Hi everyone! Hubby and I are desperately broody and have been for a few years. We're hoping to TTC later this year, we're having to wait til Hubby finishes his degree as we just can't afford to have a baby whilst he's a student. Am wanting to come off the pill round about May, and hopefully TTC about Nov/Dec. Want to come off the pill a few months early as I've been on it for over 14 yrs, and would like to know what its like to have normal periods!

Be nice to know if anyone else is in a similar situation.

Do not fall into the trap of it taking average of 3months to get up duffed! That is what we thought and I was PG with DD after having sex only 3 times! Not good timing at all. Found out 2 weeks before our wedding and then couldn't eat loads of the food or drink and booze and no one knew why!

Waving at all newbies let of steam here it's what it's for! Am so with you all on everyone being pregnant, do these people not have televisions?!?! (I'm just jealous really coz #2 keeps being delayed!)

OneLonelySock · 03/11/2009 07:53

Waves hello at Kawaiiko Good going on the worrying the husband thing! I keep on telling my DH: "oh, it takes an average of three months to get pregnant, then nine months to actually pop out, so that gives us almost a year to move house and get ready - so sod February, lets start now!"
And I think he was kind of getting pursuaded, until one of his work mates in a similar situation turned up one day in a panic going: "She said it would take forever! What happened there? I'm not ready!"
shakes fist and curses the un-named woman with the speedy ovaries
Well to all of us, here's hoping that we're as fertile when we're ready and hot to go.

I don't think it's you imagining things MrsP, apparently we've got a mini baby boom on our hands due to the credit crunch - I guess here in this thread we'll all just stroll along pregnant next year in a fashionably late manner.

Pidgin · 02/11/2009 20:33

welcome Kawaiiko!

It is indeed a relief to share the desperation with others. I think my husband might think I'm mad too. (To be fair, I am reading 'What to Expect When You're Expecting' on the tube, slightly hidden inside my bag in case I see anyone I know, o he has a point.) Anyway, it helps to come on here and let off some steam!

Is it just me or are there pregnant women everywhere? I saw at least four on my journey home today ... either the broodometer is high or they are following me round for some reason.

It's starting to feel like quite a few people are planning to start Dec/ Jan, is that right? How's everyone else doing?

Kawaiiko · 02/11/2009 20:16

Hello, can I join in?

I need another outlet before I drive my DH mad. We agreed to start ttc in early December, but then as soon as we finally set a real date I was swept away on a wave of broodiness and started thinking 'Well, if December is ok, why not November...or...October?!' and I think I've scared him. He's probably wondering where his wife went

What's worse is that I've always been adamant that I didn't want a summer baby. I mean, really against it (saw how it affected my sister). If I got pregnant today I'd be due in July. And yet I'm desperate.

It's nice to have a safe space to say that

bebejones · 02/11/2009 19:52

It's so nice that this thread is starting to pick up a little bit!

Onelonelysock - DD was conceived with very litttle effort & DH still said I scared him! #2 will be far far worse poor man!

Verso - my Godmother was 42 when she had her DD and she is probably one of the best & most patient mothers I know! 40 is NOT old!

Pidgin · 02/11/2009 15:36

just re-read that and wish to add I do not think being 40 counts as an older mother these days - just that it did when my mum was doing it, if that makes sense!

Pidgin · 02/11/2009 15:29

Verso, considerLuisa Dilner! She is 47 and having another one. My mum was nearly 40 when she had me so I am biased in favour of older mothers (and their offspring, obviously ).

Verso · 02/11/2009 14:53

onelonelysock and pidgin many thanks for the much-needed slaps. Am still broody, but you made me laugh . Also pidgin I think you are my new best friend - I'm going to go around quoting you: "40's not exactly over the hill, is it?" >preen<

I think I need to start doing the lottery though. How else are we going to afford another maternity leave?! DH works part-time and I work full-time (long story) - so going down to SMP for a few months really hurts. Am sure there's a way though... >sharpens pencil

Pidgin · 02/11/2009 12:09

Hi all and welcome to Jennimoo, Spudmama and webby. Verso, consider yourself slapped, although it's comforting to think there are people out there with two who want another! On the less practical side, 40's not exactly over the hill, though, is it?!

My broodiness is continuing to shoot upwards, now have a (small) collection of pregnancy books hiding under the bed. DH spotted the last arrival from Amazon and asked me suspiciously whether it contained, and I quote, "fertility books" - he knows I am researching hard as I keep trying to get him to take a vitamin supplement and eat zinc-rich foods.

We have now decided to go for it in January, largely on the basis that we are going away for a week together over New Year and the prospect of being stuck in tiny cottage with me stone-cold sober was too much for DH. So I will be joining the others on this thread who are planning a last hurrah over the festive period and then flinging precautions to the wind in Jan. So it looks like we might be starting around the same time as you, OneLonelySock!

love to all,
the artist formerly known as MrsP

OneLonelySock · 01/11/2009 15:49

floats back into the thread after a long break.

Woah! Congrats to yourself Kaylo - Huge hugs and mini muffins!
And thank-you for giving us all an excuse to console our inner little green envious pixies with big bowls of raspberry ripple. Actually, sod it, don't know about youse but I'm having the tub, a celebrations in order!!

Hello to everyone! Especially to the most recent Jennimoo, Spudmama and webby!

I agree massively with MrsPigeon about broodiness coming and going, as for the last few months I've been floating on the wave between psycotically broody and trying to forget all about it - Still finally got a rough timescale - All our debts should be paid off in february, then we can look at buying a house big enough for lots of little pink wrinkly and whiney things. (Although just the one would be fab!)

giggles at bebejones and her military precision sex Really? Made me think of the M+S advert, this is not just any sex... this is (well you know)

oh, and yes slaps Verso with a wet fish. For trying to think in a sensible and practical way, and just because.

I really need to lay off the lunchtime wine. Going to lie down now. Love to all!

Verso · 31/10/2009 21:46

Hello, everyone! Am soooooooooo broody it's not true. Just can't have another as it isn't sensible or practical (pleeeeese tell me that doesn't matter lol). Sigh. I have two DDs so can't complain but I want another one! Aargh. Time running out - will be 40 next year - and just not practical to have another . Somebody slap me with a wet fish please.

bebejones · 26/10/2009 20:07

Although my TTC has officially been put back (again) I think I am going to start charting properly in the New Year. I was pregnant straight away with DD & I only had a rough idea about when I was OV then. Gonna be the most military precision planned sex ever I think! Very exciting for all those who are starting now or only a couple of months away!

jennimoo · 22/10/2009 08:56

Hello
My first post. We're going to start ttc around the end of the year, as then I'll be entitled to my work maternity pay! It seems so far away though! I came off the pill end of September and started the supplements before that. Just waiting for my first 'proper period' and have been having pains for two days now but still no sign of AF! Secretly hoping I'm pregnant!
I've bought some ovulation and pregnancy test sticks online for not a lot of money, and going to start testing for ovulation next month.
It's great Reading all your posts and realising it's not only me who seems to think everyone around them is pg or has a new baby!

spudmama · 21/10/2009 22:09

have been reading and felt the need to join in. Have finally talked hubby round in TTC2 but have promised to hold off so we don't have another summer baby. It's so hard as i feel like i could be missing out on conceiving by not trying now...

bebejones · 21/10/2009 21:54

Webbby - hang in there, it'l work itself out, your body just needs to 'remember' what to do!!

webby81 · 21/10/2009 20:53

Hello, I have been on the pill for 18 years solid! came off it after honeymoon beginning of sept had a breakthrough bleed couple of days after and nothing since!! bit worried i am so broody and have no idea when my periods are going to return!!

Muser · 20/10/2009 14:26

I had that same Christmas thought! But it may not happen that fast so need to be patient.

MrsPigeon · 20/10/2009 07:37

bebejones I'm so sorry to hear that, how frustrating for you. Hopefully the winter and spring will fly by and then you will be ready... sad news though

floweryboots I also keep having to remind myself that we won't get pregnant the first month we try! (I also share such thoughts with DH and get an odd look as though I am thinking of pregnancy on a permanent basis...)
And I know what you mean about broodiness wearing off, I go through stages of being v broody and then others of not being that fussed - especially when I get home from work tired and imagine having to entertain a three-year-old. But on the whole the balance is towards broodiness at the moment!

How is everyone else doing?

FloweryBoots · 19/10/2009 20:09

Haven't read through all the posts but MrsPigeon just saw yours about thinking it would be nice to tell people at Christmas. I had that exact same thought! I follwed it by telling DH, and got a telling of and reminder that it might not happen straight away! I really must not get my hopes up when we finally start it will happen straight away.

FloweryBoots · 19/10/2009 20:05

Hi, just thought I'd stick my head in here. I've been looking (secretly, te he) ast this site for a couple of months and thought I'd finaly brave making an actuall post! Husband and I keep agreeing to TTC and then it always get delayed, not my choice! We had agreed September and then DH was asked to be best man at a wesdng in May and didn't want me about to drop when it was the wedding, which is fair enough. So, supposed to be starting in November and can't wait. Mind you, slighlty worried that I am sure I used to be much much broodier then this, think I've been waiting so long i's worn off!

bebejones · 19/10/2009 18:19

Oh and to make it worse really good friend of ours had a baby girl last week......I want another one!!

bebejones · 19/10/2009 18:17

My health taken a downturn....now have begrudgingly agreed with DH to wait til next summer!!!

MrsPigeon · 19/10/2009 16:29

I want to start now too! Think broodiness is driving me a little crazed - at the weekend was discussing Xmas with parents and PIL and thinking it would be nice to tell them we're pregnant at Xmas... need to remember I can't plan everything that precisely!
Good luck to all - keep us posted Norky and Muser!

bebejones · 13/10/2009 22:39

So have to wait until at least Jan Good luck to you both though!!

Muser · 13/10/2009 21:16

I'm starting this month. Was meant to be next month but MrM agreed we could go ahead now. Woo hoo!. Think I should be ovulating tomorrow, might need to go jump him now.
