Hi everyone! Hubby and I are desperately broody and have been for a few years. We're hoping to TTC later this year, we're having to wait til Hubby finishes his degree as we just can't afford to have a baby whilst he's a student. Am wanting to come off the pill round about May, and hopefully TTC about Nov/Dec. Want to come off the pill a few months early as I've been on it for over 14 yrs, and would like to know what its like to have normal periods!

Be nice to know if anyone else is in a similar situation.

Just read a few pages back! I can see when your all going to try.

Kayzr - We'll be August too.

Im not going to find out the sex this time either, I did with DD but Id love a surprise. I also wish for a natural birth this time, instead of marathon labour and emcs

mrswill · 19/01/2010 21:14

Hello all, I recognise a few names from our weightloss thread too.

I currently have a 18 month old, and will be trying for another in a few months.

We also planned DD, and luckily I got pregnant the first time we had sex without contraception! I hope Im as lucky next time. I hadnt heard of the shettles method then, but I did desperately want a girl, but we did it when I ovulated (ovalation testing stick things), but I still ended up with a girl. I hope to conceive another girl this time, as id love DD to have a sister, as Im very close to mine. We'll be using the shettles method for a girl too. But wouldnt be disappointed if it was a boy.

Am currently eating well and exercising to get in the best shape possible to conceive due to suffering hyperemesis last time.
Bebejones - I too had hyperemesis with DD, in hospital and allsorts with it, its horrific. The midwife did tell me, that it is more common for girls or multiples.

When are you all planning to get the ball rolling so to speak?

Kayzr · 19/01/2010 16:09

The Shettles method has worked both times for me getting a boy. The book says it is much easier to get a boy as you are having sex at ovulation rather than hoping the sperm survives until you ovulate.

I could never wait until the birth to find out. I am far too impatient!!! Before I was pg with DS1 I never wanted to find out what sex we were having. Also I wasn't bothered what sex we got but I really really wanted a boy once I was actually pregnant. It was really weird.

bebejones · 19/01/2010 15:11

What worries me most about shettles 'boy' method is that because there is such a short window of oppurtunity conceiving seems like more of a long shot. I know probably not technically true but that's how I see it IYSWIM!

We initially weren't going to find out sex with DD, but I had had hyperemesis & had felt so out of control of what was happening that it made me really anxious about the whole thing! So we changed our minds so that I could prepare myself & sort of get some control back! I think if we found out next time round I wouldn't tell anyone in RL. But then again it might slip out in all the excitement!

tanmu82 · 19/01/2010 14:49

I like the idea of it, but I don't want to get my hopes up on a girl....I also don't want to get so caught up in having a girl, that i stand a chance of being 'disappointed' if it's a boy iyswim.....

Besides, I decided that when I get pregnant this next time, I am going to go against all my previous arguments and convictions and wait until the birth to find out the sex ()....I've always maintained that knowing the sex enabled me to bond better (with a he/she instead of 'it') and prepare better, but I'm warming to the idea of being surprised.....

bebejones · 19/01/2010 13:50

We are going to give it a go for a boy! Although lately I'm thinking I'd quite like another girl! I didn't chart with DD at all, just roughly aimed at middle of cycle & didn't think it would happen straight away! Ooops! Prob means will take ages 2nd time around! DH will be pleased!

Kayzr · 19/01/2010 11:46

It's the Shettles method here. It is all to do with when you ovulate. If you want a girl then you should have sex 2-3 days before you ovulate and the stop having sex. But if you want a boy you should only have sex the day before you ovulate and the day you ovulate.

We would like a 3rd boy but we also want a girl so we thought we would give it a try.

tanmu82 · 19/01/2010 11:39

what is this....your temp can help you conceive one sex over the other??!! Tell me more! I so want another girl lol

Kayzr · 19/01/2010 11:31

I didn't chart with either of the boys. I'm only doing it as we are having a go at having a girl.

bebejones · 19/01/2010 11:26

Kayzr - think I will stick with the digital one for now then!

bebejones · 19/01/2010 11:25

Tanmu82 - you don't have to chart, just IMO gives you something to 'do'!! Plus it does help you understand when you are most fertile & stand the best chance of conceiving! Check out fertilityfriend.com the basic charting stuff is free on there & they send you lessons to ur email when you join which explain the charting methods & information etc that you can use! I'm finding it quite a useful distraction!

tanmu82 · 19/01/2010 11:04

I was just kinda hoping to 'do the deed' often and around the middle of my cycle and then hope for the best! Do I actually need to start buying thermometers and charts and stuff??!!!

Kayzr · 19/01/2010 10:28

I got a basal one from the Internet but to be honest it is exactly the same as the one we have in the first aid box.

bebejones · 19/01/2010 07:26

Kayzr - are you using a special thermometer or are you just using a digital one? Wasn't sure if I needed a basal one?

Kayzr · 19/01/2010 05:52

I just wrote out a big post and it vanished!!

I have started temping today. TTC is a long way of yet but it brings me a bit closer.

Bebe, I know how you feel. I find myself getting quite jealous of people I see with bumps.

bebejones · 18/01/2010 16:59

I think it's because I have so much riding on my MRI results from today on whether we can TTC or not. So that is playing on my mind, combine that with the hormones & I'm a bit OTT & emotional about the whole thing!

Sorry for bringing you all down! I will remain positive and for me TTC is 'planned' for May/June all being well. Something to focus on & get excited about! (Repeat over x20!!)

cheekster · 18/01/2010 16:14

Big hug for you bebejones, I had a similar baby scan experience last week. A proud dad was showing off 20 wk scan picture to some children in our school - and I so remembered the feeling of being proud and protective of my little 'alien' picture too.

On a plus point though - I think it is fab that so many of us are in the same situation, and many of us will be TTC around the same time too- July/Aug - which is something to look forward to.

bebejones · 18/01/2010 15:27

I am doing my best to lose as much weight as possible before TTC, have been doing exercise too. You would think I should be happy with my DD, I am so lucky to have her. Trouble is when she is being cute it just makes me want another one!

Seeing the couple with the scan pics was made worse by DH saying 'Aaah, do you remember that... it was so exciting!' Made me want it even more. AF due soon, so am just going to chalk the whole thing up to hormones & give myself a slap!

tanmu82 · 18/01/2010 13:20

bebejones I know what you mean about feeling like you are 'doing' something. I was browsing the pre-natal aisle whilst out shopping the other week, desperate to turn my planning into some sort of action!

I have pretty taken over my sister's pregnancy by proxy, using her as a 'valid' excuse for browsing the internet for hours on end for anything baby related.... I haven't gone as far as the crying bit, and hope I don't get to feeling that way....I feel for you! It does seem like all of a sudden everyone is either pregnant or has a newborn and I so badly want that!

Is there anything you could be doing physically to prepare? I used to love running and pilates, so am going to get back into a gentle routine to prepare my body for another pregnancy and birth. This means I can focus on my nutrition and fitness whilst I am waiting....

GirlWiththeMouseyHair · 18/01/2010 13:16

great to feel like you're doing something though ladies, trying to take the positive.

Thankyou splitthetea, I adore him!

AF finally arrived yesterday after not having it for over 2 years and starting to get a bit worried. Applied for a bursary today too which would push back ttc but hopefully only by a few months, am worried we won't be able to ttc for ages then there will end up being a massive age gap between DS and #2

Kayzr · 18/01/2010 12:42

Yes I already use it. Going to start properly tomorrow so I will be taking my temp and checking CM. I'm going to start taking pregnacare in May I think as it will be about 3 months before we start ttc.

bebejones · 18/01/2010 12:14

Kayzr - check out fertilityfriend.com if you haven't already, it's really good for tips etc & also a good way to keep track of everything!

This broodiness of mine is turning to jealousy!! I can't see or hear about pregnant friends without feeling quite upset. Been to the hospital this morning & saw a couple coming out after a scan with their pictures & it was all I could do to stop myself bursting into tears! What the hell is wrong with me? This cannot be normal? I will start pregnacare in March & then at least I will feel like I am 'doing' something.

Kayzr · 18/01/2010 08:00

Morning,

AF is due tomorrow so that means I can start tracking my cycles for the next 6 months. It will soon be August (well I keep telling myself that) and we can start ttc.

spilttheteaagain · 17/01/2010 09:11

Oh Florin how embarrassing!

We hosted Christmas this year for all 4 of our parents and because I was quite stressed about it all I woke up on christmas morning feeling very sick and spent about 15 mins sat by the loo.
Cue my mum running back into her room and excitedly whispering to my dad "Do you think it's morning sickness??" Thank God he just laughed at her and it went no further.

I made sure I glugged back the wine, just to clear up any misunderstandings

Welcome GirlWiththeMouseyHair and congrats your DS - gorgeous pic on your profile! Fingers crossed work etc works out for you.

GirlWiththeMouseyHair · 16/01/2010 20:23

Please can I join? We have gorgeous 14mo DS, always thought we'd aim for #2 to be born by the time DS was 2 but a colicky baby then a giggly happy crawler now a funnny brilliant toddler has been putting it off! Also I work in theatre and got my 1st decent job when DS was 9months, now directing with my company so waiting until at least March to see if the momentum results in any more work before ttc #2.

Seriously worried about finances because any salary I earn just about covers childcare but never thought we'd cope on DH's wage and just about managing it so putting it to the back of my mind!
