Hi Betty I did that for my first as I wasn't having periods etc. etc. But because since coming off the pill I've been regular - until last month I thought I could try a less labour intensive approach for now...I have to admit I did feel very knowledgeable about my body when I was temping though. Who knows. I just want to be pregnant - why does it have to be so hard

Hi ccpink and also new girls on the bus. I can't help with opk's I'm afraid, my doc advised me when we were trying for DD two years ago that temping was the best way to check - you can't see when you're about to ovulate, but you can see when you have IYSWIM. Or if actually you haven't for that cycle. The downside of course is you have to chart for a while to be able to predict your fertile time in the next cycle. When I'm feeling a bit sad I look at the graph from April 2007 when I got PG with DD and look at the lovely temperatures staying high.

ps my opk's just say not the first wee of the day as too concentrated and try not to drink too much a couple of hours before! Easy then eh!!!

Marla - my dd is 18 months too and we know feel the time may be right...if we're lucky!I'm not sure who else said they were confused by the opk's but I am too. In the excitement of having them [ sad I know] I tried one today expecting nothing but there was a definite line and I'm only cd7? It was alittle bit fainter than the test but not a lot? Anyone knowledgable?!?
Don'ttrythis - did someone medical tell you about the cm? I had always assumed like Blocka that the wetter the better - sorry sounds gross!!
Wondering if I should tempt dh tonight just in case my stick was right?!?

Im a relative newbie too but have gleaned enough to know that CD is cycle day (with CD1 being the first day of your period)

UCL is, as you surmised, usual cycle length.

So am trying to decypher the acronyms.. what's CD and how do you calulate it and I guess UCL is how long my cycle is normally?

not sure about OPKs, as I haven't used them before. I know there are others who are much better for those q's.

I always do as well (water infections, NOooooo thank you!) I just wait like 10 minutes so all the lovely wrigglers can do their thing and then get up and go. I read that any longer than 10 minutes isn't going to do much. I think everyone has their own rituals though...

Yeah Blocka, can only tell the day after. Its not the day of the wettest CM though, its the last day you produce your fertile CM. So the "wettest" day could have been a few days before that. Apparently this becomes "intuitive" after a while. Hmmm....we'll see.....
Basically I plan to just BD any time I see the EWCM.

urgh, i just keep having these visions of af being late next week and me being all only to have a BFN and af taking forever to make an appearance. dh-bless- just asked yesterday why i couldn't just take a test to find out right now. i had to explain that there was a rhyme and reason to it all. if men were the ones getting pregnant, they would have definitely already come up with an instant conception hpt.

Hi donttrythis , the confusing thing about relying on your EWCM is that you don't know which day was your wettest until it has passed. Like, 'Oh, today is dryer than yesterday, so I was fertile yesterday. fuck'

When you have a DP who works shifts, it all gets a bit annoying! If it was men who were only fertile for 24 hours, they would of invented a big button on their tummy which flashed red when they were fertile - wouldn't they. And we would all have a day off on those days for constant BDing. And the minute the tadpole reached the egg and its head exploded, a huge bump would appear and they would have nine months at home with their feet up. And a servant. Paid for by the government.

Hi thesoo , I think the best thing to do is to keep BDing just incase! I checked my Clearblue pack and it says you should get 2 positive results in a row - so if you got 3, I wouldn't worry too myuch. I guess it depends on how big a surge you had??

I have had my first positive OPK this morning, on day 15 of a 28 day cycle which is quite late - previous months I have been focussing on days 10 - 12, so no wonder I have had BFNs. DP on shifts again tonight so am going to have to call him back again!!!

Soo - consulted my "bible"(TCOYF) and looks like your OPK was invalid. I'm sure you know this but it also says if no EWCM then your most fertile day would be the last day of the wettest quality CM that you get. Also, if the test was positive on Sat, this was only day 14 for you, which seems slightly early given your UCL.

Hmmm,
I have been using OPKs this month for the first time. I had a positive result on Saturday, so set to work BDing, as you do.

Out of curiosity, I tested again on Sunday and again on Monday. Both results were still positive. Is it normal to get a positive for 3 days in a row? I thought that the LH surge was brief and often elusive? Could the tests be faulty?

No EWCM at all, which is not unusual as I don't always see this.

Any ideas?

Ski - same here, 36, never wanted them and now obsessed. ...get stabs of envy and yearning sometimes when see all the bumps, and where I live is chocka with kids and preggers people.

Blocka - ov not necessarily mid month, could be day 17/18 for you etc! Anyway agree best to BD before ov. Loving the ten mins...

Blocka that's so funny!!!Not just the ten minutes but the fact you have got DP so well trained that he will come home home for BD'ing. Love it. I've heard same about the sticks but it's just something else to help in my opinion. Am going for it this weekend even if not got a line. Plus I'm a believer in the EWCM so 3 days must be a good sign for you. Fingers crossed!
