Hi, i'm new to mumsnet. I don't have children - yet, I am ttc via a fertility clinic. Going to be having IUI plus medication to boost fertility etc. Would be glad to hear from others using clinics/IUI etc as it's all a bit of a minefield.
Thanks !

Hey Islegrin, my last post doesn't seem to have posted properly.

I started my Buserelin injections on the 23rd feb and have my first suppressed scan this thursday. It's pretty scary and have had to do a few myself. My stomach looks like a pin cushion and is full of bruises!

How did the transfer go????? I'm excited to find out?????

Did you have any side effects from the Buserelin? Did you bleed at all? I know the last one is a bit personal but i've never had a bleed like this before and i had to take the day off today because of it. Also i've had migraines for the last four days which i can't seem to shift

Keep in touch Promise i won't leave it so long next time

Sgibbo send me an email, when you get a chance, I'd like to keep in touch.

islegrin · 10/02/2010 17:37

Today is transfer day! Excited but trying not to get my hopes up!!! Sgibbo I hope you are doing great! Drop me a line when you get a chance.

islegrin · 01/02/2010 20:46

I just read that Lots33 (originator of this thread) is 6 weeks pregnant! She did 3 cycles of IUI and the last one stuck! Congrats to her.

islegrin · 01/02/2010 20:21

sgibbo good to see your posts! I'm glad results are all on track and now it's just a waiting game until your IVF cycle. How are you feeling about it? Just a few weeks before you can get started with the next chapter!

The hysteroscopy itself went very well, they found some scarring or a septum that made a heart-shaped uterus, so when the doc clipped it, the whole thing popped back to normal shape. This could be a non-stick factor, but we don't know for sure how the next round will go, of course. Bad news is that both my tubes are now confirmed to have problems, the right side is somewhat open but doesn't flow well. So it's IVF or nuttin!
My mental state about the hysteroscopy was a total mess, I was all over the place - and woke up from anesthesia swearing! But it's over, and I'm glad we had it done.

I have a scan and blood tests today, and I'm a bit nervous (who knows why - I've been through this enough times!) This is to confirm things are on track for frozen embryo transfer next Wednesday. I'm allowing myself to be the littlest bit excited and hopefull, but not much more!

sgibbo · 22/01/2010 23:11

Hey Islegrin

How's things going with you?

All results came back OK and now we are waiting for our funding for the IVF which we hope should start in March/April - fingers crossed it comes through soon

sgibbo · 02/01/2010 15:52

Hey, sorry had a billion and one things to do over the holidays and the list still seems to be getting longer!!!!

We had another ultrasound to make sure everything was OK with me and DH had another semen anaylsis but we don't get the results of those until out appointment. Still a waiting game at the moment. AF showed her ugly face today but i've been expecting her!

How are things with you???? how did the hysteroscopy go????

islegrin · 21/12/2009 23:13

sgibbo wondering how you are doing?

islegrin · 11/12/2009 18:00

sgibbo that IS good news! I love progress, it really helps keep you going. January is not far away at all.

Have hysteroscopy on Monday morning... still not excited about it, but if it will help understand what's going on, I'll gladly do it. Bummer is that it means that we won't be able to do anything until February, which seems like an eternity (and I have a bday in January so the passing of time is particularly noticeable!)

HM welcome to the MN boards, I've also been ttc for a long time but was new to MN when this thread started, so let me know if you have any questions.

sgibbo · 07/12/2009 21:34

Hey Islegrin, sorry haven't been on for a while, i've been super busy and don't seem to have a couple of minutes to spare. Good news for me is that we have our appointment date through already to start IVF 12th January which is not that far away,

We have to have scan and tests before hand which feels like we are starting from the beginning but at the moment i'm really glad the process is starting!

I can't believe how quick it has been they said 6 months they said April next year and we have our first appointment in January!!!!

How are you what have you been up to what have you decided to do next.

Welcome HypotheticalMummy, hope i can be of any help been TTC for quite a while so if you have any questions....

HypotheticalMummy · 30/11/2009 02:49

Hello all - I am both new to Mumsnet and new to TTC! Have been frantically trying to become accustomed to all of the acronyms and have been searching for an appropriate thread to hazard a post! My partner and I only started trying to conceive about 3 weeks ago but already I feel as if I am seeing some positive signs - frequent urination, constipation (no fun but I'm looking on the bright side) and tummy cramping. I am, however, horribly aware that my overwhelming desire for a baby MAY BE clouding my judgement and MAY BE making me see things that aren't necessarily there! Feel I'm going a bit loopy actually! I've only been trying for 3 weeks - how am I going to feel 6 months down the line?!

islegrin · 25/11/2009 17:00

Had consult on Monday, doc is recommending hysteroscopy to take a full color look at my uterus... I don't mind looking but she's also going to go ahead and "fix" anything she sees wrong in there. That worries me a bit...

Hoping you are doing well, sgibbo. Can't wait to hear some good news!

islegrin · 20/11/2009 17:03

I don't know, the docs always want us to have a "few days" to get over it after a negative result before they will do the debriefing on what happened.

I'm guessing they will be really suprised (again) that it didn't work... we could try again as we have 3 frozen embies left, but if the chances are the same or worse - what's the point?

Guess we'll just have to wait and see. It might be time to move back to adoption for us. We started there in January, then the class was so scary that we went into AC.

I really don't know now. I just hate giving up, and failure. I can't imagine never having a child.

sgibbo · 20/11/2009 16:57

I'm so sorry to hear that, did they say why it didn't work this time?

Can you try again?

xxxxx

islegrin · 20/11/2009 15:35

It's official - game over. I don't know what we're going to do next.

islegrin · 19/11/2009 17:25

sgibbo - seems to be a no for me this time, will confirm tomorrow.

xx

sgibbo · 18/11/2009 16:29

Not on any progesterone or estrogen meds, taking it Ok, i kinda knew/felt it anyway

Had our appt, we are going on the list potentially April next year, could be sooner could be longer depending on funding.

how are you? are you still going to test tomorrow??? I can't believe it's been two weeks already!!!!

i think that we have to discuss the non sticking factors when we go for the IVF, so keeping my fingers crossed it happens before then

islegrin · 17/11/2009 00:26

So I guess you weren't on any progesterone or estrogen meds then? That usually holds off the dreaded-one. That's shit - I'm so sorry to hear! How are you taking it? Looking forward now to the appt with the specialist and IVF talk?

I was so hoping you'd be able to avoid all of that. It's not that bad, at all - just a lot of mental gymnastics and shots.

I'm doing ok- starting to feel a bit frantic if this turns out negative, I'm bracing myself for the worst - but HOPING for the best! It's a tough balance, to say the least. Will officially have blood test on Friday, but will probably test at home on Thursday - I can't bear to wait for them to call on Friday afternoon with the news, without having a clue at the outcome.

I hope you and your DH are handling this ok - you still have a lot to look forward to! You will win your baby, yet!!!

PS - any testing for non-sticking factors such as mine??? It might be worth it, esp since they think you may have had an early mc.

sgibbo · 16/11/2009 09:46

Hey, BFN for me, CD18 after ovitrelle, finally spoke to the FC nurse this morning she was extremely surprised to hear that it was CD18 before AF got me.

She said that it could have been a miscarriage because it should have been exactly 14days after ovitrelle.

We have our appointment with the consultant this aternoon to discuss IVF, our hospital do not offer IUI because it only has the same chances as OV stimulation.

How are you getting on???? any symptom spotting???

Will keep you updated this afternoon

islegrin · 16/11/2009 08:37

Just one more week, for me, to stick it out! I'm holding my breath for you!!!

Must turn in to bed, just back from my trip... more later!

xx

sgibbo · 13/11/2009 18:36

That's brilliant news, wow so you could actually have triplets????? It's nice to actually go through the whole thing together especially when one of you have to go through more then the other (if i've said that correctly)

waiting impatiently i've tested twice both BFN yet DPO 17 and still nothing no sign of AF yet do not feel any different to be BFP. You know me when i'm on meds i'm regular as clock work!!!

I'm trying not to get my hopes up but it's hard not to especially when my cloest friend told me today that when she got BFP with her DS who is 1 sunday she had a whole month with BFN and a good friend of DH who had a DD last Friday (goregous little thing) had BFN for two months befor BFP would show on any test

Still looking forward to Monday however, tried to call the FC nurse today and left a message but she hasn't returned my call yet!

Can't wait to hear your news in 2wks time!!!! i'd be so excited if we got BFP's at the same timexxxxxx
