Blocka - I've only been using the OPKs for a couple of months (bumper pack of cheapy sticks that I bought online) and I haven't had a single definitive result from them. A couple of really faint lines but nothing like I expected.

Dr told me not to bother using them. She said working out exactly when you ovulate can be really inaccurate and to just go with the regular BD approach but that can be hard to maintain so I've basically ignored her and carried on POAS (without telling DH in case the obsessive ovulation monitoring turns out to be a bit of a passion killer for him).

Hi Blocka, sorry can't help about the OPKS with the meds i'm on mine are controlled and tested for.

My husband insists I lay still after bd becuase he is convinced they have all been flushed away!

Higglepig · 06/04/2009 14:57

Wow, that's really quite soon. Hope it flies by. Very best of luck to you - will be looking out for your news.

AF isn't due for me until the following sunday (19th) but I'm going to a hen night on 18th so was thinking of using the first response that's been lurking in my drawer since I last caved in and bought a pack. At least that way I can drown my sorrows in a large glass of cheap wine if it's a BFN.

Then again, I've heard all sorts of bad things about early response tests on this site so a bit undecided.

Blocka · 06/04/2009 14:52

Hello everyone!!!

Never mind symptom spotting, what about bl**dy ovulation spotting! I have had EWCM for about 3 days, on day 14 of a 28 cycle but STILL NO SMILEY FACES ON MY OPKS!!!!!

Its the first time I have used the OPKs, and have been testing since day 9. Have I missed it? Is it possible to be this late? Could my OPKs be crap (its an expensive one as well?!)

My DP works shifts so I am going to have to ask him to pop home for some BDing but don't want to bother him if I'm not even ovulating.

Whats going on?

Oh, and I'm glad about that lying down thing as well. Managed 30 mins on saturday morning but I still think it went down the loo.....

Welcome aboard all our new friends!!!

sgibbo · 06/04/2009 14:47

Hey Higglepig, i've never had to use a opts due to all the tests and meds, don't think i'd even know how to use one!

I've only got until Saturday but it seems to be dragging! luckily it's only a four day week at work this week so will be able to occupy myself with stuff to do at home! I was planning on testing Sunday if AF doesn't show up, i'm trying to be really good but it's ssssoooooo hard! feeling quiet positive this month but trying not to get my hopes up too much - trying to avoid massive disappointment.

When are you due to test?

Higglepig · 06/04/2009 14:24

Hi sgibbo,

That's really good to know re the lying down/legs up thing.

Haven't quite got into the waiting phase yet cos my cycle is really long so I think I've only just past ovulation although I only ever get a really faint line on those OPTs so I don't know if I've actually ovulated at all but that's another question.

I'm just trying to strike a balance between thinking positive and getting over-confident. I'm feeling so excited about this month and think I may be building myself up for a massive disappointment.

So you've only got about a week to wait, right? What day are you testing? How are you feeling about it?

ccpink · 06/04/2009 14:18

I am getting into this obsessive thing too so think it's so good that we know we aren't on our own in our mentalness! Been and bought some ov predictors. Rip off price so hope they're worth it.
Skihorse - i think we all get envious from time to time - from a distance it always seems easier for everyone else. I keep thinking I should focus on the little smasher I have, but my mind just keeps drifting back to no2! I'm only cd 6 too and your cycle shorter than my normal ones so we might be trying around same time. Chin up for Jan

sgibbo · 06/04/2009 13:44

hi Higglepig i asked my Fnurse about that and she said that it didn't make any difference she said she didn't know one couple that had tried it and were successful. she said laying in bed for 10 minutes or so after would be enough.

I just noticed we are on the same CD, how are you finding the waiting this time round?

Higglepig · 06/04/2009 13:35

Hi ladies,

How's everyone doing? Sorry I've been absent for a while. Have been v busy with work (which is a v good thing cos I'm freelance and it's been completely dead of late) and BD.

What's the verdict on lying flat and/or with legs up after BD? I'd never even thought about it and certainly didn't try it for DD1 but these days I'm a bit more obsessed with TTC. A couple of times I've had to rush off straight after BDing and wonder if that reduces your chances drastically? But then again, I have to keep reminding myself people get preg all the time without lying flat on their back for hours on end.. What do y'all think?

skihorse · 06/04/2009 10:36

Thank you laurielou, I really appreciate the fact that someone is stuck in the same boat as me, although I'd much rather you were getting a BFP obviously!

I had a horrible, terrible thought yesterday - I was feeling quite morose and then I got to feeling "envious" of women who had become pregnant and then had an abortion - because at least they knew they "could". Which is a REALLY effed up thing to be thinking and I'm NOT envious and I KNOW it's now light matter.

laurielou · 06/04/2009 09:39

Welcome aboard skihorse. I too did everything to avoid getting pg, assuming when I was ready it would happen easily - ARGH!!! (I'm 36 by the way) Try not to be too hard on yourself - easier said than done I know.

bringon thank you for keeping me company in the sympton spotting / obsessing stakes!! I've never been pg before so can't even compare. Honestly, if I sneeze I'm putting it down to pg at the moment.

Have to know one way or the other.........

added you to the list skihorse sorry to hear about af coming and getting you this month. we're all here for you!

hey laurielou meeeeeeee to! i keep finding random things going on in my body and just tagging them as "pregnancy symptoms"
-heartburn (tbf, i'd never had it until i was pg with ds)
-gas bubbles... was that a cramp?
i'm due for af next monday as well and i can't wait to just either find a BFP (which would be !!) or just get af out of the way to start trying again next month. i hate being all obsessive like this!

skihorse · 06/04/2009 08:56

hi ladies, I'm adding myself to the Jan bus. Feeling quite emotional about it all right now and very down on myself for not getting PG when I was younger (I'm 35). I've tried all my life not to get pg by a waste-of-space, to 'build a career', etc., etc., etc. I suppose I'll feel better in a few days.

Anyway:

laurielou · 06/04/2009 08:37

Morning all, hope you had a good weekend.

donttry - am failing horribly at the obsessive symptom spotting. List so far:

feeling nauseas;
pelvic cramps;
tired (vvvv tired!);
manic cleaning of everything (OK, fairly random I know, but I've been like a demon all weekend);
differnt consistency & frequency of EWCM (sorry for the TMI);
just feeling odd (which DP has dismissed as me being normal!!!)

AF not even due until next Mon - this is the longest week or so of my life.

Managed to keep busy over the weekend to stop obsessing & keep me off the thread, but work already boring & I've found myself drifting off into thoughts of new year babies.

Hope I'm not alone on the crazy ship.........

ccpink · 06/04/2009 08:18

Thanks don't try this at home - sorry for needing help!!! My cycle is impossible to predict. Had been doing really well but last month didn't have period at all?!? First time round I had to have Clomid to sort me out but hoping I can do it all by myself this time!
Lucky Salem and Veryanniemary are my cycle buddies. Think I've updated everyone for today. Sending baby dust to all those dancing like mad things

Good luck everyone.

I obsessing but at the conception stage, not syptom stage.

Still haven't had a smiley face on my OPK but slight bleeding yesterday, then definate EWCM today.

DD disturbed the BDing last night, so we had to continue this morning (was wonken by DP a 6am for this!) - but I was desperate for a pee, managed to wait 30 mins after 'the event' before I went to the loo but I am now convinced it all went down the toilet .

DP is out tonight, so BDing not on the cards this evening.

What if I miss the boat? Where are my smiley faces? Why am I 10lbs heavier than I should be and had to buy my first pair of size 14 trousers today?

Off for some wine....

-headaches
-bbs sore at random times but not consistently

anyone else already started obsessing? we could start obsessing together!

donttrythisathome · 03/04/2009 21:41

Looked at my TCOYF book...

Blocka,

Agree with bringonthe trumpets. Believe combination of streaking and EWCM is potentially very fertile - sign you are coming up to ov. Grab the fella and get BDing girl! If streaking lasts more than couple or so days or so though maybe look into it further as may be something else.

Veryannie

think you're right, body just takes time to adjust and go back to your normal cycles when you come off pill.
