All welcome.

Oooh, funtime you've got me excited now - my temp has been erratic but I also had a dip yesterday AM and it's on it's way up now as I said but I hadn't thought about the dip being significant!! Oooh... best BD for "insurance purposes" tonight then and let the 2ww commence. I'm so glad to have a cycle buddy!

I'll go and investigate in FF (HOW did I miss the dip being important!!) but just incase you read this before I find the answer - would the dip happen just before OV (and therefore mean that the BD last night was well timed) or would we have missed the window of opportunity?

See, you've created a monster!

Also, re: modern technology... in a way, I'm sure ignorance is bliss, but on the other hand, knowledge is power (oh yes, from now on I shall only speak in metaphores...) and while it means we may be ever so slightly obsessed with POAS and temping and CM and all that lark, it also means that if something goes wrong it can be sorted. In your case it could've saved your life!

Completely echo Jools too... imagine all the heartache and the horrid 9ww!

funtimewincies · 10/02/2009 12:10

How annoying for you !

I though that men were supposed to think about sex all the time!

yellowflowers · 10/02/2009 11:59

grrr - well dh wasn;t up for it last night. we tried but he just didn't feel well. gah! fingers crossed for tonight... temp very low which sometimes preceeds ovulation for me.

funtimewincies · 10/02/2009 11:30

Jools - my mum was saying a similar thing, that you had to miss at least 2 AF's and there were no scans, only x-rays which for obvious reasons were only used in an emergency. She started wiffling about 'too much information being a bad thing' and it all being better in her day, etc. until I reminded her that without this modern technology, my ectopic wouldn't have been spotted in time and there was a good chance I'd have carked it . Cruel , but she was being very annoying as she disagrees with me going to see someone about the mcs ('we just accepted our lot in my day', etc.)

Broodzilla - I'm pretty sure that I ov'd yesterday (temp. dip in a.m. and +ve poas) so shall we wait out the 2 weeks together. Ready, steady, obsess !

Joolsiam · 10/02/2009 11:19

I only realised when my mum opened up and talked at Christmas just how hard it was for her to conceive my sister There are 6 years between us and, in between, they adopted my brother because they didn't believe it would ever happen. She used to temp - was advised to do so by her GP at the time.

She also told me that the doctors wouldn't see you until you'd missed two AF's, so I guess anyone getting a PG confirmed nearly 40 years ago would have had to be at least 9 weeks - the waiting and hoping must have been soooo hard

Broodzilla · 10/02/2009 11:05

Hi and welcome to all the "newbies"! (Not that I know if I can count myself as an "oldie"!) It's a lovely thread full of lovely people.

at all the Cosmo-talk... I guess that's a side effect of being in a long term relationship? (Not that I would tell anyone to start TTC in the first flush of luurve, but it would sure as hell mean that BD didn't require any amount of planning!)

We're going with the DP this month. Got a nearly-as-strong-as line on the OPK yesterday and this morning my temp chart was on its way up, so I guess we're easing into the 2ww.

Actually talked about the whole TTC business with DH yesterday, and I told him that the general conscensus seems to be that men should not be informed of all the technicalities. I draw the line at CM, there are some things that he really doesn't need to know! He seems to find the POAS quite interesting though, and was quite excited yesterday about the nearly +ive stick. So far, he is enjoying the BD fest, but my MIL (!!!!) has told him to make sure we don't get too focused on the TTC and stop enjoying it. (I'm so glad that I was not there for that conversation!!!)

funtimewincies · 10/02/2009 09:43

I don't actively follow the DP, just try to have sex each day that I'm fertile. My luteal phase looks like it's shortened to 12 days so I've been giving up too soon!

Welcome pinkyblue, you'll find lots of support here from ladies at all stages of ttc, including many who've had mc's. I feel very sorry for people ttc #1 on this thread, as they're not as blissfully ignorant as I was when trying to ttc my ds when I never imagined that it would happen to me. Hope you enjoy our company !

On that note, I've got my appointment at the mc clinic later in the week, wish me luck .

Joolsiam · 10/02/2009 08:50

Welcome Flintski - I remember you

Welcome also to Pinkyblue

Yes, I laughed at the doctors and nurses suggestion too !!!

Nothing to report here really - just waiting for AF to arrive on Sat so I can hopefully get on with TTC again

C1NDY · 10/02/2009 08:49

Wasabi Congratulations on getting your BFN.... like you said your body is back to normal, so you can start again. (big hugs)

Hi everyone, I am stuck in limbo land right now... don't get me wrong its lovely to have a BFP but I keep wondering when it will be over. Tommorrow will be the start of week 6... so only another 6 long weeks to wait!!

I think we have dropped the DP off the list... and I cannot believe Pinkie is the only one using the DP... can those who are doing DP please place it after your cycle. Goush I sound like a teacher today! but its the only way we can see how well the technique work.

Pinkyblue I tried the DP and well got my BFP after three cycles, so it does work. I didn't stick to it fully and did miss days out of feeling tired. But one thing is that I never missed CD8, as I believed that sometimes I would ovulate early in my cycle. Good luck.

Pinkyblue123 · 09/02/2009 21:46

Thanks for the advice YellowFlowers. I have just been using Persona up to now (I used to use it for the opposite of TTC ironically) I keep meaning to try temping properly but always forget to do it or have disturbed sleep due to my DS (4) and DD (3)! Also DH does not like it if I obsess and does not want us to just BD at the right times....but I have told him about DP and he is happy to give it a go...so I guess we will be busy this month!

yes do join us pinkyblue123 - the more the merrier. It's great having the support of this thread.Do you want to add yourself to list? (Just cut and paste it from last time it appeared and add in your details. We're all quite into the Deanna PLan (google it - basically just lots of sex from a week before ovulation to a while after) and also grapefruit juice drinking. A lot of us chart using fertility friend too.

I love that idea funtime - made me laugh. Said it cheekily to dh while I was making dinner and I can't repeat what he said but he didn't seem to like it!!! But I did warn him that if he eats too much dinner and thenis too "full up" for sex (this sometimes happens) that I will not be happy.

Pinkyblue123 · 09/02/2009 21:21

Hi Girls,

Do you mind if I join you as you seem like a lovely bunch. I am TTC #3 and have been trying since I had a m/c at 11 weeks last March. It is taking much longer than I had hoped and so I am hoping that soon I will get a BFP.
DH does not always understand how hard it is TTC although he is keen for baby #3 and was gutted about the MC. I am 36 so am starting to worry that time is running out....perhaps i am just being paranoid.

It took 18 months for me to conceive my DS and only a couple of months for my to get PG for my DD and for the one that I lost. It seems so weird that sometimes it happens quickly and others takes ages!!

Anyway hopefully things won't be too much longer now I am CD10 and hope to try DP this month (but DH has been away so we have not officially started yet...oh well!

funtimewincies · 09/02/2009 19:02

Maybe a spot of doctors and nurses might be in order yellow ?

yellowflowers · 09/02/2009 16:39

Hi wasabi - that is good, nice to be relaxed about it.

Thanks for asking re dh - he is off sick today but so much better than lastnight - def had a v high temp but almost normal now so don't know what it was.Did research on nhs direct website instead of calling in the end, but was mainly relieved that by the time we went to sleep and after calpol (he can't swallow pills) his temp was dropping again.

I am hoping he is well enough to do the deed later...

Hi everyone,

I hope the week has got off to a good start for everyone.

Welcome Flintski It's lovely to have new members of our little gang! It's a fun place to hang out

Funtime - Well your week certainly should get off to a good start! I know what you mean about the difficulty of getting quiet time with a ds tearing around. You can see why people tend to take longer to concieve numnber 2! I am glad that you are happy at your friends news. I think we'd all understand if you had a few mixed up emotions is addition to being happy for her so if you need to vent at any point feel free!

Becky - gosh I can't believe you are 20 weeks already. You wait - the time will fly and you'll be back on the Pinot before you know it! I never really got my taste for white wine back after my 1st pregnancy but I am still extremely partial to a glass/bottle of red! My dh bought me a mini bottle to have with some lovely cheese after dh was born! It was probably a bit naughty smuggling alcohol into a hospital but hell, it was lovely!

Yellow how is your dh today? Did you call NHS Direct or anything? Hope all is well x

Well Dh and I have reaquainted ourselves with eachother over the weekend! I tested at home and got a BFN on Thursday so considered it "safe" to resume activity! It was lovely actually. This is odd because its probably the opposite of what everyone else here feels but because we have written this month off as I haven't a clue if or when I will ovulate it feels quite liberating. It has served as a helpful reminder of how much we used to enjoy sex for its own sake rather than as a means to an end......

funtimewincies · 09/02/2009 13:44

Welcome flintski, you are most welcome ! I posted on a Christmas 2ww thread and then just couldn't face joining another month/seasonal one. I'm also ttc #2, but we're a mixture of first timers and those of us who've simply forgotten how painful it was first time around .

Jools - I find that doing the occasional thing that's completely out of character seems to do it for my dh (finding me in bed without anything on, a 'no-knickers day', attacking him on the sofa sort of thing ). Out main problem is getting any privacy from ds.

Positive on the ov. test today. I've texted dh to tell him not to be too late tonight!

yellowflowers · 09/02/2009 09:31

Hi flintski - sorry missed your message when posting lastnight. You are very welcome and I remember you ask two please too - do you want to add yourself to the list?

Dh home from work today - despite being ill he didn't flinch too much when I suggested he try very hard to get better so I can have some sperm later! Only day 11 now but no chance tomorrow or next day because of evening work committments so ideally we'd get tonight in and
then day 14 (I usually ovulate day 16 or day 23 depending on whether it's a short or long cycle)

xx

welcome flintski

Julesiam there is a game called Nooki which might help...it makes you do different things, not kinky or anything ;) i found it to be fab. I am ow too so i go for stuff that is sexy but covers me up a bit, like camisoles or longer basques that hold things in and my partner deffo aproves so maybe try that?

hello everyone else

queenie1 · 09/02/2009 08:25

Hi flintski - welcome to the thread. It's been very lucky for lots of people so it's great to have new recruits into the endless obsession of ttc... how long have you been trying? Are you trying for first, second...etc?

yellow - sorry to hear it was definitely a cp but at least you conceived.

iggy - sorry to hear AF got you too.

Here's hoping this month will be successful for all of us!!!

no news from me. DH says he wants to 'not try' this month but we will still have sex just not in a oh-so-timed-obsessive-kind-of-way. That just makes me stressed as now I have to work on seduction and try not to get too psychotic if / when we miss 'the time'...arrghh. We did BD (sorry had loving sex) yesterday (CD9) but I think it's way too early for it to be in with a shot...luckily we're off on holiday on friday so will make my attempts to BD easier...

how are you all?
xxx

Issy42 · 08/02/2009 23:22

Hi Yellowflowers and others here from the aiming for July/August baby threads (and anyone else who wants to join us) - just popping in to let you know about this thread. Many on those threads have disappeared from the latest ones, so started the thread to keep in touch. Thought about you as soon as I hit the post button.

yellowflowers · 08/02/2009 22:51

Thanks Jools - did lots of internet research and given him calpol (he can't swallow pills) and after a rest he's now up and had some dinner - phew. Just weird because even just after ovulation my temp is mid 36s and his went straight up to high 38s so I was worried.
Guess I can't ask him for a shag now, though we did manage yesterday.

re getting your man excited. Can you go to a bar and start whispering naughty things? Or text him a dirty message in the middle of the day (make sure it is to him not someone else by mistake!) Or have a weekend away? Or suggest he join you in the shower? Or could you have a couple of nights where you say you know the sex thing is pressurised so can you explore eachother's bodies (kissing, stroking etc) without sex just to reacquint yourselves with each other - could be in the dark if you prefer. Just some ideas from years of reading women's mags...

OP posts:
flintski · 08/02/2009 22:41

ok then - are you happy for newcomers? I am looking for a ttc thread that doesn't have a month in the title as it was depressing me too much hopping from one to the next once AF arrived. Will you home me?

I recognize some of your names from threads earlier in the year (my name used to be twoplease in case anyone remembers) - i am ttc #2 (hope thats ok?) and we've been at it for very nearly a year now. Fingers crossed this is our month although have had cystitis so might have missed the really important days. am on cd 17, so into this months 2ww.

is it ok to hang around with you guys?

Joolsiam · 08/02/2009 20:14

Hi Yellowflowers - not sure about the temperature thing, but probably worth giving NHS Direct a call ? Hope he feels better soon.

I had a rotten night last night - wide awake from 3am and have felt very spaced out all day - hot flushes this evening and the glands on my neck are now so swollen it is painful to turn my head I've had an odd sore throat for a few days and that is getting worse too. Not sure what it is - I have my annual performance appraisal tomorrow and my boss is travelling quite a long way to see me, so need to get up and go in, provided I'm not infectious

Had the chat with DP - our issue appears to be "performance anxiety" and he has suggested I buy some sexy underwear ! Trouble is, I'm nearly 3 stone overweight - I will never look good with the lights on Need to find some ideas to spice things up ..
