Please don't be offended if you're not named, you're still welcome, I just have a rubbish memory. I can see a couple of you on November thread but there's a whole load of people not there. Just wondering if you wanted a little thread to keep in touch?

Headfairy - just replied to you on grapefruit thread. So sorry about your sad news. Was hoping a new thread might provide you with support from old friends.

And Sunnydale, I know you're wary of new threads, so though you might also like the company of old friends.

Wishing and Bubble having your weird long cycles and missing whole month's threads, thought this might be one for you too.

So what do you say? I'll start a list just in case:

Issy, ttc#1, cycle 14, ucl 28ish, cd 23/10dpo, mc Mar08, cp Sep08, IVF in April.

Oops - that should be this thread

Head & Bubble - You may find [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/1366/691652 this]] thread I started last time I had bloods useful. Ignore the day 3 though - that was just when I had mine done.

OP posts:
Issy42 · 18/04/2009 00:06

Head - maybe your chilled approach to ttc in the conscious is spilling over into subconcious obsessing . I've had a strange feeling that I will be alone with a daughter since I was a teenager, so now that I am doing it alone I kind of expect to have a girl (not that I would mind either way, just want to be pg). Hope AF stays away for you.

Bubble - Good luck for your scan on 27th. If you are about to ov they will be able to see your follies and you'll probably have one dominant one. If you've just ov'd they sometimes see fluid or irregular follies as they retract, but often they can't tell that you've ovulated apart from the lack of large follies (but they can't tell if been & gone or never there). Your progesterone will be lower at day 23 than day 21 so if the result is borderline (20-30) or low (

HeadFairy · 17/04/2009 22:07

Blue the 21 day test is to check progesterone levels are high enough. My doc also ordered a battery load of other tests... kidney function, liver function, thyroid, full blood count, iron, folates, and a bunch of other stuff. I had to fill 6 of those little test tube thingys of blood ! Luckily ds was so tired that morning he just stood resting his head on my knee gazing absent mindedly out of the window and didn't seem phased at seeing someone take blood out of his mummy.

Thanks for the volvo boot loads of baby dust. I hope I don't waste it.

bluesatinsash · 17/04/2009 21:01

Evening ladies,

Yay! bubble glad your car passed and cheaply too!

Issy - lol at your magpie obsession - I used to be SO obsessed with magpies (remember seeing one from train on way to Uni and yes went in to find I'd failed an exam). I was terrified of seeing one on my wedding day etc. etc. but they have lost their power over me as the years have passed I fear them no more . Yes I'm from Scotland (Falkirk) which is exactly half way between Glasgow and Edinburgh so small town girl big big city attitude - ai right . Glad to hear you had a successful morning and for all those injections - its all happening now

Head - I'd remembered earlier that you were getting tested over Easter. What does the '21 day' test check for again? I'm sending a volvo boot load of baby dust down to you for next week .

Bubblebell1 · 17/04/2009 16:52

phew!! it passed so just £40 to pay.

MIL is going home tomorrow. ive really enjoyed her being here. she is a god send where the kids are concerned.

i hope you all have a good weekend.

HeadFairy · 17/04/2009 15:05

I'm sure it will be.

Hope the MOT goes well. It's been years since I did one (dh's car was Jersey registered so we didn't have to MOT and now we've got a new car that doesn't need to be done for three years) but it's ridiculously stressful waiting for it to pass or fail. It's like getting exam results, only you've got to pay lots of cash at the end whether you pass or fail!

Bubblebell1 · 17/04/2009 15:02

Thanks HF. I just hope everything is normal on the scan and with the bloods.

just taken dhs car for its mot.. (why do i get all the good jobs?) fingers crossed it passes ok. only 45 mins to wait. [biting nails emotion]

HeadFairy · 17/04/2009 14:47

bubble I had a scan to rule out pcos before I had ds and the sonographer could see the empty follicle (or whatever it was, forgot the word) so she could tell I'd just ov'd and what side... so yes, you'll probably be able to see if you have or are just about to ov. It's quite exciting seeing it, she showed me a blob when I had mine done. Was meaningless to me but I'm easily excited

I had my day 21 test on cd 24 this month (still not telling you what cd I'm on ) and the doc said that should be ok. My cycles are usually 27-30 days, but the doc said so long as you are somewhere near the peak of your progesterone surge that's ok. From what I understood it starts to rise just after ov and peaks midway between ov and the start of your next cycle. At approx 7DPO it peaks, holds for about 24 hours and if no fertilised egg is detected it starts to decline slowly until it's low enough to trigger your period.

I think...

I wish I'd listened more in Biology class now

Bubblebell1 · 17/04/2009 13:45

Hey everyone!

HF I hope AF stays away anyway... whatever cd your on fingers crossed for a bfp in a few days week or so

Blue Hope the knicker checking isnt driving you too mad.

I have a scan on the 27th april. I was refered after those pains i had at the end of dec. It is to look for cysts/pcos. its falls on cd15 so i was wondering if they would see my folicles or tell if ive ovd?? (sorry if its a stupid question) Ive also got a repeat day 21 progesterone test as my periods are regular i should get a more accurate result but day 21 is the 3rd may and the next day is bank holiday monday. Do you think going on day 23 (of a 28 day cycle) for a day 21 test is ok..

HeadFairy · 17/04/2009 09:52

Hi issy... ouch at all those injections. I don't know how you do it. I'd have to get someone else to do it for me and even then they'd have to sneak up on me and jab me in the arse Hope you're not too bruised and battered over the next couple of weeks. Good news about the eggs though... Those pesky magpies are messing with your head

I had two baby dreams last night (first one, I had a little girl which was a big surprise as I though dh only produced boy sperm and the second one... I was in hospital for an early scan and I got lost looking for the loo and ended up in a scary basement and couldn't find my way out) so I think my mind is playing tricks with me

Blue my ds exhausts me. Bizarrely, after his four hour marathon day in the park followed by no sleep, yesterday we were stuck in doors all day as it was raining so we went to see a friend who's little boy is 5 months younger than ds, and last night my ds was shattered. He had a massive tea (unheard of) and crashed while having his milk. Go figure

Lovely day at work for me so I'll be loitering all day working really hard. Take care everyone else xxx

Issy42 · 17/04/2009 00:51

Just a quick message before I go to bed. Thanks for all the lovely good luck and eggy vibes messages .

Blue - so we're almost the same then, except you'd get really annoyed with me always doing things at the last minute and I'd want you to stop asking me to update your plan with my progress . Weather's crap here too - just put heating back on - I have to stay warm for eggies to grow. Am I remembering correctly that you're in Scotland? Have moments of thinking of moving there - parents near Stranraer and cousin in Edinburgh. Love the superstitions. Today I saw 2 magpies on way to clinic , then on way back 1 , then another 1 , then a pair , then another single one , then another pair outside my house - not sure if that's 3 lots of sorrow and joy or whatever 9 means ... ... burial or kiss apparently.

Nice to hear from you Rip, but sorry you're feeling so stressed. I think being worried is sufficient reason to ask for an early scan or you could always pay for one. Where are you? My friend went to a brilliant place in Harley Street for her nuchal fold (was £120).

Wasabi - A commission sounds exciting, what are you doing?

Hi Bubble .

Head - with you on the excuse to visit child places, I'm a big kid too . We had to do a numerical reasoning test last year to use as our results as a benchmark when we were recruiting and I was really tempted to deliberately flunk it , but it was actually quite hard so thought I'd better do it properly. Unfortunately came out in 99th percentile compared with general graduate population . So I wrote an Advanced Excel for HR course instead, so I could teach the others in dept, which has only led to me getting constantly asked to help whenever anyone is struggling with a spreadsheet. I even got a call from the Deputy Director the other week asking for the Excel helpline, but I didn't twig and kept telling him he had the wrong number .

Sonographer told me everything looked OK this morning, but then nurse thought my follicles might be too big, so my oestrogen levels could be too high , so had a nervous morning, but thankfully got the call at lunchtime to say it was OK , so am now an official double injector for about 10 days (3 if you include blood test today). The second one is much easier though, needle goes in easily. Next scan and bloods are Monday to see how those follies are growing and then I think it's every other day until egg collection.

Oops, rambled on a bit there. Hope everyone else is OK.

bluesatinsash · 16/04/2009 21:55

Evening ladies,

wasabi - had to at your post and your trip to legoland, oooh my DS would be soo he is mad on lego these days! Anyway enjoy the carnage! p.s. how did your procrastination go today or were you too busy thinking about it - boom cha!

Head - your DS exhausts me just thinking about him! But that's what wee boys should be like .

Hey Rip, thanks for your good wishes and sorry you've been worried, its just the way it is unfortunately. I had periody cramps with DS for first few weeks but didn't with either of my MCs .

Issy - how did it go today?

Hi Bubble, Bd time will be here before you know it .

Well my knicker checking continues apace, wish I could get a hidden camera down there . Have even gotten into a routine of 'checking' before I sit down on loo, I'll be turning round 3 times and only going out when there's a full moon at this rate

HeadFairy · 16/04/2009 19:46

Hi all....

Glad the work review went well Issy, I'm afraid anything from the commercial world is a bit lost on me, never having worked anything remotely sensible, but how frustrating when someone totally doesn't get you. Perhaps you should start being rubbish at data analysis and they'll stop giving it all to you. I apply that strategy to all my work I hope the scan went well and you're on course for your IVF.

wasabi It didn't really work (bah!) We were in the park for four whole hours yesterday, and not once did ds sit in his pushchair, he was running around the whole time. And still he wasn't totally shattered. I put him to bed at 7pm as normal and he was still chatting to himself and playing with his toys at 8.30pm!! I should plug him in to the national grid, he has limitless energy. I hope your trip to legoland is more successful, sounds crazy. I'm secretly looking forward to ds being old enough for those kinds of places... I absolutely love the bubbleworks at Chessington. How juvenile am I?

Rip Glad you're well, but I hope those cramps stop. I had them all the way through my pregnancy with ds, it was like a 9 month period. It's so worrying. Perhaps as it's not your first you won't need to stretch so much so it'll stop soon.

Hi bubble I'm not telling you what cd I'm on hahahahahahaha Hope you're well.

Big hi to everyone else

Bubblebell1 · 16/04/2009 17:38

Hi ladies!

how are you all?

nothing much to report here... boring cd4!! but wanted to say hi!

wasabipeanut · 16/04/2009 08:59

Issy I'm glad your work apparaisal wasn't as bad as you may have feared. It all sounds very technical to me - the language of HR is quite baffling to outsiders! Like the others I am sending you lots of eggy vibes - I hope your scan gave the go ahead.

Head so did you manage to tire your ds out? Mine is similarly hectic, if you have found the answer feel free to share! We always fall back on going to the park or if I am really desperate soft play. Having said that we are off to Legoland this weekend with some other friends of ours with 2 boys. We will have 3 under 3 between us and they are staying over in our tiny little gnome home. Will be carnage but fun I hope.

Blue Hope you are enjoying the early days of pg and that your knicker checking remains fruitless.

Jumping how are you feeling? I hope you're finding a way to remediate the effects slightly. I can remember how difficult it can be at times.

Right, I'm off as I have a commisssion that I just have to crack on with. Hope you all have a lovely day

RipMacWinkle · 16/04/2009 08:48

Sorry I haven't been on much. Have been mostly feeling sick and stressing about this bean. Apart from a lot of worrying cramps a couple of weeks back, there's nothing else concrete that's making me worry. So i can't even phone EPU to ask for an appt. Just because I'm worried.

Anyway, enough wittering about me.

bluesatinsash - absolutely fantastic news!! Am so pleased for you. Seems like this "pretty-chilled" thread has done more for some of us than the monthly threads. yipee. Hope it continues.

Have to rush off now. Take care all.

Good luck Issy.

x

bluesatinsash · 16/04/2009 08:40

oh Issy - good luck for today (you'll have had your scan by now...). Sending lots of eggy thoughts . We've done MBTI at our work (I also work in HR) and I'm a ENTJ!

Hey everyone else, hope its nice where you are as its like bloody November here - boo!

Issy42 · 15/04/2009 23:34

Thanks for your lovely comments about my grandma. Just relieved I didn't send anything and upset mum's stepdad.

Lol Head, I like that chant. It was OK actually, she was quite positive about everything. Team away day on Friday though so not over yet. We're doing more MBTI personality type stuff and she disagrees with my profile - I'm an ENTP (need to bounce ideas off others and interested in bigger picture) and she thinks I'm an ISTP (likes analysis and working alone from a blank sheet and interested in detail) - I just want to scream that just because I'm the best person at data analysis in my department doesn't mean I enjoy doing it or that it's what I'm best at, just that I did an engineering degree when most HR people did history or english. I also resent the fact that she is essentially saying that I have no self awareness. Sorry, rant over, definitely getting a new job after maternity leave, if she hasn't moved to Spain by then .

Thanks for the eggy thoughts too.

Did your plan for DS work?

Thanks for such a lovely comment Bubble. How was the doctors? Great that your cycles are sorting themselves out. I'm sure you'll get your bfp soon.

Well it's a 7:30am scan for me tomorrow to see if I've downregulated properly and if so I'll start the stims as well. Fingers crossed.

Oblivious ??

Bubblebell1 · 15/04/2009 09:51

Morning girls!

issy i hope your well and your grandmas birthday passes without too many tears. Its good news on the ivf front tho. not long now ! Dont let that woman at work bother you...she must be oblivius to your charms... there is a gang of women here who think your great

HF have a great day out with ds... my MIL is here til sat and is helping me with the boys. its so nice to be able to have some adult conversation. Ive got the drs this morn but after that im going to the park to let the boys and the dog have a run around. You could still be on track for a bfp this cycle. how long til af is late?

Blue yep, my cycles are becoming more regular! they have been 68, 46 (with mc), 26 and 28. Hope thats a sign that im working properly and a bfp isnt too far away.

HeadFairy · 15/04/2009 08:46

Aw bless you blue I hope the knicker checking continues to be fruitless. Just keep singing Que Sera Sera to yourself and believe it'll happen meanwhile I hope you have lots of sticky Volvo Vibes (not vibes of sticky volvos, that would be disgusting )

Issy about your grandmother's birthday. I hope it's not too upsetting for you. Good luck with going back to you. Keep repeating under your breath "they all hate you, not me, I'm lovely" I hope it goes well. Good news that you're not going to have to delay egg collection. Sending you eggy vibes for the next week or so

As it's a lovely day here, I'm going to try and take ds out for the whole day to get him well and truely knackered, wish me luck!

Have a lovely day everyone, I hope you have sunshine where you are (literal or metaphorical ) xx

Issy42 · 14/04/2009 22:02

Congratulations Blue . Fantastic news - sending you lots of sticky-baby dust. Has DP done a celebratory Volvo clean?
Bubble - sorry AF got you and you've been ill. Did you get to have your Easter Egg hunt?
Girl - Good luck on the 2ww. Fingers crossed for you.
JJF - Thanks for the babydust. Well done on getting on with your thesis. Hope the nausea is comforting and not making you feel too bad.
Irish - don't worry, I work in HR - that's not interesting either. Sorry you got BFN. Hope the doctors can help. Where do you live now? I used to live in Notts too.
Head - that Easter Egg looked delicious - what a way to end the fast! Hope the curry got rid of your lurgy in time to enjoy it. Fingers crossed the gourmet bd'ing has worked for you this month.
Littlepea - Of course you're welcome to pop in anytime. Great that you've passed the 10-week milestone.
Sif - Sorry AF got you too . I think we're all guilty of the forward planning stuff. I already know that if my IVF works I'll be due around 20th Jan and start mat leave at Christmas!
Wasabi - sounds like your ovulation is just taking its time - keep up the bd'ing for now!

Thanks all for the wishes re bruises - no more big ones so far. AF finally arrived yesterday - was beginning to panic as would have had to delay EC at least a week if hadn't come by tomorrow. Just hope scan confirms OK to start stims on Thursday. A bit no BFP but having scared myself by googling poss effects of IVF drugs on baby, relieved I don't have that worry.

I have spent the last week intermittently remembering my grandma's birthday (today), then forgetting again, panicked about not having sorted anything out and picked out a card from my reserves, before forgetting to write and post it (thankfully) and then going online to send flowers instead, with a vague notion that she had moved and I needed her new address, at which point my brain kicked in and I realised. Doh! I had even been talking about being at her funeral on Saturday night in the middle of all that panic.

Back to work tomorrow - have my annual performance review too, which my boss usually uses to tell me my work is good but nobody likes me. Actually it's only her and one of my colleagues who don't like me and noone else likes them, but somehow she still gets to me.

bluesatinsash · 14/04/2009 21:58

x-post Head! Thanks for your supportive words!

Do you remember way back when we were on Aug baby thread and I got my BFP and you went on to September? I remember thinking what a shame as your posts were fab, I never thought we'd bump into each other again but here we are with no time limit and I so feel your BFP is just around the corner, those Volvo cars aren't made that size for nothing you know !!

bluesatinsash · 14/04/2009 21:54

Thanks girls for all the lovely supportive posts and sorry for the rather me, me me post earlier .

Bubble - crap that TEW showed up but it seems like your cycle is getting back to regular length ?

Wasabi - hope you had a good break in Norfolk. Hope your bank holiday love in has done the trick this month .

Fingers crossed girl on the 2ww...

Hey Jumping - sorry the ms has kicked in, tbh I'm desperate for mine to as I had horrendous ms with DS but none at all with 2 pg that ended in mc...

Off to bed now, its been a surreal and exhausting day. The knicker checking will commence at 0800 hours tomorrow - joy, not!
