have a good shot at getting at least one baby.

gotta go

islegrin · 04/09/2009 17:56

Hi sgibbo I'm so happy you are in the tww - and there's a chance of being pg. Taking a break from MN and meds can be very nice at times. It will happen sometime, someway for you - but NOW would be much better!!!

I was all for not rushing into IVF, but now I'm reconsidering. I wish we had tried IVF a little sooner - not a lot, I'm still glad we tried a few cycles of IUI - mainly because of money, but in my case I think was a couple too many. It all depends on what your factors are and where you are emotionally and financially - but after 4 years of trying... it is definitely worth a shot.

I have my first scan today, in a couple of hours to see how my follies are progressing. Bad news is that I woke up with a stuffed nose, sore throat and I feel like I have a cold. They have both DH and I on anti-biotics to make sure the egg and sperm are in good condition - so it must be a virus. I wonder if this will pause our progress. Ironically, I've been feeling much better than I have for weeks.

So - scan today, then scan on Tuesday keep injecting 6 shots a day, then EC tentatively scheduled for Thursday-Friday. Will go under general anesthesia. We're hoping for 2-10 good eggs - the more the better for possible freezing, but I can't get too greedy. Then if all goes well (fingers crossed) ET the following Monday-Tuesday.

Best of luck on the tww - in the meantime keep yourself busy with other things! Let me know when you test.

xx

sgibbo · 04/09/2009 13:16

Hey! Glad to see your back, it's nice to take a break from MN,

WOW - so all go for you then! it would be fantastic if you were to have twins, I'm going to keep everything crossed for you,

I'm in 2WW at the moment OV'd exactly on CD 14 this cycle which is also very unusual for me as i tend to OV later. Still haven't returned to FC as the new nurse hasn't started yet. Can't wait to start the injections again, although DH keeps suggesting we go straight to IVF

So what happens for you now after stimming? how long does this part of the process take for you?

S x

islegrin · 01/09/2009 19:13

Hi sgibbo!

How are you??? Sorry to hear your 32CD didn't turn into a BFP - that would have been icing on the cake! I can't wait til the day when I hear your good news!

I took a break from MN for a while while I was on birth control pills prepping my system for IVF this month.

Started stimming yesterday - lupron, follistum, and repronex (sp?) I'm starting to get excited, but trying not to get my hope up too high. (But I'm totally praying for twins)

x

sgibbo · 18/08/2009 17:02

Islegrin, How are you doing? Any update?

I had a CD32 this month which is very unusual for me, i almost got my hopes up!, Still waiting for September when i can phone FC, but it seems to be dragging!

Hope you are well

S x

sgibbo · 10/08/2009 16:35

bump

sgibbo · 05/08/2009 19:40

So does this now mean you are having IVF or is this the step before IVF for you?

I'm happy and well - in TWW at the moment so am like a mad woman symptom spotting!

I phoned the FC this week to see when we could start our treatment again and the FC nurse has left and they don't have anyone to replace her until september, which means all treatment is on hold. Not the best news but not the worst gives us a couple more months TTC naturally

islegrin · 04/08/2009 17:53

Sgibbo not much new to report, just taking bc pills and waiting. Have a scan booked for Aug 25 to make sure there are no follies - weird, opposite of what we normally want. Then I get to start rev'ing up the engines with stimming.

I hope you are happy and well!

islegrin · 26/07/2009 07:31

Yes, I know what you mean - exactly. In fact, while at the doc's office I changed the approach for this month, we're starting to hijack my system with (of all things) birth control pills. So that in September we can do IVF. It's crazy, I never really thought I'd get this far, but hey we've got to play with the cards we are dealt!

I'm so glad you've had less stress about this, that's really good. We'll just take it as it comes.

Take care! xxx
