Hi everyone! Hubby and I are desperately broody and have been for a few years. We're hoping to TTC later this year, we're having to wait til Hubby finishes his degree as we just can't afford to have a baby whilst he's a student. Am wanting to come off the pill round about May, and hopefully TTC about Nov/Dec. Want to come off the pill a few months early as I've been on it for over 14 yrs, and would like to know what its like to have normal periods!

Be nice to know if anyone else is in a similar situation.

OHMYGOD!!

I'm so sorry to have ignored Princesslilly and pigleychez I never meant to - I think I must have just read to the end of page 17 and didn't check for others...I'm sorry and WELCOME

MrsPigeon · 03/08/2009 08:53

Welcome Norky and PrincessLilly and hello again pigleychez - that sounds like a brilliant series of birthday parties, would you consider branching out into adults' b'day parties, too? I quite fancy trip to sea life centre myself!

PrincessLilly, the advice generally seems to be that if you are planning TTC you should start taking folic acid around three months before. Maybe you could go and see your doc and mention it if you are concerned? I went to mine to check vaccinations (rubella mainly) were up to date, and he arranged blood tests that checked my folate levels too. Some practices offer a general 'pre-pregnancy' check-up. So maybe your GP could advise if a longer period of folic acid is still considered a good idea.

Hi all!

Welcome to our humble thread Norky - make yourself at home

10 weeks will fly by - I'm down to 2wks and 4 days and have been counting down since February! It's amazing how not being allowed something either creates a desire for it, or intensifies it!!

hobnob hope you're feeling better.

How is everyone - medee, any sign yet?

xxxxx

Hello all,

I join a few weeks ago but not been posting as ive been soo busy.
It was DD's first birthday last week so hugely busy on the build up to it then busy tidying and geeting back to normal afterwards.

On her birthday we took her to the sea life centre whisch she loved then the day after(sat) we had a family party of 25 people which took plenty of organising. Then on the monday I had 6 of her little baby friends over, all under 2 so that was rather manic!

Anyway now i can relax and get back into normality. And waiting to TTC

Hobnob- Ignore that child.. Ive worked with kids for 9years and they tend to have phases of words they use. I remember one child calling everyone ugly for a while which changed to PooBumHead! lol

PrincessLilly · 02/08/2009 22:06

Hello everyone,
I feel a bit silly for joining this thread since its a bit premature, however my dp and I have been thinking about starting ttc just after we get married in June next year. Would anyone have any idea when I should start taking folic acid before ttc? My mother always had a weak placenta with her pregnanices and had a premature baby at 26 weaks who didn't survive and 2 miscarrages due to a weak placenta. The doctors advised her to take folic acid for a year before ttc because of this- however this was 27 years ago so things might have changed. I hopefully won't have the same problem as my mum, but I guess there is always a chance, and if I need to think 1 year ahead, then I guess I should strart thinking now. Does anyone know what doctors recommend now?

NorkyButNice · 02/08/2009 21:45

Hello ladies - may I join your thread?

I've been banned from TTC for the last 8 months due to medication I've had to take - I'm on my last 2 weeks of pills now then it's a 2 month countdown till we're allowed to get down to business...

I wasn't broody at all until I was told I wasn't allowed to get pregnant - then I really wanted to have DC2 straight away!

Anyway, 10 weeks and counting!

Medee · 02/08/2009 20:15

good point, MrsP - it's funny how we would take offence at the fat bit but not the stupid bit, which is actually a worse insult, imo.

MrsPigeon · 02/08/2009 19:05

ps - you don't believe you're stupid just because he said so, do you? Well then!

MrsPigeon · 02/08/2009 19:04

Hobnob just to say please don't pay any attention to that horrible child, kids say all sorts of things like that and it doesn't mean anything. I remember being totally mortified years back when a little girl I was babysitting refused to believe I wasn't pregnant (her mum was at the time, it was obviously on her mind!), repeatedly asking why I had such a big tummy then! That little boy was just cross. Hope you don't take it to heart.

Hope you all had good weekends xx

Hobnob76 · 02/08/2009 15:22

Thanks Kaylo, trying not to let it get to me.

Well its lovely and sunny here today! For a change!

I wish I was a size 16! I'm a size 20 and couldn't care less right now - when this forthcoming pregnancy is over and done with....then maybe I'll lose weight. I just don't have the push to do it yet - the way I see it is it will all go back on in pregnancy anyway, which I know from past experience.

I DO NOT care what rude little children say at all, makes me sad they haven't been taught manners! Hobnob Please don't let it get to you - some children are just prone to saying things that aren't true and some words are intended only to cause upset.

Medee Sorry it was a neg result for you! I wonder what else it could be tho...

To everyone I haven't mentioned - hope you are well and you're having better weather, it's been drippy and miserable all day here!!!

xxxxxx

Medee · 01/08/2009 13:43

I must admit my trousers have sneaked into the size 14 after being a 12 for years, so I perhaps need to prevent a further expansion. Saying that I have a Nigella New York Cheesecake in the oven so it ain't happening soon!

Hobnob76 · 01/08/2009 13:37

Nope, I agree but I feel heavy iykwim. I would like to lose it for me and also so that my clothes feel and look better on me as at the mo they don't.

OP posts:
Medee · 01/08/2009 13:33

as long as you are doing it for yourself, go for it. 16 isn't too big, really.

Hobnob76 · 01/08/2009 13:20

I'm prob about one and a half stone overweight, his comments might just have been the huge push I needed tbh. I'm a size 16, would feel happier if I was back at a size 14

OP posts:
Medee · 01/08/2009 12:30

sounds like a charming child, Hobnob! I wouldn't worry about it too much, but if you felt you needed to lose weight to conceive, I suppose it might be the incentive. Are you much overweight, if you don't mind my asking?

I'm only slightly disappointed by the neg - I would rather it came after being sensible and not drinking cocktails!

Hobnob76 · 01/08/2009 12:22

MrsP hurrah for AF finally turning up!

Medee Sorry it was neg, hope the witch turns up soon for you!

I'm really crap at the mo. Might have to delay TTC so that I can loose weight. A 7 yr old called me 'a fat stupid cow' yesterday at the playscheme I work at! I went home in tears, maybe he's right, they do say children tell the truth I know I'm overweight but didn't need a bloody child to tell me!

Medee · 01/08/2009 11:21

Definitely not pregnant!

MrsPigeon · 31/07/2009 20:04

same here - and to be honest I don't think testing really brought my period on, just a coincidence...

Medee · 31/07/2009 17:37

hurrah for your period, MrsP. I really don't think I am pregnant, no symptoms whatsover, and we were pretty careful with the condoms - still I should rule it out.

MrsPigeon · 31/07/2009 17:33

Medee - I ended up testing and then AF turned up a couple of days later - looks like it is actually here now, fanfare fanfare - so maybe that does work? mind over matter and all that...

Medee · 31/07/2009 16:40

well, preg kit bought in Sainsbury's this afternoon (buried in the rest of the shopping) for testing tomorrow morning - hopefully the purchase alone is enough to bring on my period. I haven't even broken out the OPKs yet!

Medee · 31/07/2009 08:18

Maybe you are right, Kay...!

Kaylo · 30/07/2009 22:55

Hi everyone - how is everyone doing?

Medee nice to see you back, do you think maybe you should test....just in case or if nothing else then to rule it out?

To everyone else - I hope things are going well with everything.

Another rainy day here....fingers crossed for a better weekend.

Take Care everyone xxxx

Medee · 30/07/2009 21:05

Hello all, been away with work for a couple of days. It's very kind that you are wondering where my period is, but it still isn't here! No idea what is happening, but I am now on day 38! It has crossed my mind that maybe the condoms weren't sufficent contraception, but that seems very unlikely! And I hope not as I got drunk on cocktails last weekend!
