Hi everyone! Hubby and I are desperately broody and have been for a few years. We're hoping to TTC later this year, we're having to wait til Hubby finishes his degree as we just can't afford to have a baby whilst he's a student. Am wanting to come off the pill round about May, and hopefully TTC about Nov/Dec. Want to come off the pill a few months early as I've been on it for over 14 yrs, and would like to know what its like to have normal periods!

Be nice to know if anyone else is in a similar situation.

Thanks Kaylo

Kaylo · 27/05/2009 09:36

Awww, big hugs to you Claire, hope all will eventually come right for you!!

I think it's wise taking the cautious route just while everything is in the air -

Keeping my fingers and toes crossed, would be nice to go to a pregnancy thread with a familiar face (name)

All the best hunny xx x xx

Hello again Kaylo, not sure when we'll be able to start ttc exactly, I need to be off of the tablets I'm taking first. My Dr suggested that I may need a further 6 months of tablets, with 6 months to gradually come off of them. However, she also said that I may not need to be on the tablets for that long!, so it's all a little uncertain at the moment. I'm edging on the side of caution though and expecting it to be at least a years time, I don't want to be looking forward to starting ttc as I had been before for it to change again. If I do happen to be 'free' of the tablets sooner (and able to start ttc when you do) then brilliant but I suppose I don't want to get my hopes up.

Like you, I've been so excited looking at baby products and of course sites like Mumsnet!.

Kaylo · 26/05/2009 15:47

Hi Claire, sorry to hear you're having to wait hun but will be well worth it in the end

When are you looking at trying? maybe we can graduate to the pregnancy threads at the same time?

I too have marked off the dates in my diary for when we plan to ttc!! I'm finding myself already looking at prams and clothes and then forcibly reminding myself that I am not yet pregnant and if I carry on I will have nothing left to plan!! I'm a little excited at the while thing.

claireinthecommunity · 26/05/2009 15:01

Hi Kaylo, and welcome to the thread. I've returned to this thread after a few months of coming to terms with having to wait to ttc for at least another year, due to medical problems, so I can understand you feeling down about the possibility of waiting for 7 years . It's good that you've discussed things with your DH and he now understands how you feel. Your anniversary trip to Barcelona sounds wonderful (I'm hoping for a trip to Rome for ours next year).

I laughed when I read you'd worked out your OV dates for September and October, I went through my diary and marked out my dates from when we were going to start ttc this year. Not sure if it's wrong but I should think it's not that uncommon, well, with the very broody amongst us anyway .

Kaylo · 26/05/2009 07:49

Ooooh, had a good heart to heart with dh yesterday and we talked about the pros and cons of waiting 7 years - finally made him see sense and that waiting is silly (for us).

Also told him how down I've been about it and he felt terrible saying he had no idea - he would've if he'd listened to me!!!

Soooo, new plan is to review circumstances in September after our anniversary holiday to Barcelona - and hopefully will start ttc very soon afterwards.

Is it wrong that I've worked out when I'll be ovulating between 23rd and 28th September?
Maybe thats a little too hopeful so I also worked out Octobers ov days too

Just thought I'd let you all know x x x

claireinthecommunity · 25/05/2009 22:18

Hello again HM, sorry to hear your health hasn't improved much but pleased to hear that you are going to go for it and start ttc very soon - July is just around the corner!

DH and I went to a local outside event yesterday, weather was wonderful and there were lots of families there. I managed to get an hour holding a three week old baby boy, he was beautiful, it was bliss. I'm really pleased about it, I kept thinking about us starting to ttc next year and hopefully a baby of our own the following year. I wasn't upset or sad about the delay at all, just very positive about our future.

Hello to all the new posters

Medee · 25/05/2009 21:08

hello Houmous!

HoumousMonster · 25/05/2009 19:51

Hello again everyone!

It's great to see you again Claire. I'm sorry to hear you were so disappointed, but I can totally understand. My health hasn't really been getting any better (probably too much stress), but we've decided to 'Live Adventurously'. I realised that pregnancy could leave me bed bound or nearly cure me, so in either case there isn't much point in worrying about how things are now. There are plenty of reasons why now looks like the right time.

I'm awfully impatient though. I'm half way through my third box of Pregnacare and we've charted two full cycles of temperatures, so things look like they are working properly...but I still have to wait till July.

Grrr.

We went to a family BBQ today and our cousin's son was there. He's just turned one and he's utterly adorable! I really hope it's our turn soon.

My guilty pleasure this week has been picking up a new Mothercare catalog, and with my mum getting on a plane next Friday, hopefully it will all be a bit less cloak and dagger around here!

Kaylo · 24/05/2009 10:01

Hi Medee, I work full time currently, was thinking of dropping to part time but I figured maternity pay obviously would be better if I stayed full time for now and went part time after #3 arrives.

I think I may be obsessed with the whole wanting #3 thing, my dh wont even let me mention it, hard to describe how that really makes me feel, more like

Medee · 24/05/2009 08:59

welcome MrsP - we're just using the condoms until I have one normal period. Hopefully that won't be more than a month - hah!

Hi Kay - 7 years does seem a long gap. Do you work, or plan to return to work? Having your babies closer together would definitely be better for your career

MrsPigeon · 24/05/2009 08:38

Hello can I join please ?

We're hoping to start ttc early next year - I've been told the same as others on here that it could take six months or so for periods to come back to normal, so am planning to come off the pill next month and then spend six months using condoms.

I've been on the pill for ages so I'm kind of excited to know what my periods are actually like (and a bit scared I won't have any...).

It's really nice to know others are in the same position - we haven't told anyone either, our parents are broody enough on our behalf already without any encouragement! So I'm reading baby books secretly on the train and popping folic acid on the sly .

Kaylo · 24/05/2009 08:25

also forgot to mention...have been extreeemely broody since ds was 4 or 5 weeks old - but because I've only just started to mention it in last 4 months or so dh thinks i've sprung this on him!!

they think its all about them don't they?

Kaylo · 24/05/2009 08:07

Ooooooh me me me!!

I'm in a similar situation to mumnosbest

I currently have a dd age 4 and ds age almost 3 and reeeeeeaaalllllly want to get pregnant again. This would be my last pregnancy as don't really want to buy a 7 seater car - I love my car, it's called Polly

My only obstacle is dh!!

He says he isn't ready for another and I've got to wait 7 years!! I mean as if. Broodiness doesn't work like that, it doesn't know patience (or mine doesn't anyway )

I don't want to have babies years and years apart, I want them all to be friends (in a perfect world hehe) Waiting seven years puts a barrier up between my older kids and the new baby, and I'd be 31. I wanted to have all my babies by 25 but it's starting to look unlikely.

EEeeek - bigger post than anticipated - sorry!!

claireinthecommunity · 24/05/2009 01:18

Hi Medee and thanks

Medee · 23/05/2009 17:02

Hi Claire, nice to see you again.

I finished my penultimate packet of pills yesterday.

claireinthecommunity · 23/05/2009 14:05

Hello everyone, don't know if any of you will remember me, I joined this thread early on, dh and I were going to start ttc from June onwards. I had been taking some medication that was not advisable to take whilst pregnant and was slowly coming off of them. Unfortunately I now need to take the meds for a bit longer, meaning us putting ttc off until next year . I was fairly philosophical at first, then felt very down about it, so I stopped posting on the thread.

I've just caught up with what's been happening on the thread, nice to hear how you are all progressing and good to see so many new faces (names). I no longer feel so down about us needing to wait, just a little disappointed.

I noticed a new poster (sorry can't remember your name) who is getting married at the end of the year and who plans to start ttc in 2010. Yes it does seem a long way away (especially when you want something so much) but I'm sure the time will fly by, enjoy the summer and look forward to your wedding

Congratulations WH on starting already, I know what you mean about the other threads, it does seem 'safe' here!

HM, how are you? I remember having conversations with you regarding health issues, hope yours are easing.

Hobnob hi, I think if you click on the 'flip' function at the top of the page (underneath the thread title), it will start with the last post instead of the first, hope that helps.

I thought that I would post a message - my first one! Am also v.broody and planning on TTC in a few months. Looks like I am in good company! Best of luck everyone.

Hobnob76 · 13/05/2009 20:49

Medee I'd like to know how to do this too!

OP posts:
Medee · 12/05/2009 21:14

Just seen our very pregnant neighbour being driven away from the house at high speed by her hubby - could be #4 on its way for them.

Incidentally, does anyone know if there is a way to get to the bit of the thread which is unread - I click on the thread in the conception folder and it takes me to the first post, so I have to jump to the last page then scroll till I find the first unread post?

Hobnob76 · 12/05/2009 20:40

Thanks for that sophieandbelly, quite reassuring to know! Having been on the pill since I was 18, I can't actually remember what periods were like before!
